This is laptop is hands down my favorite laptop I have purchased by far. I have owned multiple laptops for the purpose of schooling, gaming, and mobility. I am very impressed with Asus with this laptop and all of its uses. I understand it may not be for everyone but it was exactly what I was looking for. So here are my pros and cons for the laptop. Pros: -Lightweight for a gaming laptop making it great for mobility -Really good for gaming compared to larger gaming laptops and, specifically, Intel based laptops. The keys respond very well, easy to use and access, and the graphics and processor work great for a vast majority of games with good fps depending on the settings. -Battery Life for this laptop is great for day to day use. You can extend the battery life by using the armoury crate settings depending on your usage, or boost the gpu and cpu for those heavier games. -Speed. With the 1 TB SSD drive, this allows you to easily access your files and gives you plenty of storage for all of your pictures, videos, and games. -Sound. Asus did great by putting 2 speakers on top and below for an all around great experience. Cons: -No web camera. Seeing as there are plenty of ways to get a really good camera that you can plug into your laptop, this is not a con for me, but might be for others -Noise. When you play games, or change the settings to turbo mode, the fans can get really loud. However, if you are gaming and have a decent pair of headphones, this should not bother you. -Potential initial updates to fix problems mentioned by many other reviews. There were a lot of reviews stating screen crashing problems, problems with armoury crate, however, Asus seemed to fix them with the most recent update and I have owned this laptop for a month now and I try to test the laptop on a regular basis. If you can get all the updates right and tinker around with the settings, this laptop is absolutely fantastic! Overall I would rate this laptop a 5/5 for everything mentioned above. I plan to revisit this review after 6-12 months to update as necessary, however, Asus has thoroughly impressed me with this laptop!

Just got this today. After a system update the screen was unresponsive and would not turn back on. I tried connecting an external monitor so I could reset the computer. That did not fix it either, I'm so disappointed.

      Dear Mack,

I'm sorry to hear that you are having issues booting the computer after an update. All ASUS products undergo intensive quality control, testing and inspections. What you've experienced was not intentional or representative of our brand. Please leave the machine plugged into power for at least 4 hours, and then attempt to boot it. If that does not resolve the issue, I would recommend returning the unit or sending it to ASUS for a warranty repair. If you have any general or technical questions, please email me at [email protected] and include case #N200706953 for reference.

      Thank you for choosing ASUS!

      Best regards,

This is hands down the best laptop I have ever owned. It is powerful and great for gaming, all while in a small package that doesn't draw any attention. It's sleek and discreet and most people wouldn't even know it's a gaming laptop because it just looks cool, nothing more and nothing less. The monitor is great with solid refresh rates and high definition. The keyboard allows for great gliding, you won't miss a stroke, though the backlight isn't the best. The track pad is highly responsive and feels like that of my macbook pro. You are also getting a lot of power with the Ryzen 9 4900hs making most tasks a breeze even up to editing. The 2060 Max-Q is great for 1080 and 1440p gaming if you decide to connect to an external monitor. The NVME.2 drive speeds everything up, from boot time to shut down, and finally you can't go wrong with 16 gigs of ram. The only caveat is that it may not come perfect right out of the box. Thankfully there is a ton of support on Reddit dedicated to getting your future laptop ready for long gaming sessions with low thermals and setup for wireless office work with long battery life. I do highly recommend fixing any high temp issues right away as you can achieve max settings with many game titles while maintaining sub 70c temps from both CPU and GPU. I would also recommend a laptop cooling pad or stand to maintain proper airflow and to keep the chassis from over heating because the keys higher up on the laptop can get a bit warm. In conclusion, if you want to upgrade but can't get your hands on the new gear that's out there, this laptop can make for a solid interim while you wait to properly set up your new rig while simultaneously functioning as perfect office/school workbook.

