I get excited every time I get to flip open the lid to my new 2025 Asus ROG Zephyrus G14. This laptop is an absolute powerhouse in a small form factor. I think Asus nailed a perfect harmony of specs, display, thermal performance, build quality, and design with this year's Zephyrus G14. It has performed flawlessly with everything I've thrown at it thus far. Aside from the raw performance that this G14 is capable of, it does so while looking sleek and sexy. In my opinion, Asus currently designs the most gorgeous Windows gaming laptops outfitted with the best build quality. This G14 Zephyrus is no exception. It is constructed with an all-metal body that feels slick and extremely premium to the touch. I love that Asus mostly keeps the design minimalistic and professional looking. The only minor gaming accents are the small ROG badge and the slash lighting accent on the rear of the lid. The outer clamshell body of the laptop is super thin at just slightly over 0.6 inches. It's also very light at just over 3 lbs. The weight and dimensions of this laptop make it the perfect travel gaming companion. A major highlight of past flagship Asus laptops that I've always praised is their touchpads. When it comes to Windows laptops, Asus makes the best touchpad that I've yet to experience. We get the same lovely touchpad on this year's Zephyrus. It has this premium fiberglass feel to it that is complimented by velvety smooth actuation. I also love how large the surface area is. Asus, if you're reading this, please don't ever change your touchpad quality and design! It truly has become a hallmark of your flagship laptops.
In terms of performance, I could not be happier with the power duo that is the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 and the RTX 5080. I have included some gaming benchmark metrics below of some of the titles I tested along with some of the synthetic benchmark tools I ran. All games were maxed out on the highest quality graphic presets. The "Turbo" operating mode and "Ultra" GPU mode were selected in Armoury Crate along with "prefer maximum performance" in the NVIDIA control panel.

As evidenced, even at a high resolution (i.e. 2880x1800), this year's G14 Zephyrus produces impressive performance with some respectable thermals. This brings me to the GORGEOUS 3K 120Hz OLED Nebula G-SYNC display. When playing HDR enabled games, this OLED produced some of the best contrast, color reproduction, and inkiest blacks I've ever seen on a laptop gaming display. I think that 120Hz was the perfect refresh rate choice by Asus. With a resolution of 2880x1800 that yields such a high pixel density, I don't see an added benefit to having a significantly higher refresh rate with a 5080. You could probably make that argument if this was spec'd with a 5090. The resolution, refresh rate, and specs are perfectly balanced and result in a gaming experiencing that is buttery smooth with a high degree of visual fidelity. When it came to multitasking, the 32GB of LPDDR5X RAM performed beautifully. While having about 100 browser tabs open, I was able to edit and render a video, stream on Netflix, and play a windowed game on Steam without the Zephyrus G14 breaking a sweat!
A couple of other stars of the show worth mentioning are the speakers and keyboard. I was very impressed by the level of detail in the audio quality. Not only when gaming, but when listening to music. The audio signature sounded very crisp, refined, and bright; almost as if Asus has custom tuned them for this laptop. The audio also gets surprisingly loud for laptop speakers! The keyboard has solid key actuation, and each key feels sturdy and of high quality. I love how well thought out the design is; from the dedicated Armoury Crate key to the additional top row of macro keys, it always felt intuitive to quickly execute basic functions.
Overall, I'm extremely impressed with this year's ROG Zephyrus G14. It's flagship specs, paired with a stunning OLED display, not only makes a super high-end gaming experience possible on-the-go, but it also means you'll be bringing along a productivity workhorse wherever you go. The top notch build quality and components of the laptop just brings it all together. If you're looking for a flagship gaming experience or need a productivity monster, I highly recommend you try this Zephyrus G14.

