A powerful beast lurking here!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had done my homework reviewing multiple gaming laptops over the past couple of months. I even purchased a few different brands trying to obtain that perfect mobile gaming machine. A few came close however they all had one thing in common, very poor build quality especially the screen. Behold we have the Asus GL502VT gaming laptop finally! At first I was like wow this is really cool looking and oh my the orange accents are bold. Then I fired it up and was stunned at the screen quality on this machine. The colors are vibrant and pop out at you. The laptop is surprisingly light for its class and very sturdy build quality. The sound quality is above average for only having two speakers which are nicely placed on opposite sides of the trackpad. The 12GBs of DDR4 are more than adequate for getting the job done. The NVidia GTX 970M is a powerhouse for a mobile GPU. This baby delivers 120GBs of graphic bandwidth on a 192bit PCIe 3.0 bus. Plays all your games on High or Higher settings maxxed out at 1080P with ease. The only negative I would have to say is the pokey 1TB 5400rpm mechanical hard drive Asus included with this laptop. "Do yourself a favor" Swap out for an SSD HD and or M2 SSD. You will not regret. I replaced the mechanical hard drive with a Samsung 850 EVO 1TB SSD. What a difference! Night and day, From the included screen shot I attached you can see this makes this laptop scream with performance. Boots in less than 5 seconds flat! Go grab one today and get your gaming on! You will not regret it!

Colors displayed by the screen are yellowish.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The laptop works really well justifying the horse power that is packed into the device. Unfortunately the display of the laptop is not that great. The display has a yellowish tint and no amount of software tweaks( Disabling ASUS splendid utility, Windows color management profiles nor the intel HD graphics control pannel defaults could fix the problem ) would help in correcting the whites on the display. Whites look yellowish and it feels irritating to eyes after working on it for small period of time. The laptop is currently not in US as it has been taken to other country. Hope to get it fixed at an ASUS service center. It's really not worth sending $899 if you get a yellowish looking display. To show the problem I have also attached picture comparing the display of an old laptop Hp pavalion DM-4 1024 and the ROG GL502-VT

Keyboard's keycap broken
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased one of this laptop and made a replacement return because the keycap was broken (fall off). Otherwise that was a nice laptop. When i get my replacement (2nd), the keyboard was fine, but I not sure why the system get frozen sometime and need to wait for about 30 seconds and it started working again. The reason why I still keep the laptop was because I went back to my home country and past the 14 days retur period.

Great Product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall great product for the money. The GTX 970m is a great mobile gpu. You will be able to achieve decent frame rates at 1080p. The keyboard on this laptop is also quite good as is the track pad. One of the reasons I chose this laptop is the form factor. It is not giant and bulky but it has the performance to game. And if you want you can always hook it to an external monitor. Now for my few complaints. For 1199.00 I would expect at least a 7200 rpm drive. A 5400 rpm drive is unacceptable for a laptop at this price point. Luckily you can upgrade to a ssd easily. My second complaint is the screen is a little dull and viewing angles could be better. And finally it can really be a fingerprint magnet. If you are ocd like me it will probably have you cleaning it daily. But overall this is a great laptop for gaming at a decent price.

Absolutely pleased with my purchase
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As far as laptops go, this was a phenomenal purchase. I came in during a sale, and originally i was going to get a microphone, but seeing this laptop out on the floor for $860 and seeing as i needed one, i wasnt going to let it go away. Then i ended finding an open box one and got it for $750. This is normally priced between 1200 to 1300. I can definitely say it is worth the value. I run games on high settings and never see a dip, graphics are gorgeous as well. Battery life is phenomenal as well, i left it on sleep for two days and i still had almost another hour and a half of life left. The fan is quiet until you get into maybe your 3rd hour of gaming. The big benefit was that it isnt a big computer to carry around. Im a college student and a part timer. I take my work everywhere, this laptop isnt a pain to carry and is pretty comfortable. All i can say is if you want a good versatile laptop and you like graphically pleasing games or need a high amount of frames, this is a laptop that i believe is worth the purchase.

Decent Machine
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Decent Machine all about how much you get it for 900 and below is a good deal for the specs but the display is tn the build is meh and only a spinning hdd is og now days. But the i7 memory and gpu as well as having a disc drive in a reasonably sized machine is great. Again 9 and under go for it otherwise look to something with a 1050ti or a bit more for the 1060.

