Great laptop. Super powerful in a small form factor. I'm getting Time Spy of above 15000. Great screen. Great speakers. Great keyboard. Great trackpad. Love the 16:10 aspect ratio. I've upgraded to 32GB - no problem! I've had no build quality problems - I've heard others have.
Only disappointment is battery life. Some people claim G14s get mammoth battery life. That's not my experience with this laptop.

I tested quite a few new laptops before deciding on the Asus Zephyrus G14. It has all of the power you would need for AAA gaming, editing, 3d modeling, video editing. Plus the style of the laptop is truly one of a kind! Having the ability to upgrade the RAM up to 48GB as well as replace the internal M.2 SSD leaves room for longevity. This will be my daily driver for at least the next 5 years or longer.

For this review, I got the 4080 model. It is quite a performant laptop and is very portable. I bought this as a desktop replacement for college and it is doing well so far. If you want to get the best out of this machine, you need to go through a few hoops. I first wanted to upgrade the internal drive and the ram. Apparently this model is very picky with what type of ram you can use, so for highest compatibility, I would reccommend any 4800 mhz cl40 sodimm ddr5 ram. When installing a new ssd boot drive and reinstalling windows and reinstalling all the OEM drivers, I noticed that the armory crate didnt recognize auto refresh rate or energy panel saver, and the gpu power profiles wouldnt switch from standard. After troubleshooting all day and reinstalling every driver, I decided it was not a driver issue, but armory crate being a buggy mess. To circumvent this issue, I installed an armory crate alternative known as G-helper, which has some stability issues, but isnt nearly as bad as armory crate. Ghelper solved all my issues with armory crate. The thermals in this machine get quite hot, in gaming workloads, even with reduced power limits of 90 watt gpu and 65 watt cpu, it regularly reaches 85 degrees celcius, I heard a good undervolt would help with these temperatures. Idle and low usage temps are good, typically around 47-55 degrees celcius on silent mode. This laptop has all the fancy auto power settings you may want to maximize battery life when off the charger and maximize performance on AC. It's battery life for me has been around 7-8 hours with the right power settings which almost made me forget this is a gaming laptop. I only remember that once it boots up any intensive ganmes, then its fans kick up and it gets really hot. In conclusion, this is a great portable powerhouse if you have the money, and I believe this is the best performance per dollar, as the 4090 model only peforms around 8% better on average in games for 800$ more and the 4070 model performing around 50% worse overall for only 650$ less.

Let's keep this short and to the point. The Zephyrus line of laptops has a legacy dating back a few years. I had a 2021 G15 w/ a 3080 that I loved to death. It ran great, but I wanted to upgrade. A 14" variant was the perfect size and I had heard great things about the G14 variants. So, I purchased this exact one in confidence. Unfortunately, it fell just short of expecations.
The good:
- It's a sleek package, looks and feels great.
- High end hardware, itty bitty living space.
- Keyboard is phenomenal
- Screen looks and performs fantastic, some IPS glow, but that's to be expected.
- A LOT quieter than anticipated.
The bad:
- The bloat on it is too much, ASUS.
- Why can't I log in to safe mode? My pin always "has a problem" even after resetting multiple times, and I can't get out of it without resetting or using some command prompt trickery.
- Performance does not seem to be up to snuff, though that could have been my model. Average FPS on Apex legends was around 80 maxed out. Which is concerning when my G15 from 2021 got up to 120 on average.
- Likely Windows related, but forcing BitLocker on me is not a good thing. Having to hunt down my key every time I want to boot in safe mode is not fun.
Needless to say, this was a letdown. I got to play some games, and it worked well enough until I decided I didn't like the software preinstalled. Tried to clean install GPU drivers, but I could not run DDU in safe mode as it literally locked me out EVERY SINGLE TIME I tried. No amount of resets, troubleshooting, and command prompt magic fixed this issue. What would happen is my PIN would no longer be valid, but I could not set it up for some unknown reason. Very concerning. Also, G Helper is leagues above anything ASUS puts on here. I really wish they'd allow users to opt-in to an install just to save us all a step in removing bloatware. All in all, I'm not too impressed with software side of things and will reconsider purchasing ASUS products in the future.