This years Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 improves upon previous iterations in nearly every way. I couldn't wait to get my hands on this beast of a machine and it couldn't have come at a better time. Lots of great games have/are set to release, to put this laptop to the test!
Build-
Overall the sleek design feels fresh and samey but doesn't take away from the premium experience. I prefer darker colors to alluminum silver but that's a small nitpick. At a glance it's not much different visually but that's okay, it still looks great. It's what's on the inside that counts. The keyboard and track pad are standard and it'll come down to personal feel, though the size of the pad is very nice and will fit most hands comfortably. For me, I'd like the keys to feel a little more clicky. As well as your usual affair of ports and inputs, there's even a USB-C 4 port which provides incredible data transfer rates.
Visuals-
Following suit with a 3K OLED display, you can't help but gush at the visual fidelity and color grading. Everything you throw at it will look fantastic. For a 14 inch laptop, it doesn't get much better than this. Another repeat offender is the max of 120 hz refresh rate, to some this may be a negative, more so in the competitive department. Peak brightness is 500 nits, this is fair for a screen of this size and doesn't detract from the quality of lighting, in my opinion.
Performance -
The meat and potatoes of a gaming rig has all to do with how well said games run. So then, to no surprise it can run even the most demanding of games no problem. Boasting the latest series of Nvidia graphics cards, the RTX GeForce 5080 is monster of a GPU and truly turns this laptop into something special. With the inclusion of not only ray-tracing and DLSS, but the latest in frame generation technology, your games have never looked and felt better. For starters, vRam is bumped up to 12 gb so higher settings and options are more attainable. Games like, God of War, Cyberpunk 2077 and Black ops 6 all looked and felt incredible.
Audio and Battery-
Sound design and quality was a particular standout for me last generation and I'm happy to report, it still slaps. The speaker and audio clarity is still some of the best I've used. Most of the time the speakers are preferable over headphones unless I'm playing multiplayer. Battery life is a necessary trade off when you're demanding this much power from a small package. Some productivity and light game is feesable for a couple of hours but you'll want to be plugged in, to fully experience the G14 at its best.
Closeout-
The Asus ROG Zephyrus G14(2025) is an absolute unit of a laptop, with masterclass in build quality. The minor nitpicks don't hold it back from being among the best of the best for portable gaming. If you can stomach the pretty penny required or have been waiting for the time to upgrade, this is the one to get.

This latest gaming laptop from Asus not only looks great but is as fast as it is good looking. Asus and their ROG systems have impressed me the last few years from the desktop to now these laptops. Out the box I had it connected to my network and windows configured in about 10 minutes then just had to reinstall specific apps I like and then reinstall some of my favorite games to play.
First thing I noticed was the weight of this laptop, it isn't super thin or lightweight but it is noticeably lighter than my last gaming laptop which was a Helios Predator. I would attribute the weight to the high quality materials that it is made with though. The power supply is also rather large and hefty and with the cutting edge hardware inside this laptop you won't get all day use or gaming without needing to recharge it. One cool effect when charging is the LED light bar in the outer cover that lights up when charging.
Booting up is faster than any of my other laptops and games or apps launch super fast with the amount of RAM loaded in this laptop. The Nvidia RTX has handled every game I have thrown at it without breaking a sweat but when gaming the fans kick on and it gives off some serious heat.
Pros
- Has plenty of muscle to run a just about any game with high or extreme settings
- Smaller and more compact than many other gaming laptops on the market
- OLED screen is SHARP and CRISP, the colors really pop and the blacks are deep
- Speakers are actually some of the best I have experienced on a laptop, they come across crystal clear when gaming or watching movies and are located to create great positional audio effects
Cons
- Even though it is small it is heavy to carry around
- Power brick is not small and this laptop requires a lot of power to run
- When running games it puts off a lot of heat, have to make sure it is elevated to allow for airflow
- Has multiple apps that I don't have a need for and not a fan of the Armoury Crate that comes in the Asus ROG systems, just my personal preference
Overall this laptop looks sharp and performs even better. If you go anywhere with this laptop it will get noticed and get asked about for sure.

So far, this has been a great little laptop. The build quality feels really nice, as it should. The keyboard feels good, and key travel feels nice when typing. It performs well for its size but gets very loud well gaming. I'm getting around 8 hours of battery life with the dgpu off, well browsing the web and having a YouTube video going. The oled screen looks great.
Only major problem I have encountered is when I have two external monitors connected, the one hooked into the HDMI doesn't wake when the computer starts of the monitors sleep and I need to turn it off and on or pull out and plug back in the cable (It has worked fine with two other desktops previously).
Body gets very hot well gaming. I got a llano V10 to use with it and it lowered the temperatures well gaming to 76C average on the gpu and cpu in Helldivers with the cooling pad at 1400rpm, and is way cooler to the touch well also lowering the fan speed by around 1000 rpm.
I find the touchpad a little too big. Mine is slightly lower set on one side than the other. It still feels reasonably good to use, so I don't feel the need to have a mouse with me.
Highly recommend getting ghelper and removing armory crate. Probably get the 5070ti model unless you want the 16GB of vram since the 5080 is only about 10% faster.
So far, I have enjoyed this little laptop for the week I have had it. I think it is easily the best overall portable gaming laptop on the market currently.

