ASUS Routers are Great, but expensive

Performance and features are great, but this router is expensive. Nonetheless, I am extremely happy with it and with ASUS. The software allows for a lot of customization if you are a person that likes to tinker with the configurations.

A router like no other I’ve had before

I was very skeptical to pay this much for a router. However, after using it for the past month, I have to say I’m beyond impressed with the performance. There are areas of my home in which a repeater used to be needed and now I receive fast internet in all parts of my home with just the WiFi range of this router. BTW, the WiFi and wired speeds are equally impressive. If you’re on the fence about whether or not to purchase this router like I was, I can tell you that this thing is built for the future…get it…you won’t regret it.

I like to start by saying, when i got this it was hard to get. Amazon sold out fast had to wait another month to try. I like supporting my local business then just going to amazon. After months BestBuy had it under coming soon. I check every day several time. Got home from work one day and checked Bestbuy. It was finally there. I bought it faster Homer Simpson eating donuts. First time I tried to use windows computer it fail to connect under 5ghz and not three. 2.4ghz would connect with speed test less then 1Mps!. Computers would work only by changing router to turning wifi ax mode off on the app. Wifi 6 phone work great and amazon 4k stick (wifi 5) work in wireless ax mode. Ex 200mps 802.11ax on vs 140mps in 802.11ax off. I though it was a bug, i wanted to wait for update (last one march 2021). There was a windows update 21H1 which I would normally wait least a month before updating. Took a chance with 21H1. It was there in a 802.11ax mode. 5ghz was there! Plus 2.4ghz giving me over 100 mps maybe more if VPN Fusion was off. Speaking VPN Fussion. It was main reason I bought it. It can make 4 VPN connections. Plus regular connections. While having the ability to choose which device would connect to. Sadly Openvpn is available instead of the newer and faster connections wireguard. It is very unlikely to ever see this feature ever added. It does not support DNS-over-HTTPS. Which is more secure and ENCRYPTED dns connection. There is a lot more positive then there negative.

I’ve had this router for about 3 months now. It’s worked flawlessly. I have about 35 devices connected all the time and I’ve never had any issues. No random disconnects or anything else to make me question the router. We’ll worth the money to upgrade. Definitely more a future proof but since there’s not much out there right now that uses the WiFi 6e band. Also we do lots of steaming and will also have an Xbox and PC games being played and my nephew and I haven’t had to complain once about ping being too high or lag issues.

This router is a beast on its own. I upgraded because of the range from my previous one and it is awesome. I love the features that you get with the smartphone app. I think it is well worth the investment despite the price tag. If you want great coverage, great wifi connection for lightning speeds, and truly enjoy 8K level of content then this is a match made in heaven for you.

I have been using this router only for a little while. The 1st one I got, I had to return due to not getting internet when I paired it with my new or old modem??? I tried everything. I even called Asus technical support. No matter what settings I tried it did not work. I even tried different computers, phones, tablets and they would say connected no internet. I got the replacement and still no internet. At this point I was so frustrated. I was about to give up. Connecting a laptop to the router with it connected to the modem I was able to see the Asus online. But that is when I dug a little deeper I saw a firmware update. It worked!!!!!!! I had 2.4, 5, & 6ghz connections :) My ISP is xfinity I am so happy now Thanks for reading.

I bought two of these to use in an AiMesh and, besides an issue with Smart Connect causing my MacBook Pro 2018 to drop connection (fixed by just disabling Smart Connect), this router is quick, and have a ton of useful features not seen on other routers like VPN Fusion.

Great router, super fast and very easy setup. ASUS app is very user friendly. Only complaint was the delivery, it wasn’t in a box to hide what it was. Came in ASUS box and sat outside for anyone to see what it was. Not good for a $549.00 router.

This has been the best router i have had in a long time. interfaces are great. Only issue I would say is it only has 4 ports. and goes down to 3 if you utilize the 2.5 gbps dual link.

So far great router. Covers the entire house. Plenty of features. The app is a big plus too. It is a bit expensive though. If you do not have a lot of devices, may want to look at one of the cheaper routers.

Light years ahead of anything out there. No more waiting around for downloads or for Netflix or Amazon to download. Super quick speeds and gaming is out of this world with the PS5. Well worth the price of admission. If you need a whole house system that can handle all you zoom Meeting calls, gaming needs, computer web searches and subscription service viewing, look no further that’s this. You will not regret it.

I'm swapping over from a Netgear Nighthawk 6 stream Wifi 6 gaming router. That thing was absolutely horrible! I bought it as soon as I got a PS5 on launch last year. My PS5 would randomly say LAN cable disconnected and then it would say reconnected whether I was connected through the LAN cable or Wifi. I contacted Sony and was like hey, something is wrong with my $600 PS5 it keeps losing connection. I finally got tired of the run around and I started searching for other brands of routers. I usually build my gaming PC's with Asus boards so I said hey why not. It has been the best investment thus far. Not a single drop in the three months that I've had it. Nor does my PS5 have those random drops anymore with my internet connection. I've officially dropped Netgear and moved to Asus. This router cost more than the one from Netgear, but you shouldn't have any issues with it.

Good good router, but for such a investment of money, maybe worth to wait for the Wifi 7 routers. Definitely a lot of options. My favorite the download master of Asus.

Amazing router as the main AiMesh hub. I have the XT8 and ET8, and it pairs very well as mesh nodes. If I had to redo my household mesh, would have just bought AXE1100 with XT8 or ET8. Now all coverage around the house is covered. If you are not worried about the current price and want 6E devices covered, this router is for you.
