    Beware of cheap Wifi Card

Computer is exceptional, but the wifi card is garbage. Using 50mbps at home and this Computer can barely utilize 3mbps of download speed. Peak being 4.1mbps. Found out most people ran into this problem with the Asus line up, tried to fix it by changing the property values from its set 2.5ghz band to the 5ghz band and it still wont change the download speed. Just returned this for a Nitro 5 Amd Ryzen.

Not enough computer to provide the power needed. On the surface it seems to work well. First it’s 2021 and it doesn’t have a webcam and since you have to plug in a webcam and if you plan on using it gaming or streaming you will need USB ports. This came with 2. NOT ENOUGH. I used a Best Buy powered usb extender but it appeared to create driver issues. Additionally I have an Asus Gaming monitor and when I plugged in the HDMI it doesn’t recogniE it as the same brand and it has less features. The WiFi ipV6 adapter driver this went and disappeared I used it 3 times Not recommended

The Asus Rog Zephyrus G14 14” laptop with a 16gb memory and 512gb on the ssd and i believe you can add another ssd if you want more storage. It is a great laptop for gaming having a consistent frame rate of 60fps in higher end games. its has a 1080p display with nice lights on the key board for playing in the dark. It doesn’t come with a camera so if you want a face cam you’re out of luck, but it does come with a built in mic and honestly get a better mic as soon as you can, since the built in mic is not so good. The graphics card is a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 which is a good graphics card but basic. The laptop has speakers that are pretty decent and great for watching videos and music. The laptop itself is a little heavy but can still be carried around anywhere. The battery life is great. It has 2 usb, hdmi, headphone jack, and usb C. This gaming laptop is very good and powerful also uses windows 10 and a video editing if you are a creator or like making videos.

It seems multiple people experienced the same issue and returned it. My laptop stopped working (frozen) in the middle of using it, and now powering on any more by any means. When pressed power key,The laptop keyboard lit but the screen was black then fan started running at its maximum speed, luckily It happened within return period, and BestBuy exchanged it with another one. Not good experience at all.

First product arrived with defective charging cable. Asus support failed to help saying initially they would send new charger but never did, few weeks later and numerous emails finally received the working charger. The unit is built solidly, feels secure and grippy when holding and lightweight when laughing around. Miss touchscreen but I knew it was not tough. You need separate webcam. The graphics are very good but are taxed when running at full game settings. Heat does not seem to be an issue, when you open the laptop, it creates a lift at the rear to allowing for effective fan cooling, nice. The keyboard backlight is fantastic and travel of the keys is excellent. Great bargain when on sale. Love the color and the speed of the laptop fir everyday browsing and work stuff. Off the chart battery life even when playing games. Fairly rapid charger as well.

1080p is yesterday's resolution, honestly. For this price one should expect 4k and/or a touchscreen. Nevertheless, the unit performs admirable on everyday tasks and the ROG Gaming addons provide customizability as to the performance if you're willing to take on the fan noise. Additionally, setting up Windows left me confused as I was prompted to use my fingerprint to log in, yet no fingerprint reader could be found on the base of the unit. Does it have one or not? Apparently, Windows thinks so but if there is one it's extremely poorly designed into the unit. I also have consistent issues with 2-finger clicking to right click. The lightweight portability and performance of this unit push it from 3 to 4 stars for me, but could easily be seen as a 3-star unit to others.