I wonder if the 5070TI at 130-145W would be better

TL;DR - The performance is slower than I’d like especially for it being a “5080” by name. I am hunching that a laptop equipped with a 145W 5070TI will outperform this laptop. That said, it’s gorgeous, and extremely well built. Speakers are fantastic, screen and battery life is also superb. Lastly, I was able to undervolt, and overclock this thing and still have my GPU temps around 73 degrees (Celcius). I recommend it for those willing to compromise on performance for a slim, light design with good battery life. If you want more performance, then I don’t recommend this laptop.
—--
I'll start by saying I LOVE this laptop, however one thing I didn’t like is the fact it is slower than a full 'fat' RTX 4080 laptop! Even if that 4080 laptop was put in "Balanced" mode to reduce fan noise at the cost of performance. Even then it still out performed the 5080. And this with the Asus is set to "Turbo" or maxed out "Manual" mode. So as you can imagine, higher fan noise, and still less performance in games.
All that said, what you do gain by sacrificing the performance is a solid, and I mean solid laptop for EVERYTHING else! Documents, screen, speakers, battery life, for school, work, light weight, great keyboard, and play. I can't get over how good this thing is for 90% of everything else.
Back to gaming and its performance, I did have to either change the system resolution to 2560x1600 for Full Screen Windowed mode gaming or play games in full screen exclusive mode and change the resolution in game if I wanted to keep Windows itself at 3K resolution. Otherwise, you'll lose quite a bit of performance keeping it at 3K with very little visual gains at 3k vs the 2.5K it should have come with. I’d almost argue that you may be able to get away with 1920x1200 if you don’t pay too close attention. At 14” it’s not horrible. Still I don't fully understand Asus’s decision to go to 3K resolution on a 14" laptop, but because of that, you have to keep that in mind when you're gaming. I would assume that it’s to help content creators on this laptop. I have no knowledge of that industry so I can’t speak to anything in that regard. Colors look fine to me lol!
For most modern games, I had to adjust my expectations a little and change my “set [to Ultra] and forget” mentality that I'm used to, to being a little more conscious about graphic settings. Like I said earlier, I lowered the resolution in the game to 2560x1600 for most games and set the presets to High instead of Ultra. When I use DLSS, I have changed it to "Balanced" instead of "Quality" or “DLAA”, and that is my life now. And I'm mostly okay with that.
The screen itself is seriously so good and the speakers seem to punch higher than its weight class. HDR gaming is a treat as well and the very first thing I noticed was the brights and how amazing they looked in Black Ops 6. It’s beautiful IMO.
As for the nerdy things - Most of my initial testing was done stock. Using only what Armory Crate offered. I set it to Manual mode or Turbo mode, and went to town on my benchmarks, and game play.
After my testing, I decided to undervolt it, and I achieved -130 mV and was able to gain +120 MHz on the GPU. Manual mode on Armory Crate does +50 I believe. With all that said, it didn’t give me much performance in games, maybe like 2-10 FPS on average depending on the game. But the temps went from 77-78 C, down to 73 C, when having the GPU punching at 100% for utilization and that’s with more clock and undervoltage. I noticed closer to upper 60s in other games when not setting the graphics to Max and Resolution to Max. Especially at 1920x1200.
Anyway to conclude, I’m super happy with this laptop, I’m only docking one star because I’m partially thinking a 5070TI at maybe 130-145W would be a better option than a 5080 at 110W with boost. I don’t know though, just speculating there, but whether that’s true of false, doesn’t matter, it’s still disappointing for me that the 5080 name doesn’t seem to be 5080 in performance.

