I'm a 40 year old that needed a PC powerful enough to play games, run intermediate level workbooks to manage finances, and a laptop powerful enough to run Photoshop. I did double the ram and the storage. I added a Samsung 990 pro SSD 1gb and 16 gb ram.
For around $1200, this PC does everything I need it to and then some. It's also small enough to move around. When I play games, I plug this into an external monitor using the USB c to display port (right side to use the Nvidia card).
It's sleek, portable, and powerful. I highly recommend. If you do buy it check out G helper. Look up kalious's Asus guide.
If you buy it, you're welcome to use my reference guide. it's a basic google sheet I put together with recommendations for upgrades, g helper guide, and more.

It’s a decent notebook that plays all the games I want while being portable. I did a fresh install of windows 11 and get rid of Armoury Crate and installed G-Helper. I also swapped the 500GB ssd for a 1TB SSD and installed a 16GB ram stick for a total of 32GB ram. Battery life is good when you disable the GPU, so class work can be worked on for hours while away from a charger. Plugged in while gaming, it does get hot, but rarely does it get into 90c with G-Helper.

This is the best laptop I have ever owned. I had owned the g14 2022 with the RX6700s but I recently had an accident with it. Best buys warranty covered the laptop and gave me the money I paid back and I was able to get this on sale. It performs like a beast and the 4070 version isnt that much better. It has a great screen and plays almost every game at max settings 60fps. Also having the ability to use dlss 3 frame generation is amazing in games such as The Finals. This laptop also has great battery life and lasts all day through school. It is a amazing balance of performance and portability. At the sales price of $1050 it is a steal and even at msrp it is still an alright deal. The ability to charge it through usbc in my car is also amazing for on long drives I can charge it and have a full battery when I get where I'm going. Overall this is an amazing laptop for most people and is my favorite device I have ever owned.

This is by far the best laptop I have ever owned. In the past I have had a 1060, 2060, 2070 super laptops of all different shapes and brands. I even tried an MSI stealth 14 before returning it and buying this as the G14 was not on sale the week I bought the MSI. The performance of this laptop in the 14 inch form factor, excellent screen, incredible battery life are all a huge plus. This laptop changed the whole way that I have used laptops in the past. It is small enough to carry around as if it was a tablet, and powerful enough to actually get 100+ FPS on my favorite games.
The only real complaint I have is shipping the laptop with 512GB of storage. In 2023 that's about 2 AAA games. If it was 1TB which only costs about $20 more it would not be such a problem. This is note worthy as you have to clone the SSD and open the laptop to replace it as there is no 2nd M.2 slot. Also make sure to put another stick of ram in to get full performance of running in DDR5 quad channel instead of dual. I noticed a large performance increase in Warzone after that.

In the 3 days Ive had this device, i havent come across any issues. No random restarts, the backlight bleed on my model is very minimum so thats a plus. The touchpad is very Reliable. Battery life is pretty on par with the 6700s. I gamed on it for about 31 hours now & no overheating issues. Watched a few show here & there. Havent done any editing as of yet. This laptop comes with a 1080p Cam, & (1) 16gb of ddr5 with an Empty Slot to add more ram. 512gb of ssd isnt eniugh sadly but everyone will upgrade the ssd i recommend a 2tb or 4tb one. Overall beautiful laptop.. oh one last thing the keyboard doesnt have that weird hue color last years model had, maybe its a minor but not as noticeable. Its a great puckup. The rtx 4060 seems to be at about the same as a 6800s or a but better. Good thermals

Bought the G14 a couple weeks ago and haven’t had a single problem since. The 14 inch laptop is more than enough for any needs you could have and it WILL deliver every single time with no hesitation.
The design is vibrant and gorgeous while still looking professional.
Great build quality with no weak spots and good materials everywhere you touch.
The components that make this machine live are probably the best combination out there for a 14 inch high performance gaming laptop. It will run anything you throw at it and will still hold up perfectly for years to come.
It should be a no brainer if you can also get it with a discount or promotion. Hopefully the review helped a little :D