I want to disclose that I tend to be partial to ASUS laptops. I generally prefer ASUS products over other brands. So what I am about to say shows how disappointed I am with this particular laptop. OVERALL IMPRESSIONS Superb overall construction and look. Very high quality assembly and materials. The keyboard and trackpad did not annoy. I was not blown away by the display nor was I disappointed either. All things considered, this display will work just fine for what it is designed for or as an every day computer., IS THIS REALLY A GAMING LAPTOP? - THE DISAPPOINTMENT I am simply not impressed with this beyond using the laptop for general computing and light graphics work. Perhaps I am a bit jaded because my particular unit experienced a blue screen of death during the first round of windows updates and showed a propensity for not wanting to install programs on the first try. Steam and 3DMark were particularly frustrating to get to install on the first try and I've never had a laptop that I've tested that was slower in installing both. On the second try to get 3DMark to install, I got so frustrated that I gave up for the night and let the computer go while I slept. Apparently this unit is quirky and eventually the program installed but it was not ina reasonable time. PERFORMANCE Well, I'm not sure what I should be getting with this but overall this is disappointing. This new ASUS is slower than my former laptop, a 2019 Ryzen 7 that had comparable ram and had 1660Ti graphics. Overall score with TimeSpy on this new ASUS was a disappointing 3907 whereas the two year old ROG-Z 15 inch got 4165. Graphics score on the new unit was again lower than the 2019 model (3611 compared to 4411). Only on the CPU score did things get better for the new laptop (7301 compared to 3166). From a "feel like" perspective, the computer felt snappy and didn't seem to bog down running 4 hd videos at the same time nor have I found ti to feel slow running 10 firefox browser tabs. I was just surprised that the overall benchmark for gaming was so disappointing. CONCLUSION If you needed a computer that was small and lightweight for overall use, this is a really nice machine. I'm not sure if I was going to use this as a dedicated gamer that I would be happy. If you need something that is mobile, it is not a bad choice. It is just a disappointing unit that has me worried if there are going to be future issues with software being resistant to load or if there is a potential drive issue with this particular unit. I have not had any other blue screens of death on this unit since windows updating so this just might be an isolated example - in other new laptopos I've had, I've not had that happen at all which is what caught my attention. I would recommend to a friend but the caveat must be said that if you aren't concerned with mobility, choose the 15 inch ASUS/ROG units even if they cost more.

Gaming laptops can be hit and miss. Many so called “gaming” laptops miss the mark when compared to a desktop based gaming rig. The need to stuff higher specs into a small footprint can be challenging. The ASUS ROG Zephyrus is a gaming machine that lives up to the title. The AMD Ryzen 7 processor stack up well against an Intel i7 and in many cases beats it as a gaming chip. The GTX 1650, while not the most powerful out there, is a strong contender in this space. Add in the 16GB ram and this checks many of the boxes you would want. Most games I tried ran at a high frame rate. Real power hungry games like MS FS 2020 will run but not at Ultra settings at high frame rate. Overall, for the price, this is a solid gaming laptop that I would recommend.

Bought for my niece to replace her ancient laptop and use for school. It absolutely never occurred to me to verify it had a camera. Carrying a USB camera is crazy. It's been decades since I had to stop checking if a laptop had a camera. Somehow, in 2022, somebody had the grand wisdom to cut it. Even $100 chromebooks have built-in camera.

