I'm returning this first thing in the morning! When connected via ethernet, my speeds are approaching 950 Mbps! My old Netgear only got me to around 500 Mbps. As I had mentioned, my speeds over wire were amazing, which prompted me to lower my guard and be happy with my purchase. Little did I know the next few hours were riddled it terrible wireless performance. Perhaps I got a lemon, but I'm not about to replace it to find out! Instead I'm going with something else! The issue was first noticed when I started to use my laptop for some Christmas shopping and both Best Buy and Amazon was struggling to load. Best Buy was worse for some reason. Decided to run a speed test and oddly, Ookla was giving me great speeds over wireless, so I was very confused as to why 90% of the sites I was going to were struggling to load. Even Steam downloads were struggling! In effort to troubleshoot I ran ping tests and saw something rather disturbing. I then decided to run many other speed tests and to my shock and dismay, they were all bad except Ookla. Now I don't even trust Ookla. But I digress. WiFi performance on both Mesh and with one AP (Main unit) were horrible. Under 10 Mbps and often hanging out at 1 or 2 Mbps. I can't believe how bad this thing is. I'm super disappointed!

Works great with the right firmware and Verizon

Just recently upgraded to gigabit internet today (Verizon), I set up the routers using the app (its EXTREMELY easy). When I bought the router about a week ago, I maually upgraded the firmware to the latest available at the time by downloading the files on the asus website (Version: 3.0.0.4.386_40451-g30f1b6c). Everything works perfectly, as you can see from the pictures, I get close to 1000 mbps download and upload through ethernet and 500+/300+ download and upload on WIFI. When I turned on QoS, it tanks my connection and i get under 10 mbps, I would suggest not to turn it on if you use this firmware version. Theres a lot of lackluster reviews for this mesh system but it works fine for me, I would suggest finding a firmware version thats works and not updating it unless problems arise. As the great saying goes, dont fix it if it aint broke. My only grip with this product is that it uses its only ax wifi 6 band for dedicated wireless backhaul. Of course you can wire the backhaul using ethernet to free up the wifi 6 band but im not to fond of drilling holes all over my house to fish wires. It would have been great if all the wifi bands were utilizing the new ax technology.

I have no issues with wifi connectivity or speed. At peak there are 2 phones, 2 tablets, 1 smartwatch, 3 laptops, 6 smart tvs, 3 video game systems, 2 blu ray dvd players, a stereo receiver, and 2 USB storage devices connected over a single story 2500sq/ft home with the 2 routers provided in this package plus a slightly older Asus router that is mesh compatible. All but 2 video game systems, 1 tv, and the stereo receiver are wireless over G, N, or AC. Wired connections use CAT6 or equivilent. Constant gaming, streaming, browsing the web, work video calls etc, no issues. The mesh router thats the "main" one is located close to my cable modem in one corner of the house with the other in this packet in the living room and the 3rd older router in the master bedroom. Setup is easy enough if you read the included instructions and everything else is managed through the network dashboard. Ive been very happy with the product since having it nearly a year now. Only issues ive ever had are a result of the ISP, not the networking equipment. I consider myself an advanced user but nothing involving the setup of this is difficult enough unless you want something that is immediate out of the box or only requires a single button press.

Replaced two Linksys AC routers with the ASUS AX6100 mesh system as 60+ smart devices had ground the Linksys to a halt. Wanted Mesh, AX, multiple ethernet ports, support of ethernet backhaul and support of a large number of connected devices. Asus delivered. Setup was easy and seamless. My 3200 sq foot house is easily covered, inside and out. Went from 4 SSID's to one and best of all, have recovered all the speed I had prior to adding the multitude of smart devices. Paying for 300 from AT&T fiber... getting almost 400 Mbps throughout the house! Fantastic.

Fixed ping and jitter issues for Nvidia Shield TV

I originally had Aimesh using RT-AC88U and RT-AC86U Asus routers. Even though I had the Nvidia Shield plugged into the ethernet port of the RT-AC86U router I had slow pings and jitter above 80. Games would stutter so bad. Setup the RT-AX92U mesh and now ping is much better and jitter hasn't been more than 8. Wi-Fi 6 with these routers is real deal. Setup was easy for me since I'm familiar with Ausu routers. The small form factor is nice but having only 4 ethernet ports is a disappointment as opposed to 8 on the RT-AC88U. The antennas fall down easily as well. The price is a little steep and it's not Wi-Fi 6 certified but being certified doesn't really seem to matter.

