Great gaming laptop with some missing features.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm a big gamer and love gaming life, always on the lookout for new gears that feed my gaming obsession. I own several gaming consoles, handhelds, a gaming PC, and laptops, so when I saw the Asus ROG Strix, it immediately caught my eye. I've been a fan of Asus for their reliability and reputation in the gaming space, especially with PCs and handhelds. I've used my ROG Ally for two years now, and this ROG Strix laptop perfectly complements it. The design is striking, with unique ROG design that has Asus’s fingerprint on it. One downside, though, is the lack of USB-C PD charging. Instead, it uses a standard power adapter, which feels outdated in 2025. The power brick is bulky and eats up a lot of space in my backpack. Even when I tried using my 300W PD charger, the laptop displayed a warning message asking me to use a faster power source. Another minor drawback is that the front-facing camera doesn't support Windows Hello for facial recognition. Still, the laptop packs impressive specs that justifies that. The front RGB light strip is stunning and adds a cool environment in dark. It syncs with the keyboard RGB and is fully customizable. In terms of performance, this machine is a beast. It features an AMD Ryzen 9 HX, 16GB of RAM, a 12GB NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti, and a 1TB SSD. The inclusion of a MUX switch for the GPU is a nice touch, improving gaming performance and responsiveness. Cooling system is efficient, although the fans can get loud in performance mode. Thankfully, they do their job well, with heat being pushed out from the rear and side vents. In silent mode, like when I was streaming from Xbox Cloud, the fans were barely heard. The keyboard feels premium, with a satisfying click and solid base. Its top surface is well-designed, with the ROG word spelled out across the top, giving it a distinctive look. There are also plenty of one-click shortcuts for quick access to features. I/O ports are plenty, which is great. My other dislike is the screen brightness: while it has a 165Hz FHD panel, the brightness tops out at 300 nits, which makes it feel a bit dim even at full brightness. Overall, my experience has been excellent. The laptop delivers smooth, high-end performance, and the design is uniquely stylish and clearly made for gamers with sturdy hinges. Asus Armuory Crate is my best companion app that provides function customization, drivers update, and more.

ASUS Scores Again -- Best Gaming Laptops
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My son starts high school soon, so my family decided it was time to upgrade the family computer. Quality and “future-proofing” is very important to us with computers, as we have purchased budget laptops that within a couple of years can’t keep up with the processing power/memory requirements. It becomes a frustrating process to determine how (and even if) I can upgrade the RAM to keep pace. So when it came to finding a computer, we decided that it made the most sense to get a laptop for portability, and we wanted something that contained a lot of power to satisfy gaming habits while also functioning as a hub for family activities. We got an ASUS TUF A16 for my son a couple of years ago, and we confirmed that it is better to get a high quality laptop that does not need to be replaced as often. We decided on the new ASUS ROG Strix G16 and it is outstanding! It has a 16" FHD 165Hz screen (it looks absolutely stunning), 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD all decked out with an Eclipse Gray color that just looks cool. But that’s just the opening act… The AMD Ryzen 9 HX paired with that RTX 5070 Ti is just ridiculous—every game has been run on the Best/Ultra settings. We have been playing a lot of Apex Legends and Marvel Rivals with epic and ultra style settings, which makes these games even cooler. There are several settings that we weren’t even aware of all of the different graphics that were available (even though we were playing on very high settings previously) – the games are just more fun when you can play them with all effects. So then we decided to see how good this machine really is – we opened numerous tabs and started running multiple streaming videos without a hiccup. We’re really excited to see what games will be coming in the future, as we should be set with this ASUS Strix G16 for a while. The fans aren’t too loud and keep everything cool (no noticeable overheating that has impacting play), but just make sure you bring the power brick (which is on the bigger side). While it’s a very good machine with good battery life, if you want to get the most out of it, you won’t want to use it in battery mode. While this machine is awesome, there is a bonus item that I wanted to mention, as we were not expecting it. While unboxing the first time, it was clear there was pride in the Strix G16 and the box was high quality cardboard – so when we quickly turned it on and saw that there was PULSATING LIGHTING at start up that made the entire unboxing experience perfect. It continues to add a cool factor that reminds me of the neon “underglow” on some cars. We’ve customized it so it pulses while gaming. Not necessarily functional, but a premium cool factor for the kids when their friends come over.