It's small, but it's the right tool for many jobs. THE GOOD ~ Fast Processor ~ Compact ~ Solid ~ Nice screen ~ GREAT sound ~ Very good graphics ~ Fast SSD drive ~ 16GB RAM ~ Backlit keyboard ~ Quiet ~ Cool THE BAD ~ Power plug placement ~ No ethernet port ~ No selfie camera THE MEH (Could go either way) ~ Weight ~ No ethernet port ~ No camera ~ Screen size (14") OVERALL The first thing that impressed me was the packaging. When you open the box, a portion of it pops up and presses the laptop toward you on an angle, as if proudly displaying your new toy. The machine is a sleek, attractive looking computer anyone would be proud to flip out in a class, coffee house or office. Pulling the computer from the box, I immediately noticed it had some heft to it. It isn't super heavy, but it is solid. I've had numerous laptops and still have some I use. This is probably the most solid and sturdy feeling of any of them. It certainly isn't one of those cheap plastic jobs you get with only 32GB of storage. A 512GB SSD drive is nice. 1TB would have been better, but for most people, it shouldn't be a deal-breaker. I immediately loaded World of Tanks (56GB I think) on here and still have over 400GB of usable space. So, this will absolutely hold multiple games. Game graphics were very good. To be honest, it is quite a switch to go from playing on a 27" 2k monitor to a 14" 1080p. Despite that, everything still looked very good. A GTX1650 graphics card is really a more entry level card, but that didn't hold back my gameplay or detract from the action or landscapes in-game. Playing some YT movies and videos (as well as gaming) I am very impressed with the sound. Most of my laptops have a cheap, tinny sound to them. This laptop--probably because of the materials with which it's made--has some very good sound. Even my wife, who is not tech-minded said, "Wow, that sounds really good." I have insomnia and often get up at 3 or 4am. I'll usually sit outside, drink my coffee and write. With my other go-to laptop, I have to turn some lights on, because the keyboard isn't backlit. Fortunately, this one has backlit keys, so I can sit in the dark silence and work. This is my new go-to for writing, surfing, and reading in the morning. When I went to plug it in for the first time, I was struck by the seemingly odd placement of the power plug. Why anyone would choose to put it in the middle of the side edge is beyond me. Nearly every laptop either has its power in the back or near a back corner on the side. I often have video conferences and was going to use this one to test it out, but then realized there is no camera on it. That was a little disappointing. It isn't like I need the camera all the time, but I've become accustomed to having cameras on laptops. Although I have a good wifi network and fast internet, I grabbed an ethernet cord so I could have the best connection possible while gaming. It was then I realized there isn't an ethernet port. I suppose when you only have so much space *and* you're trying to hit a price point, you have to prioritize features and cut some sometimes. That said, for someone who wants to use this as a portable gaming computer, a work/school laptop, or for watching videos, neither the missing ethernet or camera should be an issue. For a kid who wants to go to a friend's house for a gaming party, this will work just fine. As far as screens go, 14" is kind of small, but it doesn't actually seem that small while gaming, video watching, working or surfing. The bezel is nice and slim. It doesn't take anything from the viewing experience. As for the keys, the touch pad, and left/right buttons, they are all very responsive. I haven't tried using photoshop, illustrator or any graphics programs on this, but I will. I have no doubt it will handle them with ease considering I have used them on far inferior desktops and laptops. I like this laptop a lot. For me, it's the perfect size to open up word and start working on a story or novel. It'll also let me take it to the in-laws' house when we visit so I can game when they start talking too much. LOL. If you're looking for a laptop that is portable and will not be completely obsolete in a year, but also won't break the bank, this is a great option. I think this is a fantastic solution for any parent who wants to get their kid a new laptop for school or college. Just know, if they want to use it for video conferencing or tele-school, they will need an external USB camera. Definitely 5 stars!

