This is the first OLED monitor I’ve had as a daily driver, and I can now say that I think all the OLED hype is warranted. The display looks ridiculously good. Beyond that, it supports a high refresh rate, is very sharp, and offers great connectivity (mostly). It comes with the monitor itself, a stand, VESA mount, manual, microfiber cloth, and all the cables you will need (Display Port, HDMI, USB-C, USB-B to A, power). I don’t normally comment on packaging, but they did a really nice job here. Neat, labeled, with a pouch. Not a big thing, but nice to see. As for the build, again, I think it is well done. Assembly is quite simple. Once together, it is solid and good weight. About what you would expect. It has a nice range of motion, with swivel, tilt and full 90 degree rotation. There is also a threaded mount on the top for cams, mics, or lights. I have never seen this before, perhaps it is a common thing, but I think that is a great add. As is the channel for cabling. There is a lot of plastic here, which is kind of the norm these days, but as a whole, i like the build and have zero concerns going forward. I do, however, wish it had speakers. I suppose I get the market, and headphones will be used a lot, but I think not being able to casually watch something and have sound natively is a really big miss from them. As for the look? Overall, I like it. To be clear, I like boring, plain, and clean. Which this mostly is. The stand is pretty basic, with a hint of “gamer,” and there is LED logo light on the back (which is very subtle), but it mostly has a clean look. The panel Is “slightly” thick, as is the stand, but that is only noticeable from the side. Just something to note. Connectivity is quite good and gives you options. 2 HDMI 2.1 inputs, 1 DisplayPort 1.4, 1 USB-C DisplayPort (which has 90W charging) and a USB hub of sorts. All in all, most will be covered and pleased here, but I don’t know why they went with an older DisplayPort spec, given the resolution of the panel. When it comes to the most important part, though, the picture quality, they did not miss. Full stop. It is fantastic. Colors are accurate, full, and detailed. HDR hits. Details are sharp and crispy. Everything is vivid and bright, and the blacks, well, are probably the best I have personally seen in my daily use. Further, it also performs well. I have not seen any tearing, flickering, lag, really any of it to this point while gaming. It has been very consistent. Lastly, it also does well in the day to day, be it media consumption, or simply general life tasks. Lastly, Asus offers a nice selection of software and tools to reduce the risk of burn in. Pixel cleaning, a number of auto detection tools, etc…and something they call a Neo Proximity Sensor that detects when no user it present and transitions the monitor to a black screen. So far, this has all worked well for me, although you will need to dial it in a bit. Given the nature of OLED, all of these are nice adds and welcome from me. Ultimately, I am very happy with this monitor, despite the lack of speakers. It is very well-built, looks good, has a nice feature set, and, most importantly, delivers an absolutely wonderful image. I, personally, would like to go with an even larger size, but that is just me. This is somewhat of a “premium” product, but for all the performance and specs you get, I think the value is definitely there and it’s easy for me to recommend it to anyone looking for 4K in this size.