I was a little skeptical about purchasing a gaming notebook. I have been a long time desktop PC workstation user/gamer for years. In my past experience with friends gaming notebooks a lot was left wanting. I must say though that this little beast has quite a big punch to it. The NVMe SSD is a god send, and 16GB of ram should be plenty for a gamer. If you're looking to use this as a mobile workstation, it's pretty nice for that too. I use it for software development, video editing, and of course gaming. The quite capable nVidia 2060 MAX-Q is as you'd expect. It runs most games on medium-high quality at the display's native 1080p. The Ryzen CPU is quite powerful for a notebook and is welcome for my video editing needs. Pros: Keyboard is comfortable to type on and has good tactile response. Matte display so you don't blind yourself with glare. Large primary storage to house your games, videos, music, or whatever. Decent battery life as long as you don't have something running the nVidia GPU. Mostly snappy responsiveness (see cons). Plenty of RAM for the intended usage scenarios (see cons). Cons: No wired ethernet port. No home/end/page up/page down/insert keys on the keyboard. Some of the RAM is soldered to the motherboard so only 1 slot for replacement. Windows GUI hitches briefly when clicking some things, like the wifi icon or the hidden tray icon popup. Usually only when on battery power. Hopefully solved soon with an update. Fingerprint sensor is hit and miss. Doesn't always register that I touched it. May have relation to this next con. AC/Battery performance switching seems to be buggy. If the unit has different performance modes set for when on charger power and when on battery. When you put it to sleep while plugged in charging, but wake it up after it has been unplugged it goes into a high power drain. Manually switching the mode doesn't fix it. However, restarting the computer does resolve it. Also waking it up, then unplugging the charger, and putting it back to sleep prevents it. Hopefully an update will fix this issue soon. Most of the cons are easily forgivable or have functional workarounds. The performance switching bug being the most annoying for me personally.

I've had this laptop for over two months. I tend to only want to have one computing solution in my house. Usually that meant having to give up portability for more power. Not the case with this laptop. Pros: Blazing Fast Ryzen Processor. I see a clear path for AMD in the mobile computing space now. Super Light compared to my prior behemoth (ACER Predator 17 inch) 4lbs vs 10lbs . Also light compared to most gaming laptops. Battery life is fantastic. Obviously to get the 8-10 hrs your gonna have to make some adjustments but it is entirely capable. 1060 MAX - Q is plenty of power for most PC games at 1080P. If you are pushing for 60fps on 2k/4k monitors, you are going to want 2070/2080 or go the desktop route. Premium build quality - The body is made of some kind of metal and it just has a more premium feel compared to more plasticky builds of other laptops. This includes ASUS's 15 inch Intel laptops. I had them both side by side and this one just felt way better. Price - I got this on sale. (birthday discount) However I wouldn't hesitate to pay full price for this much power in such a portable and well built package. POTENTIAL CONS: No Thunderbolt 3 - For those that need it, could be deal breaker. The only reason I considered it was for an external Video Card addon, I anticipate 3 being integrated later on, but I needed the upgrade now. No Webcam - Again, not a dealbreaker, but could be for some. Limited expandability - You can add about 24 gigs of ram to this machine, but that is about it. No extra M.2 slots for more internal storage. Must be plugged in to fully utilized the power of the 2060 MAX-Q. I've noticed this with my other gaming laptop as well. Screen reponse time - The screen itself is great to look at (colors etc) however there have been reports of subpar input response times above 10ms. I would mostly expect any serious gamer to be using a dedicated monitor, but it's something to keep in mind if you need to use it for a tournament on the go or are bringing it to a LAN party (do these still happen?) ------------------------------------------------------------------ Anyways, that's all. It's a premium felling laptop with a fast processor and substantial gaming performance for a reasonable price. Hope this review helped.

