Customers are impressed with the touchscreen, battery life, and performance of the 14" 2-in-1 Chromebook. Many also appreciate its ease of use and the ample RAM for a Chromebook. However, some customers find the weight to be a drawback, and a few have noted limitations with the operating system and its compatibility with certain applications. The price-to-performance ratio is frequently praised.

Didn't think I would like a chromebook this much

The 14" ASUS chromebook comes with a few surprises. Most are good, but some leave things to be desired.
Lets get the bad things out of the way so we can appreciate everything else later. Well, its a lot heavier than I expected. I got it for my kid, but this thing requires her to lug it around with both hands and I am afraid a simple slip of hand will break the device but will also break her toe for sure. I have a 14" Dell AMD 5 series 2 in 1 flip touch screen windows machine that is significantly lighter than this.
Other than that this is a beautiful piece of machinery, I really like the matte finish all over, does not catch any fingerprints. And its heft comes with a benefit that this thing is solidly built. Being a 2 in 1, you never feel like this has to be treated gently when moving the screen around. The hinge has the perfect balance of being able to open it with 1 finger, but being stable enough that it stays put no matter what angle you leave it at, all the way fully folded like a laptop. And when you do flip it all the way over the chromebook is smart enough to disable all keys and trackpad, so accidental hits don't register.
It's got a touch screen with 16:10 aspect ratio (appreciate the extra real estate).
2 USB C ports both with power delivery 1 on each side, so you can plug in either side and don't have to drag your power cord all the way behind your laptop
A full size HDMI port and a 3.5mm headphone/mic combo port - both of which cannot be taken for granted anymore. And it also has an additional USB A port, a micro SD slot + a volume rocker on the side. There is not much to complain about in the IO department
The processor and the 8GB ram chewed through everything I threw at it with a kid's workload in mind. And I don't intend to use it for much else - web browsing, doc and sheet editing, video viewing - no hitches.
Its a definite recommendation, but please weigh the weight issue per your needs.

The ASUS - 14 INCH CHROMEBOOK is a very good option for those in need of a device that's affordable and reliable. I own a few products from ASUS and they are one of the best electronics companies out there. Obviously this is a chromebook laptop and not a windows 11 laptop. Chromebook does have thousands of apps that your can use for your everyday needs. Receiving and sending emails. Streaming your favorite shows. Browsing the web and much much more. You get a decent processor, the AMD Ryzen 3 with 8Gb of Ram and 128Gb of storage. Plus it's a touch screen . Its like having a laptop and a tablet together. You get a USB port and a hdmi port. With the USB you can plug in almost anything to it. With the hdmi you plug it to your tv or monitor if that 14 inch screen isn't enough for you. It's very light almost 4 lbs and .82 inches thick. It's easy to carry with you. You get a good battery it says it's able to last 10 hours depending on use. Of course you can run several apps at once but that does drain battery, but it runs great i had no issues doing that

Initially I wanted a chromebook just for a little browsing on the internet and that's all I thought they were good for. The only chromebooks I had seen in the past was the beast of a machine assigned my daughter's school and I don't mean that in a good way. When I opened this box, I was more than surprised! This one was beautiful! This is also my first away from intel. This comes with AMD Ryzen 3 quad core processor, 8GB Ram memory and 128GB SSD. The build quality is excellent! The display quality is great and it's a touchscreen! touchpad is very responsive. Sound is decent. I always appreciate a backlit keyboard and the micro SD slot is a nice bonus.
I've since learned that with Google's apps, this is more than just a browsing computer. This can handle your productivity and even some gaming with Google's store. Anything done that's web based, can be done with this machine. It's capable, responsive, quick, and well built! I wasn't as familiar with chromebooks except what my daughter used for school, I'm glad I got this one!

Pros: Nice device. Quick and snappy. Looks and feels nice. Dark blue color. Great battery life. Was able to get it on sale for $279.
Cons: Screen glare is obvious. It's a little heavy for its size.
Caveat: I got a weird "rdseed" error when running some code of mine on the debian linux instance (debian worked perfectly except for this). The issue *may* have to do with the AMD card (based off some things I read), but I'm not sure. That said, 99% of users don't need to worry about this obscure programming error I encountered.