Ok so let’s start off with something that isn’t all that important, but it’s still pretty cool. The un boxing. Your device arrives in a very impressive, sturdy little box that literally lifts and presents itself to you as you open it up. Boxes like this make me feel like we are just around the corner of harmonized angelic voices singing beautiful oooohs and aaaahhhs as the box opens up. The first thing I noticed upon removing my laptop was the very firm and sturdy feel it has. The case does not feel paper thin and the hinges are impressive. Let’s charge this sucker up and give it a proper test drive. So what happens next? The Caldor fire. Yeah that big nasty fire that will be remembered for years and is still burning in the southern Tahoe area as I type this. I’m just several miles south west of where the fire started and after the 2nd night with the fire slowing advancing our way we evacuated to a local hotel with 4 cats and a dog. My job is managing my investments and my normal 3 screen office set up was not available. So my fun little gaming laptop had to become my all purpose computer. Armed with nothing but some unstable hotel internet I quickly went to getting my new Asus up and running and managing my assets. I quickly became a fan how the computer lifts up just a bit on the backside as you open the screen. The hinges double as two tiny feet giving a slight but appreciated tilt to the keyboard. First thing I did of course was getting my security software downloaded and installed. Once this was safely up and running I got my last pass, emails and 9 brokerage accounts I manage all set up and ready to rock. During this process I really became a fan of the keyboard. Generally speaking I’m a tactile mechanical keyboard kind of guy. But this keyboard grew on me quickly. Sharing a single room with a sometimes sleeping girlfriend made me appreciate an ultra quiet keyboard. Super responsive and pleasant feeling, it more than gets the job done. After 2 nights in the hotel and our area still under a yellow (warning) evacuation we decided to head back home. More resources were on site and felt any growth towards our direction would be very slow and met with much fire fighting resistance. By this time I had really come to appreciate my new little powerhouse. My main desktop PC was still evacuated to a friend’s garage along with many of my most beloved and valuable possessions. It was time to see everything this machine was capable of. I certainly missed my traditional set up for investing as there is no substitute for 3 large screens to track everything I like to follow. But as far as being able to multitask and handle every chore I threw at it, the Asus excelled. But now it was time to start installing some games. I had better internet and some more sleep. I tried a little bit of everything. 4X, MMORPGs, SIMs and Sports and they have all been handled beautifully by my new little buddy. High frame rates, beautiful display, decent speakers and an excellent battery life all combine to make this one heck of a powerful computer. I do wish the speakers could go a little louder. The limited volume combined with some slightly loud fans can be a bit annoying. They do sound pretty good though for a laptop. But when I’m doing serious gaming I always use headphones, so that minor issue is pretty much a non issue for me. The 512GB SSD drive is awesomely fast and the keyboard is backlit, allowing me to work with the lights out which was again much appreciated while being stuck in that hotel room. The placement of the power cord is not the best, but that’s a pretty minor complaint. Having now spent dozens of hours doing all sorts of work and gaming I have come to be a huge fan of the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14. Powerful yet small I have really come to appreciate having all this capability is a compact portable frame. Never before in my life was being portable such an important feature. I guess you could say the timing on this computer coming into my life was just about perfect. I’ll always associate it with the incredible stress and anxiety the last couple weeks produced. At the same time however, I’ll always be grateful that it showed up in my life when it did. It gave me a feeling that despite the very real possibility my house could of burned down it allowed me to keep a feeling of maintaining control with everything else. All in all it I’d say this computer is set at a fair price for what it can accomplish. But that feeling of staying connected and in control of the rest of my world was priceless. If they were looking for a powerful, yet compact gaming laptop at a reasonable price, I would absolutely recommend this to a friend. And a special shout of love and appreciation to the 3k plus brave men and women who are still fighting this Caldor beast of a fire and to all the firefighters all over the world. You are much appreciated!

    True gaming on the go

True gaming on the go First note that always comes up with many gaming systems. There is not a dedicated Display Port. It is through one of the two USB-C ports, but it is hardwired directly to the GPU when connected. That's a huge plus, and wish more systems would take note to this small oversight. Ok, now that we got that out of the way... I have two gaming laptops that are connected up to my main display and always ready to go. Being that I have them all wired up, removing and packing them up for trips, etc. can be rather tedious. This mighty mini fills that gap. So, to be clear, this isn't the best for outputting to large monitors for performance and contrary to popular belief, the 1650 does not support DLSS (from all I've tried). But, using Nvidia's recommended settings for the game's I've tried, I was able to get very satisfactory results. And on a screen this size, pushing out varied Ultra settings at 55-60 FPS, it's not needed and not noticed. The games I used for testing were GTA V and Battlefield V. Both, with Nvidia's recommendations, ran incredibly smooth and consistently hit the max frame rate this little gem will allow. So, with cloud syncs rolling, I can stay in the game on the go without missing a beat. Now, some details. The screen is a sharp and crisp ISP. It's full 1080P with a 60hz framerate. That may seem dated, but on a 14" screen, these settings work great. Keys are very responsive. Aura lighting is there, but there is an option for just a standard white backlight. I appreciate the option. The battery. This is really where this system falls into a class of it's own. If you crank up the setting, obviously you're looking at 3-4 hours, but if you are modest in usage, this can keep up with your average mid-range work laptop. That's great. Gaming laptops usually eat up the batteries no matter what you do. This system can truly double up as a two in one for gaming and productivity on the go. A true all-in-one system. That's a standout feature. Speakers have a nice sound to them. You can definitely still get it in if you forget your headphones. Downsides. The finger print reader is sporadic in functionality. It works about 70% of the time. There is no camera, at all. Rather odd as it's such a standard feature and this system could easily be a work or streaming companion. That means I need to buy another peripheral. Not my preference. Lastly, the power input slot is oddly placed on the left side in the center. If on a desk, the cable could end up blocking the fan and hinder some ideal set-ups on your desk. So, I do like this system for portability and in-between sessions when my main rig isn't available, and I would definitely recommend it. It's a newer idea of having a everyday laptop that can kick out decent midrange gaming.