Alright y'all, this laptop has been pretty amazing since I purchased it a couple of days ago! It is so small but it is the fastest laptop I've ever used, and faster than my gaming desktop that I built at home too. It is incredibly fast. The battery life has been really good (I run it in the power optimized setting, which seems to make it last longer according to reviews, but it also keeps it quiet too, which I appreciate using it all day for work). The keyboard is nice to type on. I miss a number pad a little bit as I've traditionally had one on my laptops and use it often enough for work, but that's been a quick adaptation and the size savings for not having one is nice. The touchpad has been real responsive without miss clicks or anything like that. The 120hz screen seems really nice, however the contrast levels when running off of battery without high brightness do make it a little difficult to read (I also change font scaling to 100% in Windows which does make things smaller but not all applications handle scaling well in my experience and the added real estate is nice). When plugged in and allowing the screen to the max it seems nice though! A couple of drawbacks, which led me to the 4 star instead of 5: * No webcam, and doesn't include the bundled peripherals mentioned on Asus's website as being optionally included with some (https://rog.asus.com/Laptops/ROG-Zephyrus/ROG-Zephyrus-G14-Series/) * Backlighting on the keyboard is inferior to my previous laptop * No thunderbolt connectivity, which means I think it won't work with some of my docks from my previous laptops, but haven't checked them all yet due to traveling There are way more advantages though to this compared to my previous laptops that easily make it worth it. I highly recommend it especially for those serious about getting work done and doing some intense gaming on the side!

I never had a proper gaming PC before. Although a few months after I bough this device the 2021 version came out, I'd still say it brings up gaming up speed with next gen consoles in many ways. The 120hz display needs to be seen in person to tell the smoothness of motion. Playing games such as Ghostrunner or Halo 2 anniversary in full settings (although capped at 1080p) with 120hz is beautiful. This AMD CPU is amazingly capable. Can use computer for daily work or school tasks for little over 10 hours while listening to music. The NVIDIA 2060 mobile GPU is great. Can run games with Ray Tracing on, although not reaching high frame rates when on, but still possible for a cinematic looking gaming experience. The machine feels well built and light. Very solid metal like style. Fans are powerful to keep it running at not burning hot temperatures given the power of its components. Many exhaust grids and holes around and under laptop to help ventilation. Keyboard is more comfortable than all macbook pros' I have owned. They have a good travel amount, and feel satisfyingly clicky. Speakers are surprising, they can get loud, and even when in low settings maintain great definition. Battery lasts for at about 10 hours on my non-gaming usage. Recommend having it plugged in for gaming, so the CPU and GPU can work to their fullest. Though also recommend not having it on your lap for high end gaming as it can get a bit hot. Only complaints are not having a 1440p screen, nor a webcam. Aside from these, I surely say this is the best Windows laptop I have bought, and my best gaming machine so far.

I bought this laptop mainly for gaming and I couldn’t be happier. -120hz -16gb ram -1TB SSD -Great battery life -Light -Ryzen 9 A few “issues” people have with the laptop are non-issues for me. The keyboard can be hard to read at times but I don’t look at the keyboard when I type so I like the aesthetic look a lot. The laptop does get hot whole gaming but that’s with all gaming laptops. Mine stayed at a safe temp during any game I tossed at it. It doesn’t have a webcam but that’s not a flaw, webcams on laptops are useless and look terrible anyway. If you really need a webcam buy a high quality one. For all the specs it has you can’t find this in another product. If you happen to get one with a mechanical problem I suggest replacing it instead of returning for a different laptop, mine is perfect and I couldn’t be happier.

Pros: • Beefy processor rips through media encodes like no ones business. • Graphics card gets you High to Ultra settings on most games with a solid frame-rate to boot. • 120hz panel is buttery smooth. • A beast of a machine in a lightweight and for once not ugly form factor. • Keyboard feels great and has amazing travel for a laptop. • Touchpad feels great. It's a five star machine but that doesn't mean it's perfect. Cons: • No webcam, it couldn't have been that hard or expensive to put a cheap 720p webcam in between the mics. Although I doubt Asus foresaw the pandemic and need for webcams. • While the display runs smoothly, it's not the best looking in terms of color representation, but far from the worst. • Touchpad could be a touch bigger. • More of a Windows laptop problem, but the inability to turn off the auto color and contrast adjustments when on battery power is infuriating that makes working off battery unusable when working in a dark application and needing accurate colors representation. • Something that has always made me hesitant of buying Asus laptops is build quality. While this feels like one of their best built laptops, I worry about things failing down the line. I already have a fan that is making a weird noise. If you can afford the Geek Squad, it likely makes sense on it. • Backlit keyboard is invisible on the white body model. I know that's a lot of cons but they are things that I'm willing to forgive (except the build quality thing) when all the pros for this machine are something that I've wanted out of a laptop for a long time. Next model I would love to see something beefier than a 2060 graphics card to really push this thing to the limits. If everything goes right with this one, I'll be "in line" every year for the new version.

