    Ok for the price....

Soo far... not so bad. The battery took a while to charge.... but it did charge to 100% without issue over night. It's down 5 percent with about 15-20 min of usage---to give an idea of how that's going to work. My other complaint is the webcam... it seems to work fine when I use the software that came with it to turn it on....however, it doesn't seem to work with skype, paltalk, and yahoo messenger so far. Hopefully updating the webcam drivers will resolve that, but I am hesitant. I downloaded a program called Start8 and got this looking like windows 7, which is nice and it seems to function well with the touch screen as well. I downloaded an android emulator to see if I can get some games and apps I like on here..... and it seems to be very slow with running games like need for speed most wanted. Perhaps its the emulator or maybe this processor can't take that. I'm going to download a movie and see how that plays. This was a good deal for a small netbook like computer, but I am feeling that the tablet part is somewhat useless with the limited apps in the windows store that I will probably never detach this from the keyboard. I think I will just get a smaller windows computer that's physically easier to use. Then get a tablet separate that has android. If you like windows and don't mind the lack of apps.... and just need this for email, surfing around the net, social networking..... I'd recommend it. I wouldn't really recommend it as a replacement for your main computer since typing is a bit challenging at times along with mouse usage.

    Good Product, Bad Quality Control

I was looking to switch things up at our Apple home and try a Windows 8 system. Wanted a tablet/laptop combo that we could use for Office instead of going Google since my wife and I both use that for work and school. This was the perfect solution and very portable and on sale for $299. I played around with it for a couple of weeks and loved the interface and the overall performance. I was able to watch a movie through my xbox, though the picture was jittery at times. Plugging the tablet directly through hdmi shrunk the interface down to a portion of the tv screen so it was really small with lots of black bar showing. Overall, it was fast, true multi-tasking was great and I wanted to keep it. Maybe I'm used to apple products but the back of the tablet was very cheap feeling and a fingerprint magnet, so a case would be suggested, especially if you have 2 little kids like we do. I unfortunately started having more serious issues as others have seen. On a few of occasions it just wouldn't start. It took a few button presses to get it going. Once it got going, it was fine but that scared me. The keyboard pad was unimpressive and I honestly didn't trust it to do what I wanted all the time. The kicker was when I turned it on after it had been in sleep mode, it came up with an Asus system error message that was sent to Asus and the system had to reboot. This was the final sign to return the device. I've since ordered a MS Surface and am excited to try this but will not be going back to Asus. I think it's a great device that just needs to have better quality control. Price is low but there's probably a reason...

      Dear Valued Customer,

Thank your the good comment with the Transformer Book. Yes, it is a great system indeed, having a touchscreen capabilities and becoming a laptop once docked into the keyboard. We normally recommend installing all recommended WINDOWS Update before using the system for better system stability and performance. Since the updates are being done wirelessly, please ensure a stable wireless network connection was established, a network connection timeout may corrupt system files and may caused system error. The product went to an intensive quality control and inspections with no problem found. If you need further assistance, please email me at cl-rodel@asus.com and write down service# 3257068 on the subject line.

I was really excited to purchase this computer, but my experience has not been good with this particular product. Ergonomically, the power button is too small--- and holding it down too long will cause you computer to shutdown instead of turn on (I lost a hour's worth of work one time). Out of the box, my computer's battery had a faint but high-pitch ringing sound coming out of it when plugged in, indicating a problem with the battery. Fast forward to a month later, and I'm struggling with keeping the battery charged...at all. 3 hours plugged in gets me from 49% to 51%. Chrome has issues on this computer although it's fully compatible, and sometimes connecting to internet can be a headache. My screen does this weird thing where it gets too bright and then reduces the brightness gradually, or suddenly decreases in brightness and brings it back up to where I had it originally. And don't get me started on the Windows button that keeps freezing...While the computer is no longer reliable for me to use on a daily basis for classes and office hours (engineering college student here), I do have to sing praises about ASUS tech support and customer service. I've had to call them multiple times during the three months I've had this computer, and rated each call with 5-stars. If it weren't for the fact that I'd rather get a new computer than send it in and be without a computer for my final exam week, I'd probably utilize my 1-year warranty to get fixed. However, for new product, there's no reason why I should have to send this in 3 months after purchase. For someone just interested in using this to surf the web and not much else, this might be okay... but if you are more tech-savvy and plan on using this computer extensively (think downloading software like Google Earth or using remote desktop for advanced applications), it might be better to look at other ASUS models. **Also, note! The power cord itself is too short. If you do decide to buy this model and don't want to be tethered to a wall, buy a longer power cord for your own sanity. If you use more that one USB item, you'll need to purchase an additional USB hub...and make sure it's one that plugs into the wall since this tablet doesn't have enough power to do that on it's own!