I recently purchased the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 to replace a different laptop by another manufacturer that I had been using for a few years. I had used Asus products in the past without any problems (as well as friends and family), so when it came time to upgrade, I did my proverbial homework first and saw that Asus was still a top contender in the PC world. I narrowed my search based on my wants and needs: a laptop that was actually portable, good battery life, crisp/clear screen, and had discrete graphics for a variety of gaming. This computer seemed to fit the bill on paper. But like many things, the proof would become evident in its usage. So I took the plunge and bought the version with a Ryzen 9 CPU and Nvidia 4060 GPU. And I couldn't be happier. This laptop has not only met, but exceeded my expectations. First of all, it's a sleek piece of hardware. The fusion of plastic meets aluminum is impressive. And it's clearly manufactured well. Issues I've had with other (non-Asus) laptops have involved things like not properly lined-up hardware components or "screen bleed" (when the backlight of the screen has noticeably different contrast, typically around the edges of the screen). I am happy to report that this laptop has no discernable hardware imperfections. And not only is the screen uniform with respect to backlighting, but it's simply beautiful. I could go into nits (display brightness) and geek out on people, but this review is for everyone. So I am keeping it general. That being said, other things that stand out are incredible battery life for a gaming laptop. I can easily get between six and eight hours of use depending on what I am doing. But I will caution you that any serious gaming will drain the battery a lot faster (so it's recommended that you keep it plugged in for long sessions). And for reference, my previous laptop (also geared toward gamers) only got about three hours when it was first new. But I will also point out that this is a 14-inch screen, which is a factor as well. But for me this is a great size. And it weighs less than four pounds (coming from using a laptop that was almost six!). I also feel that this laptop has a good array of ports to plug things into, a marvelous trackpad, and I can speak from experience in telling you that this will play most AAA current games with ease. And when the fans kick on, they aren't too loud. I know that might not seem like a big deal, but it is in the gaming world. Using this laptop has been an awesome experience. It's fast, light for this kind of laptop, has astounding battery life, and it does what you want without issue. I simply love it. I will say this though. I do wish that my particular model shipped with a larger hard drive. I did end up swapping that out. And some gamers out there might have issue with the fact that it doesn't have built-in ethernet. But these really are small gripes at the end of the day. I simply have no regrets and going forward will have Asus at the forefront of my mind when it comes to future laptops for both me and my family.

After spending some time with the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14, I have to say it’s a beast in a small package. The 14-inch screen may not be huge, but it packs a punch with its QHD resolution and 165Hz refresh rate. The visuals are crisp and smooth, making it a great choice for both gaming and content creation. However, if you’re used to larger displays, you might find this one a bit tight for multitasking or immersive gaming.
In terms of performance, the combination of the AMD Ryzen 9 processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 delivers excellent power for gaming and heavy workloads. It handles modern games with ease, and the addition of DLSS 3 and ray tracing support adds extra polish to the gaming experience. That said, the 512GB SSD feels a bit limited, especially if you plan to install multiple large games. Upgrading the storage is possible, but it’s not something everyone is comfortable doing right out of the box.
One thing that really stands out is the build quality. The laptop feels solid and premium, with a brushed aluminum finish that looks sleek in Moonlight White. Despite its compact size, it’s packed with ports, including USB-A, USB-C, and HDMI, so you’re well-covered for peripherals.
Battery life is decent for a gaming laptop, but as expected, it drains quickly under heavy gaming loads, so you’ll want to keep it plugged in during intense sessions. The RGB backlit keyboard is a nice touch, offering customization to match your setup, though the typing experience could be better—some users might find the key travel a bit shallow.
Overall, the Zephyrus G14 offers great value in terms of performance and portability, especially if you’re looking for a gaming laptop that’s easy to carry around. Just be prepared to compromise a bit on storage and screen size

