ASUS - Dual Band WiFi 6 Model:RTAX86U
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My old Asus router was about 6 years old and still working. Because of it's age I decided to update. I have a smart house with fiber optic to the side of the house with about 25 clients connected. I'm not a gamer but I believe a fast router is key. First thing I noticed is in house apps are faster when making changes like temperature or Hue lighting. I have the hue lighting plugged into the priority ethernet port and noticed an improvement after moving it to that port as I don't play games. The other thing like others have said, use the auto setup and life is good. Very happy with my choice and I do not consider other brands..

ASUS Gigabite VPN router - AXRT86u Pro
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good router with good security. Set up is fairly easy. This is my 5th Asus VPN router. They all have served me well. Like the built-in USB printer server. I have my Dymo Label printer connected to it and shared across the network.

Best Router I've Ever Owned
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I don't really write reviews, but this is the one chief. After moving we upgraded to gigabit internet, and the old TP-Link Archer A7 AC1750 would not keep up. The AX86U is a killer. WiFi6, 2.5gbe, very easy install, simple and complete control in the dashboard. Insane wifi speeds even from across our apartment. We have tons of devices (shield TV, PCs, Macs, Switch, TVs, watches, phones) all connected with zero issues. If you're looking for a new router, as other people have said: just get this. It's worth every cent.

Beast
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Replaced an older Asus Model: RTN66R, purchased on: March 12, 2014. Probably overkill, but now with Wifi 6E on the horizon, i doubt i'll be updating this for a while. Handles all of our devices with ease, no dropped connections, and most important, i can get 5Ghz connection to the two upstairs rooms, where as before only a weak 2.4ghz connection was possible.

The true successor to the ac86U has arrived
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.haven't been using this router long, so I'll be sure to update my rating if something bad happens. So far it's been incredibly easy to set up. Updating the bios at the initial startup was extremely easy, and everything worked without a hitch. As for signal strength, I'm getting rock solid results about 30 feet away (and through one interior wall). The only caveat to my review is that I'm still using an AC type adapter, so I haven't been able to take advantage of wifi 6 yet. However, I'm really pleased with the performance so far, and increased speed with a wifi 6 adapter would only make it better.

Great universal router
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Saved my internet. Initially thought it was the modem, but really needed a router to split the work. Highly recommend this router, high speeds and worth the price.

Awesome Router
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Most routers are functional, however this one is superb. I get great signal in my farthest point of a 4000 square foot house, which is all concrete and steel girders.

Great router for the money and Asus is a solid bra
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve used Asus routers for several years and been very happy with him. This one has honestly been the pinnacle of my purchases in that it’s the best model I’ve ever bought. I use this as my primary and I use two other Asus router’s in a mesh system that works really well. And on top of that if you’re even a little more adventurous, like me, there’s great custom firmware you can purchase for this router that will give you capabilities that other routers Don’t even attempt. If you’re looking for a great router for the money, go with ASUS. It even has a pretty good security package for people who don’t know much about it.

Good router overall
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall nice router from Asus. Wireless range is good. Good signal strength everywhere in my 2400 sq ft home with the router installed in a corner room on the first floor. Speed is good. Limited only by the enpoint device capabilites and 500Mbps internet connection. Minus one star becaus i found out there are known issues with the traditional QoS that Asus has not been able to fix for several years. My internet connection is 500Mbps. With traditional QoS enabled, my speed was limited to 100Mbps. Turned off QoS and now i get 500Mbps. May want to look elsewhere if robust QoS is very important to you. That said, i have not noticed any issues while having the QoS disabled.

Great router with fantastic performance
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This has been a wonderful router. The ASUS stock firmware is alright but I was able to install the third party asus_merlin firmware and it really improved the featureset. Performance is fantastic though.

Superior Wireless Performance - Glitch Free
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This router is awesome! Excellent signal strength, excellent speed even with Trend Micro protection enabled. I'm getting close to 1Gb wireless speeds on download using Xfinity cable modem. Zoom meetings are clean and clear with 3 clients on this end. This router delivers throughout my house without using a mesh!

Asus RTAX86U review
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The set up process went smoothly. So far the speed of both the 2g and 5g bands are good, and I have good coverage throughout my two-story home. I am pleased with the performance. At any given time I have 3 Echo shows, two Echo dots, 2 phones, 2 tablets, and one computer (and sometimes--one laptop) connnected to my network. In addition, I stream TV. I have not yet tried the router with gaming.

Great Router for the money
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve owned this router for a few months now and would like to say that it’s the best router I’ve owned to date. With having ATT fiber and using their modem as a pass through, this router is the only one I’ve gotten close to getting the full 1GB speeds. Tests I’ve gotten are 940-960 down/Up. I’ve tried more expensive routers and they would max out around 600-700 no matter what I changed. The app is also a great tool to see what on your network is actively using bandwidth and can view, limit, and block devices you don’t want using bandwidth at any given time.

Great WiFi 6 Router
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We've been using Asus routers for years, since they started AiMesh, basically. We already have 2 RT-AC86U routers, but we now have Wi-Fi 6 AX devices, and high-speed internet, so we decided to upgrade the main router and use the other 2 as AiMesh nodes. We have all 3 routers connected via ethernet backhaul. The 3 router AiMesh combination we have set up is almost overkill. Most of our devices just connect to the new router. Regardless, we now have reliable Wi-Fi over most of a square acre, and very fast Wi-Fi speeds inside the house. I'm impressed.

Good coverage, App makes it worth it
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good coverage, but and speed. App is great for parents to monitor kids and limit certain websites. Covered a 2800 sq ft area, would not make coverage thru brick into garage.