It was a good purchase. Why? The device has a good solid feel in hand. It's not a light device, but it's compact and dense. The audio is loud, with not much distortion at the high end. Track pad is very responsive. The screen is matte, and colorful, and accurate. I want it to be brighter, but that's just me. I think it's bright enough when I need it to be. Just want more. I like that I can charge using USB-C, even though it comes with a barrel plug due to the large power consumption of the 2060 GTX. Speaking of, I've yet to run 3D rendering software on this, but it should be very nice. Can't wait. Consider this... I use this machine to edit and process images and it's effortless. Saves instantly. No problem thanks to the 1TB SSD!!!! But some of that effortlessness does come at a cost, with the fan always running in the background, not loud, but noticeable. It runs all the time, lightly, and you'll know it. Don't love this aspect. And, it does get warm after a short usage, but I'll blame Chrome, since I usually have so many tabs. And probably because I'm always seems to be doing a system update of some sort...what? Another thing I don't love is the keyboard backlighting. It's acceptable. I find that in darkness, it's useful, otherwise, I turn it off since I can see the keys just fine without it. One thing I wish the device has is a 16:10 display. A 16:9 aspect ratio is too narrow to be very useful as a creative device. But I do have a big monitor to connect to when I need to see things better. TL:DR Fan noise is low, but noticeable. Performance is as expected and the reviews are on point Screen should be bigger/taller, but not a deal breaker.

I have only owned this laptop for a little over a month, and I am very happy with it so far. The build quality is top-notch, and it feels like a premium product - no cheap plastic feel to it at all, and it has some weight to it. Pros: - speed - between the Ryzen 9 and an m.2 hard drive - whew lol - battery life - I'm averaging 4-7 hours of *normal* use - this kicks the crap out of any other laptop that I have ever owned. - gpu - nice graphics card with dedicated memory - I can play CoD Warzone at roughly ~90-100 FPS on mostly high settings with zero hiccups. - keyboard - The keyboard feels good! - speakers - the sound is actually pretty good (and loud!) after you run the THX app to enable the features that it has. Doing this increased my sound by 100% easily Cons: - weird clicky noise from one of the fans that comes and goes. I have taken it apart and can't figure it out? - it gets a bit warm when playing games, but not nearly as hot as other machines that i've used! - backlight keyboard is...eh...I turn the lights off, because it's not so great and a little hard to read the keys (white on white don't mix) - RAM - 8GB of RAM that is permanently soldered to the board, while the other 8GB is replaceable... what were they thinking?? You're now limited to 24 or 40GB of RAM, but everyone knows that due to parity, it's bad to run RAM in different sizes. So that kinda sucks! - No webcam - I kinda wish that it had one, because then I wouldn't have to use my external camera for meetings an such

To preface this, I was in DESPERATE need of a new laptop. I was doing tasks on a 2014 model Dell notebook that was screaming to just run chrome. I scored this laptop for $250 off for Black Friday, which is when I recommend grabbing this for a big deal because for $1199 this is a steal for what you get. The Ryzen 9 processor is FAST. The RTX 2060 graphics card RARELY can be found in a laptop around this price point. A 1tb SSD is also a great deal found here, rather than the 500gb SSDs you'd usually get around this price. The keyboard is pretty flat but so is every other laptop's, so serious gamers would find an external mechanical keyboard and mouse a needed addition. there's plenty of useful shortcuts and keys to easily change up settings. The keys are backlit but not as bright as you'd probably like so unless I'm in total darkness I actually turn the backlight off. The screen looks great with a 144hz refresh rate, the only negative is that sometimes when turning on the screen from asleep the brightness flickers for a bit. I can't figure out what the cause is as of this writing, but as long as it's benign then I can overlook it. Overall this is a great laptop that is light, thin, attractive, and powerful enough to do multiple tasks and play some modern games with decent settings. PS I did run a VR benchmark and this laptop is highly capable of running VR.