I would like to note that I haven't had a lot of time to do serious gaming on this thing yet, so I can only really give this 4/5 stars. I will bump that up or down depending on how things shake out in the next few months.
That being said - this is a good machine so far. People can say that the chassis/aesthetic of a machine isn't too important - but personally I like the design of it and how it opens and closes (the screen, when opened, props up the machine to allow for more airflow). It's very stable when opened up - and it's nice to look at! Plus if I forget to close the curtains on a hot, sunny day and it ends up sitting in the sun near a window for too long - I will worry less about overheating/damage because of the light color (my work laptop and all my old laptops were darker colored, and I have actually had that issue before).
The keyboard is nice, works well so far, though I haven't really adjusted the color combos to anything besides the default yet. The screen is a good size - portable but still big enough to enjoy games on (at least for me). I also have an HDMI cord and another monitor from my old desktop setup to use if I want that. It's pretty easy to set up a good gaming station with it that's not too clunky.
I also use this for writing and normal tasks (eventually I'll try doing digital art on it again when I have time). It does tend to get a warm sitting on your lap as opposed to sitting on a desk I've noticed - but it's not horrendous.
So far everything has been running pretty fast, and it was easy to set up. I should note that I got an "excellent condition" open box version of this item and I ended up paying for the computer itself, a cooling mat, laptop sleeve, and a 2-year protection plan for the same amount as I would've spent on a new machine itself. For that price it was a good deal. As for paying full price for a new machine - that's up to the person making the purchase. I would've found that too pricey.

This Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 gaming laptop packs a massive punch in such a portable form factor. I have put this gaming laptop through it's paces and it has impressed me on all fronts. From it's impressive gaming performance, to it's beautiful 1600p IPS display, to the top tier keyboard and trackpad, I could not be happier with the overall experience. In this review, I have laid out some of the key highlights that I think makes this one of the best offerings in the latest range of RTX 4060 gaming laptops.
**********PERFORMANCE************************************************
The RTX 4060 paired with the AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS on this ROG Zephyrus laptop results in some great performance; especially considering it's slim and portable form factor. There were some caveats that I had to consider though, in order to truly maximize the performance and potential of this powerhouse of a laptop. For starters, with default "out of the box" settings, there's a massive difference between playing with the AC power adapter plugged in versus on battery (about 20 FPS difference in my testing). This is due to the Asus ROG software toggling between "Silent" mode when running off battery and "Turbo" mode when connected to power. "Silent" mode results in a lower GPU memory clock of 6000 Mhz as opposed to 8000 Mhz on "Turbo" mode. I observed the differences in memory clocks in MSI Afterburner in both scenarios. Another thing to note is the default GPU power saving mode in the Asus ROG Armoury Crate software. By default it is set to "Standard" which basically switches back and forth between the RTX 4060 and the integrated graphics. Since I'm a big advocate of always leaving the laptop plugged in when gaming in order to maximize performance, I would highly recommend changing this to "Ultimate" mode which will result in the laptop utilizing more power to improve performance. A couple of other settings that I changed in order to maximize performance was setting the "Power management mode" to "Prefer maximum performance" in the Nvidia control panel settings as well as changing the "Display Mode" to "Nvidia GPU only" to ensure that the laptop is always running off the RTX 4060 (I normally change this back to "Optimus" when traveling in order to conserve battery life).
Once all of my settings were locked into place, games ran buttery smooth and looked very fluid. I was able to run triple A titles at either fully maxed out graphical settings or at the second highest available tier. In my experience, usually playing at the second highest tier (usually "high" in most games) resulted in the best gaming experience. I would normally maintain 100+ FPS in most games without a sweat. Even with fully maxed out settings in certain titles such as Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Doom Eternal, I was able to easily maintain over 100 FPS. In some newer and more graphically demanding games like Dead Island 2, fully maxed out settings resulted in around 60 FPS. I have listed some of my benchmark results below in some of the titles I tested.
Turbo Mode on (Boost clock of up to 5.2 Ghz) - 2560 x 1440
3D Mark Time Spy Score:
Legendary: 10,032
Graphics Score: 9,841
CPU Score: 11,278

