We went into best buy wanting to buy a chromebook and actually found this model on sale because it was a floor unit. Im pretty well off in my knowledge of computers and knew that this deal was worth it, computer was purchased around $100 off from being a floor unit. I did a clean install of windows and actually upgraded the hard drive to an SSD. This unit was different to open as the core components were located under the keyboard instead of taking them from the back. I didnt mind it that much but I did find that the ram and wifi card are located below the motherboard and would require alot of time and effort for something, in my opinion, should be easily accessible. Keys are kinds weird to get used to as they seem very fragile and light, sometimes a good thing but I have big fingers so that doesnt seem fit to my liking. Other than those things the computer is great and lightweight at that! Would definitely recommend to a friend who does not have any plans to upgrade components.

Okay for streaming use

I needed a laptop that doubled as a media/streaming box. I also needed one that wasn't a Chromebook or a laptop with Celeron/low end AMD processor. It also needed a full-sized HDMI port for easy connection to the HDTV and no adapter nonsense.
This laptop fit the bill for all that. So far I've had no problems with any online videos and streaming services with this. By itself, it's fine for viewing web pages. I haven't done much else with it because it's not my primary PC in the house.
It came with Windows 8 and some starter apps. I had to uninstall most of that and install the free upgrade to Windows 10.
The only problem I could see is that any attempt to upgrade the hard drive or RAM requires an entire disassembly of the laptop. A previous laptop I had provided small access flaps to both hard drive and RAM. The battery is also within the laptop instead of somewhere outside with easy access.

As my online name suggests, I am lacking in technical skills, so just needed a basic but up-to-date laptop with plenty of storage space so I wouldn't have to learn how to back it up right away. Now that I'm past the original learning curve on this ASUS vs. my dinosaur, I'm appreciating all the features including ready access and user-friendliness. Additionally, the Geek Squad and Best Buy customer service in general has been superb! Only reasons for less than five stars are: Wish this had one more port for accessory, and wish battery could be easily accessed. Otherwise = = good buy, good product!

Works great as a basic laptop. Good for simple and normal usage. Was purchased for an elderly couple to check email, browsing and social media. Is very light but appears durable. Viewing angles are not the greatest. Drawbacks are the upgrade to the new Windows. Major complaint is with the free six month antivirus software. They start the countdown from the date of purchase and not the date of installation. Since this was a gift, it had not even been activated and I get an email from the ":Squad" that it going to expire. No where did I see or hear of such an unacceptable act.

It was a purchase for my sister so just needed a basic laptop for internet and schoolwork. Works pretty well, it is very light and the design is streamlined. The bundle was an excellent value in that it included security, a mouse, 8gb usb flash drive and a laptop case! I did not know it came with all the items at first, and at the price it was totally worth it. The only downside is once I finally upgraded it to Windows 10 and installed some programs the start up time became very slow and drawn. Other than that, it is a good value for a basic notebook.

Wanted an inexpensive laptop that I could use for working on my embroidery program at home. Turns out it needs to be upgraded.
However after the Geek squad (Gino, Ocala, Fl) set it up for me it works fine for me. He was very kind and patient. Eventually my embr. program will work on win 10 and I will know what I really want and need in a "good" laptop. Only gave it 4 stars because I couldn't set it up myself. I'm sure someone more technically savvy could have but
I am working on only Win3 knowledge so I am at a disadvantage.

I was looking for an inexpensive PC computer. (I have macs and needed a PC for an online course that had programs that would not work on a Mac - per the instructor.) This computer did the job. Although a bit heavier than other laptops or tablets available today, it was not uncomfortable to carry. I took it with me to a conference which allowed me to keep up with the course while traveling. The only problem was the size. It was too large to fit in the hotel's room safe. It has window's 10 and allows CD access.

My laptop was about to die and I just needed another that could get me through until I could afford the one I really want. For the cost, This computer is fantastic!
The ads and online descriptions state that this computer has a 1TB hard drive but when you look at it in the store, the box states that it has a 750GB hard drive. This must be a typo because the computer inside does in fact have the 1TB hard drive.
I upgraded the computer to Windows 10 with no issues.

