If you are a controller snob "oh it feels cheap and plastic" dont buy this by any means. Because it is plastic!!! Most controllers are. The M buttons are in an awkward spot, but it works out for me becaus i can bind them to things i dont want to accidentally push. Only use it for pc but xbox should be just as difficult/easy( you have to go in the menu to switch from usb/2.4/Bluetooth... a bit of a hassle.i bought this controller knowing what ut was ans what it wasnt, its not gonna make you better gimmicks galore with a high price tag

Stay clear if you are pairing with rog ally
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.It took me over 4 hours to get this setup on the asus rog ally. I returned it! Firstly the drivers need to be downloaded to the devices as an update to use Bluetooth. The instruction manual does not explicitly tell you how to get the controller into Bluetooth mode. The setting on the controller need to be set for this to work. Using the on board controller screen you need to follow the prompts to tell it to operate in Bluetooth mode. Got that working after about 45 minutes of research, ok how do I enable the back buttons… after another hour you need to PLUG THE CONTROLLER IN and do an update on armory crate which introduces a new option under the settings panel. Mind you the controller settings can only be changed while it’s plugged in.. also you need a mouse connected to your rog ally to even use this menu as the screen is designed for larger monitors!!!! Ok figured this out, awaiting the files to be transferred via cable. It took 10 minutes.. Ok enabled the back button simply set them to other button on the controller like LB/RB, LTC/B button.. I’m in about 2 hours at this point, l fire up my game and the button are not being recognized. Never worked!! Also the dead zone of this controller matches the broken deadzone of the rog ally build in thumb sticks. I simply went back and returned it.

Not worth the price

It feels light and cheap. the general quality of materials and feel of the controller is not what I would expect from $170 controller more like $50-60. I’ll stick to my razer wolverine v2.

Completely missed the mark

Huge ROG fanboy and usually overlook small issues. First of the price is TGH. I bought it knowingly that it was overly expensive so I cant really complain about that. The issue is that most features are stripped away unless you plug the controller in. No wireless Xbox connectivity (knew this before purchase), no aura sync unless USB connection and no Armory Crate unless USB connected. OK, so at least you can make profiles and name them to change on the screen mounted on the controller, right? No. You can only have four profiles and the profile names don't transfer from Armory crate to the controller so you will have to memorize the locations. Also these profiles only support basic lighting features so your customization is severely limited. Controller is significantly less premium feeling than the Elite V2, entirely plastic. No rubber or metal at all. Controller screen stays on for a max of 5 min whether or not it is plugged in. The rear Mx keys cannot be mapped to keyboard keys or macros. Only to already existing buttons on the controller. Useless

Unfortunately the back buttons can only be mapped to other buttons on the controller (not even keyboard keys) and steam didn’t recognize them at all so I couldn’t even remap them that way. Also I’m not sure why but the whole controller just felt off somehow. The rgb was the only feature I liked and it’s not even important. The screen is a cool idea but its whole purpose is to display a logo.

Ill stick with Elite Series 2. This is like holding a cheap $35.00 controller. Has zero substance to it. Not at $70. Would I buy this, it’ll pass away and most wont notice it.

There is a secret compartment where the dongle is the four buttons underneath. The control plate is really good for your tactical gameplay if you set them up with the proper button and schemes. Good for RPGs multiplayer games as well. I'm not sure if the directional pad on the left is haptic. Other than that, as of now is a pretty good controller

The LED screen is cool but has no true functionality and my controller came with a sticky X button. Overall decent “pro” controller but the Xbox Elite series 2 reigns supreme

Better than Xbox Elite

I have used the Xbox Elite 2 for the longest, and after the 4th time of the joysticks messing up and the triggers freezing in place, decided to try out this controller instead. While the controller is much lighter and feels more fragile, the actual controls are much smoother than the Xbox Elite. I am more used to the paddle style of back buttons, but have no problem with the ones here, just will take some getting used to. Overall, another stellar product from Asus. Also, while this controller is expensive, it is still less expensive than the competition. (Xbox Elite 2, Razer Wolverine V2 Pro, etc.)
