Unfortunate.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Unfortunately i can't recommend this product! I was really disappointed because this monitor looked great on paper, specs looked great, but it has a terrible backlit bleed through, especially on the two top corners and all along the bottom. I downloaded the app that controls the display but nothing i can do to stop the terrible back light. I will return this product.

Solid Monitor
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This monitor has been an outstanding upgrade to my desktop setup and instantly changed how smooth and responsive everything feels. The 1440p resolution is the sweet spot for gaming, offering sharp visuals without sacrificing performance, and the IPS panel delivers great color accuracy and wide viewing angles that look good from any position. The 255Hz refresh rate paired with the ultra fast 0.3ms response time is where this monitor really shines. Fast paced games feel incredibly fluid, with minimal motion blur and very responsive input. Tracking movement, quick turns, and fast reactions all feel more precise, and once you experience this level of smoothness it is hard to go back to a standard refresh rate display. Even everyday use like scrolling and switching between windows feels noticeably smoother. Image quality is excellent overall. Colors are vibrant without looking unnatural, contrast is solid for an IPS panel, and games look crisp and immersive. The screen handles bright rooms well, and I have had no issues with glare during long gaming sessions or daytime use. Build quality is exactly what you would expect from the ROG lineup. The stand is sturdy, the monitor feels premium, and there is plenty of adjustability for height, tilt, and swivel, making it easy to get a comfortable and ergonomic setup. It has a clean, aggressive gaming look that fits well without being distracting. Setup was quick and straightforward, and the monitor has been rock solid in daily use. Whether gaming or using it as my main desktop display, it consistently delivers smooth performance and great visuals. If you are looking for a high refresh rate 2K gaming monitor that combines speed, clarity, and strong overall image quality, this monitor is an excellent choice and feels like a meaningful upgrade the moment you turn it on.

A great all-rounder gaming monitor
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall, I'm a big fan of this monitor. The 2K resolution is nicer than 1080p without being as demanding to drive as 4K, so it still works great on lower powered gaming devices I hook up to it. Higher-powered devices can also take advantage of the higher refresh rate. The range of inputs is also nice - there's USB-C, DisplayPort, and HDMI; which covers just about any device I'd want to connect to this. The stand is compact enough to sit properly on my monitor stand without feeling delicately balanced or weak, and it doesn't feel like the monitor is going to tip over when I make adjustments to it. I also like that there are multiple buttons on the back, rather than just a D-pad - it feels better to use when making adjustments to things like input. Both gaming and the desktop experience on this screen are a pleasant experience. The high refresh rate helps it feel really smooth, and the colors are good for this type of panel. None of my games look bad or feel bad to play on it. I haven't had any problems with the viewing angle, either, which is nice for things like letting other people watch your gameplay. It's responsive enough that I don't notice any latency - though, for the record, I don't tend to play games competitive enough where tenths of milliseconds matter so I can only speak about that particular aspect as the average layperson. Overall, this is a really nice gaming monitor. It isn't particularly festooned with extras, but it's got all the core essentials I would want out of a gaming monitor. It's good enough to stand out from your average basic monitor, without requiring the extra overhead of a 4K or larger gaming screen. If you're a serious gamer, I'd say this monitor is an excellent middle-of-the-road choice - especially if you don't want to or can't afford to go all-in on 4K gaming.

Great monitor for all uses
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have really enjoyed having this monitor so far. It's been a good upgrade over the previous smaller, non-HDR monitor I've been using. I have this same brand monitor in a curved form and have like that one for a couple years now. This one compliments it nicely in my dual monitor setup and the physical design of the bezels is almost identical so they look great mounted next to each other. The colors on this monitor are very bright. The HDR does seem to make a big difference in that. The refresh rate is very helpful while gaming. I don't get any breaking when playing using my 3060 card. It all syncs up nicely once set up. The physical stand is pretty good although I prefer to get desk mount multi monitor stands so you don't have the big foot taking up desk space. But this stand will raise and lower from about 2in off the desk up to about 8in up. I did use it as an extra screen for my laptop for a bit and having the screen go down very low was helpful to keep them close. This monitor has every connection I would ask. The HDMI works well. I prefer the Displayport but that's probably just personal preference, the picture between the 2 seemed identical. The USB-c worked well and was the easiest for my laptop that's all USB-c ports. The only thing I wish they would have done was add a charger to the monitor so it kept the laptop topped off through the same USB-c but it only takes video. Would have been nice but definitely not a deal breaker. The resolution is the lowest I'd go on a 27" monitor these days but is definitely enough and the best value. I have very good eyesight and can barely tell a difference between this and 4k at 27". This is well worth the upgrade from HD though. Everything from gaming to documents is just much clearer and less eye straining. Overall I would definitely recommend this monitor. The settings are easy to adjust, the physical monitor looks upscale and the picture is clear and bright. I'm looking forward to having this for a long time.