I've had this laptop for a little over a week now and I love it. Yes it does run hot when running a high demanding game like cyberpunk, but when you see how thin and light this laptop is, it kind of makes sense. It is very light and easy to take around as a daily driver laptop. It runs GTA, Cyberpunk, ARK, and other high demanding games just fine. The design and look of it doesn't scream gaming laptop which is a nice touch. The keyboard backlighting is fine. I've only needed to turn it on when I was in completely dark room, so the black on silver keys look fine with out it. I was torn between building my own desktop or getting this and since finding a decent GPU for under the price of this entire laptop it made my decision really easy. The battery lasts surprisingly long even when gaming. I wish half of the ram wasn't soldered onto the motherboard only leaving the other stick replaceable. Overall in this day and age thanks to crypto miners hording all GPU's driving the prices sky high, grab this laptop and hook it up to a monitor with an external mouse and keyboard and BOOM instant 'desktop' gaming pc. I can't recommend this laptop enough

Great laptop if you want gaming and productivity rolled into one! Pros: - Great for its price - Ryzen 4900hs is very powerful - Nvidia RTX 2060 Max Q is good - Great performance - Good speakers - Good trackpad - Good display - Good keyboard - Good build quality - Very portable for a gaming laptop - Lets you cap battery charge at 60% or 80% to increase battery health - Good battery life Cons: - May require some setup to get the battery life - No webcam - Keyboard backlighting isn't great - Sometimes hear coil whine if backlighting is off Tl;dr Great laptop if you want gaming and productivity rolled into one; Great performance, 8-10+ hours of battery, portable, good build quality, good display, good keyboard, good speakers, good trackpad. Pros outweigh the cons by a lot here; the maybe 1 hour of setup is well worth it, and you can get any cheap webcam for cheap if you need it.

Over the last 5 years I had everything you can think of....Alienware, Razer, Dell Gaming - All with Intel i7 (7x, 8x and 9x). NONE OF THEM COME EVEN CLOSE TO THIS BEAST! Excelent built quality and size. My last gaming laptop were 17" (alienware and dell gaming) and boy they were HEAVY! Way too heavy for the power they had (one was 1080 and the other 1050Ti). Now this thing here is sleek, gorgeous and POWERFUL! This R9 4900HS is a MONSTER! At some point I was streaming twitch, group chat in Discord, CS:GO open and some chrome tabs open LIKE IT WAS NOTHING! The 2060 Max-Q is GOOD (not all that awesome) but it's great for eSports titles. It will also allow you to play some other stuff at High settings... The 1TB nVME that comes with it is INSANELY Fast as well...expect nothing but awesome responsiveness from it. Now to the downsides: There are very few to be hones. Keyboard is NOT RGB (not that I care because anything other than white would look weird in it) and is kinda squishy...it's OK if you are on the run but you should always take another (mechanical) keyboard with you... I only found out that this version does NOT come with the AniMe Backlight lid after it got home lol It would be awesome to have, too bad ASUS only made it into the $2000 version... It does NOT come with a webcam - some like that it doesn't come with one, I find it disturbing...now I have to bring a webcam if I will travel somewhere that I will have to join a meeting or anything like that...it's not the end of the world but come on...we got used to laptops with lame webcams... On the other side, it gives you a fingerprint scanner...meh... Overall....GREATEST PURCHASE OF 2020 (so far). WAY better than i7 10th gen and for some things even better than i9 9th gen!!! 10/10 5/5 666/666 GET ONE!

