Great Starting Point! Needs to be Rebuilt

I believe that this is a great PC if you're willing to put in a little work! I bought this when it was $1800. A couple of days later it dropped to $1600 and Best Buy was kind enough to refund me $200 after contacting their customer support. Thanks Best Buy! Someone mentioned that this build has "great guts," and I agree. A TUF Gaming 3080 10GB (I received the non-OC and LHR version) with an i7-11700KF is a pretty hard combo to beat. The 512 GB SSD, 2 TB HDD, and RAM it comes with is fast and great too! But, out of the box, the computer runs extremely hot and is pretty unusable. I couldn't even load up into a game of Warzone because the CPU would exceed 100 C and crash. This is because the case, the little 80 mm rear exhaust fan, and the heat sink it comes with are not sufficient. For its current price point of $2100, there should be way better cooling with more airflow and more fans (e.g., a 120 mm exhaust fan in the rear, three 120 mm exhaust fans at the top, and two 140 mm intake fans in the front). Maybe a perforated front mesh panel to improve airflow? If you end up buying this build, I highly recommend swapping cases because of several reasons. The case itself is very difficult to work with if you're trying to install a quality AIO or air cooler. I don't even think there are places to install screws for an AIO (a review said they had to zip tie their fans to the case!). Also, the case is also too small. I tried to install a Noctua NH-D15, but it was too big for the case. I also tried to install the Corsair H100i as well but there really wasn't a place to mount the radiator unless you just left it in the front not screwed to anything. In the end, I put everything into an NZXT H510 Elite (which doesn't have the best airflow but is easy to work with and looks cool) and installed an AIO, the Kraken X63 I believe. Since then, I can play Warzone and the temps for both the GPU and CPU never exceed 68 C. The CPU actually stays below 60 C for the most part. I've also only crashed once during a game, and I believe it was because I was running MSI Afterburner along with Warzone, not because of the computer overheating. Elden Ring runs with temps in the low to mid 50s. In all, at the price I bought this computer at, it was a great value. Hopefully ASUS improves the design and cooling of their prebuilt PCs in the future because the potential is there!

Awesome parts put into a airtight case , with no intake . An 88mm exhaust and a 88mm 3heat pipe cpu cooler is all you have for cooling. I play Conquerors Blade with max settings and it starts to thermal throttle around 1-2hrs and than it will automatically shutdown . CPU is only at 50% load with 95+ Celsius . GPU at 50% load and 60-65C. I swapped the case for a Corsair5000D airflow (go YouTube Gamer Nexus for come cheap and good cases ) and added 10fans now it runs at 75C (still using the original cpu cooler) , planning on custom looping it . Still worth it for me after an extra $250 and time spent for rebuilding it into a new case. Btw if u get the Bestbuy store card u get 10% cash back which is like $200 and than you can have a free case or AIO. Friendly reminder read the other reviews please , there are other solutions for the cooling problem , but I think Case > CPU cooler > modding the original case . If you are trying to build a PC around the 3080, buy now and think later. When this is available it’s one of the rare opportunities for a great gaming rig without winning a lottery or paying scalpers n It’s a prebuilt that requires a bit of work to get fully functional. Test it first before doing these modifications because they will void your warranty. The best air CPU cooler that will fit in the case is a Vetroo V5. You can install this without changing the back plate. This upgrades your CPU cooler to 120mm and it actually works great. You can also install three 120mm intake fans in the case: two on the front and one on the top. You will need to CAREFULLY take the case apart to do this. One 120mm intake fan can be screwed in the bottom front, but the other two need zip ties. The ram sticks do not have heatsinks. You can add these if you want but they really aren’t necessary, especially after you address the cooling. The 90mm exhaust fan is loud. I may replace that too. After getting the cooling right, I also patched the bios to update the processor microcode. This is optional but can yield a 2.5% performance increase. Now the PC runs like an absolute beast and I’m happy with the outcome.