A very powerful high-end 27-inch 4K 240Hz OLED gaming monitor. It maintains a sleek and stylish appearance with familiar ASUS design language, if you've used a prior Asus monitor, you'll feel right at home. Offering two placement options, an adjustable height, rotatable stand or VESA mount adapter. It brings to the table multiple placement options for end-users. Getting off the ground and going is very straightforward. Only referencing the diagram points on the packaging and very minimal diagram documentation found in the packaging. There is a QR code found inside the package for a quick start guide online if more assistance in fleshing out it's features or setup is needed. Combined with the two-piece stand with toolless assembly, it makes for a very easy setup. The OSD menu options are organized and easy to locate. With it's 2 buttons and directional found on the rear of the bottom frame, controlling most functions is a breeze. Going thru the menus to confirm and familiarize myself with the settings is simple. My only issue, and it may be an environmental factor in my space, was the aura light settings. I initially believed I was changing the lights on the panel, meaning the power button/ROG icon that highlights when powered on. Using "breathing" then "static" while setting a specific color that would become obvious that it's changed, was sorta baffling when it didn't. It wasn't until disabling the RGB puke coming out of my own case did I realize that the only thing I changed was the lights on the back of the panel, a little disappointing and slightly annoying that changing these aren't a function you could control. While running through the OSD menus, I stumbled onto the proximity sensor settings. I ended up using auto detection so it could measure distance between me sitting in front of the screen and know when I walked away, sadly I never could get this to trigger and ultimately assumed it were detecting my chair when I did walk away. The monitor offers 2 HDMI ports, 1 DisplayPort, several USB ports, and USB Type-C input with 90W Power Delivery for a versatile configuration. After setting up for success, enabling the highest refresh my machine could handle and a resolution that was workable for my eyes; 4k, 2k, 1080p for various tasks. I learned this had incredible performance for just about any task you throw at it. With its high refresh, vivid colors and one of the game visual presets, playing anything I've tested gives it impressive visuals. Vivid colors, sharp images, fluid motion, little to no blur, darks that are dark and brights that are... well, you get the idea. It's great for games, movies, text documents? and just about any other task you might want to throw at it. Incredibly fast and when paired with the screens vivid colors, this makes for a good combination for both fast paced games and visually driven game scenery. The panel offers some preset color modes, from fps, moba, scenery, night, and such. *** Highlights *** Design * Sleek and modern design with a sturdy aluminum frame * Compact footprint with a height-adjustable stand * Good cable management options Performance * Excellent gaming performance with fast response time and high refresh rate * Good color accuracy and wide color gamut * Supports NVIDIA G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Features * Excellent OLED display with crisp, smooth, and vibrant colors * Fast 240Hz refresh rate and 0.03ms response time for seamless gaming performance * USB Type-C input with 90W Power Delivery * KVM Support * VESA mount adapter for easy mounting * OLED care features, including anti-flicker mode and proximity sensor All in all, this hits all the right boxes, giving you an impressive image quality and a speed that keeps you competitive. You may need to tinker with it, between games and profiles, but this puts other panels in a similar price range to shame. This is worth 5-stars.

I set up the ASUS ROG Strix 27” 4K QD-OLED and was immediately blown away just by how good THE DESKTOP looked. I immediately had to fire up the most beautiful games I own. I started with Clair Obsur: Expedition 33 and while the cutscenes were pre-rendered to not take full advantage of the full HDR color gamut and darkness of an OLED monitor, once the actual game started I was in awe of the beauty on display. Once the expedition was on the island you could see the incredible contrast of the god rays on the verdant green grass before a pitch black cave with glowing flora. My partner, who is a gamer but doesn’t care as much about graphical fidelity, walked by my office and literally said, “oh my god, the picture is beautiful.” It’s an absolute head-turner in visual fidelity. And with a ppi of 166, I was seamlessly able to switch over to my job as a programmer and not feel any eye-strain. Previous generations and I’m sure other manufacturers cut costs with a low ppi that can make text hard to read on the eyes. This one does not! This monitor has a 240hz refresh rate, .03ms response time, and G-SYNC/Freesync. All these add up to a buttery smooth experience in game. I wanted to test not only visual fidelity but also responsiveness so I ran two games to test this. First was Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, and with this monitor I never felt more in control. I was popping head shots like no one’s business and managed to get 1st place way more often than normal. Second game I tested was the indie game Haste, a game where you are running and flying through the air at extremely fast speeds in beautiful colorful environments. Again, I was blown away by the responsiveness, never feeling like I wasn’t fully in control. On the hardware side of things, I love that I can power my laptop through the monitor (with 90w of power through USB-C) cutting down on one more cord. Monitors can have really clunky menu systems, but ASUS has really honed this one in. I never felt unsure how to navigate and everything I needed was just a few clicks away. The stand is solidly built and even has a slot for my phone so I can watch something below while I work or game. And while this price tag is quite high (justifiably so) they sweeten the deal even more by throwing in every cable you could ever need for this