It amazes me in 2020 the amount of power you can pack into a thin and light notebook package. And make no mistake - this is a thin notebook. My daily driver for the last 6 years (!) has been a Lenovo X1 Carbon. That this laptop delivers twice the punch of my former gaming desktop in a device the same size as that X1 Carbon is astounding. That said, if you're reading reviews on BestBuy, you knew this thing was powerful. So here are some details about the intangibles. Pros * Performance, duh * The chassis feels rock solid * Keyboard is nice * Touchpad is accurate and smooth Neutral * Screen is merely adequate. It's bright enough for indoor use, but an extra 100 nits would go a long way. Colors seem a little blown out as well. * The screen flexes more than the one on my X1 Carbon * It does get toasty while gaming - I saw 80-86C on the CPU during a couple hour session on Red Dead Redemption 2 * Battery life is either amazing or not, depending on if something is hanging up the GPU (see below) Cons * The drivers and thermal management feel a little half baked at the moment, though I trust they'll improve. For example, the fans are *always* running, even at idle, and the dGPU requires some babysitting to make sure some program isn't running in the background and keeping it fired up * No home/end/pgup/pgdn keys. Really? Seems a pretty glaring oversight. Overall I'm pretty happy with my purchase - enough that I'll be putting my old X1 Carbon and gaming desktops up for sale. I hope this will last me another 6 years!

The G14 is an awesome laptop with enough horsepower to game the most demanding games, run VR, smoothly edit videos and photos with no issues. I am a very technically minded user and I like this more simpler keyboard layout and layout of ports on the side of the laptop. It gets hot! Yes, running demanding games like Call of Duty Warzone gets the GPU and CPU up to 90'C, this is perfectly fine for internal hardware and with a laptop cooler you'll only see the temps drop 10 degrees average. The frame is mostly metal and the keyboard area closest to the vents and screen gets hot as its right above the CPU and GPU and battery. The fan can get very loud when running demanding programs, these fans can really push air. Battery life is really good I have had a few issues being that the Keyboard backlight was terrible and inconsistent. With the silver color G14 its difficult to see the letters with the backlight on sometimes. I ended up getting my G14 replaced shortly after discovering this issue is fixed with serial numbers starting with L7. Keyboard feels super nice. Space bar feels much different than other keys with more travel and quick bounce.

I've never been impressed with gaming laptops as it felt like they always sacrificed some level of performance for the form factor. I'm spoiled with a performance desktop at home and have tried to dabble with gaming laptops when I was in school as I needed the portability. This little laptop demonstrates what's possible when you manage to get it right though. I'll attach a picture of Apex Legends to show the amazing quality of the screen. Even though it's 1080p everything is perfectly sharp and honestly a higher resolution would be overkill at this size. The beauty of the setup is that it's easily tossed into my bag to get out the door and I'm holding something that feels similarly sized to a tablet and I'm able to game on it once I hit my destination. You've made a believer out of me Asus!

Love this laptop. It was delivered a little late but with covid19 that is understandable. My only grips are as follows: no page up/down buttons, no ethernet connection, power connection is in a weird spot(on the side in the middle), finger print ID doesnt work all the time, backlit keyboard isnt very bright(i havent found an adjustment for it yet), and the screen could have been better. Love the keyboard/touchpad, its fast, games play great, laptop looks fantastic, awesome price and light weight/compact for a gaming laptop. I wanted a gaming laptop that wasnt huge or gaudy. I needed something small and powerful, this is it!

Coming from the 1060 max-q Razer blade 15. This thing is awesome. I knew, before hand, all of the quirks about this laptop. For me, they are not negatives because I knew going into it what to expect. You can't get mad that you bought a laptop without a webcam when it is clear as day that it doesn't have one. Buy a different laptop if that is a priority. This laptop is exactly what I was looking for - a gaming machine that was ultra-portable. My Razer blade 15 was nice, but this thing makes the Razer product feel heavy and big. The battery life is amazing. I would say close to double what I would get on my blade. As people have stated, the keyboard backlighting is not great. I rarely turn it on. The screen looks great. Trackpad above average. Keyboard took me a second to get used to (coming from the shorter throw on the blade 15), but now that I'm used to it I really enjoy it. The gaming performance is exactly what I expected. I don't play graphically demanding titles, so I'm getting high framerates and smooth gameplay on all of my games. All in all, I think this thing is the new gold standard for portable gaming machines.