Full Feature Gaming Laptop with an OK Screen
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The ASUS ROG Strix G16 G614PR is a highly capable laptop with some amazing performance packed into a usable, everyday format. The laptop has a 16” 1920x1200 IPS display running at 165hz powered by and AMD Ryzen 9 8940HX processor with Radeon 610M graphics APU for everyday tasks and a Nvidia GeForce RTX5070ti powering all your gaming needs. The laptop comes with a Gen 4 NVMe SSD with a slot for a second, and 16GB of DDR5 5600Mhz (running at 5200 as that is what the CPU can handle) in two 8GB sticks with the possibility of being upgraded to 64GB. The laptop is a beautiful Eclipse Gray with the ASUS eye emblazon on the lid and ROG running thru the keyboard space. Not one to leave any surface bare of eye candy, ASUS even did a great contrasting matte / shiny logo design on the bottom of the laptop. There is RGB running thru the keyboard and an RGB strip running across the front edge and corners to give the laptop some pop. It can be customized to many different looks and colors to suite your mood. The build quality is top notch. No chassis flex, satisfying keystrokes, no high-pitched annoying whine from the fans at full speed. Just a nice laptop to touch and listen to as well as look at. The screen as said before is 1920 x 1200, which gives you another 120 pixels in vertical height over a standard 1080p display. It is IPS with 100% in the sRGB color space with a 3ms response time and Nvidia G Sync / AMD FreeSync compatibility to help prevent screen tearing in your games when set up properly. To enable G Sync properly, go into the Nvidia App > Graphics > Global Settings and go to Low Latency Mode – Ultra, and Vertical Sync – On. These will cap your frame rate below your screens max refresh rate to prevent Vsync from kicking in hard, while also reducing your input lag as much as possible. With this enabled, I did not encounter and screen tearing in any game, from the chopper blades in BF2042, to fast building in Fortnite, or anywhere in between. If you are a set it and forget it kind of person, this laptop is more than powerful enough to run AAA single player games like Cyber Punk 2077 with ray tracing and high graphics settings on and still got 71FPS average which is quite impressive in that game. Now if you turn on Nvidia Frame Generation, I got a constant 157FPS! Frame Gen is still improving but it looked very good with little in the way of artifacting or ghosting that I could see. Frame Gen still adds some input lag so I recommend keeping it off in competitive games like CoD and Marvel Rivals, but it's absolutely worth using in single player or relaxed multiplayer games. As this is an ASUS laptop, you get some really cool ASUS tech. I’m very impressed with its cooling. It has a raised chassis that allows air to be sucked into its 3 fans better than any other gaming laptop I have used. It also has vents around the WASD keys to help suck air around them to keep them cool while gaming. And yes, I said 3 FANS. The two main fans share heat pipes between the GPU and CPU, VRAM, and VRMs, while the 3rd fan is dedicated to cooling the GPU on another heat pipe. The system has 7 heat pipes in total and 374 fins arranged around the back and side of the laptop, I didn’t see it break 80* in any game I played, no matter how long I played. I’m sure its possible, but that still leaves you with plenty of thermal headroom if you need it. It also can run completely silent when you’re studying or other general Adulting tasks. ASUS includes WiFi 6E to make sure you get as much speed as possible WiFi, but really wins by including a proper 1Gig RJ45 Ethernet port so you can make sure you have the best connection available if you are near a cable. You also get a 3.5 audio jack, 2 Type C USB 4 ports, and 2 Type A USB3.2 Gen 2 ports, but it could really use another on of those since may devices still use Type A. If you need more than 2 ports, you’ll have to get a dongle. You also get a real HDMI 2.1 that will support up to 4k 120hz on a TV that also has a HDMI 2.1 port. You also get respectable battery life, which isn’t always a thing in a gaming laptop. It has a 90wH battery, which is sized for airplane travel. With NVIDIA’s Optimus technology, the laptop is able to switch from the dGPU to the iGPU and reduce the screen refresh rate from 165 to 60hz when you’re not doing anything graphically intensive to help save battery life. I was able to get 7+ hours out of the laptop while surfing the web, watching YouTube, and doing general Adulting tasks. DON’T plan on getting anything more than maybe 30 minutes on the battery while doing any heaving gaming, but then again its not designed to power the dGPU on the battery alone. It can also take a 100W USB charger as well At this price, the main drawback of the laptop is the monitor: it’s not 1440p / 1600p and its not very bright; only 300 nits. While this is plenty inside in a semi dark room with artificial light, this is not enough to be usable outside or in buildings with big windows letting in a lot of natural light, unless all you are doing is typing in MS Word. I would appreciate a more usable minimum 400 nits in these situations. The fact that this laptop costs $2,000 at the time of this review and has a 1200p screen instead of 1440p or 1600p like plenty of its competition comes with. It also does not have a web cam that is compatible with Windows Hello, nor does it have a fingerprint reader, another thing on plenty of its competition at this price point. In the end, this laptop is typical ASUS quality with an overbuilt design and great performance, with a lackluster screen to bring it back down to Earth. If outright game detail is more your cup of tea, look to the competition for what you need. If you can live with a 1200p screen with premium internals that are cooled superbly, with plenty of creature comforts and great performance, this is your laptop.