An amazing monitor for gaming
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Republic of Gamers Strix 27” monitor from ASUS is a remarkable monitor for gamers, and complete overkill for everyone else. Of course, only a serious gamer is going to be looking at monitors with these features and at this price point, but it still bears saying. Setup is a breeze, with no tools required. Everything simply clicks or goes together with thumbscrews. Every cable you might reasonably need is included in a nice carry bag. Connections are Displayport 1.4 and HDMI 2.1, plus headphone and USB outputs that allow you to connect devices to your computer through the monitor. The features on the ROG Strix read like a gamer’s wish list. The 2K OLED images are VESA HRD 500 certified, meaning they are extremely sharp, bright, and the color perfectly matches the source. Refresh rate is extremely fast, aided by the NVIDIA G-SYNC chip with Freesync that ensures that the graphics on your monitor are in perfect timing with the NVIDIA GPU on your laptop. As soon as the image hits your graphics card, it is on the monitor. The features of the QD-OLED display mean that even if you aren’t gaming, this monitor looks amazing for work or video streaming. Aesthetically and ergonomically, the Strix is also top of class. The side and top bezels are very thin and the monitor stand adjusts for height and viewing angle. It also accepts a VESA mounting plate for built-in setups. Build quality is typical ASUS quality, which is to say the thing feels as solid as a piece of granite. If you’re looking for a high-end monitor with flexibility and power, you can’t go wrong with this monitor.

Fantastic monitor with a downside
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Every ASUS product I’ve used, I’ve held in high regard and this monitor is no different. First of all, the packaging itself is very minimal and it even comes with a small bag for your cords in case you want to travel with your monitor. The build quality of the monitor is solid. It’s made of plastic but it feels high quality. The base of the monitor is made of metal so it feels secure that it won’t break easily. You can also tilt and rotate the monitor quite easily too and it does not feel like it’s going to crack or break or fall off. The monitor quality itself is good however, you have that that odd backlight showing around the edges of the monitor. On mine, it’s most prominent at the top, but when you’re playing, I find that I do not notice it much. The picture quality is crisp and clear and the colors look amazing. You can change these settings very easily too. Using this monitor for competitive games is amazing. The high refresh rate and the polling seems very solid and crisp and fast to my eyes.

High quality display with HDR support
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I added this monitor as a second display next to my Samsung Odyssey G91F 49" display (5120x1440). The monitors are identical height, so they fit perfectly together. They are both the same vertical resolution (1440) so they mesh perfectly. Since both support HDR the images match across both. I don't have any games that support multiple monitors, so I could not test this along side the Samsung. But this ASUS monitor worked well with any content I displayed on it. The higher than HD resolution (2560x1440) is welcome not only for gaming but for general PC use as well. Text is crisp and clear. I played a 4K video (Blade Runner 1982) using Windows Media Player and the quality of the image was very good. I then played the same video with VLC player, and the quality was even better. I tried a more recent movie (Star Wars Episode IX, the Rise of Skywalker 2019) with the same high quality. This monitor will work very well for gaming, video playback, and just general PC uses. The stand is solid and being a single pedestal makes placement simple. It adjusts both the height and rotation for however you want to use it.