Graphics Settings: All settings on "High"
FPS High: 105
FPS Avg: 75
FPS Min: 60
VRAM Consumption (Highest): 6.8 GB
Max Temp: 86 C°
Dead Island 2:
Resolution: 2560 x 1600 (16:10)
Graphics Settings: All settings on "Ultra"
FPS High: 86
FPS Avg: 58
FPS Min: 42
VRAM Consumption (Highest): 7.2 GB
Max Temp: 88 C°
Doom Eternal:
Resolution: 2560 x 1600 (16:10)
Graphics Settings: All settings fully maxed out "Ultra Nightmare"

Graphics Settings: All settings fully maxed out "Highest"
FPS High: 89
FPS Avg: 100
FPS Min: 120
**********DISPLAY********************************************************
This is a gorgeous display. We get the usual Asus ROG Nebula display as seen in previous flagship models. It's an IPS display so the color reproduction and contrast is excellent. You won't get the blacks of an OLED or a VA panel, but the black levels were more than acceptable. White uniformity was also very good on white backgrounds. Light bleed was very minimal on this panel with the only signs of bleed showing up on the lower left and right corners and were only noticeable in scenes with pure black all around the edges.
I absolutely love the resolution and refresh rate that Asus chose for this display. Gaming at 2560x1600 resolution is probably a bit overkill for a 14-inch screen but it strikes the perfect balance between high pixel density and high framerates. Games look and run incredible with the added GSYNC module on this 165 Hz display. I never experienced any tearing or stuttering. I also love the flexibility that this display provides in terms of performance. If you want better performance and higher framerates, just drop the resolution to 2560 x 1440. It's a small visual fidelity loss (especially on a 14 inch screen) for the increase in performance. I wanted to test the rated "3ms" response time on the display so I fired up CS:GO. Comparing it to my main desktop display which has less than a 1ms response time, I really didn't notice a difference. It felt just as snappy and responsive as my main display.
One thing that I did wish that Asus added to this already great display is proper HDR support when playing games. This display is rated for Dolby Vision HDR support. What that really means though is that it supports "HDR video streaming". You'll quickly realize in the HDR settings in Windows that "Use HDR" shows up as "Not Supported". This means that you'll be able to play back HDR content from native Windows apps like the Internet Edge browser or the Netflix app, but won't be able to play games in HDR. I also haven't been able to get Dolby Vision to work properly as whenever I launch Dolby Vision content on Netflix or the Internet Edge browser, I get white snow. However, this could just be some type of codec issue that I'll need to look into further but thought it was worth mentioning.
**********DESIGN/BUILD QUALITY/FEATURES***********************************
Asus ROG laptops have always excelled when it comes to design and this new ROG Zephyrus laptop looks as stunning as ever. Nobody designs a laptop clamshell quite like Asus does. First of all, this laptop is only about a little over half an inch thick making it extremely portable for travel (let's not forget that it's packing an RTX 4060!). It's outfitted in a gorgeous white clamshell with very symmetrical and angled design cues giving it a bit of a futuristic aesthetic. It's flat and minimalistic body make it a pleasure to handle and carry. The construction feels very solidly built. There's no creaks or rattily noises when opening, closing, or handling the laptop like some of my previous high end gaming laptops have displayed. I love the hinge design on this laptop. When you open the display lid, it props up the lower body of the laptop which creates a slight angle. This makes the keyboard an absolute joy to type on as it allows your hands rest on it in a much more natural way.
There are two things that I think Asus does better than everyone else when it comes to gaming laptops; The keyboard and trackpad. The keyboard and trackpad continue to be the best I've used yet on any gaming laptop. The keyboard feels very responsive, comfortable, has just the right amount of spacing between the keys, very clean backlit font, and it's very thoughtfully laid out in terms of it's shortcut and function keys. I love the four shortcut keys on the top of the keyboard. This includes a quick volume adjustment, a quick mic mute key, and a ROG key. The ROG key launches the Armory Crate software in order to customize the keyboard lighting, speaker modes, gpu power saving options, resource monitoring, and a slew of other options to customize your entire gaming experience.
The trackpad is unrivaled. It has a sleek glass-like surface that allows your fingers to glide effortlessly. It's also very responsive. I like that neither one of the bottom corners have weird detents where one side depresses more than the other like I've experienced in other trackpads. I also love the large surface area!
In terms of the battery life, I was able to get a little over 2.5 hours when doing things like streaming music, web browsing, watching Netflix, using MS office, etc. This is to be expected from a high performance gaming laptop so I couldn't fault it much. I was also surprised with the relatively small power brick that comes included; I'm used to huge power bricks that are cumbersome to carry around.
The audio quality on this laptop is surprisingly good. Audio is very clear and crisp with no distortion even at max volume. I did notice that while content like YouTube videos and google music tended to get pretty loud, when it came to games, the max volume just wasn't as loud as I would have liked it to be. However, this is a minor gripe for me as I'll almost always use a good pair of headphones instead.
**********CONCLUSION***********************************
As you can tell by now, I'm extremely impressed with this Asus ROG Zephyrus laptop. Asus has thoughtfully and carefully considered different practical elements that truly make for an optimum gaming and productivity experience. Not only is it perfectly paired with a powerhouse of a GPU+CPU for performance, but is also excels at things like thermal performance (in all my tests I never saw it exceed 88 C°), software customizability, practical shortcut functions, ultimate build quality, and a perfectly sized form factor for on the go productivity. If you're in the market for a gaming laptop in the RTX 4060 range, you will love this ROG Zephyrus G14.

