    Nice display, but disappointing performance

I have been pretty disappointed with this laptop so far. It has suddenly crashed a couple of times. It has been glitchy with windows closing suddenly and windows/images re-sizing randomly. The most frustrating thing is that I keep getting errors when I try to copy images from my camera's memory card to an external drive. I've performed this function hundreds of times on my old laptop with no problems. I could copy 999 files at once before with zero errors on my four year-old laptop. Now, if I try to copy more than 10-20 files at a time, I get a bunch of errors. Sometimes it will finish copying after multiple times. Other times, I have to start over. This routine, basic task is now very time consuming. For the price and for a machine marketed for this type of use, it is very frustrating. I may need to get tech support to see if they can figure it out. It's mystifying why this is a problem, since this is a very basic, routine function.

Coming from an XPS 17 9710 UHD, this laptop is a great upgrade. Screen, weight, keyboard, and the Speakers! all amazing. I literally have no complaints about this machine. Doesn't run too hot while gaming either. Battery life is miles better than the XPS.

Excellent PC. The touch screen sensitivity and resolution are just right. The only gripe not the machine itself but the purchase was to include a free game which is not compatible with this machine. Hooked it up to dual 4k monitors. At 4k some programs are very difficult to see due to their size.

It is a wonderful laptop and totally worth the price. I do have some small occasional problems with the low frame rate while playing video games in my free time. But overall, great laptop!

    AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!

This is by far the worst behaving computer I have ever owned and I would 100% return it if I could. I very much dislike using this thing. AVOID IT AT ALL COSTS. As someone who doesn't like Mac, buy the Mac instead. Seriously. Even the good versions of the P16 are total junk. This should be recalled by ASUS and I'll never buy an ASUS again due to this comp. I initially bought a "perfect condition" return version from BestBuy. It arrived loose, in a return box, without a shred of original box or documentation. It also had disgusting greasy fingerprints all over it, and was stuck in the boot loop these are famous for. Clearly BestBuy didn't even open the box as it didn't meet a single requirement for the "perfect condition" that it was sold to me as. Literally false advertising on BestBuy's part. So I went into the store, returned it and got a brand new version.... Even this brand new one is complete and utter JUNK. -Basic YouTube is choppy, because it can't support the "ambient mode" despite having an rtx4070. This is honestly embarrassing for ASUS. -The screen will blackout when hovering over youtube video thumbnails multiple times and it's insanely frustrating, it feels like the screen is broken. Moving your mouse around the screen will cause multiple blackouts. - If a youtube video is playing, and you scroll, the video desaturates and resaturates... the colors keep changing and this is a CREATOR LAPTOP WITH ACCURATE COLORS? ---- YEAH RIGHT! It can't even keep a simple color profile for YouTube. - Lightroom CC does this weird thing with colors as well. When a photo is unedited, the borders of LR are lighter grey, but when there is an adjustment made, LR borders change color and get darker and all the colors change... This means nothing is accurate ever, or I can never tell what IS accurate. My old Dell XPS doesn't do this when side by side. Again... an embarrassing failure for something that is a "creator laptop"... and yes, I have tried all the different settings offered by ASUS. They all are terrible. - DaVinci Resolve struggles to edit basic videos with a simple colored border on a photo... It will crash, and just close. Again... not good for creators. These are simple 4k clips of a POV cam and trying to display a photo I took. Nothing big, nothing effect heavy. It can't handle a single effect at all whatsoever without crashing. This is supposed to be a creator laptop and it seriously functions worse than my 3 year old Dell XPS which I will be going back to. The colors go in and out, the switching between AI card and RTX card is glitchy and blacks the screen out and just seems like something is broken. Not smooth at all. I genuinely have no idea how they can call this a creator laptop with so many embarrassing failures... I am selling this and going back to my old Dell XPS with 16gb memory and no graphics card. That is how terrible the performance of this thing is. I'll never buy an ASUS again due to this laptop alone. Never. It's simply too frustrating and I cannot trust it to get through anything smoothly, or that the colors are accurate. I don't even like watching YouTube on it.

It was a really great laptop, with incredible speakers, and awesome speed, efficient cooling, and very quiet, but it started going very slow after afrw hours and then crashed multiple times. I probably got a bad apple since it was an open box, so I returned it to the store.

This is an excellent creator’s laptop. For video and audio. The laptop screen has an excellent display. The power is more than you’ll need for every day tasks. The only downside is battery life. But you get an excellent graphics card that offsets it.

    An unfortunate mess for $2600

I use it for 1 year now. Very very poor work on firmware, very glitchy device. Sometimes goes to sleep when you close the lid, sometimes it doesn't. living its own life. Screen goes bright and dark by itself occasionally. The screen quality deserves ZERO stars and this is the main problem of this device. Whatever the rating they show its a scam, this is the bottom quality OLED screen, uniformity is at a level of REJECT product. Right side of the screen gets brighter with dark gray colors, blacks are a mess. They clearly tried to hide screen problems, because when you adjust brightness some mess happens with colors on a way, especailly with darks, color temperature clearly shifts etc. For $2600 it's an unacceptable mess. Do not waste your time and money on this. I flew to Bali for a year so I was not able to return this unfortunately.

Purchased this for my son for Christmas, out of the box the computer worked fine, then suddenly the screen went black and had to do a hard reboot to get the screen to come back on. Made sure everything was updated c, and all drivers up to date. Ran for about an hour before going black again. Opened device manager, and seen the 7040 GPU was not being shown and the computer reverted to the amp GPU. Clicked on view hidden devices and the 7040 was listed, but showed as not installed. Will be returning to Best buy on the 26th to see if it's a simple fix, or needs to be swapped out. Definitely a disappointment for Christmas.

      Dear Greg,

      Thank you for your comment.

We do understand your disappointment and the inconvenience this may have caused if you are getting a random black screen. Typically, this random black screen merely means that updates are being applied into the System Registry. This is common after initial Windows setup completed and while updates are being installed. This will go away once the laptop is updated. This laptop defaults to the integated GPU when system resource utilization is low. If Windows, drivers and appllications are up to date and the problem persists, please update the BIOS if this laptop is running with an older version. The most current BIOS version is posted at:  https://www.asus.com/us/laptops/for-creators/proart/proart-p16-h7606/helpdesk_bios?model2Name=H7606WI .

Should you need further assistance with the product, please email me at cl-rodel@asus.com and I would be more than happy to help. Or, you are most welcome to call Product Support Hotline at: 1(888) 678-3688. Also, you can chat with an ASUS live support agent from the link: https://www.asus.com/us/support/article/1135/.

Thank you for choosing an ASUS product.