The case and fans are complete garbage, but in early 2022 it is still a great deal if you want to do some work. I swapped the components into a NZXT 510i case and added a AIO 240 cooler. It is running cool and fairly quiet and looks good. Got the computer as an open box for around 1600. With the case and cooler I'm about $2100 in for an RTX 3080 with an i7 11700kf and 16 gigs of 3200 ram. It would not be my first choice for CPU or ram if the world was same right now, but it is cutting through all the tests and games with ease. I'm playing at 1440p right now but it could go 4k with no problem. NZXT 510i was only case at Best Buy locally, it is ok but I wouldn't recommend. The case scratches VERY easily and the metal is so thin that the top fan makes a droning noise. It was easy to fix by putting something heavy on the center of the top fan intake where it wouldn't block airflow, but come on man that shouldn't be necessary. Overall, I would do it again but only if GPU prices stay this crazy.

If you aren't comfortable altering the system, I don't think it will be a good choice sadly. It at least needs more fans that badly. As many other reviews covered, the cooling is absolutely unacceptable if you intend to use the computer as is. It will throttle, and even overheat under just about any load. Fans ran full speed on startup alone, and mine got over 85c from just booting into windows. I can't say I had a crash, but many cores were close to or at TJ max under load. It has 2 90mm fans, plus the gpu fans, and that's it. The motherboard is locked, even though you get an unlocked processor, so bear that in mind. Even with all that said, the cost of this is the real takeaway. The parts in here all together are very close to MSRP which is unheard of right now. And if you don't like to waste things, the case is usable; with added case fans, and a better cpu cooler. The top and front panel are mesh metal under the plastic, so airflow is decent. Something I haven't seen others note, is that the case does have posts for a full atx board. Also, the gpu will have no sag issues, as there is a bracket inside attached to the case and the metal backplate. The 3080 tuf is a very good card with a lot of headroom to overclock, and the 11700kf is basically an i9 11900kf, with a slightly lower clock. The SK hynix ram inside is not the best you can buy, but it is definitely not bad. M.2 drive is a WD-SN530 with windows installed. Greatwall PSU is the only strangely branded item, though most reviews say it's okay. Asus strix B-560G board is actually good too, if you don't want to overclock. I'd definitely buy this if you were considering building your own PC, because you won't be finding the parts at this price anytime soon it seems. You could run it as is with better fans, or get a 590 motherboard and have a top of the line system for basically the cost of parts. And if you wanted to actually get the building experience, you could always tear it down and build in a better case. Remember, any modifications will void the warranty. Test the computer before touching anything if you intend to make any changes.

The CPU, GPU, and motherboard are good, especially at this price. Don't buy if you have no time to rebuild it. Extremely awful cooling, I could only use it for 30 minutes, then it would overheat and automatically shut down. This PC only had a poor 90mm fan and a triple heat pipe air cooling for its 11th gen i7 and 3080, which was unbelievable. When I wanted to add some case fans and change the air cooling to liquid cooling, I found out that the design of this case is a disaster. The GPU would always block the way of my AIO. Seems like they didn't want to give users any extra space to put more fans. You can only install two 120mm case fans on the front panel, if you are willing to remove the baffle under the case. And of course there is no place for you to fix a fan on the upper part. In the end, I gave up struggling, and tried a simple solution after a few days of hard work (even the AIO I bouthgt is also ROG STRIX, this case is not compatible with it), I wired an 80mm fan to the top, then removed the side panel, and hung my AIO fans outside the case with zip tie. It looks not that good, but at least it works.

I wanted to build a 3080 machine but refused to pay scalper prices for just the GPU. This prebuilt seemed like the best choice in terms of price to performance. The 3080 TUF is one of the better 3080 cards with solid cooling, power stage design, and component selection. The single 90mm case fan is a joke for a system that produces this much heat. I added two 120mm intake fans in the front, two 120mm top exhausts, and two 90mm rear exhausts. I would've added bottom intakes if that was a possibility but it is not on this case. I also changed the CPU cooler to a 212 black edition, which is just too tall to put the door on. So I basically modded the door by adding 1/2" thick polycarbonate square bar between the tempered glass plane and the metal door hinges. The door is basically a piece of glass with glued on metal strips for hinges/latches. With all added fans being PWM and controlled by the CPU fan header using Asus Qfan, the GPU and CPU will hover around high 60s (C) when running full tilt. Other changes I made: -Upgraded ram to 4 x 8gb Corsair lpx 3200. Need to go into BIOS and configure XMP to get it running at 3200. -Upgraded main SSD to wd sn850 to take advantage of mobo pcie gen 4 support -Updated mobo bios and enabled resize BAR