The Asus ROG G14 for 2023 is a much-needed refresh from last year's model. The chassis is still the crisp white polycarbonate exterior with a slight color difference.
Powering the ROG G14 this year is the all-new AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS CPU with built on RDNA 3 IGPU 780M. Complimenting this powerhouse is the new Nvidia RTX 4060 8GB GDDR6 GPU to blaze your way through all your favorite games.
This year, Asus switched it up and gave the consumers what they wanted, the ability to upgrade to a full 32GB of DDR5 4800Mhz Ram. The laptop comes with 16GB soldered on the motherboard instead of the 8GB from last year's model. (Bonus - Upgradable to 48GB Quad Channel Memory when installing a 32GB memory stick!) Can't complain there for sure!
For your viewing pleasure, the 2560 x 1600 QHD IPS 500nit screen has been upgraded to 165hz from last year's 120hz. Let me tell you, the colors pop off the screen just as good if not better than last year's display.
The audio is where this 14inch gaming beast shines. The 4 Dolby Atmos powered speakers deliver good punch with decent mids and highs, albeit a little too much vibration throughout the chassis for my taste. You can mitigate this by adding a thin piece of foam between the bottom firing woofers and battery on each side. Small but effective fix!
Power is backed up with a 76wr battery that gets you decent amount of gaming on the go, just keep in mind, it's still a gaming laptop so don't expect 8-10 hours of gaming on the RTX 4060 - Realistically 1-2 hours max before needing to recharge.
Rounding out Asus ROG G14 for 2023 is the standard complement of I/O ports including a microSD slot that for my use case is perfect!
If you want a small but very powerful gaming machine that will give you many hours of gaming bliss without taking out a small mortgage, then look no further than the Asus ROG G14 for 2023!

I don't know a ton about computers. I have an M1 Macbook air with 16gb of ram I used for my image editing editing. I know macs are reat for video/image editing but no matter what I did, the video editing would be subpar. Its easy for my kids to use however so I will leave it for my kids. I get this Asus g14 because a friend who knows plenty about building pcs recommended it and it was on sale for $1k. First thing I did was upgrade the ram with a 32gb corsair vengance stick and also got a wd black 2tb ssd as images and video take up a lot of room. For the life of me I could not clone the original ssd to the new one and tried various programs. I finally just inatalled the new ssd and ran the recovery windows usb i downloaded. Once I had windows, I installed the drivers again from the usb so the wifi would work. I was able to then start fresh as through wifi, Asus just made my machine like it came from the factory this way, with 48gb of ram and a 2tb ssd. It runs like butter and i can have all of my video and other adobe things running and still use audio programs and still then run a game(I don't game on pc but just played one to test it out). This thing is a beast!! It got a little warm but it ran like a champ! I get around 6 hours on battery which I think is great, my work laptop gets around 3 so this is much better! I would recommend this for $1k plus the ram and ssd upgrade i think brings it to about $1250 which I think is great for what you get. My macbook was more than that when I got it and only has 256gb and can't be upgraded.

