Work and Play Anytime of the Day

The laptop looks and feels amazing. Has the "gamer" aesthetic without being too obvious. This being the Holographic Gray model, it does not have the AniMe feature where you can have pixel art/pixel animations on the lid of the device. The GTX1650 and Ryzen7 5800HS and 16GB (24GB max with upgrade, 8GB soldered) RAM are great for 1080p gaming and will be comfy up to high settings. Your millage will vary depending on the games you play on the device, but it should noted that these aren't enthusiast grade specs and expectations on the performance should be reasonable. The battery life on this device is really good, it was able to last 7 1/2 hours with video streaming and 4-5 hours when gaming. The control that the Armoury Crate program gives help so much in allowing you to squeeze every bit of that battery out. Keyboard has a white (non-RGB) backlight and has pretty good travel for a small profile laptop. It also sports dedicated volume control, and has quick access to fan speed and ROG Aura RGB via Fn + F5 and F4 respectively. The fans are audible, but not loud by any means. Then again this part of the laptop depends on the person and what they are comparing it to; since I'm comparing this to my old ASUS GL502VT, this laptop's fans are much much quieter. Speakers are loud (2 top, 2 bottom). No distortions on higher volume levels, can't comment much on audio quality since I'm no audiophile. Overall this laptop is a well balanced device that offers good performance in a premium small and sleek form factor that can switch between professional and gamer in any environment. PS. The only issue gripe I have with the device is that when you do a clean install on the device, it will not install any WLAN (wifi) driver on the laptop. Meaning that you need to have it plugged up via ethernet to get those drivers downloaded and installed; and since there is no ethernet port on the laptop, you need a USB to Ethernet dongle. Also, there are also cases where some units will require changes done to the BIOS for it to finally work.

Great Battery, Good Gaming, Design Frame Concerns

I was looking for a nice portable gaming computer with great battery life and decided to go with the smaller screen Asus. Screen: 60hz 14" Screen is bright and beautiful! However I notice playing videos or gaming its not as smooth with the 60hz refresh rate. Since I have always used the 144hz screens I notice the difference. The good news is with this small screen battery lasts for some time when playing high quality video or games. Keyboard: The keyboard is made well and very responsive. I miss a num keypad with the keyboard however with the smaller size I understand. They did a good job at trying to space the keyboard with the length of the screen for larger hands. Hardware: NOT a fan of how the laptop casing is setup! It is set up to shift the weight onto the laptop screen latches. It makes the bottom of the laptop float as weight is now shifted and not along the bottom evenly. I can see this wearing down, causing warping and/or laptop screen issues. So far no issues however very concern over long term usage. Otherwise it has some weight to it but is small so feels like the casing can withstand average transportation. I still recommend to use a sleeve when transporting the laptop. Overall the ventilation works great after hours of heavy usage and never got too hot for my lap. The speaker positions are awesome, right in the front on both sides below the keyboard. You can hear everything clearly and loudly. The touch pad which also was very responsive along with the power button being a finger reader. Gaming: I really enjoyed playing games on this laptop. I tested out FPS, RTS, RPG, MMO's and Emulators. This laptop comes with bundled software that tries to optimize graphic settings and its does a pretty good job. I would go in the game settings afterwards to find most games were able to play at max or very high settings with a smooth unlocked frame rate. Unfortunately as mentioned before with the 60hz I do notice the limitations. Battery: Great battery life, using it with good battery settings it can last for some time. Especially if you have it set to highest battery save mode. This should allow multiple business meetings without the worry of having to carry the power brick. Overall this is a nice gaming laptop however extremely concerned with the frame design. Since its very new time will tell if those latches and elevating the bottom of the laptop will cause issues. Since laptop screen is small at 60hz it provides great battery life for gaming and business / work use, (unless you use the num keypad)

Good battery life, with plenty of power from the Ryzen 7 processor, and the 1650 can still play most games well enough. (Not recommended for the latest AAA games though!) I do wish the display got brighter and the touchpad could be larger.

Great laptop overall. Its got a small form factor which is perfect for carrying to college. Keyboard is nice to type on, screen is bright, good selection of ports. If you need something portable and want to be able to play some light games this is a good choice. Runs more demanding games at low-medium settings so if you want something that's a graphics power house, better to go with the 3060 model or a different gaming laptop altogether. While it is technically a "gaming" laptop it is on the weaker side. But at this price point there really isn't any competition for this form factor, i.e a thin and light 14" laptop with a very powerful CPU, decent amount of RAM and storage and upgradability. I'm studying computer science and this works perfectly for me since I need to be able to carry it to and from school pretty frequently and I barely feel the weight in my backpack. Battery life is amazing too, I don't even need to carry my charger around. Only complaints would be that the fan noise is annoying. I guess it's normal for a gaming laptop but unless its idle, the fan is always running even when I'm just browsing or watching youtube videos. Luckily there are different power modes and I have it set to silent for day to day stuff, not sure how this would affect the laptop in the long run. Also I think it would have been great if this model was offered with a 1660ti instead of a 1650. The 1650 feels a little underwhelming but it doesn't really bother me since I'm not doing anything graphics intensive most of the time. The graphics card in this case is more of a nice to have rather than a must have. If you want something that'd give you better gaming performance, there are plenty of other options at this price point with better GPU's but those will typically be 15" laptops and bulkier than what I need so this works great.