Complete letdown. DO NOT BUY
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this gaming laptop before leaving to go get my masters in europe in august. Just tried turning it on now and it is stuck on the logo screen and the fans blast at 100% then it shuts itself off. Was just playing halo ODST last night with 0 issues now this. Total waste of money. Don’t buy this laptop. It lasted me 3 months before it died on me. If you do buy this piece of garbage, for the love of God make sure you have the warranty. I would’ve been out nearly $1600 if I didn’t have that warranty after it dying 3 months after purchase.

A great, fast laptop with premium touches
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Simply put, the 2025 ASUS ROG Strix G16 is pretty awesome. It offers blazing fast performance from both the CPU and GPU, an ample amount of RAM and storage, and plenty of customization options when it comes to lighting. The materials and build quality are all really great, even compared to previous ROG laptops I've tested. The outer surface behind the monitor is metal, as is the deck of the laptop. The hinges are also metal, and feel much stronger than past ROG laptops. The bottom cover is molded plastic with lots of cool design touches, and only 10 small Philips-head screws stand in the way of upgrades. There is essentially NO flex in the deck, and there is ample space to rest your palms and wrists. The trackpad is smooth and feels great to use, with a nice premium clickiness. The keyboard offers a good deal of travel and is very comfortable to type on (I'm writing this review on it now). The only thing I don't like about the keyboard is the transparent QWER and ASDF keys, which are a bit distracting and hard to see with most kinds of backlight. I also miss a 10-key and dedicated Home, End, PgUp, PgDn buttons, but in this form factor, it would make the keyboard really cramped, so I get why they left it out. The screen is set to 1900 x 1200 resolution, at 165 Hz, and gets quite bright. I find it very good for games, and I am actually surprised how amazing it looks for video. The 165 Hz is quite smooth, but the best gaming experience comes when the computer is in Performance or Turbo mode. This can make the fans quite loud, but not louder than other high-end gaming laptops on the market. That said, I have noticed that Silent mode is not Silent when the game demands some graphical performance. The sound is good, but it's a laptop, so don't expect to hear much under 150 Hz. The speakers are located on the bottom of the laptop at the front sides, which makes them quite audible. They're tiny little guys, so a bit tinny and maybe a little barky in the upper midrange. Totally acceptable for watching TV shows, Zoom calls, and more. The camera is... a camera. Fine for video calls and not much else. It is not able to do Windows Hello, but I honestly don't much like that anyway, so no problem for me. Of course, one of the joys/pains of ASUS ROG laptops is the Armoury Crate software, which allows you to customize so much about the experience of using the computer that it can be a bit daunting and difficult to find all the settings and options buried in various screens. One thing I really like is that ASUS has come up with some very usable lighting presets that make it easy to find something great without too much fiddling. Speaking of lighting, the light bar around the front of the laptop base is my absolute favorite cosmetic feature of this laptop. It gives a "ground effects" feeling like a super customized car, and I really love the way it looks. The overall design of the ROG Strix G16 is really understated with the lighting effects off from a few feet away, meaning you could get by using this laptop for work, and then fire up the light show after hours when it's time to game. All in all, I am extremely pleased with this laptop, and I think anyone who wants to play AAA games will be as well. The ROG Strix G16 is a premium product with a great feel, and really performs well. Other than my tiny gripes about the transparent keys and lack of a 10-key, I have nothing bad to say. Highly recommended.

