    The Facts

    Posted .

To help clear up the facts there are actually (6) different configurations of the G73 (XX) notebook. All specifations not listed are the same for all models. (A1) 1920x1080 display, 8GB Memory, dual 500GB HDD's, Bluray drive, Bluetooth and a 2.0M camera. (A2) Same as A1 no Bluray drive. (X1) Same as A1, with single 500GB HDD. (X2) Same as A1, with single 500GB HDD, no Bluray drive. Best Buy models are known as "Blue Label" and are exclusive to Best Buy. And come in 2 configurations. (RBBX05) 1600x900 display, 6GB memory, single 500GB HDD, no Bluray, 1.3M video camera, no bluetooth. (RBBX09) Same as (RBBX05) but adds 8GB memory and 1TB HDD. I hope this clears up confusion for some people, I personally think any one of these notebooks would be a great choice. The (RBBX05) adds a lot of value at it's price point, and the (RBBX09) would meet the needs of anyone wanting to store large amounts of media and extreme multitasking.

Best value, best performance, and loaded nicely!

    * Best and fastest mobile graphics card around. The Radeon HD5870 1gb GDDR5 slices through Crysis on maximum settings like a hot knife through butter. * Dual 500gb (7,200 RPM) hard drives. I'm planning on moving to the new Seagate Momentus XT (hybrid hard drives) to give that needed performance boost. * 8gb of DDR3 1333MHz. Total of FOUR DDR slots(!!!). Can hold up to 16gb of DDR3 maximum. * The screen is a luscious 17.3". Sure, there are some 18.4" ones floating around out there. But I'd gamble on the odds being better for locating 17.3" laptop bags. * Close your eyes and listen to the music pour out from this beauty. Nothing tinny about any of it. The subwoofer is located on the bottom, and makes every sound come alive in rich EAX HD 4.0. Don't take my word for it. Google this laptop and see how amazing it is for this price! It does so much more than gaming! For $1,399 more, one could go with an Alienware with one 250gb hard drive, dual 5870's in Crossfire, and 4gb DDR3. Oh, and Asus are the bomb with support. Very friendly, professional, and listen carefully. They repeat the questions back to you for clarification.

    Very best for the price

    Posted .

This is currently the best laptop you can get in this price range. It will do or play anything you throw at it. The design is perfect, the backlit keyboard is great and it has a very nice screen. I have been primarily a desktop junkie and have built quite a few computers in my time. I knew ASUS was a top-notch mobo and vga maker, so you can't go wrong with their implementations inside a high-end gaming laptop. And I am not disappointed. The only thing that you may want to know about this laptop - the 1 TB hdd is actually two 500 GB drives. This is better in my opinion, but it isn't listed anywhere in the specs. Buy this laptop and you won't be disappointed.

    Amazing laptop for great price

    Posted .

I am by no means an expert on computers. I did, however, do my homework before purchasing this laptop from ASUS. On paper it looked perfect, even if you didn't take into account the low price. So when I saw the price on this beast shoot down $170, I was all over it. I use the G73 primarily for internet, music, and hardcore gaming. Let me tell you, it doesn't matter what I am playing; this laptop doesn't even break a sweat. Second day at home I installed Crysis and was running it on maximum settings with Anti-Aliasing enabled... ZERO LAG. Everything looks amazing all the time; I could not have asked for anything more from this laptop.

    Great Laptop for the price

    Posted .

This previous review doesn't know what he is talking about. Asus has similar models with an i7, GTS 360 M, and 500GB HD, 4GB Ram...this model is only $100 more than that...with a FAR superior graphics card and double the ram. Now you could buy the $1200 version here of this laptop, and might get a bit more bang for buck, but even that model was selling out everywhere for $1599. Now they just lowered that price because the introduced this with a little more beef to it. This model with less ram and HD space is sold out EVERYWHERE, and it was selling for this same price. You will not find a better gaming computer for price. Just try to spec out an Alienware to compete with this and let me know how much $$$ you would be spending.