    Decent tablet/charging sucks

I just purchased this tablet two days ago. I am a student as well as running my own business. I originally purchased a surface 2 after being told that it would meet my needs. It took less than 24 hours to discover that the Surface tablet does not meet hardly any of the needs of someone needing the functionality of a lap top. I returned it for this Asus Transformer Book. So far I am enjoying that it does run exactly like my lap top, but with the option of using it like a tablet. I do not like that the tablet does not have a stand option when it is off it's keyboard, so it is kind of a pain. My biggest beef with this tablet so far is the charging is horrible. It comes with a USB cable and it will not charge at all while I am using it. I had it charging for five hours without any use what-so-ever and it went from 23% to 39% in that amount of time. I have not yet decided if this may cause me to return it or not. However, if you are looking for a tablet/lap top combination, I would recommend this product over any other tablets as it will function most like a computer, as long as you're willing to be patient with the charging issues.

I understand that your not satisfied with the product because its not charging properly. Can you please do a battery calibration manually by draining the battery completely without the AC adapter connected then charge it fully without the system being used or power on. I've been a longtime Asus supporter, with the Transformer eePrime. I loved that machine for its battery length and the Android system. As much as I adore the Asus, I'm concerned about its longevity. My first one lasted a year, the second one lasted 1.5 years. i'd bought the Best Buy protection plan, so they replaced both systems...which is how I came to own the t100...the Transformer Prime isn't available anymore. I liked the fact this ran on Windows, but quickly fell out of love because the battery lasts only 5 hours. The desktop feature is extremely hard to read because it's so small. You can enlarge pages within the internet, but you can't enlarge the actual taskbar, so it's an eyestrain. The popups on the internet nearly drove me out of my mind...something I never encountered with Android. I much prefer Android's Playstore because they're geared toward the Android tablets, and work very well. For example, I downloaded several Spider Solitaire programs on the t100, but they wouldn't enlarge, so the cards were really hard to see. Android doesn't have that problem. In fact, the Microsoft store is horrible with their limited selections. Android has them beat at every turn. If it weren't for the horrible battery life, length of time it takes to recharge, and the lousy longevity of Asus tablets, I would love this machine. As it is, I'm returning it and getting a Samsung Galaxy 10.1, and returning to Android.

I wasn't expecting the world for the price, so overall it's not a bad product. II'll agree with all the reviewers here and elsewhere that the keyboard track pad is wonky to say the least. The one thing I haven't read or seen is that in tablet mode, the proportions are awkward... to me anyway. I understand most Windows tablets are proportioned this way. Portrait mode is just plain goofy. Live tiles after updating Windows aren't working. Any suggestions on how to fix would be appreciated. I think it's a decent piece of kit. Screen is good, not great. The Surface 2's screen is much better in my opinion, but of course not full Windows. The keyboard doc seems to be almost a necessity, since you really can't get a cover/ stand for it...can you? Not sure I will keep... I don't like the Live Tile Situation and I think here might be some better Windows 8 tabs around the corner.

Since they were out of stock and had to order it, they would not give me the geek squad bundle for tech probs and accidental damage. Since it was for my child, I bought only the accidental. I'm about a month in and it has frozen up on me, every time I check my e-mail it syncs it to the home screen so anyone who uses is has access to all my emails, in order to use headphones you have to go in sound settings EVERY TIME you plug in or unplug them, and if you push volume up, instead of going up gradually it goes all the way to max volume. You have to turn it up and have your finger ready on volume down...which is not something my 5yo can do! Basically, If they had given me the warranty, it would have been back to them 3x already during it's first month. In addition to all of that, the microsoft market SUCKS! They don't carry most of the most popular games. We can't get angry birds, candy crush, any of the stuff kids like to play on smart phones. Since it is a "test model" for this company there are NO accessories made for it. Couldn't get a screen protector or a cover for it, which is a major disadvantage! If I had it to do over again, I'd have spent a little more and purchased something that was more established.