Should you buy this? Yes.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Asus Rog Strix is an incredible laptop that won't break the bank. Here are some of the highlights below: Performance: It's fast, it's powerful, and its full potential is held back by a measly 16 GBs of RAM. But have no fear! This baby can support up to 96 GBs, turning your fast speed into ludicrous speed. The RAM is extremely easy to install as well. I replaced mine with 2 CORSAIR - VENGEANCE 32GB (1x32GB) DDR5 4800MHz C40 SODIMM. It works great with games, photoshop, and lightroom. A perfect blend of creator and gamer! Display: Mixed feelings on this. It's not terrible, but if you're coming from a laptop with a 4K display or macbook, you may be a little disappointed. I bet Asus planned we would offset the lower cost by buying a better monitor. Overall, does well for the job. Cooling System: It stays fairly cool even with demanding games at max settings. Fans can be a bit loud so have those headphones ready. Recommend a cooling pad, but it does a lot better on its own than other gaming laptops I've used. Battery Life: Gaming: 3-4 hours Browsing: I'd say 6-7 hours, maybe a bit more. It's a gaming laptop. Moving on. Build and Design: Pretty solid. Boasts a combination of metal and plastic for pure gaming goodness. Mild flex in the body if you press hard but overall should handle the rigors of everyday life. Keyboard is fancy with fancy light display. Light bar in front. Quite demure. Connectivity: 2x USB Type-C 2x USB Type-A port HDMI 2.1 Ethernet port 3.5 audio jack No SD card slot. Sad. Setting up: UPDATE EVERYTHING FIRST. Literally. You'll need to use Windows update, MyAsus, Armoury Crate (sorry but it's a lot better now allegedly), and the Nvidia app. I had everything running in about 45 minutes. When I installed the new RAM, I had a couple instances where the computer would start up, flash the "For those who Dare" or something like that, and then display a black screen. I simply turned off the laptop and turned it back on with no issues. Haven't had any problems since then after the all the updates. Overall, a solid set up without a "I'm going to live on ramen noodles for a year" price tag. It's fast, powerful, and you won't regret buying it. Asus offers a decent three-year warranty with accidental damage for $250 or use Best Buy's warranty if you want to stay local.

This one is for the gamers.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the laptop for gaming. The 16" inch screen is the perfect size to game or watch a movie. The laptop handles the graphics without hesitation. The cooling system is whisper quiet. One of the features is the customizable backlight keyboard and trim lights. Setup can be from a solid color to all colors. It can also be modified in different modes to the users preference. The performance of the laptop itself is outstanding with the Nvidia GPU and 32GB of DDR5 Memory. It has a power saver mode when using just the battery power. I personally noticed that the battery drained faster using the keyboard backlight features when playing games. The laptop is super fast when loading applications and games. No lag was noticed while playing games online. The sound is superb, its loud enough to listen comfortably but lacks a little in bass. But its expected. The laptop supports Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos and runs on Windows 11. Overall I highly recommend this laptop to anyone in the market for a gaming laptop. This one is it.