Add this to the list of great chromebooks on the market right now. Asus is a trustworthy tech company and this Chromebook stands up to their reputation. 14’ screen is larger than most chromebooks on the market so to me this feels more sturdy than others of smaller sizes. The color is a nice dark blue which I find to be a breath of fresh air compared to the blacks and silvers that flood the market. With 8GB memory and a 128GB SSD, this packs the punch of a laptop. Actually other than the word Chromebook in the product name, you’d never suspect this was a Chromebook. It’s not even a whole inch thick, and weighs under 4lbs. Super portable! I’d put this Chromebook in a more adult quality category than most others. It has multiple ways to use it. Laptop, tablet, fold it backwards and use it for on the go presentations. There’s is also a built in microphone and webcam so there’s no need for extra purchases or equipment. This Chromebook is every multitasker or business workers dream. I didn’t have any issues with lag or crashing and I had multiple programs open.

My Go To Laptop

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
The ASUS 14" Chromebook with an AMD Ryzen 3 7320C processor, 8GB of memory, and a 128GB SSD is an impressive device that offers a range of features catering to various user needs. In this review, I'll evaluate its military-grade durability, touch screen responsiveness and sharpness, portability, trackpad performance, Chrome OS versatility, and battery life.
1. Military-Grade Durability:
The ASUS Chromebook boasts military-grade durability, ensuring it can withstand rugged conditions and daily wear and tear. This feature provides users with peace of mind, especially those who are often on the move or use the device in more demanding environments. The sturdy build and robust materials make this Chromebook suitable for students, professionals, and anyone who requires a reliable and durable laptop.
2. Touch Screen Responsiveness and Sharpness:
The inclusion of a touch screen on a Chromebook enhances its versatility and user experience. The responsiveness of the touch screen on the ASUS 14" Chromebook is commendable, providing smooth navigation and effortless interactions. Additionally, the display's sharpness ensures that visuals are clear and vibrant, making it ideal for streaming content, creative work, and general browsing.
3. Portability:
As a 14-inch Chromebook, this device strikes a good balance between screen size and portability. It's light and compact enough to carry around comfortably, making it an excellent choice for frequent travelers, students, or professionals who need to work on the go. The slim and sleek design further adds to its portability factor, easily slipping into bags without adding much weight.
4. Trackpad Performance:
While the trackpad on the ASUS Chromebook is serviceable, it may not stand out as exceptionally smooth or precise. It performs adequately for most tasks, but users who heavily rely on trackpad gestures might find it slightly lacking compared to higher-end laptops. However, this can be mitigated by using an external mouse if needed.
5. Chrome OS Versatility:
Chrome OS is well-known for its simplicity, speed, and cloud-based approach. It offers a wide range of productivity and entertainment apps through the Chrome Web Store, making it suitable for both work and leisure activities. For users who mainly work within web-based applications and Google services, Chrome OS provides a smooth and hassle-free experience.
6. Battery Life:
Battery life is a critical aspect of any Chromebook, and the ASUS 14" Chromebook excels in this department. Thanks to its efficient hardware and Chrome OS's optimization, it offers impressive battery life that can easily last a full work or school day on a single charge. Users can confidently leave their chargers at home and remain productive throughout the day.
Conclusion:
The ASUS 14" Chromebook with AMD Ryzen 3 7320C, 8GB memory, and 128GB SSD is a well-rounded device that offers military-grade durability, a responsive touch screen with sharp visuals, and excellent portability. While the trackpad is only average, it shouldn't hinder everyday tasks. The Chrome OS provides a straightforward and versatile computing experience, and coupled with the impressive battery life, this Chromebook becomes a reliable companion for both work and leisure, especially for those who need a lightweight and durable device for on-the-go use.