Great Solution for Weak Wi-Fi in Complex Networks

I have been a fan of Asus routers for years. They are well made, reliable and feature-packed, especially if you have a complex network and need very granular control over both incoming and outgoing access. I have a very complex home network with 7 smart TVs, 6 DirecTV receivers, two desktop computers, a Windows server, plus 6 laptops, 4 tables, and 3 smartphones. Add to that a Simplisafe system with cameras, two smart thermostats, a Verizon network extender femtocell, plus a few several Wi-Fi enabled appliances and my device count is over 40. I had been handling all this with two Asus routers, and I have as many devices as possible hardwired (most TVs, the DirecTV receivers, desktop computers, and thermostats). Wi-Fi is used by laptops, phones, tablets, and the Simplisafe system. Those two routers handled everything very well, except that I had to remember to switch to the closest one when moving around in the house with a portable Wi-Fi device. If I forgot, and my laptop was connected to the downstairs router when I was upstairs, my video calls and downloads would be slow. I got tired of having to deal with this, so I decided to setup a mesh system. Installing these RT-AX92U routers was fairly straightforward. Since I already have Ethernet wiring throughout my house, I decided to use that as the backhaul connection for the two routers to communicate. Even without that, the routers have a 3rd Wi-Fi channel that can be dedicated to this backhaul connection, but I prefer hardwire as it eliminates any problem with RF interference or slowness due to distance between the routers. In my case, they are over 50 feet apart with many walls and a floor in between. Also, by not using the 3nd channel for backhaul, it doubles my 5Ghz Wi-Fi bandwidth. To setup the system, I designated (and labeled!) one of the pair as the “main” router and configured it for my network. Once it was working as a single router, I hardwired the second router (and labeled it as “node”). All I had to do was go into the main router’s menu and under the AiMesh settings, tell it to find the node. It did that and showed it as hardwired. I then switched off the Wi-Fi backhaul option and now I get the maximum bandwidth. The system works very well. I am getting full Wi-Fi speeds throughout the house and I can walk around without losing connection or slowing down. Now I don’t have to remember to switch networks between areas of the house. Also, the four Ethernet ports on the node router work just like a gigabit switch. I am not certain if this is only the case when using a hardwired backhaul connection, or if they would also work with a Wi-Fi backhaul, but it works well to feed the upstairs desktop computer that it sits next to. Overall, I am highly satisfied with this router bundle and Asus’ AiMesh system. This is no surprise as I have been very satisfied with other Asus routers. I highly recommend this if you need better Wi-Fi coverage.

This set of 2 wifi 6 router / mesh nodes interfaced quickly and seamlessly with my current AX88U router. I had difficulty connecting to the web-based user interface for my original router, until I unplugged the cable from the router. After that everything worked well. You Tube videos helped affirm that I was setting it up correctly to accept the 2 new modes. Once I downloaded the ASUS Router App to my android phone, I found updating the firmware on each device to be very easy. Then I was able to optimize the whole set up with ease. I love the seamless internet I am now enjoying. Every device seems to stay better connected, and it even feels that each device is enjoying better internet speed as well.

These are easy to setup out of the box and work great standalone to cover 2000+ sqft each level. I have one setup in each level and have helped a friend setup the same router. Works great through wireless or wired mesh to counter 5ghz speed reduction through walls. There's also plenty of features on the web interface and app that can give you more insight on what is going on with each device on the network. The only downside is that the antenna may be hard to keep upright for some units. Very sensitive to any movements so would suggest to setup and leave the unit alone for your own sanity's sake.

Had to return other Asus router (AX5400) because the 2.4ghz band was a bit wonky. I need that band because of my network printer and a budget Blu smartphone. This Aimesh package is unreal. Wow! Fast, the app is great, and I added a an AC68U as another Aimesh node without any issues. So far all deadspots alivespots now in and out of my home. Great purchase even if a bit on the pricier side.