monitor, USB-C, USB-B, HDMI, Displayport. I just have two small qualms with it, first being that due to the fact that it is an OLED display, they do want you to be doing the pixel refresh process quite often, more so than on an OLED tv due to the fact that you more often have static imagery on the screen that could burn in. It has a pop-up that will show up when it thinks you should run this process, but I find it slightly obnoxious how often it pops up, especially if I’m in a gaming session. I wish it would detect what I’m doing and suggest after a game is over. Again, not a huge problem, just a minor inconvenience. Lastly, no integrated speakers, which isn’t the end of the world since I’m either using my soundbar or headset but it would be nice to have for some. These are such small quibbles on what I can only describe as a masterpiece of a monitor. It makes my second monitor look like an old square CRT. I absolutely recommend this if you have the cash for it. I’m thinking about picking up a second… Pros: Jaw-dropping HDR QD-OLED display 240hz .03ms response time G-SYNC and Freesync High enough pixel density to enjoy both work and play 90w power delivery from the display itself Excellent use of RGB lighting on front and back Easy to navigate monitor menu So many cables and accessories that come in the box Display stand has a build in slot to prop your phone up Cons: The best monitor on the market does cost a chunk of change A little too frequent pop-ups to do OLED screen refreshing No integrated speakers

I have always been a big fan of the Asus ROG line. To date I have had 3 desktop computers and this will be my second monitor I have had. To me, they are very high quality products with great attention to detail and they just work! Out of the box, I was not disappointed at all in this monitor. It has a very sleek design and cool accent lights that aren’t over the top, but definitely give the monitor a cool look. The lighting is also all customizable so you can set it up to fit your unique style. The monitor stand can go up and down as well as swivel side to side, you can also completely turn the monitor from landscape to portrait mode if you choose to do so as well. Also included in a cool cloth like carrying case is a display port cable, HDMI cable, USBC-Cable and a USB B to A cable. So you will be covered for whatever you want to plug into this thing! One other cool thing on this monitor is on the top there is a threaded mount for screwing in things like lights or cameras and things like that. Im not sure what the exact size is, but it’s the same standard size that you will find on most tripods and monopods. It also comes with a wall mounting plate if you don’t want to use the stand. When you hook it up and turn it on, I think you will be quite impressed with how bright and crisp the display looks. You can choose from 2 HDMI 2.1, a display 1.4, or a USBC display port (that can also be used for charging). There is a small button behind the logo on the monitor screen that you can use to make adjustments, but there is also software that comes along with the monitor that you can install to make adjustments much easier. I use my computer mainly for office and entertainment type things with a little gaming in there as well. For office and email type programs the text is very crisp and clear. You can easily use it all day at the office without any eye fatigue. Watching movies and things through apps like Nextflix is a pure joy. The 4K along with HDR really makes everything pop on the screen! Gaming will definitely not disappoint either. I got this monitor right about the same time the remaster of Oblivion came out, so I have spent a good deal of time playing that as well. Everything mentioned above as well as the addition of the 240Hz refresh rate make gaming amazing. Everything is so smooth and fluid with no screen tearing or jagged edges or anything like that. It definitely does give you a more immersive experience than you would get with regular monitors. If you are in the market for a new monitor to use for office type things or gaming, or both, you absolutely cannot go wrong with this one. It has everything you could ever want and more wrapped up in a sleek package! Another amazing Asus ROG product!

So far, this monitor is great. If you are looking for a monitor this size, then I recommend this monitor. I only have a couple negative things to say about this monitor and those things are not that big of an issue at all. I love how colors pop out with this monitor, especially in 4k. The response time is great, and I will take their word on it being .03ms. Gaming also looked great if you play in 4k. But this has factors that can also depend on if using a console, PC and what settings you select for game. The couple negative things I have. Again, small and not at all issues. First is that the power cord is only about 5 feet long. I would like to see it a bit longer. This does not have speakers built in. It would have been nice to have speakers, especially if you set it up like we did, and use a ROKU stick with it and you do not have anything connected to it except that. This led to my next complaint and that is that it seems to only allow for a 3.5mm cord to be used for sound. This has a couple USB-A ports, a USB-C port and a couple HDMI ports. It would have been nice to be able to use the USB ports (especially the USB-C) to run sound thru. Or would have been nice to have one of the HDMI ports as an ARC and have that run out to a soundbar or something. Or even Bluetooth. Unfortunately, all that we seemed to be able to have to use was the 3.5mm jack. Lastly is that you do have to have inputs for it. It does not have any standalone apps. These negative things for me did not change my mind on how I feel about this monitor and its performance. But things I would like to see in a monitor though. Would be nice to start seeing them consider making monitors to be like smart TVs. What I did love while gaming is that this monitor did a great job with dark colors. Same with watching videos. Overall if you are looking for a flat screen monitor (I prefer curved) and you are looking for a monitor that is 27", you want your games looking great. Then give this monitor a go, you won't regret it.

