Would have been 4 stars. Here is why: Pro: fast, good solid state and hard drive combo, light weight cons: fragile, One accidental drop from two feet and the screen had a small crack on top right corner. The laptop was not open. It just slid off my bed and fell on the floor. So, I may be clumsy but this is not a durable laptop for sure. Buy warranty if it's not more than $50.

The laptop is so light. It's the first thing people notice about it. I like the dual hard drive, but the speakers are horrible. Even at 100% it's hard to hear anything. Other then the speakers I'm happy with it.

I had to get a windows for work and this flipped the bill and more. It’s super fast. I’m streaming all day and never have any problems accept a reminder to plug in battery. I run 2 screens off of it and it’s got the power. It may be old for computer years but I love it and hope it keeps on going. I don’t do games or surf so don’t really know that performance. But, for what I got it for BBY led me in the right direction and grateful for that. I see the newer models and still like this one. I couldn’t get touch screen due to work but who cares got a wireless mouse and it’s perfect.

I've had this laptop for about a month, and its been great so far. It is great for the price, and there's really only a few minor issues I've noticed that prevent me from rating this 5 stars. I'm a law student so I use this laptop for a lot of typing, streaming videos, and doing online legal research on legal databases with lots of tabs open at once. It is fast and I've not had any problems with what I use it for. Video quality is great, and the no-glare screen is a real plus. It's super lightweight which is also nice. The soft gold/champaigne color is really good looking and professional. As far as the interface, this laptop has a real ease of use. There are a lot of great things about this laptop that I won't go in full depth on, so if I haven't mentioned some feature, it is probably good. I saw some reviews saying the keyboard/battery gets hot at times. I have not experienced this in the slightest. Minor issues: The mouse touchpad is a tad oversensitive at times. If you have a bit of moisture on your finger, the cursor doesn't completely track what you are doing on the pad with 100% accuracy (probably around 85%) or will track a bit further than you intended. But again this is a minor issue, not a big deal. Fine if your fingers are dry. Durability seems to be a slight issue as well, the structure/frame is just a bit flimsy. That's the tradeoff you get for the super lightweight design, I'm guessing. Nothing has broken but I am a little apprehensive and try to treat the laptop delicately - if you do that you'll be fine. Sometimes I will walk around with the laptop open holding a corner of the base with one hand - I wouldn't recommend doing this because it gets a slight bend when you do so. Once it caused the mouse pad to click down, but it released once I set the laptop down. Any pressure/torque you put on the side of the screen frame causes the image in that corner to distort/discolor a bit - not permanent, just while the pressure is applied. Battery life is just decent. Not terrible but I don't think you would get a full 8 hours from it if you were using it for intense work all day with full screen brightness. You can play around with the energy settings to get more battery life, and it tells you how much time you have based on your current intensity of use and which power saving setting you have it on, which is nice. For my purposes (typing documents in word and doing online research, streaming videos, on the 3rd of 4 battery use intensity settings), I estimate I could get a solid 6 hours from the battery if I let it go all the way to 0%. Havent tried that obviously because that is bad for any laptop battery. One plus is it charges very fast. The sound system isn't quite loud enough, depending on how much you need it. Loud enough if you are by yourself in a room that isn't noisy. But I often pair it with a Bluetooth speaker if I am playing music or listening to an important online lecture that I need to hear clearly while I am cooking or not directly in front of the laptop. Sound isn't a major "must have" in a laptop for me, so the Bluetooth speaker solution works fine when I need loud sound. Headphone sound is plenty loud, no problems there. The charger has a square base plug like the macs, but there isn't an attachable extension, which would be nice because sometimes the square base chargers don't fit nicely with classroom desk outlets or wall outlets that don't grip the plug well enough to hold it in with friction alone, given the weight of the square. My guess is an extension chord would be an easy fix for this. Overall a great laptop for $850, which is what I got it for on sale.

I have had this laptop for 4 days, long enough to get everything transferred from my old laptop. So far I love it. A couple of things to mention is that it doesn't have a separate numeric pad and the battery is not user replaceable. The numeric pad is just a matter of getting used to using numbers across the top of the keyboard-no biggie for me. I'm a little concerned about the overall battery life (as in 3-4 years). I asked Geek Squad about replacement and they currently send the laptop out for battery replacement. With my old Asus, I ordered a replacement battery online and just snapped it into place. With the new, thinner laptops battery replacement is more complex. This Asus is super quick. I like that it has storage options 256 SSD for Windows, programs, and frequently used data. ! TB HDD for everything else. Satisfies my needs. A SSD below 512GB as the only storage would require me to store many of my files in the cloud and external media, which would add a level of complexity to file management. Also this ASUS is smaller with the same screen size than my old 15.6" The bezel around the screen is narrower. This is a plus for placing in my carry on bag when traveling on airplanes, without sacrificing screen size. I am very happy with this laptop.

Oof. The specs are great, but this laptop was defective and just up and died on me after like a year. Thank goodness for Geek Squad!

    Great Computer

This computer is fantastic!! It has everything the Best Buy site says it does. You can switch from the UHD 620 graphics card to the MX150 by typing in and going to NVIDIA settings. When you switch you get higher all around performance. I have the computer set on high performance in the settings as well, just like my others. The computer is very, very fast. This one is rated a Battleship when I did the UseBenchmark test. SSD is also rated very high. The i78550u processor is a great four core. Core speeds for daily (non-gaming, etc.) use is incredible, way above expectations. Intel has really made a great processor here with the way they have made it work and ASUS has made it great computer package. I'm not a gamer but the MX150 is a higher rated, dedicated, graphics card than what many computers have. I've done a little live streaming and it has had no problems. There is backlit keyboard and the housing is made of metal not plastic. The screen seems fine as well. It isn't a touchscreen. I have it hooked up to a larger screen with the HDMI slot. Also plugged in so don't know anything about the battery life with the settings I have it on. You push the fn key to make all the adjustments for the top row of keys. Had to have the Geek Squad show me this. So far I cannot say enough about this great laptop. I will say it is worth spending a hundred or two more to get a top of the line computer. This computer does it all. No cons about this one. This is my first ASUS computer. I liked what they offered compared to others.

Contrary to the photos (as well as the manufacturer's website description - https://www.asus.com/us/Laptops/ASUS-VivoBook-S15-S510UN/Features/), this model does NOT include a fingerprint sensor. Best Buy customer service was completely unhelpful in researching or addressing this issue. If having Windows Hello (the equivalent of Apple's Touch ID) is remotely important to you, DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.
