Purchased this router for my dad. Set up was easy and straight forward. Less than 10 minutes and I had him up and running. Range is better than the router that the cable company rents out to him, and the signal is delivered faster and more consistent. Works well with T-Mobile's WiFi calling as well.

Good router. Fast with 4 up channels and 16 down. Supports all the latest wireless formats. 4 1Gbs ethernet connections. I've had as many as 12 wireless devices connected and running at once (3 cell phones, 2 tablets, a PS3, a Roku a printer, other things that are only on intermittently and a smart TV connected with no issues. Easy to setup: just plug in the internet run the included quick setup utility to setup (or use existing) wireless network. Good documentation for tweaking the numerous settings available. I had no problems switching from my old router to the new one. Didn't even have to reenter passwords since I used the old network name and same login password. Good signal strength through out the house. The only downside to this router is it runs hot - it doesn't just feel warm but more than warm - you won't get burned touching it no matter for how long but for such a small unit sitting out in the open that is very well ventilated with an ambient temp of 72F - it runs hot.

This router is a dual band router which can transmit two different bands 2.4 and a 5.0 GHz. The Asus router does some pretty nice things like conecting a USB device and sharing it with the network and can be able to access your USB device from somewhere else through the internet. This router has great speeds and nice look. You can have it layed down or in a standing position, but as well you can have it like I have and mount it on the wall and out of the way. over all this router does have some nice features but i would recommend looking at other specifications to check if its right for you and if you want to pay a little bit of that premium to have those things. its a great router by far.

Nice N Router For The Money

Nowadays there are a lot of routers that offer a lot that people don't need, like tri-or quad-band 802.11AC support, when at the end of the day all most people need for range and internet is a good 2.4GZ 802.11N router. This is that router. It is solid, easy to configure, and can deliver all the internet that 99% of America can get. I run to this router for friends and family, and I recommend it for those who want to get devices online. If you want to host a shared USB drive and you need AC to access that content quickly look to the RT-AC68P. It is faster for those purposes. That router is more though, and this one does just as well for most people's internet speeds.

Having no knowledge about what to buy we went to best buy to get a router. The associate helping us asked us exactly what we need and suggested this. This thing works better than I ever dream t of. Consider Our apartment structure is like a 5 sequential train bogies and the router is located in the first bogie (Living room). Total apartment sq foot is 1800 sq foot and total number of devices are 10+.This monster router works every corner including bathrooms. I love this product. Thanks best buy.

Amazing router, lives up to the hype. We have 54MBs downlink via xfinity and this device streams content to 5 endpoints in 1080p without batting an eye. Awesome range, excellent signal strength and blistering speed. 4 Gigabit ethernet ports, and dual band wireless N+ No downsides other than the router gets mildly warm. Easy to install and has at least 65' of excellent range, beyond that it falls off gradually as you expect.

Out of the box -range and speed were weak.. Had to change some wireless settings in the 2.4 frequency configuration: 1. Changed "Control Channel" to 1 2. Changed "Channel Bandwidth " to 40 MHZ After that, range doubled and speeds were 450 mps as advertised and confirmed by my Wi-Fi scanner. If you are having performance issues, try those 2 steps.. There is a firmware update that came out recently, but have not updated as yet-- this may cure having to manually change those settings-- I can now stream HD AND 3D movies on my wireless TV which is downstairs and >50 ft away from the router-- love it!!

Quality made. Speed reliability/consistency is perfect and never had any fashion of disruption while gaming online! Protection via Asus is amazing. I definitely got my moneys worth. Wifi range is awesome, I can get the wifi signal from across the parking lot of my multi apt building(FARRR). The sleek and color look of it looks good with my other electronics. Nothing is ever perfect no matter what it is you;re purchasing but Asus is as close as you're gonna get to perfection! All my pc electronics are from ASUS and never had problems with this brand and you won't either!