Gaming at its most portable/not finest
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As the title says. Loaded it with 950 pro 256 nvme ssd as boot and 850 evo 512gb ssd. Best upgrade ever and save more money this way DIY style. 12gb ram is plenty for games and video editing with adobe premier. Scrubbing still lags, definitly use a work station. Gaming wise...runs like a kitten on everything i throw at it at high settings. Noticed lag at max resolutions 1080p . Im fine with 720p gaming. Cooling is awesome!!!! Temps under control and even overclocked it with msi afterburner and running fps as if it was a 980m. Defective ram module...but i bought this unit as an open box. Sent to asus and are fast in returning it with new ram and new mb. Awesome support service.

Good computer if on sale
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got his laptop on sale for about 775 which is a great price for a gtx970m laptop. It is show its age a little compared to the gtx 1050ti though. The screen is kinda crummy its a tn panel. An ssd is not included which makes the user experience a little slow. Build quality is great and i am overall every pleased. I would wait for a sale, this thing should drop pretty low eventually.

Good price/performance ratio
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this laptop specifically for gaming. For the price, it offers great specs. Also; for a gaming laptop it is fairly light. It is under 5lbs, which for me is nice because I travel a lot. the GTX 970 graphics card keeps up just fine with my games, running most of them on high/ultra settings around 60 fps.

great buy for price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have wanted a gaming laptop for a long time and had been eyeing the Asus line for a while. Even so i made some comparisons while i was there and referenced an Alienware that had the exact specs of the Asus laptop i purchased which ended up being $600 less than the Alienware! My friends got me on Steam playing Dead by Daylight and Doom. It plays on max settings with no problems at all.

Big performance at modest price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm a college student and casual gamer. Unfortunately, I don't know much about computer specs and what they all pertain to. But I can tell you that my experience using the laptop has been nothing but positive. All my games from Undertale to Bioshock Infinite and Skyrim run with smooth, unhindered performance (but most of you reading this could probably figure all that out from the listed specs). The battery life is good enough when unplugged to handle about 5-6 hours of web browsing, or work in Powerpoint or Word (so you don't have to leave the library if you forget your charger). A complaint with this laptop is the sound capability. The speakers are tiny, maybe an inch or two long, and located on a weird spot (in the bottom corners almost, below the keyboard). One other thing that bothers me about this computer is the size of the charger block. It's massive, probably 2x5x1 inches which makes it hard to transport. But I suppose that's expected considering the awesome capability of this device.

Great deal on a great laptop
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had been looking for a laptop after having outlasted my last one through college, and this laptop definitely took the cake in terms of price and quality. It has great performance, but I'd only suggest migrating the OS to an SSD as others have suggested because the built in hard drive is sluggish at times.

Great Performance. Okay Screen and Speakers
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The laptop performs great. The CPU handles any game with ease and doesn't seem to throttle. The GPU is really great and can play most games at high settings (or better) at 50-60fps. It is not a whisper quiet laptop when gaming but It isn't terribly loud either however you will hear it work when under a heavy load. The screen is a TN panel. The horizontal viewing angles are really good but the vertical viewing angles aren't that great (But that isn't a huge issue most of the time). The speakers are not amazing and lack bass, which is made up for somewhat by the preinstalled software. I recommend getting an M.2 SSD (you will need to partition it before use) for a boot drive to get boot speeds under 15 seconds, after you install windows on it. (Google/Bing is your friend if you're not sure how to do that).

Great Deal
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop performs great. Only two issues are screen and hard drive. Upgrade to SSD makes the performance killer. The screen quality is not great but it is livable with the price of the laptop.

Great Portable Gaming
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am very happy with this purchase. I am in the Army and travel a good bit. This is a great portable gaming laptop as it is very light and quiet. I researched a lot before my purchase, and really wanted a laptop with a GTX1060. With that being said I am pleased with the 970m, it is handling my games at high settings. Mine is also very fast at boot up, I read a lot of reviews that said they had the 5200 rpm drive, but mine has the 7200 rpm. I just wished it had the IPS display. Overall I am very happy and do not regret my purchase.

Great for the price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted a decently priced laptop that could also handle the newer PC games. This does that very well! I haven't had issues with the laptop not being able to handle things and I can usually plays games on the high(est) graphic settings without any problems. It was easy to set up and didn't have a ton of useless programs on startup like a lot of newer PCs do. Overall, a great laptop. I've had a few issues with the charger not easily working, but I think that may just be an issue specific to my charger and I'm sure I could get a new one with my warranty if I wanted to.
