Great Router, Over 5,000 sqft, great coverage
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This Router replaced a Netgear RAX 120 Wifi-6 router. The Netgear was good till the addition of a PS5. on wifi it could not handle the speed. I have a large home ( 5,294 sqft) and 43 devices, and Heavy streaming (8 TVs through Fire tv), two PS4s and Nintendo Switch. I also have a Netgear EX80 range extender to cover outside devices. on the RAX 120, I was getting 135 mbps through the extender on 5G. On the Asus, my extender is getting 257 mbps on the same speed test. So, the range is more stable. Also the ping is 16ms down from 24. for gaming, I didn't realize how much it was lagging with the old router. Online gaming is more stable. Also with the Asus Router App, you have so much more control over your devices. you can optimize devices per their function. The Router does a very good job of identifying what is attached. Setup was a breeze, I kept the same SSIDs and passwords, and all my devices immediately connected. As for the TV (Streaming), the pictures are more clearer after the switch. There are other newer routers WIFI-6E, but unless you have a device with 6ghz capability, (only a few phones to my knowledge) it is not going to do anything for the average consumer. WIFI-7 routers are coming in 2023, but looking at those prices (I have not seen one with a preliminary price under a $1000), again not something necessary for the average consumer. With a 1gbps download 50mbps upload plan from my internet service provider, this router delivered 936.51 and 52.45 wirelessly, with a ping of 13.51milliseconds. My provider is upgrading my area to fiber internet and should be done within two months. The GTAX11000 PRO is able to take 2.5 gbps service via a single port, and up to 3.5 gbps with port aggregation. So it is capable of handling just about all internet plans currently out there. Remember 5,000 sqft 1 acre, and my backyard entertainment/pool area is covered with no equipment outside of the house.

Finally- it went down and asked to be wired to the PC itself. No thanks. Pretty unreliable in my opinion. I owned for approximately 2 months

Defective

Signal strength bounced all over the place, and gaming lagged to the point where the game was unplayable, even hard lined. Had to return it. I am debating trying another unit, but this thing drove me crazy, so I am hesitant to drop the money on such a bad experience.

I worked for a little over a month and then began having issues. Had my cable provider to check all my cables to verify the problem with 2 separate service calls. NOT dependable, not reliable, and definitely not worth the experience.

Asus makes some of the best computer computer components and i have to say... they certainly didnt disappoint with their router! You can prioritize internet traffic with the built in QOS service for gaming, streaming, working at home, and a few other categories. Speed doesnt seem to dwindle no matter how many devices are connected. And the UI is very user friendly and offers many features for advanced users as well. Top notch router at an affordable price!

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Saw great reviews and decided to try it since I was making the switch to fiber internet but wasn’t sure if I wanted to spend so much on a router, I always had issues with the cable company supplied routers or the Nighthawk I had randomly dropping out and needing to get power cycled. Sometimes they would also start losing connection to some devices on my network that would force me to re discover them. I could also never go outside my 1,500 sqft house and keep a wifi connection, ever since I switched to this router 2 months ago it has worked flawless with my hard wired devices and even better with my WiFi ones, I can now go out to my garage or back yard and still have full WiFi signal and I haven’t had anything drop out once or need to get rediscovered. I can say it’s worth the price so far but I didn’t expect much less from ASUS. It made it feel like any other router is just a waste of money. Side tip if you are looking into fiber speeds of 2G or more, this router supports it with a 2.5g or a 10g port you can use, most of the cable companies will sell you on the higher speed internet and only supply you with a Router that has only two 1G ports so they essentially will gladly take your money for a “faster speed” that you will never get because of their “free” router that will choke it down.