For the current sale price (1050-1200 as of this review) this might be the best bang for your buck on the market right now.
Runs games like Elden Ring at 1440 high settings never dropping under 60. Lies of P high around 80FPS. Cyberpunk all high, RT off, around 60-70FPS, RT low around 50-60FPS.
On all games DLSS set to quality.
Screen looks great and the design keeps it up off the table enough to allow for good airflow. I haven't had it thermal throttle yet with max temps around 80 while running games and stressing the system.
I wanted something small I could use on work trips and on my upcoming international flight, this fits the bill almost perfectly. One thing to note is while running games you will be pulling about 150-165W of power which is right at the limit of the highest allowing outlets on some international planes. The USB-C charging does not pass-through power the laptop, it only charges the battery. So if you game while charging on USBC it will be very hard on your battery as though you were gaming on battery alone. Fine on occasion but long term or consistent usage like this would lead to the battery wearing out quicker. Just something to keep in mind.
RAM and SSD are easy to upgrade with official instructions available from ASUS, but I would advise against disconnecting the battery as the tab is known to short out the motherboard and kill it. Instead just be very careful and when replacing the SSD use a magnetic screwdriver with a strong magnet to make sure the screw does not fall onto the board. If you do this, you can avoid the risk of disconnecting the battery.

This is a great portable light laptop with a 4060 in it. It’s light for school use and the build quality and screen are nice. Don’t know why they didn’t put a 1tb drive in a 1600 dollar laptop but that’s the only concern. They are cheap if you want to swap it out.
The 7940hs cpu is the best cpu to consider for speed and power efficiency for battery life. Also the integrated graphics in this thing is a beast if you don’t even need to use the 4060 graphics to save on battery life.

The Zephyrus G14 (2023) is an amazing little machine. I have spent the last 2 weeks enjoying my purchase. Previously I had a lenovo legion y7000-p with a 1060 and this was a huge jump in performance for me. Previously I could barely play games without scaling, now I can play 1080p games natively on high or even 1440p with DLSS turned on. The AMD chip is so efficient when switching to iGPU only mode and this gets me through the day when doing schoolwork. The screen is 2560 by 1600 with a 16:10 aspect ratio and 500 nits of max brightness, which is good for productivity tasks. This laptop is in a slim 14 inch factor. I wanted something light and portable with good power for my games in my downtime, and this was everything I needed and more. This was worth every penny.

Excellent travel laptop for my purposes as a software dev. The CPU is a fantastic model; it is a good balance between near-desktop speed and excellent battery life. I get about 5 hours of battery life, which is perfect for working out at a coffee shop. Its about twice as fast as my 3 year old laptop it is replacing. I like the build quality and lightness of this model. For gaming it is pretty mediocre by today's standards, but it works and that's all I need for a travel laptop.
I got mine on super sale, so it was an excellent value. I wouldn't pay MSRP for it.
I am running Ubuntu 22.04 on it, and it did have some issues getting running at full speed. The wifi has a buggy driver implementation (very slow speeds) in the version of linux that 22.04 uses. Its fixed upstream so you have to download its binaries and paste them in a system folder. The function keys don't work by default but there are various projects that enable them. There were a couple other odd quirks I discovered that I was able to fix. So this laptop isn't ideal for Linux but it does work fully with some tweaking.

Amazing laptop for people that want portability and the ability to game still. Ran any of my games flawlessly. Computer fans can be a little loud but what gaming laptop isn’t especially with the power you get from this device.
Battery life is great and you can easily get over 8 hours which is pretty incredible for a gaming laptop
I have no complaints on this laptop

