The keyboard overheats when you are playing your game on line. The previous Asus was made a lot better and never over heated.

The old Asus was better. The newer model gets really warm on the keyboard because of the internal red light.

The design is fine, but the processor is so slow. If you want a fast computer I suggest build one. This is way over priced for what you get. I thought it would be faster on start up and faster at launch programs, but it barely can handle the video editing that I bought it for. DON'T BUY IT! Not worth the price. It acts like a 400 dollar computer. Why is it so SLOW? No there are no viruses... this is my view on it when it is just launched.

Got this on sale. In less than a month the GPU died and was unfixable without spending hundreds more to replace the mother board. Got a refund and had to buy another computer not on sale.

I don't even know why I bothered with this Laptop. Apple products are far superior. Might as well throw this in the garbage where it belongs.

I had doubts about this computer. I'm not easy to please by any means. I went through 3 computers trying to decide which one would best suit my needs. First was an HP Omen (which was a mistake and I should have known it). Second was an Alienware 17 R4, which is a great great computer, but if you're like me and need some kind of mobility when using your laptop the almost 10 lb machine is just way too big. This left me a little discouraged. I knew I needed a GTX1070 at least in order to run the programs I use across 4 displays (including the laptop). I also knew that I would need some storage. Finally, it needed to have an i7 7700 (because it really does make a difference) and needed to be somewhat light and mobile. Back before I had even chosen my HP Omen, one of the specialists had mentioned that the Asus ROG would be a great fit. It was more expensive yes, but it would accommodate all my needs. Boy should I have listened. I was caught up on getting the baddest looking rig instead of getting the PC that would be the best possible fit for me. Highlights of this laptop: - Light and portable (for a 17 inch gaming laptop) - Great sound and display (don't let the 75 hertz get you thinking otherwise) - Fast (This thing is fast. Even though it doesn't come with a built in SSD, the HDD doesn't take long at all to start up. Also you can install an SSD in the slot provided by Asus should you choose.) - Keyboard (This keyboard is awesome. I absolutely love the way it feels. It's not mechanical, but it's not like other chicklet style keyboards either. It's just a great feel honestly.) There are other great things about this PC that I could list... and honestly... at this point I can't think of any negatives. Even not having an SSD means that I can choose one of the size that I want when the time comes. I highly recommend you just buy this thing and not make the same mistake I did of doubting.

I have been gaming on this laptop for three days now. on battlefield 1 it easily reaches 98 Celsius after 15 minutes of gameplay. for long-term durability I will not recommend this product. if you were planning to buy extended warranty anyway, you might be OK, but I don't think this is a machine I would like to have out of warranty. maybe an obvious thing to say, but I don't understand why there are no vents exactly beneath the fans on the bottom panel. the position, size and amount of vents in the bottom panel (where cold air would come in) are ridicously small for a machine with this heat dissipation needs. BestBuy model as only a spinning disk, you would likely want/need to upgrade to SSD or M2 SSD. on the positive, the screen is really nice, keyboard is decent and portability for a 17 inches computer is great.

Took advantage of the "open-box: Excellent" deal and got this computer for $1200. This thing can handle any title on maximum settings. Getting a i7 7th gen, and a GTX 1070 at this price is amazing. You can (and should) undervolt the cpu (really easy, youtube how) and you won't have any of the heat problems people are talking about. Amazing laptop, amazing price.

This laptop is priced great for the specs it brings. It is currently on sale for -$200! -You get the new I7 , a powerful graphics card, new DDR4 ram, IPS display, Thunderbolt 3 and a AC Wifi adapter to name a few. -As for the GTX 1070, it eats everything i've thrown at it . My FPS does not drop below 70 in even the most demanding games. Keep in mind that this bestbuy model comes with the 75hz refresh rate display so I overclocked the display to 100hz which was so easy to do. -I also replaced the 2.5 HDD to a SSD, try to upgrade it if you can, it is the only downside to this laptop. -Ram is plenty , there is only 2 slots so it can be expensive to upgrade but most AAA games I have tried do not go past 9 gigs of usage. - If you hook this up to a 4k monitor you can benefit from the new i7

    $1450 of components in a $50 shell

Spec-wise, this is a solid gaming laptop. It is also one of the cheapest, thinnest, and lightest 17" laptops available with a 1070 and G-Sync display. Unfortunately, there are major issues with heat, build quality, and quality control. Problems: 1. Heat: This laptop gets so hot during gaming that the processor and graphics card throttle and limit performance. The heating solution implemented by ASUS is simply inadequate. I would be concerned about longevity in addition to not getting the most out of your investment. 2. Build Quality: There is a reason this laptop is so light: cheap plastic everywhere. The frame bends when you pick it up. The keyboard visibly flexes when you type. It feels like a bottom barrel machine they stuffed with an i7 and a 1070. 3. Quality Control: The build quality is forgivable considering the relatively cheap price tag. Quality control is not. I had numerous issues with my laptop that could have been identified with a 30 second glance. There was a dead pixel in the middle of the screen. The space bar kept catching on the lower end of the frame, making typing almost impossible. The battery was also faulty. It drained almost 70% after browsing the web at half brightness for an hour. You expect poor battery life with a gaming laptop, but not to this degree. Redeeming Qualities: It is cheap, thin, and light. It also has a bright screen. Final Verdict: Save up a little longer for something nicer and save yourself a headache. I returned this after 2 weeks and bought an Alienware 15r3 for a couple hundred more. Typing this review on it and couldn't be happier.

This is a good buy if you're looking for raw fps for the buck. Here are the corners that are cut vs the $2000 versions on other sites: 75Hz Display (most are 120Hz) HDD only (most include a SSD) 12GB Ram isn't in Dual Channel (most have match ram @ 16GB)

I've had this computer for a couple months. It has constant crashes and goes to a blue restart screen. Google chrome constantly goes down and you have to refresh the page. You can play good games but I would not recommend that you use it for school work. If you are in the middle of writing an essay and it crashes your work will not be saved.

It's a pretty good computer, except that one of the fans doesn't really do what its supposed to do and makes a loud strange noise, it kinda sounds like the fan is hitting something. It also heats up pretty fast, so you might need one of those fan things to put it on. It's also a little slow starting up.

    BEWARE: CHOOSE ANOTHER BRAND

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

READ LOTS OF REVIEWS AND CONSIDER THEM CAREFULLY. CHECK CONSUMER REPORTS FOR THEIR RATINGS AND EVALUATION OF THE BRAND. My laptop was a lemon from the start, never functioned correctly, mother board had to be replaced (under warranty) after it completely died, but did not fix the other issues. ASUS refused to help at all, even right after the warranty period, despite the fact that the issues were continued from before the warranty expired. CHOOSE ANOTHER COMPANY. I will NEVER own another ASUS.
