Windows 10 recognized the drive but only loaded standard drivers. The error message from device manager follows: Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52) I consulted several forums where other people experienced the same problem and no one seemed to have a solution. ASUS told me to contact Microsoft. HA! Like that's gonna happen! I will probably keep the drive in case in need it for a Windows 7 machine.

I tried a different cable, but it simply isn't being seen by the computer anymore. The tray works, and the it spools up the disc, but the computer does not see that there is a drive or mountable disc. I have also tried to use the drive in Linux and Windows. However, the ancient PlexWriter that I've had for around 20 years is still chugging away; it also outlasted a Lite-On DVD-RW drive. It would be nice to have the ability to read DVDs and BluRays, as well, but I guess that's not going to happen. Perhaps the optical drive is truly dead these day.

I ripped the track and it came out the same way. Other cd;s had the same problem. Beacause of New Egg's ridiculous short return period I can't return. Piece of junk, don't buy.