Appearance
Pros:
-The keyboard keys light up nicely and are even visible in a lit room. (Multi colors to choose from)
-Very stylish white vibe and everything is laid out very neatly button wise. Solid construction overall.
-Nice amount of inputs, my previous laptop didn’t even have this many so this is really nice that it has an HDMI, 2 USB-C plug, a plug for a microphone, 2 USB and one plug for a micro SD card!
-The screen is matte which means you don’t have to stare at yourself every time the screen is darker or if there are lights behind you which is soooo nice.
Cons:
-the charging box itself is pretty heavy and large especially for a small laptop
Gaming wise:
I am comparing this to my gaming desktop that I have, and already, right off the bat it feels screaming fast.
Pros:
-Download speeds are extremely quick, what took my other computer 6-8 hours only took this laptop around 3-4 which is crazy to me.
-The graphics can also run at full detail with no frame rate drops or lagging problems, everything is extremely crisp and beautiful on this laptop, and this is coming from someone who plays Ark, one of the most graphic intense games out there.
When you open the laptop, the lid has built-in cams that push the keyboard away from the desk surface to create air space for cooling. Smart feature.
Cons:
- it does start to get hot very fast, the fans work very hard and are pretty loud getting all the heat out, but this thing gets very hot to the touch, especially above the number row on the keyboard. When held down even the numbers are extremely hot while playing. I got up to a 104 degree reading above the number row using a laser heat reader. This was all at the highest graphic settings playing Ark. Running lower graphic setting or less GPU and CPU required games will fair better on the heat issue.
Not crazy about the 500GB Hard drive size. Games take up a lot of space now a days, It would be nice to see at least 1TB.
Volume:
Pros: it has great surround sound. When I play games, I can hear things where they are, which makes it super useful if I don’t want to use headphones.
Cons: the volume when turned up produces heavy vibrations that can be annoying when gaming and almost feel like when your phone vibrates on the table.
Other functions:
Pros: there’s a program that allows you to view your gpu and cpu along with temperatures and other live computer details.
Cons: there seems to be an issue when closing the laptop where it sometimes does not sleep, I had it closed for the night when it suddenly powered on making the logo sound you hear when you first start the computer, and on top of that when opening it sometimes gets stuck on a black screen and you must fully restart the computer.
Battery is okay, Approx time we got:
70 min. under normal browsing use
50 min. with gaming (Overwatch)
Summary:
Very fast computer with excellent graphics but gets a little warm running at max.
Also, this is on the smaller side of screen sizes, so keep that in mind if you are used to larger screens for gaming. However, you can always connect via HDMI to a larger monitor, problem solved.
I recommend you always use this on a hard surface, not on your lap, or soft surfaces that prevent air from getting circulated from the bottom. I will purchase and use a laptop cooling pad, that should solve the heat issue.
Full disclaimer, my daughter has helped with this review as she is a massive gamer.
-1 star for the heat issue and the just ‘okay’ battery life, she is very happy with this laptop.
The only other comment is she kind of wished it had a bigger screen.

Awesome gaming laptop that's both powerful and easy to carry around. The Moonlight White color gives it a unique look compared to most gaming laptops.
When it comes to performance, this laptop doesn't disappoint. The AMD Ryzen 9 processor and 16GB of memory mean it can handle pretty much anything you throw at it. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 graphics card kicks things up a notch, delivering great frame rates and making games look stunning.
The 512GB SSD keeps things speedy, from booting up to loading games. If you need more space, you can always use an external drive, but for most people, this should be plenty.
One of the best things about the Zephyrus G14 is how portable it is. It's light and compact, so you can easily take it wherever you go.
Battery life is surprisingly good for a gaming laptop. You can get several hours of use on a single charge, which is great if you're always on the move.
In short, the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 is a fantastic gaming laptop that's perfect for gamers who want power and portability. Whether you're a hardcore gamer or just need a solid laptop for work and play, this one's definitely worth checking out.

Beast of a machine in a small package!