    Great Value / Bad Cooling

Cons: - Bad CPU cooler. It is very loud under load and performs at high temperatures. It is just not enough for this processor. 3D Mark Time Spy pushes it to 100C, and thermal throttling starts. ASUS must do something about it, it is unacceptable! - Computer case is very small and has bad airflow. The size of it does not leave you a lot of choices for CPU cooler upgrades or adding more case fans. - Motherboard STRIX B560-G has custom BIOS for this build (G15CE). Features could be limited compared to the original BIOS that comes with STRIX B560-G. - Having a 2TB HDD is kind of a waste of money in 2021 gaming systems. - Keyboard and mouse are generic and not what you see in the picture. Waste of money. Pros: - Price! It is a great value for a prebuild with RTX3080 on board. MSRP of all components together comes to around $1,800. Investing $200 in a CPU cooler and new computer case will make this PC build perfect.

      Dear Asushchev,

Indeed, it is a value-added computer.

We do understand your concern about cooling system on the desktop PC.

The cooling system works properly, it dissipates heat efficiently. It is normal for the PC, with the same hardware configuration and regardless of the manufacturer, to generate more heat than normal while under heavy load especially during gaming, WINDOWS Update and antivirus scan. When system resource utilization is high, this will generate more heat than normal and tends to trigger the fan to spin at full-throttle. Please ensure the air ventilations are free from obstructions in order to have an efficient air flow for better heat dissipation. While gaming, please ensure no resource hungry applications are running in the background, this will definitely spike the temperature. The heat or temperature does decreases or normalizes once system resource utilization goes down.

Pros : 3080 TUF non OC - One of the better AIB's 11700KF - An absolute powerhouse boosting up to 5GHZ. Greatwall Semi Modular 750W Gold PSU - "A" Tier on LTT Forums. Case handle (If that matters to you, for my travel its handy) Meh : 16GB of no-name ram is questionable, but at least its 3200mhz, and DOES work in other computers (make sure to set XMP). Motherboard has some nice features (Beefy VRM Heatsinks, AX Wifi, M.2 heatsink (for Gen4 slot), but cannot change cpu clock ration (overclock) on the KF processor. Cons : 1x 82mm exhaust fan, and a similar size cpu fan on a tin soda can heatsink. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Everyone saying that it takes $300+ to make the computer useable obviously doesn't know what they're talking about. Although you have to remove the GPU bracket, you can fit a 240mm AIO in this case (See pictures). When I purchased it off amazon (ID-Cooling or something like that), Shipping and taxes ended up being $65. If you're going to go this route, some things to keep in mind: You're going to need to put the radiator in before the GPU and its going to be a TIGHT fit. You're going to want to remove the motherboard (to fit a new backplate depending on the AIO you get) and the IO shield is a PITA to remove. It'll feel like there is a screw that you might have left in, but if you get the angle just right, it'll pop out. You'll want to have some flush-cuts (small wire cutters) to make space to put the fan screws through the front, do this while the motherboard is out to reduce the risk of getting a stray piece of case on the motherboard / under the motherboard. You will not be able to mount the AIO "Properly" (Tubes should not be at the top of the RAD like this because of air bubbles but I'm okay with spending $65 every 2-3 years to replace an AIO) After everything was said and done, I don't even break 60 degrees under heavy load. (Benchmarks, 4k Gaming, etc.) tl/dr : With the current computer market, this computer is a great buy. With a 10% off coupon you can get this computer @ around $1,800 which is essentially MSRP for all of the components, but you're going to want to address the cooling issues before you cook the CPU into oblivion. This PC will NOT come close to it's potential right out of the box, regardless of what ASUS says. (Also this will probably void your warranty so if you decide to modify your system, definitely keep that in mind)

If you're going to pay over $1800 for this PC, I would stay away from it. It's equipped with tiny exhaust fans and the case overall has terrible cooling. I used it as is for roughly a month and my CPU temps would reach a 100c when exporting photos in Adobe Lightroom and would stay in the high 80's when playing Assetto Corsa. Like others in the review say, the fans were extremely loud. In the end I decided to swap all the components into a Lian Li Mini Air case. I have no previous experience with building PC's and was able to swap everything over and even install a Corsair AIO. Temps are in the low 60's c now when I play Asetto Corsa and the computer no longer sounds like a jet engine. I would only recommend buying if you're able to get this PC under $1500 and are willing to do some modifications. I was lucky enough to get this during a flash deal.