Laptop doesn't feel too big or too small. Battery life while gaming is good. Love the Ryzen chip. doesn't feel underpowered with anything I've been throwing at it (CSGO, COD, CIV, Etc.)

Don’t let the size fool you. Coming in at 14 inches this little sleeper packs a powerful punch. With a 512 GB SSD, startup times, copy and prying large files is a breeze due to the speed of the drive. 512 GB does seem a bit low on given today’s storage demanding Video Games take up a nice chunk of space on your hard drive. With 16 GB of RAM, you can handle some of the most demanding programs out there with relative ease. The laptop is light and a bit over 3 pounds so it’s very sleek and portable. Most laptops nowadays seem to have adapted a very conservative look as opposed to the RGB lit up counterparts that were released way earlier into PC gaming development. I like how simple it is because I travel to coffee shops a lot and I hate bringing attention to myself as I tend to leave my bag unattended while I order as many of most likely do. So that’s a bonus in my opinion. I've always prefered the design of a desktop keyboard. Why? Well due to the fact that most gaming keyboards, from my experience, have a random yet useful button layout that prove to be important during gameplay and most mundane day to day tasks. This is also something that a lot of laptops lack. Practicality is so imortant when your sole focus needs to be on securing the payload but you hear your hot pockets going off. Boom, Keys are right there. A huge bonus because I hate scrambling to the FN button then to the volume etc. The LCD Display is ok I’m used to a higher frame rate but it gets the job done. The bezel opens up smoothly but all in all it’s a great computer. During gameplay I experience no tearing and again, relatively smooth video games but I threw more demanding games like Skyrim, Overwatch, The Witcher 3 on Epic settings and there was some tearing as expected. In conclusion, I’d recommend this laptop to anyone wanting to go to school and still have some downtime to entertain yourself. A great “noob” (new gamer) laptop if you’re actually serious about playing. The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 did heat up a bit during gameplay, again as expected, and the fan started to cool it down. Not a big deal but all things people should know when buying a new laptop. A great purchase for a great time!

As someone who is not so young anymore but still loves to play games, this is what a gaming laptop should be. 1) Compact – sized right that’s easy to carry everywhere 2) Design is classy—it does not scream “I game all day” in it’s form and finish 3) Powerful and FAST – I can play Warframe at 60FPS in full resolution settings without drops (I probably can run it faster but the game does not allow for more than 60FPS). Fortnite runs on full unlimited frames without stutter. Roblox and mobile-enabled games run smooth as butter. Even my Stadia games, which are more server-latency-dependent games run great. At 512GB storage space, it’s more than enough for the games that I play. The combination of WiFi 6, 4GB of VRAM and 16GB of RAM make it more than enough for me to keep going. The display is nice and bright even at just 60hz. The sound is nothing super great but I wear a headset most of the time anyway. The keyboard has this soft feel to the touch and is spaced perfectly. Plus Asus has this software that helps me monitor my machine performance and settings. The ports are the usual—USB-Cs, a couple of USB-As for my controller jack, an HDMI and still has a headset jack. All these make it just the perfect machine to play games. I know there are more powerful machines out there with crazier video cards or processors, but who needs those way more expensive PCs if this can run the intense games I play? This set up makes this machine priced perfectly for my needs. Asus has made gaming more available to regular guys like me who will not spend a lot just to get decent specs for playing games. I love it and recommend it a lot!

This laptop runs smooth and really keeps up with my demands. I run autocad and game on it as well. A few years old and still lives up to its name!