The ASUS ROG Strix 27" 4K QD-OLED monitor is an amazing piece of tech that will impress you right from the start. The resolution (4K) coupled with QD-OLED (Quantum Dot OLED) technology results in really vibrant colors and deep black colors for contrast.  The colors feel very accurate and I did not adjust any of the settings. This is perfect if you are gaming, editing videos/photos or watching movies. The display is in a word, "superb." Of course you have to test it for gaming first, as that appears to be the major group it is marketed to. With a 240Hz refresh rate and an super-fast 0.03ms gray-to-gray response time, the monitor ensures impossibly-smooth visuals with no noticeable imperfections such as ghosting. The high refresh rate is appreciated in fast-paced shooters where your response time can be the difference between winning or losing. The monitor in general feels like it was created with gamers in mind, and is geared toward performance.  Equal to the performance is the quality of the build for the ASUS ROG Strix. It kind of has a futuristic look to it, and I really appreciated the accent lighting in the back of the monitor. Those lights can be customized as well. The stand is substantial and completely customizable, with an ergonomic focus. The cables are easily tucked away giving it a very clean look. I feel it would look really cool in a dual monitor set up. The buttons on the monitor are easy to use and feel responsive, and the on screen display is easy to follow. One thing of concern with these displays that I have read about before is that "burned in" look that happens to some monitors. I think that is limited to lower quality monitors, and ASUS has included features to help eliminate that issue. This includes refresh and screen shift protocols to minimize the opportunity to have image retention. There is also something called a brightness limiter that adjusts based on what you are doing. Last but not least, it also has screen saver functions. I feel like ASUS is focusing on the life span of the monitor to prolong the life of the OLED screen.  The HDR experience with this monitor is something that you should not overlook. With peak brightness of over 1000 nits with HDR10, it is truly something you "experience." Shooter games look like they should, showing vivid colors and superior contrast. Streaming platforms also benefits significantly from this capability, making the monitor way more than just a gaming screen. HDR settings are very easy to maneuver through rounding off the amazing display with intuitive controls.   Be aware, this monitor does not have any speakers in it. Some people may see that as a deal breaker, but it is actually very common in monitors streamlined for gaming. It does of course support you in connecting your own speakers or headphones if you prefer that. And to be honest? That is what everyone (myself included) does anyway. Audio passthrough when using headphones is flawless and clean. I had zero sound issues. The monitor allows for multiple input sources, allowing you to switch between a regular work station mode to gaming workstation mode. Overall, the monitor delivers a premium audio/visual experience, even if the audio aspect relies on external components. Basically in that respect, it adapts to you as the user and supports what you want to use for audio. In the end, the ASUS ROG Strix 27" 4K QD-OLED is an exceptional choice for gamers who demand premium visuals, super fast response times, combined in high end tech. I highly recommend this monitor to any gamer that wants operate at a serious level where fractions of a second make a difference. This monitor will support you in that adventure. It is definitely worth the investment.