Some great components in the worst case ever. It ha a i7 11700 , asus Tuf 3080 , asus ROG motherboard , 750 watt gold power supply and 16 gigs 3200mhz ram @ cl 17 . The Bad - the ram is plain green kind of generic looking ram( works fine so not the worst) , the power supply is not modular so lots of wires to deal with and the very worst part is the case ( almost zero airflow) and processor cooler. You could probably and some fans and a AIO cpu cooler for the temps but I found it easier to buy a corsair airflow case while they were on sale. I picked this up when it was on sale for $1599 , got the case , a corsair AIO , some caes rgb case fans , 32 gigs rgb 3200mhz cl 16 ram and a wd 1tb 850 nvme drive. All together its cost was around $1950 after using the bestbuy rewards for some of the purchases. A great deal for a now custom very cool running gaming pc. Do the math on the parts. If you can get them all you still come out about $400 ahead and you can easily sell the spare parts to save even more. I gave it 3 stars because i expected better from asus in a somewhat high end pc.

Great PC, awesome specs for the price. TUF 3080 is one of the best 3080 out there and it has a good overclocking potential. The overall airflow and thermal is poor however, I definitely recommend to swap out the noisy factory fans on the CPU cooler and the back of the case(both are 92mm). The front of the case can fit 2x120mm, but there is no room for a liquid cooler since the GPU is too big. The top of the case won't hold any fans properly, but there is room to zip tie a 92mm fan.

This is the first prebuilt I’ve bought in like 20 years (due to the gpu shortage) and generally I am pretty impressed. I really don’t know what all the hate for this system is. Yes the CPU cooler sounds like an airplane taking off and yes the case doesn’t have the best airflow. But the cooler is an easy fix and I am gonna put some fans into the case to see if that will make a difference cause I actually don’t hate the case. Other than that this is a great prebuilt, especially for the price and the current market situation. The motherboard has great I/O, it has a second M.2 slot for expansion and overall is a very solid choice. The power supply is semi modular and 80 Plus Gold rated. The ram (while not pretty) is fast and comes in dual channel! The 3080 is the Asus TUF and is pretty solid. Cable management is also surprisingly well done (front and back) Overall I am pretty impressed with the parts they have picked (besides that cpu cooler) and I would definitely recommend this system to anyone who isn’t afraid to make a few tweaks.

Don’t listen to all the haters. This is the best deal on the market. Does the case suck? Yea. Does it get a little hot? Yea. You know what will fix that. Buy a V5 Vetroo air cooler for $35 and take the side panel off. Bammmmm! You have a pc that normally sells for $2500 plus for what… $2100… and you can buy a certified excellent one and save $150. I did that and it was $1812 before taxes but was brand new. And if you wanna spend just a little more buy a Lian li lancool ii mesh performance case for $120 and do a case swap. Seriously after searching everything this is the best deal on the market. Do not listen to all the cry babies.

Despite what Asus may claim, no the CPU overheating issue is not a sort of freak accident. It's a systemic issue with the design and the manufacture process. Not only is the case airflow restrictive and the stock cooler garbage but it seems like they don't apply nearly enough thermal paste? I would not recommend picking this up unless you're immediately moving it to another case with a different cpu cooler and a bunch of case fans. I would also say that buying this thinking you can just pop an AIO in the top of the stock would be a mistake, the case has got to go. I myself added an AIO into the top of the stock case with some drilling and filling, as well as cutting down the fans and using the smaller fan from the original CPU cooler to make room for the new ram. It was a nightmare and has only barely fixed the overheating issues (I'm not managing the temps other people seem to be getting with this mod). If you find a good value in these parts fine sure, but address the cooling the right way first instead of a half baked fix like I did. I regret going prebuilt and wished I just saved up to build a better system myself. That said after the painful AIO mod, upgraded ram and storage it's treated me pretty well, although I probably could have gotten a better system within' my budget had I built it myself.

