VERY Powerful Gaming Laptop!

This is my first high end laptop. I've always stuck to desktops, but needed a mobile work station for video editing. I decided to go with a gaming laptop since their specs are usually on point for video editing.
I also enjoy gaming, so that's an added bonus and really a no brainer purchase. That said, this computer will run, so far, every game I've thrown at it on max settings with ZERO ISSUES!
For example: Overwatch on full epic settings, all maxed running at 100-130 fps and never see temps over 80c on either cpu or gpu. Usually low to miss 70s. Cap the frame rate at 60fps, and temps stay mid 60s on those settings.
Also tried Hawken, Planetside 2, and War Thunder; all maxed with no issues. Ran War Thunder on the "Movie" preset, which warns you not to play set on that one. Mainly for screenshots I guess. It says only reserved for extremely high performance desktops. Well this laptop did it no problem.
Wonderful as a video editor too. Using Adobe Premiere cc 2017 and other similar programs. Works quickly between the i7 and assistance from the gtx 1060 for rendering.
Highly recommend!

This is my first gaming computer. I have been told over and over that I could have built me a cheaper desktop. But with limited space at home I decided to go for a laptop. I have no regrets and am super happy with my purchase. Games that I have played in high settings at 60fps are overwatch, doom, eso, and ffxiv.
System does run a little hot but that's probably to be expected. fans can get loud so I recommend some headphones.

I had my eye on this laptop for quite some time. This is my first "gaming" computer/laptop and I am absolutely NOT disappointed. I am able to play games like Overwatch & World of Warcraft on Ultra settings and everything is seamless and beautiful.
The only thing about this laptop is that the fans can whir pretty loudly, although the laptop does not get that hot. I went in knowing that the fans were loud, so that was expected. It is fairly light for what it is.

Good laptop, a few complaints

Overall it's been a pretty good laptop. Doesn't seem to have any issues running any of the games I play on high graphics settings at 60fps. I do have a few complaints though:
1. The screen brightness control was non-functional right out of the box. This was a bit annoying but I managed to find the fix shortly after. All you need to do is download the NVIDIA Geforce Experience application and use it to download the latest driver.
2. The speakers on the laptop are pretty terrible. When I'm not gaming I spend a good amount of time on my laptop watching Netflix and I prefer not to use headphones. I've tried messing with the Realtek drivers but still haven't managed to make any improvements. This may not come as much of a surprise, since most gamers are probably using headphones or external speakers, but I figured I'd include this note for the other people like me. So, if you plan on playing games or watching videos using the basic laptop speakers, you've been warned.
3. It can get pretty hot. There seems to be a bit of a design flaw with the heat vent positioning. When the screen is opened, the bottom of the screen curls back behind the entire rear end of the base. It just so happens that all of the heat vents are lined up along that back end, this results in all of the exiting hot air being blown straight onto the bottom of the screen.

Thai has been the most useful thing I have bought from best buy. This little thing has served me well through the years and even got me through engineering school. Change the hard drive to an SSD and this thing will never die in you.

I purchased this a few hours ago and so far I love it! The speeds are insane! I am able to run everything I own at top-notch settings! I bought it while it was on-sale for $100 off so this was a steal! The keyboard backlight is a bit dim but I live the speed and the fan is SUPER silent! I love ASUS and Best Buy!

I bought this computer only last week during a Black Friday in July sale and got it for $1k which is a steal when looking at the specs. I wanted a backup to my desktop, plus between my husband and I, we need more than 1 computer since we're always kicking each other off it.
When you get it, keep in mind when you first set it up, Windows will take 2-3 hours to get ready and installed. What's nice is that instead of coming prepackaged with a lot of bloatware, it gives you the option of installing the apps you want, and includes some useful apps for free.
Now to the workings. The ROG monitor is top notch. Knowing the status is helpful, and I can see why they put it on this computer. It needs it! I ran Overwatch on Epic settings, and it felt like I was pushing the limits with the heat going to 85c and up and memory at max. I turned it down to Ultra, and it was better, but for that, I can run on my year and a half old desktop which handles Ultra. My husband tried out Minecraft on it and it was running choppy! I checked the status, and the heat and memory were maxed. I had a hard time thinking that Minecraft would use more resources than Overwatch, but on this computer, it did.
So I debated on whether or not to return it, since the main reason I got this was to run games. I get home today, and it refuses to find my network! Despite resetting everything and having the computer by my router, it won't connect. I don't know if it got fried from running Minecraft, or what. That's another thing. There is a huge design flaw with the fan placement. It's on the back of the computer, but when you open the lid, it's partially blocking the fan, causing the heat to go upward. If you feel above the keyboard, you will see how hot it gets. It also had issues updating the video card drivers, I tried everything that was recommended and no dice.
I wanted to keep this laptop, I really did. My last gaming laptop was an Asus and it served me well for a long time. However I don't know if I got a lemon or if I just need something different, but it wasn't working for me. Hopefully you'll have better luck than me!

Compared to the GL552VW line, this one is a tad lighter, which is a great thing to have because the GL552VW is above 2.5kg, or 5.5lbs. 4 hours of battery life leaves room for improvement, clearly, given that the battery on this one is non-detachable.

I have owned this laptop from the time it came out. I multiscreen and 2 box Warcraft on high settings with 80-100fps. Can't beat that. Only improvement it needs is an SSD to boot up faster.

Most G-sync monitors are around 800$ alone, but this has G-sync with a GTX 1060 and an i7 7700HQ, you won't find a better deal. I've ran the witcher 3 at ultra settings with hairworks off and got a solid 70 fps, up to 100 if you knock a few things down. Every other game easily over 60 fps. Only docking a point because it does get hot, but it is still considered ssafe temperatures for intel CPU's. would give a 4.5/5

All in all this computer can handle pretty much everything you throw at it. Im runnning LOL at ultra high and getting 120+ fps and CS:GO at ultra at around the same. Super user friendly and perfect for video editing, live streaming.
10/10 for the price, power, and performance

Great product, but there is a problem. If you move the headphone jack a little bit you have to reconnect the headphones or else it will start playing through the speakers. You get used to it after a while. (This happened on 2, the one I had before I returned it and a different one after)

Everything about this laptop is just what a gamer / student wants. But unfortunately it only has thunderbolt 2 and not 3. The model with the 6th gen i7 oddly enough has thunderbolt 3. I am disappointed in this product because thunderbolt 3 gives you the option to externally attach a desktop graphics card.

Issue after issue

I had high hopes for this computer since my last laptop was an Asus and lasted me over 6 years. However this one has been nothing but fail. I purchased the laptop a few days ago and noticed that the track pad is highly sensitive no matter how much I adjust the settings. Also it seemed really "loose" as in it is so noisy just by tapping on it or moving your finger around. Lastly the wifi kept dropping in and out at random times. I took that laptop back and exchanged it last night thinking maybe I got a lemon. While I was there I tested the track pad on some of there other models and none of them had this issue. So after the exchange I bring it home and same issue. I figured maybe I can live with it as long as the wifi works, however same issue with wifi. Guess I will be returning it today and just buying what I should have brought in the first place. I am so disappointed with Asus right now.