Decent Gaming Laptop -But
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.ASUS - ROG Strix G16 16" FHD 165Hz Gaming Laptop - AMD Ryzen 9 HX - 16GB RAM - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti - 1TB SSD The ASUS-ROG Strix G16 's chassis is entirely made of plastic, but the overall build quality is excellent, and its dark gray surfaces aren't as susceptible to fingerprints. The Strix G16 features a new LED light bar on the bottom and illuminated logo and keyboard, so if you like lights, you have a set of colorful lighting with gaming key hotspots, or for users who prefer to be more subtle, you can entirely deactivate them. Performance is good for this laptop, as one would expect from the specifications. The AMD Ryzen 9, combined with the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti on board video chipset, 16GB of RAM that can be upgraded to 64GB, and a fast M2 Gen 4 SSD, is impressive. The added feature of a MUX switch, or multiplexer switch, which is a hardware component that this gaming laptop uses that allows the computer to switch between using its integrated graphics processor (iGPU) and dedicated graphics processor (dGPU), can give you a competitive advantage. According to the manufacturer, “Advanced Optimus takes it further by seamlessly switching between the iGPU and dGPU based on the task, maximizing both performance and battery life,” and it does do its job. The cooling is quite good, even without a laptop cooling pad, and the rear and side exhaust do a really good job of directing the heat away from the laptop, resulting in the keyboard not getting hot like some competitors' laptops. Asus states, “Equipped with an end-to-end vapor chamber, Tri-Fan technology, and Conductonaut Extreme liquid metal, this cutting-edge thermal design ensures your system stays cool and quiet,” which is true. It only gets noisy in extreme circumstances, but it doesn't sound like a jet engine, which the older model gaming laptops accomplish, so this is a significant improvement. The sound is decent for a laptop system, with the Dolby Atmos and built-in array microphone being pluses. But like most gamers, I use a headset with a microphone. I only need the built-in sound part-time. I was surprised that the Ethernet port is only a 1Gig port, as this is a gaming laptop for 2025, and I would have thought that it would have been a 2Gig or 5Gig port. The WiFi 6E (6.5) gives you a faster connection when hooking up to the appropriate network. Also, I was expecting WiFi 7 and felt the WiFi 6E was disappointing. Though this is upgradable (memory and SSD), you would have to remove the back of the machine, for unlike some of the other models in this lineup, it doesn’t have the Maintenance Hatch. I would also like to have some biometric security. A scanner and a Windows Hello Camera would be a big plus since I don’t want to travel with several laptops and would feel more comfortable with these features for added security when doing work tasks. Cons • Only a 1Gig Ethernet port • No Display Port • No WiFi 7 • No upgrade trapdoor (Maintenance Hatch) • No biometric security, no fingerprint sensor, and the Camera does not support Windows Hello • No physical camera shutter • No touchscreen • Gen 4, not Gen 5 SSD Pro • AMD 2.5GHz Ryzen 9 8940HX with 16cores and 32 threads • 1900 x 1200 (WUXGA) 16inch monitor • GeForce RTX 5070 Ti with an MUX switch • WiFi 6.5 (6E) • Keyboard with game area lighting and a good feel • Responsive touchpad • 1TB Gen4 SSD • 16GB DDR5-5600 SO-DIMM capable of 64GB • 1080P FHD camera • Built-in array microphone • 2-speaker Dolby Atmos system with Smart Amplifier Technology • Battery 90WHrs, 4S1P, 4-cell Li-ion • Decent portable gaming platform at a reasonable price The ASUS-ROG Strix G16 isn’t perfect, but it is a decent machine for the price. I have long used their motherboards and laptops and found them reliable. I tested this with standard productivity software and several games and found the machine suitable for my travel needs or when spending a game night away with my friends. Having a built-in HDMI port to hook up to an external monitor or TV was nice since I am spoiled at home with large HiRez monitors.

Nice travel gaming laptop
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. At 16” this Asus laptop strikes a nice balance berween being able to game and still be a viable option for traveling. Day one was running Windows and Asus updates, installing and updating Norton 360 and then Battlenet and Call of Duty the last which took a couple hours. Once everything was installed and configured I was pretty a happy with the overall performance. From power off to the Windows login screen to just under 17 seconds, The FHD display does a nice job displaying work in Word and Excel and the graphics in COD using the Extreme setting were very nice for FHD. COD framerates depended on what mode I was in using the F5 key, Silent ran right at 60FPS, switching to Performance boosted the FPS to just under 200 and in Turbo I was getting 230-250FPS. GPU temp on the Turbo setting was pretty consistent at 76C. The sound from the speakers is pretty good, but using my headphones with the 5.1 setting in COD was a definite improvement. I think the 16” Asus ROG Strix is a nice alternative to a full tower gaming system.. it’s small enough and light enough to travel with, unlike many of the 18” laptops and definitely has more backpack options available to protect it while traveling. You could hook this up to a better monitor and I think it would be a decent desktop replacement option.

