I exchanged the netgear for the asus rt ax86u and let me tell you these 2 are night and day the asus is so much faster and easier to use the gui is so much better. I have now just became a new asus fan and wont look at another netgear router again. The setup is very easy and i also install merlin on it as well. Great job asus. Iwould highly recommend this to anyone.

Worth the money! Great router!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great router!. Fast, responsive, small footprint and easy to set up if you've already have an older model of an Asus router. I was able to transfer previous setup to this router without any fanfare. When I contacted Asus and asked if my AC68P 's config would transfer, initially they stated Yes, then when questioned again, they said no. I was pleased that I had no issues with Merlin-Asus firmware and everything transferred over just fine. AI Mesh also worked for me again with little fanfare. Would highly recommend this router.

Finally 1 Gps Speed Internet when NightHawk8000
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.couldn't. Wired becomes a Beast! I am happy with my purchase. It has so many features for me to understand to make it work to its full potential! I will be studying it more. Easy to install and get to gaming pretty quick. It drops to almost half the speed in other rooms in the home using wifi but still very happy with the speeds. Like I said I will look into it more.

Great Coverage
||Posted . Owned for 10 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had this router in use for just under a year. I purchased it to quickly get some wifi up and running in my new home. I had planned to upgrade to a mesh setup, or use additional access points but that has not been necessary. I get great 5Ghz coverage on three floors of a 3,000 sq. ft. house, two main floors and a basement. I'm not a power user or a networking expert, but this thing has been worth the money.

Great WiFi Improvement
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The coverage and speeds couldn't be better. I replaced an Apple Airport Extreme network that had two wired backhaul tower style units and an additional unit to extend the WiFi signal. This one unit covers even more area then I did with Apple setup. If you are looking to improve you WiFi signal pick one up, you won't be disappointed. This can also be used as a mesh network, so if the signal needs to be extended it can grow as needed. I was very happy I could meet my WiFi needs with just one unit.

Great Wi-Fi Router!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Prior to buying this ASUS WiFi 6 router, I had used Netgear routers because of familiarity. They had always been slightly unstable but I learned to live with it. With my new ASUS router I could not be more happy. The setup was very easy and UI (user interface) was simple to navigate. Additionally, the router has been very stable since purchasing a month ago. I have even seen a slight range increase as well!

Best Wireless Router for large home
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this to replace a 10 year old Netgear Gigabit router. The coverage is much better. My house is two floor 3600 sq ft and 95% 4 - 5 bars. Very easy to install with the app or web interface (I love the app, very informative as to network activity). Had to disable wifi 6 to get it to work with my older clients. Nice warrenty and free virus protection for the life of the router. I read reviews where the router wifi chips fail after about a year? We will see it that is true. I hope not.

WI-FI 6 ASUS RT-86U Rocks
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love my ASUS RT-AX86U. Setup was quick and easy. Downloaded the App to my phone and find it's very user friendly allowing you to easily manage your network, devices. This unit seamlessly directs frequency traffic to ensure our gamer, video streaming, and just plain web surfing operates as max efficiency. To take the best advantage of any wi-fi 6 router, I'd suggest you check your existing devices to verify the network cards support wi-fi 6 (drivers should be ax...) or can be easily updated.

So far, this router is great
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far, it’s great. Setup took 10 minutes. Speed was at maximum without adjusting any settings. The router settings page is deep with options. Some of this stuff I’ll never touch. 30 of 31 devices attached right away, and it appears that I’m okay without a triband router. I was able to install the router without using the Asus app—therefore, no need to use a login via Asus. Still, I’m wonder about router-dot-asus-dot-com to manage the router instead of the typical home IP address.

Speedy, reliable, and easy-to-use
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this router after my aging router died on me while I was downloading the Call of Duty: Vanguard beta. I quickly looked up reviews for the best routers available at Best Buy, and this router seemed to be the best choice for me. It was easy to install, and the associated ASUS Router phone app works well. So far, it has been a reliable performer, delivering fast internet speeds while supporting multiple connected devices. I am definitely a satisfied customer.

Great AX router with advanced features
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've owned this router for 3+ weeks. It replaced another Asus RT-AC68R router. So far the wireless performance has been much better than the AC router in both range/speeds for both Wi-fi 6 clients and Wi-fi 5. I had some headaches with TVs and other internet enabled appliances not working with this router on initial setup. After a couple of days of troubleshooting, I determined that setting secure management frames as "required" Vs "optional" was the root cause. Many internet devices (not PCs, phones, tablets) only connect when secure management frames are optional. I might have been able to replicate my old router configuration on this one through Asus backup/restore feature - but I wanted to take the opportunity to get it configured right Vs importing legacy settings. The NAS drive option works well and is generally 2-3x faster than my old router. I hooked up two drives to the USB ports and you get the consolidated/aggregate folder view from both drives when you connect via UPnP or SMB clients. Another quirk is that I had to set up a separate ID to access files via SMB - the router login ID/password did not work as they did on my older router. I got this Asus router in order to be able to use the AI Mesh feature in conjunction with my old router. I haven't had to use AI Mesh given the improved range on this router. Common to Asus routers: I like the automatic firmware upgrade feature and the fact that I can schedule periodic reboots for the best performance. I read many reviews before purchasing this router and its performance has lived up to the billing.

Good router
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good router for the money, easy to customize. Need to access from phone app so I took a star off for that. I dislike this trend in routers as it adds a security risk that doesn't need to be there.

||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great wifi 6 router. Works with gigablast without any issues. It was easy to set up. We were up and running within minutes. The app is easy to use as well. It's nice to have parenting controls on my phone. This was out of stock for some time and we waited until it was available again.

Great wifi gaming router, slow web interface
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been cautiously surveying the landscape for a decent but overpriced wifi router than can handle two internet connections. This fits the bill. Mostly. 2.5g wifi coverage for all my smart home devices works perfectly with full bars nearly everywhere. 5 g not as much, while not terrible was hoping for just a little tiny bit more. The Dual Wan features are helpful but often troublesome for my specific setup; one internet connection has more bandwidth available, but higher latency, while the other is opposite. So the majority of my devices need to be on one connection and one or two can be on the other (gaming). Setting it to 'Fallback' seems like a great idea! But detection for a poorly performing internet connection doesn't trigger with the default settings. Its not superclear on how to get it to 'work' in my use case. Setting it to 'Load Balance' isn't recommended (if your internet connections aren't the same speed), the workaround, does work, but requires you to manually enter a route one (either primary or secondary internet) selecting the IP address per each device. This means you'll have to navigate (slowly) to another screen to manually set your ip address for the said device. All the while your router will reboot itself each time, making you wait and relogin. If you've got smart home devices you can expect to repeat this process at least a dozen times. Prepare to set aside a few hours to make this work and don't expect your internet connection to function while you're doing so. I guess, if Asus is listening, please let us simply define a 'catch all' option to let, for example, all of the 5g connections to go to the main internet and the 2.5g connections to secondary, or at least permit wildcard IP address selectors.

The Best!
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.ASUS is my go to for Network devices. Their products are well supported by the company with bugfixes and firmware updates. The ability to install 3rd party firmware is also a huge plus (Merlin). This is one of the best routers on the market, feature rich, with excellent security included at no additional cost! Supports gigabit speeds and great WIFI signal strength!