I have had my eye on a Zephyrus G14 for a couple years. One of my friends got one, after a few sessions I knew I wanted to join the ranks, but had delayed until recently. I wanted a laptop with a premium aesthetic, matching quality and did not want to sacrifice performance. This seemed like the perfect option for me.
Starting with the packaging and unboxing experience. This arrived in a larger cardboard box, fairly unassuming to BestBuy's credit, not a huge target for porch pirates. Inside the large cardboard box a thick layer of bubble wrap surrounded a standard laptop shipping box, how you would normally expect to receive a laptop via shipping. This clearly identifies the device, and further protects the device and the accessories. Within this box was yet another box, a handsome matte black box, wrapped in plastic. I allowed my daughter to help remove this wrap, as it was "satisfying" for her. All of these were Apple levels of unboxing, minus the tamper evident first use removal strips.
Aesthetically, this met my expectations quite well. Visually it is very reminiscent of an Apple Macbook Pro, which I like. It has this sort of sleeper build vibe, and aside from the LED lighting in the back, it looks like your average ultrabook. The Platinum white colorway is also more silvery than white, as it appears in many pictures online. It feels elevated from the standard fare you find with gamer-centric devices. The RGB Overload is turned down, but you can make your keyboard sing with all the colors of the wind, if that's your jam.
The build quality is solid. Everything feels solid throughout, it's not super flexible and the keyboard doesn't feel like a trampoline when you type on it. The aluminum is smooth and no errors can be detected from manufacturing. It feels good in your hands and it looks good sitting on the desk.
Performance of this laptop is great. I have used just the built in display, which is gorgeous, and I have used USB-C to output onto a 39" ultrawide, which has been awesome. I have mainly played Oblivion Remastered, Baldurs Gate 3 and Minecraft, all run at high frames with no screen tearing at high/ultra settings. It has DLSS baked into the GPU, which I think does a pretty good job of keeping the framerate up. I haven't noticed weird artifacts or anything, though I tend to enjoy the game and not try to nitpick flaws.
A couple negative things are related to performance.
1. If you are gaming at high settings, it gets hot. I do not recommend gaming with this thing on your lap, ouch.
2. To combat the high temperatures the fans will kick on, ramp up and sound like the laptop is preparing for take-off. I would definitely recommend gaming with headphones on.
There is a good selection of ports / IO on this laptop. USB-C can be used for power delivery as well as video output, there is HDMI, a proprietary power connection, 2 old school USB ports and a multi-card reader.
I have had one minor issue with this laptop. The discreet graphics didn't seem to want to auto-switch when performing under graphics intensive loads as it was designed to. Not sure why this was the case. There are multiple apps built into the system to allow this to occur, but I was unsuccessful. I decided to disable the integrated graphics and allow the RTX 5080 to do everything. I am only gaming on this laptop, so I don't care if it's less efficient at all tasks. Although I will say that the integrated graphics did a pretty impressive job on it's own, running Oblivion Remastered at playable framerates on medium settings.
I installed GPUZ and confirmed that all the ROPS were present, a worry I had when ordering a RTX 5080 GPU.
All things considered, this laptop does everything I want it to do. It's attractive, well built, has an amazing display and performs well when it comes to gaming. The fan noise and heat are expected tradeoffs when using a platform like this.
Go get one and get gaming!

This is a powerful laptop with a clear and vibrant screen that makes games and creative work look fantastic. The three K OLED panel with a one hundred twenty hertz refresh keeps motion smooth, and the RTX 5080 with a strong Ryzen chip gives you the kind of performance that makes a desktop feel unnecessary. It stays reasonably quiet for the power on tap and the battery is pretty good for a gaming machine, especially if you install GHelper to dial in profiles and protect long term health. I like that you can charge with USB C for light tasks so you do not have to carry the big brick for classes or coffee shop sessions. The chassis feels sturdy but still comes in very light, and the finish has a subtle gray tone rather than bright white which should age better and hide scuffs.
The memory and storage are set up the way they should be on a premium device. Thirty two gigs means no worry about juggling browsers and launchers, and the two terabyte NVMe gives space for a healthy library without having to swap drives or rebuild Windows. Thermal management is smart enough that fans do not drone during normal work, and when you push it they ramp up without an annoying pitch. Battery life will drop fast during heavy gaming but for mixed use the balance is solid, and the quick wake makes it easy to pick up where you left off. The price is really high, but if you want a long lasting gaming laptop that can stand in for a desktop while staying easy to carry, this is a very strong choice. For the performance, build, and day to day convenience, the price for the quality is good.