Beautiful Machine
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Was debating between OLED and IPS non QHD. OLED looks amazing for sure but on a laptop screen it seems like a bit much. OLED starts to heat up the laptop very hot and then the fans are blasting on max which gets loud. This IPS screen is good on resources, the laptop stays cool well, doesn't sound like an airplane taking off and everything looks really good. I've been playing FF16 on it and it looks, sounds, and runs great. This laptop is a beauty and the keyboard is high quality. Ram I upgraded easily to 64gb. It's not super light but not very heavy either. Portable if you're traveling.

It makes me wonder if I should use it to replace my desktop computer. Yes, it is that good! I always enjoy unboxing and setting up an ASUS gaming laptop. This one did not disappoint. The computer is nicely packed and comes in a box with secret compartments. When the front is pulled open, the laptop is pushed up, revealing a drawer with the accessories and documentation. The brushed gray lid has a ROG logo and "FOR THOSE WHO DARE" in a subtle strip across the top. The computer is very well ventilated, with vents along the length of the back, along the sides, across the bottom, and with raised rubber feet for more ventilation. The entire computer is solid and is built with quality in mind. I like that all the connection ports are along the sides instead of the back. The front of the lid has an extended lip for raising the lid and housing the camera/mics. There are rubber pads on the monitor edges to prevent keyboard engagement with the monitor. The track pad is large, and the keys are spacious. They have a smooth texture and a deeper throw than I expected. Upon pressing the power button, this beast came alive. The keyboard's backlighting rotated and pulsed through various colors in a rainbow effect. The gaming keys and the spacebar are translucent, and a color strip below the beveled front lip pulsates in multiple colors. The Windows 11 setup and configuration took barely over 30 minutes. I uninstalled some unnecessary apps, installed my games and benchmark programs, and configured the included Armoury Crate application. I set my desired color schemes and set the default performance to Turbo mode. An ASUS utility notified me that an update was pending. I rebooted and waited for a 20-minute BIOS upgrade. The benchmark programs showed there wasn't much difference between balanced performance and Ultimate GPU mode. However, when I switched to Turbo mode, this is where the stats and the gaming shone. I set Flight Simulator and No Man's Sky to ultra graphics. With Flight Simulator, the graphics are smooth and detailed. Textures of the ground, trees, traffic, and water are highly detailed. Clouds are soft and blended instead of chunky and solid. I noticed a very slight tearing on water textures at a distance. Fan noise is significant with the intense graphics settings, but I'm usually on headphones and not bothered by it. No Man's Sky with ultra graphics settings is also very smooth, and the textures are highly detailed. Fan noise is much lower and is tolerable without headphones. I unplugged the power just for grins and lasted for an hour with No Man's Sky. I'm not surprised, but I expect Overall, I am quite surprised at this laptop's gaming performance, and it is a serious contender for replacing a desktop. With the HDMI and two USB-C ports, I expect a multiple monitor configuration would be easy. I highly recommend the ASUS ROG Strix G16 Gaming Laptop for anyone looking for a high-performing, high-quality computer. The combination of the AMD Ryzen 9 HX and the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti chews through every game I throw at it. I'm able to run demanding AAA titles like Red Dead Redemption 2 on high settings with a fantastic framerate, and it handles competitive games like DOTA 2 and FOR HONOR flawlessly, utilizing the smooth 165Hz display perfectly. The cooling system is robust, keeping the laptop performing well even during long gaming sessions. The 1TB SSD is lightning-fast, and the overall performance is outstanding. Powerhouse
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Strix G16 is a powerhouse. It has the AMD Ryzen 9 8940HX, 16GB DDR5 5600 RAM, NVIDIA RTX 5070 Ti, and a fast 1TB Gen4 SSD with an extra slot for Gen5 expansion. Weighing in at about 5.5 lbs, it’s on the heavier side, making it less ideal for frequent travel, but this weight comes with good build quality and some serious gaming hardware. It has played everything with no ive thrown at it on ultra settings. Display and Visuals The 16-inch IPS screen offers a smooth 165Hz refresh rate and a 1920 x 1200 resolution, which, while not the sharpest for this size, still delivers crisp visuals and vibrant colors thanks to 100% sRGB coverage. The IPS screen technology ensures wide viewing angles and accurate color reproduction. However, IPS panels generally have lower contrast ratios, so blacks can appear gray in dim settings. The screen brightness peaks at around 300 nits, which is adequate but can be underwhelming in bright environments. This is a notable downside for those who game in well-lit spaces. Performance and Upgradability With the latest Ryzen 9 CPU and RTX 5070 Ti GPU, this laptop delivers top-tier gaming performance and smooth multitasking. The stock 16GB RAM is sufficient for most tasks but may be limiting for heavy multitasking or future-proofing; fortunately, the RAM is user-upgradable. Storage is fast and generous, and the available second SSD slot (supporting Gen5 SSDs) offers excellent upgrade potential, even though the included drive is Gen4. Battery and Cooling Battery life is short during gaming sessions, which is typical for high-performance laptops, but ASUS includes a feature to cap the maximum charge at 80% to help prolong battery health. The cooling system is effective but the fans can get quite loud when playing. Verdict: This is a high-performance gaming laptop with strong upgradability, and lots of features. While its screen brightness and resolution could be better, and it’s a bit heavy with loud fans under load, its strong GPU and CPU, and expandability, make it a strong recommendation from me.