This router system is great. The range is awesome! It comes with dedicated two separate 5G and a 2G port to assign specific electronics to. Upgraded from my old router. Also, I bought this because I have a ring doorbell which is not hooked up yet but will dedicate a 5G port to. All I know was how to hook it up. I am tech as far as that goes, but I don’t much about more advanced setups. This was pretty easy to setup.

Had a 4 Velop mesh network throughout the house. Still had several dead spots and slow speeds. Decided to upgrade to WiFi 6 and everyone in my house is very happy that I did. These two units cover all 3 floors (3800 sq ft) and I now get around 500-600 download speed consistently. If you are in market for a router give this system a try. Setup was externally easy and quick. Make sure you update all softwares right away.

Very disappointed, this was purchased to upgrade an older AC3100 duel band to take advantage of additional band and increase reliability. Unfortunately, I have see performance issues with 2g and standard 5G which I wasn't seeing before. Some of the issue might be related to a firmware update on 6/1 which I installed thinking the system was behind in updates. Add to the mix having unreliable comcast as the provider has made it more difficult to pinpoint the issue. My journey to upgrade my environment was prompted by COVID and signing up for GIG speed internet. Initially I used a leased Comcast router/modem, issues with reliability. Switched back to the AC3100, but still had issues but not as bad. Upgrading to newer technology was supposed to give me an improvement in my coverage in the house. Not the case and unfortunately I missed the return window or this would have been returned.

      Dear Scottd1975,

We do understand your disappointment with the product and the inconvenience this may have caused if you are experiencing relaibility issues with the bandwidth.

This may be an internet service or connection related issues since the router will only transmit whatever the ISP is providing. We recommend that you contact Comcast so they can check the connections on their end and verify if your configurations were setup correctly..

I tested 4 Routers: ASUS AX92u ASUS AC88u with AC86U as a AIMESH node VELOP AC2200 NETGEAR Nighthawk Pro Gaming XRM570 WiFi Router and Mesh WiFi System The house is 3200 sq foot with ALOT of walls and 3 floors. The Velop had 4 nodes spread round the house and i received subpar performance with most of my house hold asking why the interned was not working. The ASUS AC88u with AC86U as a AIMESH node, the AC88u on the top floor worked great bu the AC88u used the 5gz wifi channel to communicate back to the AC88u leaving only the 2.4gz channel for wifi connections, no acceptable. Netgear worked very well and out performed the other two at this point, but all routers to this point had issues with 5gz wifi channel interference. And caused either daily or weekly reboots of the router or channel changes. Also the interface of the Netgear is subpar when compared to the features on the ASUS routers. ASUS AX92u WOW covers the entire house WIFI calling works great no drops, the features on the router is amazing and it managers the channels so well i have not had to reboot the router or change a wifi channel thus far. Fantastic performance yes it is the most expensive of the group but worth it to not have the frustration.

The asus setup with a mesh system and the AX88U wasn't as smooth as it should be. Asus firmware isn't always the best as in updates might break some functionality. To get the setup working mostly flawlessly I have scheduled weekly rests of the router and AiMesh nodes. Once you get past the firmware issues and get a stable setup, the coverage and speeds are great!

These are a bit expensive but they work great! I have a Asus RT AC5300 as my main router in my office in the basement. On the main floor and 2nd level I have one each of the AZX6100. Setting these up was super easy and provides great coverage through my home. I have gigabit internet and get about 700 download in my office 3 feet from my router. Main floor connected to the the mesh node I can get between 300-500 download. 2nd level I can get about 300-400 download. This is much better than not having the mesh network setup. I was barely hitting 25 download on the 2nd level without a mesh network.

I had an older AC3100 / RT-AC88U I was running a mesh with two other routers, one using powerlink ethernet backhaul. That was wall replaced with this 2 Pack. I like the Asus System and the amount of fine control that comes with an out of the box OS, so I don't have to go burn one of the customer OSs. I finally have a stable fast enough Wifi to run my Smart TV at rates twice what I was getting with a hard-wired connection. Supporting Both WAN and LAN aggregation the 4 ports run out very fast. I miss the 8 Ports of my older router but a low cost switch can cover that for my uses.