This is by far the most powerful laptop I've had in its form-factor weight class. I have owned and used big powerful gaming laptops previously, but they were always too cumbersome to travel with and usually I would just leave them at home and take a smaller tablet instead. Now in 2025 you can have your gaming travel cake and eat it too! Just keep in mind the trade off for being a smaller footprint is that it gets a bit louder with the fans to keep it cool and it's still warm/bordering hot under heavy gameplay. I would recommend picking up a cheap Amazon "lap" laptop pillow to rest this on if you try to play from your couch or bed. I would link it here but it's likely frowned on so just search on there and make sure it was a solid top to rest this on. Otherwise for casual browsing and maybe even some "light" gaming it would be fine. Really to get the most of out this system I would recommend a flat cool surface and plugged in. Those caveats aside it really packs a punch and delivers on all my gaming needs especially when I need to travel now!

The Asus Zephyrus G14 is a beast on paper, but everything doesn’t seem to add up…
Let me start off by saying the G14 is a premium laptop with premium parts. It has a beautiful 3K OLED display with 144hz refresh rate, a large glass touchpad, backlit keys that are incredibly comfortable to type with, and some of the best sounding speakers that I’ve heard from a laptop. The G14 is equipped with 32gb DDR5X ram, 2TB M.2 storage, an AMD Ryzen 9HX 370 with 12 cores, and an impressive GTX 5080 16gb DDR7 graphics card.
I downloaded some of the latest and demanding games to test the performance. The first game I tried out was Expedition 33, which downloaded surprisingly fast with the laptop’s latest WIFI 7 card. I set the graphics setting to max and tested it out. The performance was not what I was expecting from such a spec’d-out laptop…The picture was choppy, and the performance was not at all that great. That’s when I started to play around and tweak some settings in the built-in Armoury Crate app. I switched the performance to Ultra, restarted the laptop and booted up the game again. This time the results were much better, the performance ran super smoothly, no jitter or frame drops, the graphics and details were astonishing especially with the beautiful 3K OLED display. I would like to mention that I found that putting the GPU in the Optimized setting, seems to be an overall good setting to leave the laptop in, it works good in both gaming and everyday computing.
The next Game I tried out was Cyberpunk. While I was able to get it to max out at an incredible 204fps, the graphics didn’t look as good as I expected, especially from a 16gb DDR7 RTX 5080. I played around with the settings a bit and tried a few different options, but I never was able to achieve both the performance and graphics that I wanted. I tried out a few other games, all of which gave incredible performances, namely Titanfall 2, that game both played and looked amazing!
Unfortunately, not all is perfect with the G14. I did experience a few problems with the laptop and there are some things I just don’t like about it. For instance, I don’t like how it automatically turns off the GTX when on battery power and defaults to the CPU’s built-in graphics, while this can be configured in the settings in Armoury Crate, the options are very limited. I also noticed some major performance issues when it came to the CPU and GPU working together. It’s almost as if the computer gets confused on which one to use, which causes it to drastically slowdown in performance. Hopefully these issues will work themselves out in future software updates. Another issue I have is with the fan and how loud it gets…The speakers are amazing in this laptop, but the fan is so loud that it can overpower the speakers at times. The laptop also runs incredibly hot, so hot that it becomes too hot to touch.
Overall, the G14 is an incredible laptop, it’s built with premium parts, amazing speakers, beautiful OLED display, etc... But the performance seems to be lacking for me. With the specs that this laptop offers including the 32gb DDR5X ram and GTX 5080 with 16gbDDR7 dedicated graphics card, I would expect nothing less than super blazing fast performance right out of the box, to be able to play the most demanding games on max settings without a hitch, but I don’t seem to get that. Instead, it feels like the system is being heavily throttled at times, or the CPU and GPU are in conflict with each other. With that being said, unfortunately I won’t be able to recommend this laptop to gamers.

This is a very solid product with excellent overall performance. The device runs fast and handles demanding tasks and games very well. It is lightweight and thin, which makes it extremely convenient for business trips and travel.
The only downside for me is that the screen refresh rate does not fully meet my expectations. Additionally, while performance is great now, I do have some concerns about heat management during long-term use. Overall, it is still a great device and I am very satisfied with it.

