It does the job quite well. Amazing interface. Highly customizable. Multi band four channels wifi with multiple hard ports on the back. This is a beast. However, it is pricey, and you definitely get what you pay for. That's the only reason I gave it 4 out of 5 stars. It was a big hit to my pocketbook although it is well worth it.

This router is exactly what I payed for and more! I didn’t think that the jump would be that great, but it boosted my 1 gbps speed from getting an average of 660 to it averaging 995 now! Well worth the upgrade and I will keep this thing for years now compared to paying a subscription for my router! Definitely recommend.

I am enjoying the speeds even without many wifi 7 devices. It seems better than the ASUS ax11000 its replacing. I ran some ethernet cable to have a better backbone for the mesh network. Excellent.

I've had the Asus ZenWifi Pro ET12 AI Mesh system for two years it was great. I wanted to add another node so I took a chance on the GT-BE98 as an upgrade but still able to operate in a mesh with my existing setup. Migration was simple. Backup my ET12 and then restore onto the GT-BE98. I would say 90% of the settings was transferred over, there was that 10% mainly on the WiFi network setup that needed to be adjusted because the new router has other features like WiFi 7. After that was sorted. It was easy to add my other nodes as AI Mesh endpoints with a dedicated 2.5G wired backhaul. I think it's great that Asus makes the AI Mesh interoperable between units and different generations f WiFi. Obviously Mu-MIMO only works on the GT-BE98 but the other WiFi 6E features work on the other nodes. I also upgraded my connection to the internet from 2.5G to 10G, but currently I only pay for 1G since I rarely need more than that. It's great to know it's upgradeable.

Top of the line router, i'm so glad ASUS is in this market now after years of only buying Netgear. While this is very expensive i now have a proper multi-gig router. I can get the full 2.5 gigs that Comcast provides without any bottlenecks due to networking gear. Also a dedicated 10gig port which i have my mulit gig NAS hooked up to.

I had the model prior to this one and did not get consistent speeds. This router works very well with the Verizon Fios 2 gig service. I get speeds of 2300mbps download and upload

It was time for an upgrade, my Asus 3100 router was old and so was the cable plant in my home. I changed by Cat 5 to Cat 6 cable and upgraded to the GT-BE98. This router is a beast! It has endless configuration options, including two separate 6ghz radios. I wired my gaming PC directly to the router so I minimized any bottlenecks. Signal range was about the same as my old 3100. I don’t have many devices that use Wi-Fi 7, only our new iPhone 17s. Once I upgraded my FIOS connection to 2GBPS, my speed tests (done from the router) went from 630MBPS to 2350MGPS! HUGE improvement. If you want to maximize your options, this is the router to buy. It is expensive, but can be configured for endless scenarios and is as future proof as I could find.

setup was... a bit of an adventure.
So the base firmwar on this router was SO old that it did NOT know how to talk to my fiber modem... it just was full Patrick with a nail in his forehead.
I had to tether my phone via usb to the modem to update its firmware.
After that? This may be the fastest router ive ever had.
almost 80mb/s down from over 100yds away.
In house? doing almost 600mb/s on an iphone 13.
My wired pc... getting within 4% of my rated up down of 1gb... doing north of 940up and down.
This thing cooks... quite literally. Give it open air.. the top vent realllllly puts out some heat.

This is an awesome product for whatever you may need this for ! Currently have a 10gb/s plan and it helps get every thing I can get out of the plan. If you have a high tech home, want to separate devices and rooms on their own individual networks you can do this too !

I upgraded from a Wi-Fi 6 setup and the difference is huge. My ping dropped in multiplayer games, downloads are blazing fast, and I can stream 4K while gaming with zero buffering. The quad-band setup manages multiple devices with ease, and the gaming prioritization features actually work. If you’re building a high-end setup, this router is a must.

It works great as it should! I would purchase it again. One thing I noticed though is it seems since having this I noticed devices connected to router like my computer, iPad, phone, and such... etc... I noticed one on it called Cloud Network Technology singap, which I do not have a device that says that, I looked it up and apparently the China company that makes this will connect to you network randomly, I do not think china needs to be connecting to my network at any time, they should connect to there now stuff not mine. But it is what it is, and seems to work great.

Best gaming router on the market hands down. Super user friendly and acts as modem as well, so I could drop the rental charge from ISP.
The dedicated ROG port for gaming makes the difference! I have 1gbps up/down fiber... this router is utilizing ALL of my bandwidth from my house to the ISP. Inside my house, I am gaining the FULL Hardwired ethernet connection and it dropping my online gaming ping by 25 locally, 100 continental US and Overseas!!!

The 4x 2.5GbE ports and 2x 10GbE ports really make this worth the money. Add that to the way this router utilizes 2 bands of 6Ghz WiFi as a backhual and standard offering for devices actauuly makes a 6GhZ mesh system worth it. Or maybe only worth. However thr distance of the wifi isnt great with the fater speeds this thing offers. So if thats your primary reason for purchasing this keep that in mind. My home network uses the Dual WAN and is a hybrid of Aimesh and Cat6 runs. Having the ability to have multi-gigabit WAN connections and then more ports to send that across my homes Cat6 is a must have for me. The GUI isnt unfamiliar from other Asus router offerings and still seems to operate much like all other Asus Dual WAN routers. So kinda meh for some but I never have had an issue. I hate RBG so being able to turn it off on thr router is also very nice.