    Good tablet. Inadequate notebook replacement.

The transformer is well built and, as a tablet, it's not a bad device. As a 10.1 inch tablet, it is just fine .. for a tablet. What it isn't is an adequate notebook replacement for a small number of reasons. 1. Small screen size. While 10.1 works fine as a tablet, it simply is too small for business use. Everything is simply too small to use professionally. 2. The available storage space is too small. With everythign installed, the 32gb storage space only had about 11.4 GB (about 32%) free and if I were to use it to load more apps and store files, that would shrink very quickly. I replaced the unit with a 11.6 notepad/ultrabook that was just as fast, but with B of storage for less money. The extra 1.5" of screen space made a big difference and, with the keyboard, they are nearly the same size and weight. If the Transformer had a minimum of 256GB or storage space, that might have been much better, but my eyes can't make out the small text and the limited brightness controls never did work well for me.

    Not exactly a great tablet

I received my tablet today and couldn't wait to open it the box up. Upon starting up after the registration/setup the start up time was slow. Also the apps are a major let down. Right off the bat I want to download a racing game just to check out the graphics. The major games for the iPhone and what I've seen on my wife's kindle for free are now paid for apps on the transformer. So I downloaded a boat racing game. With any phone or tablet in 2013/14 you can use the tablet and turn the device one direction or another to play a game...I do not know if it was just this particular game but this did not happen. On screen controls had to be used. The App Store is extremely slow. Side by side comparison to the kindle hdx I say the kindle won and the transformer is going back to the store tonight for an exchange. Also the office products that are pre installed is nothing special on the tab, you can set up the trial and pay later or pay now to activate. Either way just because it is included doesn't mean it's free. All in all the display looks nice and expandable memory is nice. The keyboard is a plus but the apps I'm general (not just games) was a let down.

I was given this as a Christmas present. I had wanted a tablet so I could have something smaller than my 15" laptop but larger than my cell phone for portability in the classroom as both a teacher and a grad student. This pumped up netbook seemed like the perfect little compromise; it was nice having the touch screen and apps, but still have the option of using the pc when I needed it. Office was an added bonus. However, with it being a Windows os, there are limitations with the app choices. I use Chrome and Google Drive a lot, especially in the classroom, but the Drive app isn't available with this tablet, so I still had to use the browser. Not a big deal by any means; I had planned on keeping the Asus because otherwise it was awesome. Then less than two weeks after getting it, it wouldn't turn on, even after 10 hours of charging. I took it into the Geek Squad folk and they told me it wasn't holding a charge. I had read in previous reviews that others had had the same issue, so I ended up exchanging it for a tablet with an Andriod os.

I bought the unit at 4pm yesterday and charged overnight. I turned it on and set up everything this morning. After about an hour of use, I got a message saying that I only had 5% battery left and should plug in the charger. I plugged in the charger -- the battery icon said "5% available (plugged in, charging)". After 30 minutes of charging it was down to 2%. After one hour it was down to 0%. It wouldn't run at all without the charger plugged in. Heading back to BestBuy this morning for a replacement, which I really hope will meet all my expectations.

I bought the Asus T100 for my son who wanted to play games and do some homework. For the price you can not beat this table, it's light and compact to take with you and the screen is just big enough to do word processing. The problem I have with it is that i have already rebuilt the OS 4 or 5 times in the last six months. That's absurd. We got to the point where we put all of of the apps in the cloud and the only thing software left in the device is the OS. I have to say that the process to rebuild is not too complex but it does take a long time ~ 30 minutes. I'm not sure if we have defective hardware or its a shortcoming of the OS (Windows 8.1). Another thing is that it doesn't not support 64 bit OS, so you can't play some games. Overall it's a good starter tablet, but next time, i will spend a little more for something that i don't have to troubleshoot as much.