Outstanding Gaming Performance and Design
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently purchased the ASUS ROG Strix G16 16” FHD 165Hz Gaming Laptop and it has exceeded my expectations in every way. The performance is incredibly powerful thanks to the AMD Ryzen 9 HX Processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti graphics card. Games look amazing and the fast refresh rate makes a big difference in performance. The Eclipse Gray design also looks very sleek and premium. With 16GB RAM and a 1TB SSD, the laptop is fast, responsive, and has plenty of storage for games and files. The cooling system works very well, keeping the laptop stable even during long gaming sessions. Great gaming laptop
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop is excellent, and i have no negative notes. The price point for the performance is excellent, and i jave not been let down by an asus gaming laptop yet. Once you have it, the laptop is surprisingly thick, but it does help keep it from getting excessively hot in your lap or in place. I play nearly every game at maximum graphics. I would reccomend eventually upgrading ram as the onpy minor note. The 5070 is incredibly impressive in this machine.

Good but Maybe not $2000 good
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The ASUS ROG Strix G16 is a pretty good gaming laptop that works pretty well. The performance of the Ryzen 9 CPU and the RTX 5070 Ti is AMAZING for gaming and multitasking. :) The build quality is also quite solid for a laptop. BUT!! I have had some problems with the laptop's stability. It crashes a lot when changing display modes and something due with the battery, when I plug it in it sometimes hates that so it crashes, i actually had my first one replaced, but it still does it here and there, so it might been a hardware issue sadly. These issues do not occur all the time but quite often enough to be annoyed about it, more so for a $2000 laptop. :( It is a good laptop, I don't think it's easy to break but the crashing and bug issues hold back the laptop, but i still would recommend Asus. their software on the other hand? maybe not, and maybe just upgrade the ram and such later down the line. of course, when the prices are not insane.

Great gaming machine
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm loving this laptop so far. Gaming performance is fantastic with this machine. The build quality is solid and it was very easy to upgrade the ram and storage. The fans are a bit loud but the temps stay relatively cool even on max settings. Its easy to change the fan profiles and make it quieter if you need. There was no bloatware at all with with the installed Windows 11 which is a dream come true. I bought this to replace my full size desktop built 4 years ago and it absolutely runs circles around it. I got this on sale at $1599 and it was an incredible value for the performance. Even at full price it seems worth it.