I purchased this to replace a new Netgear WNDR4300 N band router that quit after only two weeks of use. I don't need a lot of features, just speed and reliability. I pulled this one out of the box, moved the network cables over from the old router, hooked up the power supply, and hit the web based configuration page to change the SSIDs,, administrator and wireless network passwords, and make sure that the firewall and DOS protection were on. I don't don't have a hard drive or USB printer attached to the router, I have no kids, I'm not a gamer, I don't stream videos, and I'm usually the only one using this router, so I didn't need any of the more sophisticated features. Then I went around to each of my wireless devices and logged into the LAN on the N band and was done. Then I did a few hundred megabyte file transfers over the wireless network and speed was noticeably better than the old G network. There were no hiccups either. The UI for the config pages was pretty straight forward, but there doesn't seem to be a help function. My needs were simple enough and the interface clear enough that I didn't need any. Here we are a month later and I haven't had to touch it since (knock on wood it stays that way). I wandered around outside the house (a stucco 1900 sq. ft. single level) and I had WiFi farther away than I did with my old, old G band Netgear router, and at about the same range as the short lived WNDR4300. I estimate that WiFi range with three bars on the iPhone 4S is about 80-90 feet outside the house (the wire cage inside the stucco walls really kills radio signal strength transmission through exterior walls). This router gets OK reviews on the Best Buy site, but there are a few lousy reviews at Amazon. There's also an ASUS RT-N66U that has a couple thousand Amazon reviews and seems to be well regarded, and it's also priced about fifty bux less than the RT-N66R. Frankly I didn't notice the R vs. U change until I got the thing home, but the price I paid at BB was the same as the 66U and like I said, as long as it keeps working I'll be happy. I'd been a NetGear router user for more than ten years, replacing them only when faster technology became available and never having any problems. When the WNDR4300 started dropping network connections I was disappointed, but because I'd read the reviews, I wasn't surprised. As I read reviews from many comparable routers, none of them had particularly good reviews, and the majority of them had something like 20% of the people complaining about dropped wireless network connections. Brand of router didn't seem to matter, you just got a good one or you didn't. Some people did try to exchange for another of the same brand and still got a dud, so I didn't even consider those. But the main reason I went to Best Buy instead of trying to google up a better deal was I could purchase an inexpensive extended warranty and if/when this one goes bad, I can just walk into the store and walk out with a new router with no problems. Sad state of affairs when you have to rely on a warranty to overcome what seems to be wide spread quality problems.

This wireless router covers every inch of my home inside and out. We have multiple laptops, Rokus, phones, tablets all running off of this unit and no issues at all. Setup was easy and the interface to set parental controls, time of use restrictions, security settings and many other tools were simple to access. I also use the Asus router app on my iPhone, which nearly offers the same amount of functionality as the browser based interface.

Speed processed through this router is consistent. The internal user interface is a very nice setup, the settings are many many for protection and IP configuration, and very simple to setup a home bsnss network from scratch. The range of the signal is amazing. I get this signal about a 75-130ft away(that's the furthest I pull from the router at times). ASUS, you can't go wrong with this brand. My whole gaming pc is built with as much ASUS products as I could build with it and I haven't had ANY problems yet. Asus is awesome and this router is amazing.

I am using this in a 2 story house and it has very good range. I have it in the far corner of the basement right off the router where the service comes in the house and it is superior to the xfinity I had been using. The old one was hit or miss on the upstairs floor but this one gives full strength throughout the entire house. Excellent choice if your looking for one unit to use fori the whole house.

Bought two of these in a rush. My work had an issue and we need to quickly setup a wireless bridge. Happy I found these at the local Best Buy. The units was very easy to get setup for both SSIDs I needed, one for the bridge and one for the users. Was completely blown away with the range these units get. With the range and having gig ports I can easily recommend these units. One note this unit is the same as the Asus N66U that you will see a lot of reviews online and how to documents.

Third time is the charm. I have gone through 2 other routers trying to get the networking in my house to be right. This router has been amazing. The speeds are great, and it has been rock solid without the need to reboot since I got it about 2 months ago. Set up was easy. My home has multiple computers, iphones, ipads, gaming consoles, apple tv, etc all hooked to the router and I have not had a problem at all. This router replaced a Linksys E4200. For some reason the E4200 router would limit the speeds on one of the iphones and some of the other electronics would have issues connecting. I used to have to reboot it a lot. The Linksys I had before the E4200 was a Linksys E3000, and that one I could not stay connected with my iphones and I always had issues with other products and it drove me crazy. This Asus router was highly rated, had great reviews and was a great buy considering the cost. I was debating getting an Airport Extreme, but after reading a lot of reviews, and the cost difference, I know I made the right choice. Range on the router is pretty good, also the external antennas might look tacky, but they are much batter and add more range than internal antennas.

This was a great upgrade to my previous router which was bought in 08'. Has great range and constant. It is on the second floor in one corner of the house and reaches to the other side of the house to the kitchen. I bought an ac router before this but exchanged it since I didn't see no real benefit. Most of my appliances only connect to the 2.4 ghz signal. I recommend changing channels on the router since it goes directly to channel 6 which is the most crowded atleast in my area.