So my first unit was DOA (dead GPU). I wanted the hunt to be over with so bought a replacement and this one works fine for the most part. For whatever reason they make it really hard to add fans to the top of the case, some people say use zip ties. GPU temps honestly aren't that bad considering the one tiny exhaust fan, it never went above 70c (even on 3d mark). CPU is another story. I just loaded Jedi Fallen Order and it was in the 90s and then actually playing it sensors hit cap at 100c. Bestbuy and ASUS claims changing out the CPU cooler voids the warranty but read their terms and conditions of their warranty on the website. Pretty sure this would count as a valid repair (YMMV). I recorded all my temps though and I think it pushing past what is healthy for the CPU. Might even just swap the case. Important info on warranty. At least according to the reps I talked to you have to bring the entire unit to Bestbuy for repair. So no shipping cost but probably going to have a wait. For ASUS. To help make this right. Allow warranty of individual parts. This unit temps on every review are unacceptable. Really needs a new case and a new cpu cooler (guess you can zip tie some fans). Also a gift card to compensate people for the repairs they had to make would be nice. Thanks.

      Dear Benb,

We certainly undersand your disappointment and the inconvenience if the first unit you received is DOA, this is random since all ASUS products undergo intensive quality control testing and inspections.

We do understand your concern about thermal issues, the cooling system is adequate to dissipate heat efficiently. It is normal for a desktop PC, with similar hardware configuration and regardless of the manufacturer, to generate more heat than normal while under heavy load especially during gaming, WINDOWS Update and antivirus scan.

I didn't have huge issues with the original computer but I did buy the computer just for the parts so I did rebuild. Even if you decide to use the computer as is you can change the fan on the cpu and it will be perfectly fine. With the new cooler in the asus case my temps were 50-60 and 70-75 when playing games. After I rebuilt in a new case temp lowered to 40-50 and 60-70 when playing games. Gpu is Asus Tuf rtx 3080 incase anyone is wondering. It was my first time rebuilding but it was super easy and finished in 2 hours so I do recommend you to rebuild if you have the time. Purchased a new on sale for $1599 ($500 discount) and the gpu itself is worth $1000+. I didnt buy any new parts other than the new cooler ($99). Highly recommend to anyone looking for great parts for a great price.

A real review from a non tech savy person. YES when you buy this, it does sound like a jet engine no argument there. BUT on the other end it does NOT over heat like everyone claims. I played btfld 2042 for 3to4 hours straight while doing updates and had zero issues(other than jet sound). As far as adding fans and cpu cooler. I used the vetroo v5 that comes with 120mm rgb and thermal paste, no need to change back plate behind mother board. Everything i mention will be easy bolt and go. I replaced the rear exhaust fan with a 92mm be quiet fan. On top of case i used 120mm be quiet push more towards front to clear parts on MB. Be quiet fans come with flexible pins so you dont have to worry about screws(rather nice). On front of case be careful of power button, pull slowly, i added another 120mm be quiet using same push pins(so easy) and tied all 3 into each other using a 3 into 1. By that way top of case has 2 screws under the case handle, which is 2 pieces. Afted doing these mods which took about 1hr. Pc is super quiet and continue playing Everything maxed out settings

Not a good choice for new pc owners if youre uncomfortable changing parts out. But if you are, this build has great quality main components the GPU, CPU, power supply all good stuff. First thing you need to do is upgrade your cooling system if youre gonna use this guy for gaming. I bought this pc specifically for warzone rebirth. I bought the Corsair H100i and extra 120MM corsair fans, mounted 2 at the top so it blows hot air out, only 1 fan could mount to the radiator blowing out, kept the baby black 90mm fan for exhaust, and 1 fan at the bottom of GPU to intake blow up so basically cool air intake from bottom and hot air exhaust blow out. Genius right!? My PC games under 60c for GPU and 40c for CPU. I can game for hours with no issues. I over clocked the GPU for max performance as well getting 200+ frames. PS ( 2 top fans are mounted using baby zipties ) hope yall enjoy and follow me on instagram if you have any other questions! @blackandgoldguy

Computer has great components but lacks proper cooling. I added a 120mm front fan and swapped out the back 90mm fan. Adjusted the fan curves in the bios and the noise is much better. Currently looking into swapping the cpu cooler. Yes I agree Asus should have done this, but for the price for what you get... this is amazing. I’m ok with doing a little work. 4K ultra setting in warzone with dlss on, rtx off gets 150 FPS.