By Chromebook specs, this would be a mid-range model. Entry level Chromebooks would typically have less ram/storage and for a mid-range model, this felt like it was well equipped.
What's to love:
- The screen is a nice 16:10 aspect ratio which means when you're viewing webpages or spreadsheets on the display, you can view more information in the viewing area with less scrolling.
- The physical web cam cover is a nice addition as well. I didn't have to resort to Post-It notes or electrical tape.
- Ports: I mainly leave my laptops plugged in, so taking away one USB-C for that you're left with an additional USB-C 3.2 Gen 2, USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, headphone jack, microSD (weird that it's microSD instead of a full SD), HDMI 2.1 and aging Kensington lock slot.
- It came with 100GB of storage for a year as part of a 12-month subscription to Google One. I hesitated to put that in my review, but I feel it's important because it nearly doubles the storage space you have available.
What could've been better:
- It is nice that it comes with a 1080p camera, but using the webcam was a quick lesson in why there's more to camera quality than resolution. It wasn't the worst I've experienced on a laptop but it was far from the best at the same time.
- The 2-in-1 design is nice but when you fold it back to use it "like a tablet" the feature starts to feel gimmicky. It feels like some part of the experience is missing and I think it's a stylus. I started to think about it and it seems like these days you'd be hard-pressed to find a tablet that doesn't support a stylus and more-and-more 2-in-1 laptops do as well.
- The ChromeOS setup is a little tedious. You pretty much have to have a Google/Gmail account to complete the initial setup, but there is a way to use it afterwards without a Google/Gmail account, but you should be aware that the laptop functionality is limited when used in Guest mode. This applies to apps, settings and much of the data/settings is erased when the session is concluded.
- The weight and thickness of this laptop stood out quite a bit. It definitely feels like the laptop is at least 4 pounds if not slightly heavier. The thickness of the laptop (when you look at it from the side) isn't for the ports, so it makes you wonder (again) about that omission of a stylus.
- A fingerprint reader in lieu of traditional password input would be nice.
- Battery life was shorter than I'm used to. I don't have prior experience with another Chromebook to compare this one with though, so that could be subjective. It would easily make it thru a school day if that helps to give you a benchmark reference point.
- Keyboard travel was a slight adjustment for me. Not bad, but just different than I'm used to and took a minute to get used to (the Chromebook keyboard layout is also ever so slightly different).
TLDR: As far as Chromebooks go, this is an above-average mid-range. Personally, I would want more storage (at a minimum, maybe more RAM). So while I would likely buy something with slightly better specs and smaller in thickness/weight, I could easily recommend or see myself buying this as a (say) graduation gift for someone that prefers the ChromeOS platform.

Very nice basic notebook

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
This Asus 14" Chromebook is a very nice basic notebook for anyone who just needs a simple computer to get online. This notebook has a 14" 1920x1080 screen, AMD Ryzen 3 CPU, 8GB RAM,128GB SSD, and HD webcam. These are all very basic specs that won't blow your socks off, but they are more than enough to get the job done. The only one I'd prefer just a bit higher is the SSD. 128GB is awfully low, but I guess they are assuming you will use cloud storage more than anything. The build quality of this computer feels very nice, as I have come to expect from Asus products. One thing I think that was a little glossed over in the product description is that this is a 2 in 1 notebook, meaning it can also be used as a tablet of sorts. The screen can be folded all the way back, flat against the keyboard, and it is a touch screen (again, I don't think that was mentioned in the description). This is a very nice option for anyone that thinks they might use it this way. Now, it's a 14" full size notebook, so I don't think this will be replacing anyone's ipad or other tablets, but it's nice to be able to use it in this way when needed. Performance for this notebook is very nice. It starts up relatively quickly thanks to that SSD. Apps seem to open very quickly and everything just seems to work as you would expect. Battery life is also very good. Asus claims 10 hours, and I think that is a relatively good estimate. I used this notebook for about an hour a day, every day for about a week, and I never had to recharge it. Overall I think this is a really nice notebook. The biggest thing that stood out to me was the Chrome OS. It is a little different to get used to, but is very simple. It's similar enough to Windows that I don't think anyone would have too much trouble adapting. The more plugged in to Google services you are, the better the experience will be. Like if you use gmail, google drive, docs, etc, then you will already have a lot of what you need right when you sign in. If you use other apps, there is an app store, so you'll just have to find the apps you do use. In conclusion, this is a very well built, simple notebook. It is not the most powerful, but it gets the job done, and Chrome OS really depends on cloud services more than anything, so you don't really need super high end hardware to have a good experience with it. This is a great option for anyone who just needs a notebook to get them online.