Before this, I was using another Asus product, a TUF gaming machine that had an RTX1650 as the primary graphics card. While that machine has served me well over the past few years, jumping to this was a WOW moment. I am surprised at how much power they were able to pack into this little laptop. For starters , I was initally impressed at the packaging Asus did with this as they seemed to have put some thought into first impressions, and as far as I am concerned, they succeeded. Most companies give us a plain, generic box that just screams mediocracy but not Asus! Opening the box elevates the laptop as if to say "Here I am, marvel at my beauty", and a beauty it is. The chassis of the case is somewhat of a creamy white color, and has a sturdy build in terms of quality. Raising the cover is a simple 1 finger operation which presents us with a welcome addition of a larger then normal trackpad along with a single zone backlit keyboard. Setting up was a breeze as we can use Windows Hello to securely log into our account with the help of an IR camera, something my previous model was not able to do.
On the left side we have the power connection, HDMI port, USB-C port and a headphone jack (for those who still like the wired experience). On the right we have 2 3.2 USB-A ports, another USB-C port and a slot for a microsd card (this is somewhat of a strange addition but I can make use of it), so there are plenty of ports for everyone! One thing in this area that somewhat has me scratching my head placement of the power connector. The plug is L shaped, which means it can only sit one way without covering up the HDMI slot.
Internally this comes with a paltry 512GB NVME drive, and for my needs that just does not cut it, so I installed a 2TB drive, which brings me to upgradablity and thankfully any end user upgrades are easily to do but limited. Removing the cover allows the owner to swap out the NVME drive and add another stick of DDR5 memory but that is all. This model comes with 16GB of DDR5 4800 soldered onto the motherboard but there is another free slot to add more, which is next on my list. Charging the laptop is swift as well with the help of the 250w charging brick . On first boot, it was at 60% battery which jumped up to 80% in less than 20 min, so that was impressive (remember what I am coming from in terms of hardware here)
Moving on to actual usage, the keys have a relatively firm feeling to them and are not squishy or clicky at all, which for me, makes it a pleasure to use. The screen on this model is vibrant with a 144mhz refresh rate, and while it performs well with whatever I have thrown at it, I do prefer to hook it up to my Asus TUF monitor. The smaller screen is great for those who will not always have access to an external monitor. Speaking of the screen, one thing I have noticed is that on the bottom right side of the panel, there is a slight light bleed coming through, which really is only noticable if the screen is completely black. This brings me to what is powering this beast, the GTX4060, and while I am amazed at how far graphics technology has some, there is also a big negative, but this also might run along side a negative I have about the design of the chassis. To date, I have thrown games like Fortnite, War Thunder, and Jedi Survivor at it, to name a few, all with close to or maxed out graphics, and this thing runs HOT sitting normally on a desk. And by hot I mean uncomfortable to the touch hot in certain areas around the keyboard. Above the keyboard there is a small dead space and on one side is the power button, and the other 4 buttons, 2 for volume, 1 for mute, and 1 for Armory Crate (this is the Asus software that allows you to monitor things like temps, fan speeds, set profiles and so on). In that dead space, under the cover, is where 2 of the exhaust outlets are. I believe there are 4 in total, 2 that blow out on the sides and 2 that blow out of the back, at least I feel warm air coming from those vents. Anyway, that dead space is extremely hot to the touch after 10 min of gaming or so. If the back vents are indeed exhaust vents, their placement in a poor position but given the small profile of the device, I do not see where else it could go. The screen panel is one where it opens 180 degrees, which has its uses but most of us will only open it to around 90 degrees or so which means all of that hot air is being directed right onto the screen itself. One workaround for this is to use an external monitor which will allow you to keep the panel closed.
When I mentioned hot in the above paragraph, I mean "should I be worried" hot. After 30 min of Jedi Survivor this afternoon, I checked the temps and I was somewhat concerned. The CPU was running at 91C and the GPU 83C (which translates to 195F and 181F), and trust me, that heat does make that area above the keyboard really uncomfortable to touch but I did also wanted to try something. I placed a deck of cards under the laptop to elevate it slightly, and that brought a pretty noticeable change, for the better, in temps. After doing this, the temps hovered around the high 70c/low 80s for the cpu and the GPU was a tad lower, noticable difference right..remember heat is the enemy of electronics.
Overall, I am very happy with this unit, aside from the heat issues. While it is not top TOP of the line, it is more than capable of handling anything I have thrown at it to date, with close to, if not, max settings with all the bells and whistles. For its price point, I wish they would have included a larger NVME drive , but at least they made upgrading it a hasslefree experience.