240Hz 4K Gaming Is Absolutely Awesome

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

About 10 or so years ago I bought some ASUS ROG 180Hz 1080p monitors, specifically I bought two so that I could run dual monitors on my dual GPUs. It was awesome, I absolutely loved them. And used them all the way up until about 2 years ago I think it was. At that time I switched to two cheap 60Hz 4K monitors that were not gaming centric but that got the job done. When I got the opportunity to get this ASUS ROG Strix 27" 4K QD-OLED 240Hz gaming monitor I absolutely was ecstatic at the possibility of getting such a great monitor to test out. I think you will be too if you take the leap of faith. So let's get into the review. Initial Setup The initial setup was super easy because I already had the dual monitor mount with the DVI cables ran. So I just unhooked & unmounted my left side old 4K non-gaming monitor and slotted the ASUS ROG Strix in its place. I fired it up & away I went. Rating: 5/5 First Impressions Having my old 4K monitor (an IPS with HDR) set to the right of this monitor made me see just how much of a difference a cheap sub $300 4K monitor is vs. a $1000 gaming monitor. Holy cow! While my other monitor isn't bad by any stretch of the imagination, but it's also not as high end as this thing. The colors on this ASUS monitor are amazing; the black is deep & dark, the colors are vibrant & rich. The way I described it to my family when showing it off is that the cheap monitor looks just washed out, while this monitor the tones just look so true to life. Just WOW! Rating: 5/5 Software & Settings The OSD settings are plentiful. I haven't found out how to activate & use every single feature yet but I did download the software companion for the monitor & it made things a little easier. For the picture mode, in the software, I selected the AI option and then couldn't get out of it. I had to reboot my PC and when it booted back up it was back to the Gaming picture mode which was fine by me because I didn't want to get myself locked into the AI setting. Maybe it wouldn't forever lock me in but I didn't want to take the chance so I left it completely alone after that reboot. Plus I'll be using my desktop almost exclusively for gaming, as I have a work laptop for work, and so I didn't see a need to switch it back out of the Gaming picture mode. Rating: 4.75/5 (only because of the weird locking me into AI thing) Gaming I am sure this is why you are here...so how did it perform in gaming? My PC specs: I9-13900K, 7900 XTX & 64 GB DDR5 with all the games set to 4K. In all of them it was absolutely flawless. So far I have played WWE 2K25, Counter-Strike 2 (CS 2), and CyperPunk 2077. In WWE 2K25 I was locked in at 60 FPS with the monitor not having any issues such as with ghosting or anything of the sort. The colors were truly just amazing. I love how wrestling games really make use of all of the color palette between the entrance lighting, character outfit colors, crowd signs, etc. So yeah, it was just absolutely flawless. I thought "well, it looked great playing a wrestling game, what about with a FPS?" I am happy to say that in CS 2 was constantly in the 200+ FPS range & it was an absolute blast to play. The monitor performed exceptionally well with the colors being just as stunning as they were in WWE 2K25. I had played CS 2 on my prior monitors but this time around I noticed details in the maps that I had never noticed before. It made me realize how much of a disservice I had done to myself when going from my ASUS 180Hz 1080p monitors to some basically word processing/office use 4K monitors. Especially when I moved the window from the new ASUS ROG Strix 4K monitor to the office-use 4K monitor and compared the photos I took with my cellphone. Just wow man. I needed to make the jump to a 4K gaming monitor much sooner! So what about CyberPunk 2077? How did it look & do? Well that is where my 7900 XTX really took a beating. It was constantly in the 30-50 FPS range, I cannot fault the monitor for that because the monitor did exceptionally well. I originally played CyberPunk 2077 on my ASUS 180Hz 1080p monitors and so I knew how pretty it was but at 4K it just looks so much more lifelike. Even if the FPS was substantially lower than the monitor is capable of it was still a super enjoyable experience. Rating: 5/5 Value This is a tricky one for me. At $1000 this is not a cheap monitor by any stretch of the imagination. So it really comes down to do you want to buy a future proof monitor that will be good for 10+ years and splurge one time, or do you want to keep doing 1080p or 2K for a few more years and then buy? I think that is really your choices. That said, I absolutely love the monitor & I'll probably get a 2nd one to replace my office/productivity 4K monitor that is on the right side of my desk-in a year or two. I still thing this monitor is absolutely amazing & I have no regrets with getting it. Rating: 5/5 Conclusion This ASUS ROG Strix 4K QD-OLED 240Hz monitor is absolutely amazing & absolutely stunning. I have zero regrets with getting it & being able to put it through its paces was a lot of fun. I have been absolutely floored with just how crisp, sharp, vivid & amazing this thing is. I know I keep saying amazing a lot but it truly is amazing. I do not think you could go wrong if you get this monitor. You'll be asking yourself why you didn't sooner once you see it & get to gaming on it. Total Rating: 24.75/25