Laptop has played games well although the only difficult game I’ve thrown at it was ark survival ascended, but it played that well too. Laptop has a good feel to it and I have no complaints other then the typical complaints that it runs like a gaming laptop and the aluminum can get warm but not uncomfortable to use. I would suggest this to anyone who needs or wants a 14” laptop with sufficient power and a good display!

I seriously love this laptop — but ASUS has a major issue that overshadows the experience.
Pros:
Display: The 14" 3K OLED 120Hz screen is the best I’ve ever seen in a laptop this size.
Audio: Speakers are phenomenal, easily among the best in any laptop.
Build & Portability: Premium design, thin, light, and easy to carry.
Software & Battery: With GHelper, battery life is excellent (9–11 hours for office work), and the software experience is smooth and customizable.
Cons:
Stuttering: This is the 5th Zephyrus/Strix I’ve owned, and they all suffer from severe, unmitigable stutter issues. It happens in gaming, browsing, switching tabs, or even opening desktop apps — random 1–3 second freezes that break the flow.
Widespread Problem: Research shows this is a known issue across ASUS high-end laptops, and I’ve personally verified it in multiple models over the years.
Overall Impact: The hitching is noticeable, distracting, and makes me hesitant to buy another ASUS gaming laptop until they acknowledge and fix the problem.
Bottom Line: The Zephyrus G14 is gorgeous, powerful, and portable — but the random stutters ruin what should be a flawless experience.

Great laptop, super fast, graphics and display are incredible, the speed is unmatched in a laptop, so far this is the best laptop I have owned. 1 slight downside is the heat from it.

This is the best in its class, with a stunning screen. Given its ultra-slim design, I expected it to heat up during gaming, but what I didn’t anticipate was that the area around the keyboard and trackpad also gets quite hot only during gaming, though, not with regular use. This makes it a bit uncomfortable to use the keyboard and trackpad during those times. Other than that, it's a beautiful light weight and a powerful laptop.

The ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 is incredible! The 14" OLED 120Hz display is sharp and vibrant, and with the Ryzen 9 + RTX 5080 + 32GB RAM, everything runs fast and smooth. The 2TB SSD makes load times almost instant, and the Platinum White finish looks clean and premium. Lightweight, portable, and powerful — easily one of the best laptops I’ve ever owned.

Awesome laptop with good battery life, great trackpad, and great screen. But after months of plays games like Starfield, i notice it can get hot on the keyboard and extremely hot on the sides. Im a quadriplegic so this is really important to it. The temperatures can easily get up to 110 degrees F, which is HOT!!! Plus, under extreme loads during gameplay, the g14 throttles. Ive had it crash 2 or 3 times in my months playing with it. Its a beautiful laptop! But unfortunately, it has some annoying downsides. If I had the choice again, I'd wait for a Strix SCAR 16 with the new AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX3D with a 5080. But that'll never be since the Intel exclusivity with ASUS (speculation, of course!)

Okay, so you want the absolute highest-end 14-inch gaming laptop? The Zephyrus G14 with the RTX 5080 is it—a beast of a machine that’s unbelievably fast for its size, but you gotta be ready for the trade-offs.
The Good: This thing is ridiculously powerful. The RTX 5080 and Ryzen AI 9 CPU chew up modern games, especially since you can lean hard on DLSS 4 and Frame Generation at the native 2.8K resolution. That 120Hz OLED screen is pure fire, too—perfect blacks, G-Sync, and super responsive. It looks and feels premium; a true powerhouse you can actually throw in a backpack.
The Vibe Check: Look, when you cram this much silicon into a thin chassis, physics happens. When you're pushing max settings, the keyboard deck gets seriously toasty, and the fans get LOUD. Seriously, wear a headset. Plus, this top-tier configuration is going to require emptying your savings account.
The Summary: If you’re willing to pay the premium for truly unparalleled performance in a travel-friendly rig, and you don't mind the noise/heat trade-off, this is the king of portable gaming.

Phenomenal laptop if you know what you’re getting in for. Being thin/light, it pushes a little less power than larger 16” comparable hardware, but you simply can’t beat the power it does have in this kind of form factor. Beautiful screen and room filling speakers, luxurious build quality.
