This laptop is a beast in a sleek, portable body. The OLED screen is absolutely gorgeous—vibrant, sharp, and smooth at 120Hz. It handles AAA games and multitasking like a champ. Whether you’re gaming or creating content, this machine does not disappoint. Plus, it just looks cool.

Starting caveat: 16gb non-upgradable RAM should be your primary concern with this model. Having said that, I got it because my workload isn’t huge and on sale this model was a great value (16gb ram/1tb SSD/4060 8gb vram @90watts/near MacBook level build/ OLED 120Hz display). So far it hasn’t let me down other than the usual Windows related glitches. The laptop will get toasty but never too loud. The next higher tier (32gb ram) has a 4070 with same vram and wattage for $400 more, so it doesn’t seem like a good deal.

I am really enjoying this laptop. It does everything I ask of it without breaking a sweat. It’s fast. The 3k screen is gorgeous. The fans are louder at full speed but it is a gaming laptop after all. Put on some headphones or buds and you’ll be set.

I recently purchased the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 (2024) model, and I couldn't be more impressed. Right out of the box, this laptop feels premium—lightweight, solid build, and the 14" 3K OLED display is absolutely stunning. The 120Hz refresh rate makes everything from gaming to everyday browsing incredibly smooth, and the colors are vibrant with deep blacks, perfect for both gaming and media consumption. Performance-wise, the Ryzen 9 8945HS paired with the RTX 4060 handles AAA titles at high settings with ease, and the thermals stay in check even during long sessions. Load times are nearly instant thanks to the 1TB SSD, and the 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM handles multitasking without any hiccups. Despite being so powerful, it's surprisingly quiet under normal use and only ramps up under heavy load.

This is a great laptop. I wanted something light but powerful and with graphics speed sufficient to do some gaming with my sons, and it passes both tests. Sufficient ports to use two external screens and I appreciate the 1 TB SSD. It gets a little warm while gaming so I purchased an inexpensive cooling platfform. Very satisfied

I love my laptop very much. I have been using it since I got in October 2024. So far everything this is good. The best part I love about my laptop is its size which is perfect for me G14 btw. Also software wise running excellent. And I am an engineering student so iykyk there are software like AutoCAD civil3D revit solid works which I use daily is running really good. The reason I got this laptop and which is valid for all my heavy works. I like the whitish color looks super premium as well it is. I will 100% recommend this for students like me with heavy software where MacBooks are not even an option.

Great performance and graphics. Does get hot so if you’re not gaming best to run it under low performance mode. Not exactly a laptop that you can put in your lap and watch a movie. Lightweight for its class

I've used a great many gaming laptops over the years and the one thing that's always stood out is how "gamer" they look. I'm generally one that prefers a toned down, but pleasing aesthetic. Like a certain PC case that was released in the last year that has actual wooden slats on the front. Nothing garish or flashy, just form over function. The Zephyrus bucks that trend with this G14. There is still a feeling of "gamerishness" to it, but it does so minmally. The only real standout that screams this would be the LED bar on the top of the Lid. It's kind of a love it or hate thing. I don't mind it, but it can definitely be distracting and you have the lid closed. When I see it flash I have to remind myself it's normal. You can set patterns to it, but it's limited in what it can do. It's only white LED's so there's no customizing it. I would have liked to change this, or at the very least, sync it with keyboard backlighting. The biggest thing here is obviously the screen. With it being an OLED, it looks absolutely fantastic. According to Windows HDR Calibration, it looks to clock in around 630 Nits which honestly is pretty bright, given that OLED's aren't well known for their luminence. This display is quite incredible. It's a real feast for the eyes, especially when you're playing something like CyberPunk and you've got HDR and RayTracing on and it's nighttime out. The lighting and colors just look incredible. Performance wise, for the small package, this sure packs a wallop. I do find it interesting that we've got a 3k screen, 2880x1800 though it does run at a great 120hz. Personally, at 14" I don't find it feasible to have a display over 1080p or at the most 1440p as you can't tell the difference without really close scrutiny. This resolution doesn't do you any favors in very modern titles like the aforementioned CyberPunk. This game is designed to bring everything to it's knees. Playing at it's native resolution with the Ultra Preset is unwise. You most certainly need DLSS here. My advice would be to bump the resolution down to 1920x1200 or 1920x1080. Doing so I was able to run the game on the RT Ultra preset and it was staying above 70 FPS which is great for this game. At Native I was only seeing around 20-30 FPS without RT. Enabling DLSS of course helps greatly. The cooling can get pretty loud. It's the biggest issue when going from a larger system to something so much more compact. When you're not gaming, it's super quiet. When you're gaming though, in the Performance mode it's tolerable, the Turbo setting however, you're sacrificing noise for performance and it's loud. You're going to want to have some headphones for when you're in that mode. I did notice a little more FPS in 2077 in Turbo mode though, I think it was around 5%. Overall it's really nice laptop, definitely fantastic for carrying around due to it's very slim and lightweight profile. It's sleek looking, not off-putting like many gaming laptops. ASUS really nailed it with the looks. If you're looking for something that has enough grunt to play most modern titles, with a few visual compromises to get more than acceptable performance, the Zephyrus will absolutely fit the bill.