In short, I wish I had gotten an iPad. I wanted the keyboard aspect, but I didn't realize how much I would be sacrificing regarding the touch screen. There are many times, especially when on a website filling out forms, picking dates on sites such as tripadvisor.com, and within other sites, that the touch screen does not seem to "take" the data and I have to switch to the keyboard and trackpad. The keyboard and trackpad are easy to use, it's just kind of a pain switching back and forth. But the mouse pointer doesn't always seem to work well for scrolling, so I use the touch screen, therefore having to switch back and forth. It also sometimes switches to another screen when I am in the middle of something if I touch the screen wrong. Doesn't have many apps unless you go to google apps or something.

The exterior looked great. The interior (meaning the brains of the computer), non existent. Went through the initial set-up procedures and everything went well. Then uploaded Microsoft Office 2013 for Home & Student and that's when the problems began. The screen said that installation was 100% complete but it was hung up (you know, the little circle icon whirling around) and never would stop. Turned it off, then back on/let battery run dead/even took battery out. And even after trying all of those things, would turn it back on and the screen would still show the same thing. Called the 800# provided for tech support. Said they would get back within a couple of days which they did. They couldn't figure out the problem and asked me to take a picture of he screen with my cell phone and send it to them. Are you kidding me I said! Knew right then to take it back. Bought a laptop instead and no, it wasn't an ASUS.

The value is amazing and Intel's atom processor definitely lives up to its name. The processor runs fantastically with only 2 gb ram unfortunately we cant upgrade the ram to at least 4 if so I would probably not be so unsatisfied. I waited a few weeks for this to arrive. All and all, its a great product. If you dont need to do any 3d gaming, run big applications that are graphic intensive, you will be fine. Even tho I am returning it and will be getting a more expensive item, I will still recommend this to anyone looking for a tablet windows computer who cannot afford a surface pro. Good luck.

Icons are on the main screen making it easy to set up. Comes equipped with Microsoft office ( word, excel, ppt ), great for the money ! It does not support "pop" email accounts like Verizon and Comcast. Therefore you will need to use the internet for accessing these email accounts and not the Mail app. Space is rather small, so try not to save much on your hard drive. (only holds about 3-4 movies if you download, your best bet is streaming on net flicks ) Battery life is awesome, about 10 hours. BUT needs to charge overnight with the micro charger. NOT able to use while charging. Tablet portion is heavier than the keyboard, leans a bit when used on your lap version a hard surface table.

This is an OK tablet. It is doing the job but. I have found that the mouse track pad is either very sensitive of very sluggish. Randomly touchy of not wanting to do anything. The screen is bright and looks good far a small screen but, There doesn't seem to be a way to change the font size and it is very small. I don't see all that well and find that I am having a lot of trouble seeing the text on the screen. I don't think it is a windows thing I think it may be a hardware limitation. Other than that the tablet seems to be working OK, and the battery seems to last about 8 hours. For the price it will do what I need it to do.

Most of my problems (except the slow to load) could be caused from inexperience with this media but, it took a trip to Best Buy Geek Squad to get Google email installed and a phone call to Geek Squad (thank goodness I bought the contract for this service) to get the "Webroot" security software installed properly. Another hour to find where the control panel is located to even check what programs downloaded. The MS office (student version) downloaded with no problem so that was a plus and the usb port is another plus. I like the extended SD card feature a lot. Overall it is a good product for beginners but I positively hate a slow loading computer so that is a big negative for me. Thank you.

    Ergumflurgle

I used to have an older model of asus tablets, which I loved using for drawing. It died a couple years ago and I decided to replace it last week with this model. The stylus I got doesn't register half the time and after doing some more research discovered the tablet wasn't pressure sensitive. It's extremely disappointing since my primary purpose for buying it was for art, and the older model WAS pressure sensitive. If I had known before buying I would have bought a Wacom tablet attachment instead of this. Maybe I just overlooked the pressure sensitivity when I was researching what I wanted but it's a huge disappointment. Using it for anything beside art has been great though.

I really like the size and the way the tablet part snaps on and off. The keyboard has clicky buttons which I really like. I like that the keyboard doesn't have to be charged and all the power functions are on the tablet part. I didn't want a Ipad because I have an I phone and they are too similar. I like that this has office and windows 8 so it's like a small laptop excellent for traveling. Can be a little unresponsive if you run too to many items. Overall really good for the price, although I saw this on Groupon for 279.00 and I paid 349.00.