Great monitor for price point!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Specs This PC monitor boasts a 27” display, 1440p resolution, 255 Hz refresh rate, and 0.3 ms response time. It uses AI-powered GamePlus technology to automatically enhance gameplay. It is also compatible with FreeSync Premium, which enables a variable refresh rate. With multiple ways to connect, it is versatile for most techonologies. Pros This monitor has versatile connectivity with ports for Type C, HDMI, and DisplayPort. There is very little lag while gaming on large programs and smooth gameplay. GamePlus technology is super helpful – for example, it brightens low light areas without overexposing bright areas. Cons Bigger monitors tend to add a curvature to enhance experience, and part of me wishes this one was curved at this size. Curvature helps increase immersion while reducing eye strain, though they tend to come at a higher cost. Conclusion The technology for the price point is spectacular, making it something gamers can actually afford to upgrade their systems. I use mine as part of a dual monitor set-up and really enjoy how easy it was to use out of the box.

Sturdy Physically, Solid in Performance
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Team Lift. Every read that on a package that you have brought home from the store? Its a warning to let you know that box is heavy. This ASUS ROG Strix 27 inch monitor may not have this written on hits packaging, but it should. This monitor is surprisingly dense for its size. I know, most people don't typically look for a hefty monitor. Its not something you will see in the advertisements. But a lot of people, knowingly or not, associate weight with quality. And in this case, there definitely is a correlation. After manage to pull this beast out of the box, assembly is straight forward, no tools required. This monitor, as with most current gaming hardware, comes with both an HDMI and a DisplayPort input. No speakers are built in to this monitor. I know that real gamers use their own headsets, but I would still like to have some speakers for testing or troubleshooting. Where this monitor jumps out away from most current gaming hardware is the 0.3ms response time. Read that again: 0.3ms response time. This monitor is FAST. And if you are competing in any platform, speed is good. The faster you see someone bounding around a corner, you have a distinct advantage. The quicker you see those corners, the easier you can hit the apex. Time in an invaluable asset, and this bit of hardware gives you a distinct advantage there. The 2K resolution is also pretty solid and gives a darn decent image also. If I had to pick a shortfall to this monitor, it might be the horizontal viewing angle. On paper, this device shows 178* horizontal and viewing angle. Can I see the image at 178*? Sure. But I honestly don't think the image clarity is there at that angle. But I mean, who games...or really does anything computer related at pretty much the complete side of their monitor? No one. But what appeared to be a skewed image did catch me off guard as I was approaching the monitor after grabbing a beverage and made me double check the advertised viewing angle. I do wish I would have got the 32 inch model, however this 27 inch monitor will definitely get the job done. Would I recommend this monitor? Assuming you have your own headset or audio system, I definitely would. This monitor is loaded where it counts.

Excellent gaming monitor with 15W powered USB C in
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really like this monitor and the blue light filtering with the monitor itself is awesome, especially if you get the application working on the computer that lets you adjust the monitor, the side buttons are big and easy to use, but still the convenience of switching to a different mode that is set up how you want to switch use cases is pretty awesome. I have a camera that is use sometimes that sets on top of the monitor that I was concerned might block part of the screen when I first saw the plastic at the top, but there is a bezel that looks like it is part of the screen as well, so it wasn’t an issue at all. Overall the image is crisp and awesome for gaming. It is more of a matte finish then a shiny one and doesn’t quite have the same eye popping color as the one I put it next to on my desk, but that was is also in a different price range and if I didn’t have them right next to each other sitting down at one versus the other would not make a difference for me and this is all I need for an awesome gaming session. There is an auto brightness feature that went crazy on me, where ever the sensor is just didn’t work for me, it would get super dim and super bright in a very short period of time and mess with me as I was trying to do things, if you are wanting auto brightness, be aware of that potential issue. For me, I hate auto brightness, so I disabled it and it has worked absolutely fantastically. There is a display port, USB C port, HDMI, and Aux port. The USB C port can support up to 15W of charging for a device you plug into it, this was specially designed I feel like for Samsung Dex or Android Desktop from your phone. It is absolutely perfect for that and works excellently, the Aux port even makes a little sense this way as well. Overall, I dislike having an Aux port on the monitor, I’ll use the one from my computer or docking station, it just gives me an extra selection to ignore in the audio selector or more likely to accidentally select. The response time and refresh rate is excellent for gaming is excellent and overall, I absolutely love the monitor.