ASUS has been a favorite brand of mine for 18+ years. I have used ASUS motherboards and I currently have several monitors throughout the house (3 on my main system, including a 24" TUF monitor) and my son's ASUS ROG gaming computer with another 24" ASUS monitor and 31.5" TUF monitor used on it. It is also the monitor brand of choice I used for my clients. While my son really likes the ASUS TUF 31.5" monitor, he was looking to get an improved monitor with at least 240Hz (up from the 165Hz, but not sure why), even if it meant going a bit smaller. The ASUS - ROG Strix 27" 4K QD-OLED 240Hz is so much more than what he was looking for and was able stay within the ASUS family. Getting it set up is quick and easy. Just assemble the two stand pieces and snap it into the back of the monitor. There is also a VESA mount it comes with that snaps into the same receptacle in the back (which we will transitioning to soon). There is not much to the bezel, but more than I would have expected, especially compared to the set of new 27" ASUS monitors just purchased for a client. The main panel is not very thick, but has the main control system attached to the back that is fairly big. And this monitor is definitely no lightweight. When attached to the stand, it weighs in around 16.5 pounds (yes, I went and weighed it to verify!). And it shows to be around 11 pounds without the stand. For inputs, there are two HDMI 2.1 ports, one DisplayPort 1.4 and a USB-C port DisplayPort, which doubles as a 90W Power Delivery port. It comes with one cable for each of the import types, all in a nice little zippered storage pouch. With the USB-C, you have the potential to connect a laptop to the monitor and also charge it as long as it supports USB-C charging. I was able to successfully try this out on one of my laptops. And while it is Power Delivery, it doesn't seem to support PD charging for smart phones. I could never get my Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra (which supports PD 45W) to detect it as Super Fast Charging 2.0 with the provided cable or another charging cable, although it did activate DEV with the included cable so I could be connected to it without one of the display adapters I normally have used. There is also a USB 3.2 hub with 3 Type-A port and a Type-B port to connect to the computer (the USB 3.2 Type-B cable is also included). And on the inputs side, there is a 3.5mm headphone jack. The control buttons are on the back, just behind the bottom center logo. There is the stick in the middle to control the menu, power button to the right and cancel button to the left. While I have not used a ROG monitor before, this setup fixes the main issue I have with the TUF monitors in a multiple-monitor setup with their button layout making it difficult to access when not the far-right monitor. Press the stick as a button to bring up the main menu. The stick itself has shortcuts to certain menu function depending on which way it is moved. They can be changed, but by default: Down brings the Input selection (which is also a big improvement over the TUF monitors); Up is the GameVisual; Right is GamePlus; and Left is volume for the earphone out. Also, the left button brings up Pixel Cleaning. One plus that the monitor setup can be controlled via the DisplayWidget app (the same as our 31.5" TUF monitor), with just able every setting in the monitor menu accessible in the app Now, this is the first 4K monitor I have ever used, or even viewed. And just like being in awe of the details the first time I viewed 4K content on our 4K TVs, playing games in 4K (or even viewing some of our pictures) took me there, too! Everything was so vibrant (especially when HDR10 was enabled) and the gameplay in 4K (running at 240Hz, then when G-Sync enabled) with all display settings set to max was great with its smoothness! Now this was connected via DisplayPort to a freshly installed GeForce RTX 5060 Ti with 16GB, but with still an older CPU, but any decent GPU should handle providing the content. First, I tried a newer action-adventure game that just came out a few weeks ago and the gameplay and transition videos were perfect. Then, on a space starfighter game (that I have had some trouble with on previous monitors and GPU), everything was so smooth, I'm a little sad going back to my setup (guess it is time to upgrade mine!). The 1.5M:1 contrast ratio and 0.03ms response time are definitely helpful. While watching everything, my son is definitely in favor of losing the 4.5" of screen for an even better performing display. This monitor seems that it should be a top 4K gaming monitor in the 27" range, even with its price point (but you've heard before, "you get what you pay for…").

Item was supposed to be open box in excellent condition. It wasn't very excellent and was missing all the cables, even the power supply. Said inspected by geek squad. Guess the geek squad member was blind.