I purchased this laptop bundle on sale just to do simple office functions and everyday tasks and it works quite well. I have much more powerful desktops and better and faster laptops at the office and at home. This is exactly what it is advertised as....a good laptop with lots of features and freebies at a really cheap price! If your trying to run a business on it or trying to do gaming or even trying to run several programs at once then you bought the wrong computer!! At this price you are not going to get free tech support from any brand or outlet. People often confuse software support from hardware support. They are not the same. If you have problems downloading software then store personnel or even the manufacturer is not going to provide any assistance. You will have to contact the software provider such as Microsoft for the Windows 10 upgrade! Good luck with that one!

it arrived on time, was easy to open packaging and find all included items, as well as operate it was very simple to turn on and use. i was surprised by how simple the whole process was and very satisfied with this product, and although some features were a bit tricky i was still able to figure then out relatively quickly and am thus very happy with my purchase of this item. especially how light weight it is. its perfect for setting on ones lap!

This is a usable laptop. Processor performance for the Atom-based quad-core Pentium is respectable, though lower than an i3. 3D graphics performance is, predictably, abysmal, but 2D is fine. The relatively spacious hard drive is a little on the slow side. Keyboard, trackpad, and screen seem fine, again, for a low price. This laptop, if purchased at a low price, is a good deal. Don't expect the ASUS quality of years past, though.

Very simple looking laptop, a little slow when moving from screen to screen when multitasking. Overall, if your looking to not use it a lot, then it would be the right laptop to get. Great package deal! I ordered it online and had it delivered, and it got here safely and was handed directly to me from the delivery guy. Fast delivery too!

This computer is a thin, powerful, and great for medium computer related activity. At first I thought the processor would be a problem. NOPE. is is great for web surfing, skype, and the start up time is great has Battery life is great. and it has fast charging for your phone or tablet connected to the usb which I have not seen before. Great for students or any that needs a light computer for on the go.

I saved up to get my son and I a computer to share so the family isn't fighting for their own time on the 4 year old laptop we own.
This Asus was a complete waste of savings. I didn't expect much, but it took 2 days to update, another evening spent uploading the virus protection and now I find out the headphone jack does not work. The speakers built in are so quiet I have to turn off every fan in the room and wait for everyone to go to bed to attempt to watch a video. Videos upload from Netflix on our old machine and Xbox three times as fast as this junk.
The headphone jack not working makes it impossible to watch anything now. I am so upset.
I would've spent more money to have a machine that would allow me to download my pictures from my camera faster and at least hear a movie. Back to the kindle just to write this review!

It's cheap exterior with options unavailable that I wouldn't have even looked for. For the money, it seems like a good computer. I imagine it will be good for up to three years. I really bought it to watch online content, my video card was outdated and purchased this one open box. It took a bunch of online updates but once officially up and running. It's doing the job.

This computer was purchased for the sole purpose to be used as a backup laptop computer for the office.Although, it was purchase for office intentions, it was given to my daughter to keep. She loves it and uses it for her college studies researches, writing, and etc. It is small, easy to carry and most of all it gets the job done for her and it works well for a backup for our office. I will definite purchase another computer like that one and give it as a gift and purchase yet another one to just have around. I will say, that it is a little hard to set-up because the instructions are a little off about downloading information but once you get it up and running - WOW - It is great!

This is a fairly good laptop. I only use it for basic stuff, nothing advanced. It works well and is durable. I purchased it more for the price than anything as I am not very tech savvy. When I went into the store to purchase it I went in with a certain price in mind and was actually just browsing but decided to purchase it because of the great price.

Good computer... but, you'd be better off removing McAfee "off" the auto-install features!! It caused the laptop to "freeze" several times to the point of having my wife say that she wanted to "take it back" to BestBuy and get something else. I "removed" McAfee and it has worked fine ever since...
Just think you ought to know...