    Excellent Gaming Laptop

    Posted .

I purchased this laptop for the ultimate gaming and media experience. I can run Modern Warfare 2 on max settings with 1600*900 resolution and I am having 90 fps. I have ran Bad Company 2 on max with 40-50 fps. This is my first experience with quad processors and let me tell you that they're not disappointing. Originally I was going to purchase the cheaper version of this, but before I did this model's package price dropped. Its well worth paying $200-300 more for a 1 TB hard drive and 8 GB of DDR3. I read in a computer magazine that the only thing that really meets this laptop in performance costs $3000-4000. Right now as I write this, It has the best graphics card for a laptop that money can buy.

    Good for multi-tasking and gaming

ok this machine is a monster and i mean that in the best way possible i mean for the price it had a great processor, 8 GB of RAM, a ATI RADEON HD graphics, and beautiful display. The reason i wouldn't give it a 5 for convience is beacuse of the battery life its horrible at 100% battery it says lasts for 2 hrs thats no good but since it is a gaming notebook its ok i guess deff buy

    I named mine "Beastmaster"

    Posted .

This thing is a monster, in a very good way. I don't have a single complaint - and as for those who would call it bulky/heavy, it's a gaming laptop, not a netbook. And anyway, as far as that goes, it's much lighter and less bulky than my previous gaming laptop, which didn't even have half of the power and features of this one.

    Excellent computer

Very fast computer, have no problems with graphic programs or games, my first experience with Windows 7 is positive. The antivirus software that comes with the computer seems to have a problem and can crash your computer. It even has a pop up window that tells you this may occur even with the latest update. I have updated the program and do not seem to have any problems but the window keeps coming up. I will probably delete the program.

    Wow, it was amazing.

Now, I was in search of a new laptop computer and I wanted a gaming machine. I did a lot of research and came to this computer. Unfortunately at the time it was not on Best Buy.com and I ended up paying a lot more for this system. When I noticed Best Buy put it up on their website for 200 less than what I'd paid, I promptly returned the one I bought at the other store and placed my order with best buy. Understand this, I added the LG - 8x External USB 2.0/eSATA Blu-ray Disc Double-Layer DVD±RW/CD-RW Drive for just 279.99 so that I could also play blue ray movies. I'll update this post when i receive it and try it with my computer.

    Great product

    Posted .

I replaced my HP with an Asus and used to have dell computers and after comparing what I could get with the Asus I decided to try it and I am not disappointed in what I got. The only downfall is the speed of the Hard drive. The 1GB drive was split three ways. Using one as the backup, one for the OS and the third for the rest of my files. I would suggest this Asus to my friends as a great buy. The graphics are great on games. Only problem is the wireless card does not always connecting to older G routers. No problems on the N routers so far.

    Almost Great!

I purchased an ASUS gaming laptop with the NVIDIA GTX 260 last year and love it. It has the ESATA as well so I can have an external hard drive that really is nice. Unfortunately this one doesn't have it. I'm giving my last years version to my son for college but my knew one will not be this one because no ESATA. The MSI version is coming out this Spring so I'll probably get it. Same price and configuration but with ESATA. I'd even be happy for USB 3.

    Fast laptop, great for gaming.

The best things are that it is fast and has a lot of storage. Graphics are fantastic! With the design, the laptop stays cool compared to other laptops I've had.The only problem was that one of the keys kept coming apart. It's a great computer for gaming!

    Horrible pricing

    Posted .

ASUS knocked it out of the park with the G73JH, price for value is absolutely astonishing EXCEPT on this model. At $1599 it sits right between the normal A1 $1650 and the A2 $1550. You end up giving the 1080p, blue-ray, backpack and mouse of the A1 or you over pay for an A2 with the downgraded monitor, and no backpack&mouse. Don't shy away from the G73JH, it's a awesome system, just make a better buying choice for your hard earned money. The RBBX05 pricing is more in line for what you give up and is better value.
