Needed a faster router to meet 200+ Mbps speed I paid for. Had an old Netgear and bought this. Simple to set up once I plugged it in and downloaded the app. The app lets me set up speeds and monitor who is logged on to the Wifi. After install was getting over 300 Mbps (on a quiet day)! Range is excellent and it can reach the farther areas of the house.

Excellent router. It was extremely easy to setup and I have had zero issues with it. The range is superb and the speed is as advertised. I am using this in a 2,500 sq foot house with more than 20 devices connected to it. It replaced a netgear router that would constantly drop devices and have to be rebooted.

I would give this 5 stars, I’ve had it for almost 2 yrs. Up until a update 3 days ago and now it’s fried. But to be honest I’m about to buy another one of the same kind. I have gig internet with spectrum. I had 22 devices set up to internet. It was flawless until this update . I’m going to extend my warranty this time thou.

After using the Ubiquiti for the better part of a year, I decided to make a change, as the shortcomings became too much to deal with. This leads me to the router that all reviewers say is the best on the market, the AX86U. Keep in mind the Unifi HD is only an AC router and this is an AX router. Yet both wired and wireless the Unifi seems to be roughly the same speed as this router, with my gigabit connection. I was not expecting this at all. Fortunately, I didn't drop the Unifi HD because it was slow, as it wasn't. I dropped it because it had almost no ability to configure any advanced features. The AX86U is exactly the opposite of the Ubiquiti as it has a ton of configurable features. With this router, I have all of the following features, that were missing from the Ubiquiti... *VPN for all devices (not just mobile) *Separate passwords for each SSID *Logging of all events and errors *Aggregated connection *2.5 Gbps Connection *Dedicated gaming port *Complete customization of all network settings *SD Card slot *Dual USB ports *Outbound VPN as well as Inbound *Guest Wi-Fi you can disable *160 MHz frame size *WPA3 *Certificate-based VPN Server I'm sure there's more, but you get the picture. I can pair this up with an Asus Ai Mesh Extender and likely have similar coverage with better options, for the same price as the Ubiquiti. If you can find one of these Asus Routers, just keep walking past the Ubiquity section, as this is all you will ever need.

Good and easy setup, the range is excellent, and I went from only being able to have 20 fps on my quest 2 (due to bandwidth/devices, when would turn on soundbar would drop to 12 fps) on my previous wifi router to 60 fps (with no loss due to the soundbar starting up).

FAST and Flexible WiFi 6 router at a good price

First of all, this router is FAST. I admit that I replaced an old Apple Airport Express with it, but after replacement, my WiFi speeds approximately doubled. My internet connection is limited to about 120 Mbps by my provider, and over a WiFi connection (to an XPS 17 9700) I am achieving download speeds of 116Mbps -- no different than if I try the same test with a wired connection to the router. Secondly, it has lots of flexibility for NAS, MediaServer and Time Machine backups. In fact I have all three running. With two USB 3.0 ports on the router, I have one 14TB WD drive connected formatted as NTFS which is use for PCs on my net and a NAS, and a second 4TB drive formatted as HFS+ which I use for TimeMachine and a MediaServer. Now I can backup all my Macs with TimeMachine, backup my PCs and store files on the NAS, and access the MediaServer from multiple Rokus all with the same router. And did I say it was FAST? Fairly easy to setup, too, once I figured out what to put one each drive, etc.

We were using a 10 year old Airport Extreme router that just couldn't keep up with the multiple smart devices in our home. After researching a number of routers from TP-link, Netgear, Linksys, Arris, etc... The Asus brand of Wifi6 routers kept showing up as the best routers for online gaming. We are not gamers (yet) but the router has definitely increased the speed in which our devices connect to the internet. The range of our network has increased also. The media room tv streams 100% faster than before. I love the convienence of the mobile app that allows the user to monitor your network and adjust router settings. I highly recommend this router!

I purchased this router to replace a 7-year-old AC-series ASUS router that was still going strong, but was reaching the end of its relevant life. I was happy with it from day one and am just as happy with my new RT-AX86U. My WiFi6 devices are noticeably faster as are R/Ws to my Samba/USB-connected storage devices. I have great WiFi coverage throughout the house with plenty of capacity for browsing and 4k streaming. The GUI interface is intuitive with helps provided where needed and the available ASUS-Merlin firmware unlocks even more functionality. The 2.5Gb port and link-aggregated 1Gb ports help me squeeze every bit of capacity out of my internet plan. Highly recommended.

I have bought 7 of these routers for my house and 2 friends' houses, to build AiMesh systems with ethernet backhaul. This config is the fastest and best range mesh system I've come across, except maybe the much more expensive RT-AX88U. I have not had any stability issues. Also very important for me is that it's able to put all the nodes on DFS channels, which is a life saver if you have close neighbors using WiFi. AND they can all be 160MHz wide (8-channel aggregation) for the best throughput! 2 or 3 RT-AX86U's have become my go-to solution for whole-house near-gigabit WiFi. Just keep in mind that if you DON'T have ethernet backhaul, then this is not a good option because it's dual-band instead of tri-band.

This by far is the best router i've ever had and its capabilities speak for itself. Out of the box it works smoothly and connects quite fast, also my security concerns have been answered by the protection they offer with OpenVPN that ASUS allows to be used. So if you want a router that works right out of the box without any problems and an easy user interface to understand then this is the router for you. It also reached speeds I pay my ISP effortlessly, more than any other router I have purchased (in this year).

Tired of trying to prop up my ISP router's lackluster Wi-Fi coverage with various wired and wireless extenders I decided to just replace it. The RT-AX86U was easy to setup and massively improved my Wi-Fi coverage and more than doubled my Wi-Fi speeds even at the edges of my house. Gaming on my Xbox Series X is much improved, and I can use my laptop on the porch as reliably as I can plugged inside my home office. While I thought I needed a better mesh product to cover my house, as it turns out, I just needed a better *router*, though I appreciate having the mesh features should my needs change.

Good router with good security. Set up is fairly easy. This is my 5th Asus VPN router. They all have served me well. Like the built-in USB printer server. I have my Dymo Label printer connected to it and shared across the network.

This router is great. I use it for streaming and gaming (simultaneously) and it keeps up without any issues. Pretty good range too. I can mow every corner of my lawn and never come close to losing connection (unlike my previous router, which was old but functional). I had a lot of issues getting a Google Chtomecast to stay connected after first setting it up. That was very frustrating, and I coukdnt tell if it was a router issue or a Chromecast issue. But, after several reboots of both the Chromecast and the router, that problem finally went away, so who knows. The Asus phone app is pretty cool too. Can monitor everything going on with the router and uodate lots of settings. Overall, totally happy with it. Great router! Looks cool, too.

For context, this router is replacing a Google OnHub router, a 1900AC router. Setup very easy using the recommended Asus Router app. Everyone in my household now has the app on their phone and can conveniently see the status of the router. The range is better than our last router. Our phones are our only devices which have Wifi 6 and we don't do anything that demanding on them to really test the bandwidth. We have a 1gig connection and speed has never been a problem anyway. I got this router mostly since our OnHub was no longer being supported by Google and would no longer get security updates. Asus has a reputation for supporting the software on their products for many years so I am hopeful that will be the case for this router too, but only time will tell

Save your money. Don't buy a Netgear. To block a device that connect to your network will cost you 29.99 a month. To filter out what your child views on then internet will be under that price for subscription as well. This is cheap and has great range and connectivity.