As a 30 year IT working on dual masters degree and editing 30 minute videos each week, I needed something powerful, flexible, and relatively cheap (sub $1000). This checked all the boxes. While it lacks a built in camera, a built in 720p would have been a sore point, so in my opinion, not camera is better than trash that becomes another point of failure. I had considered an i5 system by a different company, but what I initially came to purchase had a few hidden shortcoming. For $50 more this checked all the boxes and no gotcha surprises. One month out and no regrets.

Good laptop overall. Had it for about a month now and works great. Although one thing to note is when playing one of my video games (D2R) it does get fairly hot. I’m afraid it may not last long but we will see. It’s very fast and does all the functions I need. Small and portable.

This is probably the most powerful laptop at this price point. Ryzen 7 5800HS is super fast, 16GB Ram is sufficient, and GTX 1650 has amazing performance for most of the games. However, the unit I received has a slightly warped display (lid). It is noticeable only when I push down the lid while the lid is closed. My unit also has a coil whine problem. When the keyboard backlight is off or low brightness, I can hear a high-pitched whining from the upper keyboard area. Whining stops when I turn the backlight brightness all the way up. There is also a short rattling noise when the fans kick in, but it's gone while the fans are running. I'd recommend this product, but you should look for problems that you might find when you receive yours. Zephyrus G14 and G15 are known for these and other little issues especially quality control issues. I don't think any computer should have these types of problems at this price range.

It has been close to a year now that I have been using this as my daily driver. The performance has been top notch. I mostly run VDI and could based operations and the ram has been able to handle the VDIs pretty well without lags. I have used it for gaming and building games and it does a pretty good job of holding up even when pushed hard. I would recommend it.

When I initially opened this laptop I was blown away. The marketing department really put some time into the design and making sure the customer was impressed immediately. The retail box has a neat little "pop up" feature that was pretty impressive. Once I booted up the laptop I was still impressed too. Although the screen is only 14" the 16GB of ram really compensated for the small(er) screen. I use this laptop in my spare bedroom as a work or gaming laptop and it is really holding up well. The keys are very soft of the hands, even though they are a little compacts. The processing is up to par with what I would expect from a leading brand's gaming series laptop too. The box even had a couple of those little camera blocking stickers too. I would like to see laptop companies start to include a small, practical carrying case for customers to use as a carrying case. That would be a nice touch. All in all due to its superior processing speed and other stock specs I would highly recommend this laptop to anyhow who is the market for a gaming set up that is on the go!

Runs smoothly for day-to-day things. Comes with a program that helps control the performance of CPU, GPU, and fans so if you can choose between the best gaming experience or having a quiet fan but a warm keyboard. The computer itself is very light and good for being on the go. Only 2 USB ports and no webcam can make things a bit difficult without accessories though. Very good for what I bought it for which was casual games and school.

I have been using this pc for my engineering classes for a year and I have not had any problems. I have been able to use several engineering programs at the same time and there is no problem running them, the combination of ram memory and the NVIDIA processor make this pc a very powerful engineering tool.

Very Very light and portable laptop, but it produce lot of heat. Battery life is nice. 11~12 hours on light usage. I guess it knows how to minimize gpu usage. I love silent mode. It's the primary reason I purchased this laptop. Even though it gets hot faster compared to other laptops, it still can run on silent on light task with no fan spinning. Some Asus ROG requires that you open the laptop screen to exhaust hot air. This one doesn't. You can keep it closed and connect external monitor. ssd uses pcie gen3. You cannot add 2nd ssd. One ram is soldered. Only 2nd ram can be upgraded. ...and it is a good bookholder...

Great laptop. The ryzen chips are powerful and the GTX1650 is good enough for what I need it for. I think something like the razer blade 14 is more powerful, but way more expensive. This hits the balance of price and performance I was looking for.

Excellent little laptop. AMD's Ryzen chips are stupid fast and the Ryzen 7 in this unit is no exception - bootup takes place in mere seconds, programs open in a snap and data transfer doesn't even leave me enough time to check my phone. Thanks to the WiFi 6 standard on board, downloads take no time at all, even over my phone's hotspot connection (and this is in an area with DISMAL reception, mind you). The build quality is superb, thermals are well-managed and Armoury Crate (ASUS' hardware management program) is pretty useful. I'm primarily a console gamer (yeah yeah, PC master race, yadda yadda) but enjoy gaming on the go - the GTX 1650 is up to the task. If you want something more powerful, jump to the $1500 RTX 3060 model. But for most games on medium to high settings, the 1650 will suffice. The lid does not come equipped with the flashy "AniMe Matrix" LED feature - that'll be the MUCH more expensive models, and chances are you won't find those at brick-and-mortar. But the drilled holes in the lid do contain light-reflecting layers that put on quite a show in the right light. I highly recommend this laptop, especially at it's current price point.

Iv had this laptop for a little over a year and Iv loved it, it’s offered very good functionality as a daily computer as well as a gaming/vr gaming computer. It’s never given me any issues when it’s comes to paying pretty much any game available. You won’t be playing every game on ultra setting but cost to performance it’s great. I do keep it plugged in most of the times but while gaming it may drain the battery quicker then as if used for a day to day computer but I feel if you’re gaming your more then likely at home most of the time!