This is an amazing laptop if you can only have one laptop. It's great for gaming when plugged in, and is a great thin and light if you need to get work done on-the-go. You also have the option to put in an extra stick of ram for 32GB.
The main problem I ran into was the wifi card, The mediatek wifi card is notorious for being bad, which I definitely felt while staying at a hotel. I highly recommend buying an intel wifi card.
Overall, it's a great buy if you're willing to make a few modifications

I ran all the benchmarks in turbo mode and with GPU set to "Ultimate." Everything is stock except the ram.
Cinebench 3 runs, 10 minutes in between each run to let the laptop cool down to idle temps

Third- 16,404

GPU Score: 7,670

During a Time Spy extreme Stress Test 20 minutes Temperatures 1. CPU Max: 87.4 2. CPU Avg: 79.8 3. GPU Max: 95.0 4. GPU Avg: 77.6
Microphone I was about to buy one of those inline microphone cables for my Moondrop Arias. But I think the onboard mic is actual good enough especially with he fans blaring. I imagine with nVidia Broadcast it should be better.
Some issues I ran into is that sometimes during these tests, the laptop will shut down or go into a restart loop and won't turn back on until I tap a button on the keyboard. I've updated the bios and ran windows updates, so I'm hoping this helps.

I upgraded the RAM to 32GB and have used the laptop for a few months. It has handled a mixture of heavy software development workflows including maxxing out the GPU's CUDA and tensor cores, gaming and entertainment. Having this much horsepower in such a compact footprint is outstanding. My only complaint is that it quickly gets too warm for direct use on my lap. When used on a table, the airflow is not restricted as the display when open acts as a lift to expose the air intakes.

Solid But Slightly Ugly Laptop

This is a pretty solid little laptop. Runs most games on ultra + Ray tracing ultra, at around 60 fps. The IPS display is how you'd expect it to look, not to the level of a mini LED, but good nonetheless.
The overall build feels great - solid sounding and feeling keyboard, casing feels solid though plastic. Mousepad is nice and responsive. Smooth wrist wrests, and most importantly, it doesn't get too hot where your hands are usually located when playing games.
Only downside I can see is the white color. If this was offered in a dark grey or black it would receive 5 stars from me. The white just doesn't do it for me - its not atrocious, but seems a bit childish.

Now the size really matters for me, tried using 15 inch latops and found them to be too big to carry around. 14 inch is a perfect size and ASUS is a single laptop on the market that comes with 4080/4090 and offer RAM extension. What else one might need? Played Alan Wake 2 on it on max settings with no issues at all.

As a creator (VFX/3D/Video Editing) and a gamer. this is the laptop that I've always needed. It's handled every game I've thrown at it including Cyberpunk 2077 at Ultra+ Settings with Ray Tracing enabled at 60 - 100 frames per second.
I've been much more productive while Video Editing (Adobe Premiere) and 3D rendering (Blender/Houdini). My work flow is a lot more seamless and responsive.
To top it off, this laptop is surprisingly light, and personally, I love the moonlight white color.
I've never reviewed a laptop before, but my positive experience with this machine inspired me to finally write one.

I used to use my custom built desktop for some time but when I started working on this laptop I was surprised at just how much more performant it was in comparison. The speed of this machine absolutely trounces over my desktop and then some, with drastically improved sculpt performance in Blender and a wicked fast boot speed.
Battery life is poor but to be expected from a machine with this much stuff packed in - Being on battery is more for quick file management in transit - You'll want to be plugged into a wall for more intensive tasks, and chances are that a plug is available if you're sitting down to work or game with this on hand. It's called a "Laptop" but really you'll want this on a desk because if you're doing any kind of heavy task like managing high polygon sculpt data, it gets quite toasty and your legs will block the vents located at the bottom. The Ergo Hinge is made to prop it up above the surface it's seated on to improve thermals, so nothing blocks those vents at the bottom when the lid is open.
Overall a fantastic machine, and I'd recommend this to anyone with the cash to spare, because things might get expensive at the high end, but this will last a LONG time, provided you keep it free from dust and liquids. These things aren't waterproof.

Great laptop. The 4080 in this will be good for 5 years (maybe more) for AAA games. Make sure to update everything first before installing anything. Then get rid of all the ASUS software and get G-Helper. Besides gaming, I use this for school and I can get 9-10 hours battery life having multiple tabs in chrome and have gdrive still running in the background, and productivity programs.
Honestly, I don’t think any laptop is worth $2500, but I picked this up because I happened to catch it when it was on sale. The price still a little above $2000, but I figured this one will last me a while because this one is replacing my 2022 G14.