Runs very hot. I've always contemplated the reason for calling gold and carry compress being called laptops as they cannot function easily on ones lap and even if you can type as lightly aa a mouse the laptop will burn you and there is not enough air circulation on any lap to cool them even with fans that push air out at the fold as well as under the keyboard that draws air from below and pushes it out the sides. I purchased this gaming laptop for the graphics and speed because the'standard' graphics for work computers are shared and videos are dull and lag or chop on movies. I have eyesight problems and need competent graphics to adjust for or eyesight without paying for a built-for-me laptop of 5k. Televisions are so much less however they don't fit a bedside feeding table. Were I rich is have a 6k television that could lower from the ceiling at the foot of my bed but I'm not rich. Social Security pays my bills and feeds me and I'm one of the lucky people who paid 30 years of the tax just before i couldn't pay more due to chronic and some catastrophic illness(es). I would give the ROG 5 stars were it or any laptop could run without burning ones lap and could have disabled more of what makes it a gamers laptop (too much bells and whistles) OEM and software unnecessary toward my needs. I do use accounting and tax software and calenders with 5 separate email accts for different accounting, apps purchased and banking along with Microsoft 365. None of this requires excellent graphics and sound but I've ignored somewhat the interruptions of its bells and whistles. I've day I'll call geek squad and see if i can get a faster way to disable these things without having to research what i must keep running and what i can truly shut off.

I am in love with this gaming laptop! Love at first sight, matter of fact. This ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 14" OLED 3K Gaming Laptop with AMD Ryzen 9 16GB LPDDR5X 1TB SSD just looks awesome! Couple that with how well this laptop performs, and I find myself pleased beyond measure. It's modern and stylish in appearance. There's even the Zephyrus name along the back hinge. The platinum white color is super attractive to me; a distinct contrast to the usual basic black chassis found on most computers these days. But (among other things) it's the OLED display that really shines. Bright, crisp, clear, 'true-to-life' visuals that make immersing myself in a variety of gaming environments all that more enjoyable. The web camera is what one would expect, yet appears to look better most likely because of the aforementioned amazing display. Often, on-board audio speakers tend to be severely lacking. Not so here. You can truly hear the Dolby Atmos difference. And the placement of the main speakers along each side of the keyboard, works well in my opinion. Another positive was the thankful absence of bloatware. I do, however, appreciate having MyASUS, the NVIDIA GeForce Experience, and AMD's software handily available so as to easily keep track of the laptop's performance, install drivers, and do necessary system updates. This ASUS ROG Zephyrus uses Armoury Crate software, as well. At first, it seemed a bit overwhelming. There's just so much in there to help customize your gaming experience. Monitor CPU/GPU stats, memory and storage, adjust game audio and visual settings, etc. I've yet to seriously spend time playing around with the Aura Sync 'in-game' lighting effects, but I'm intrigued by its possibilities. Basic (backlit) keyboard lighting colors and patterns can be changed in the computer's settings. But the super cool Slash lighting - that unique lighted strip along the surface of the lid - is customizable via Armoury Crate; and while limited, it's still fun to play around with the animation pattern, direction, and sound effect. There are the usual ports along each side of the laptop, though as what's become the norm, the bare minimum. Partly, I'd say, because a great many gaming accessories and peripherals are able to be connected via Bluetooth, rather than corded. Of course, you are able to purchase and plug-in an adapter to gain additonal ports, if you so choose. Venting for air flow underneath the laptop, seems to be adequate. But what about performance? Well, my standard operating procedure when setting up a new gaming computer is running a benchmark test. This Zephyrus scored 'Very High.' Next, I download and install my favorite games for the all-important real performance test. Guild Wars 2, WoW, Diablo IV, and Dead by Daylight. Most of my settings were medium to high, but for better playability, I did switch off some of the lesser graphical environmental effects which didn't affect my gameplay in the slightest. No stuttering, blurry textures, and very little if any lag during the most intense battle sequences. Now, while the 14" size is just right for me, do keep that in mind when considering this ASUS ROG Zephyrus as a choice for your new gaming laptop. The GeForce RTX 4060, while a solid graphics card, is not the latest and greatest currently out there. However, based on my own personal experience, I've become a big fan of AMD Ryzen processors. The 16GB RAM and 1 TB SSD are both good enough for my gaming needs. Other features worth noting is the geometrically shaped power button, and the two rubberized "feet" on the underside of the laptop's chassis. These types of minor design things I take notice of, and to me, shows a special attention to detail. Oh also, as an alternative to signing in via your security PIN, I'm really happy there is the option to set up facial recognition. Bottom line - I'm legitimately impressed with this ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 Gaming Laptop. It's helped me up my game, and is sure to remain a staple of my gaming arsenal for a good long time.

I am tired of the issues!! CRASHING & OVERHEATING

    Posted .

I have had this laptop for less than 2 years. I love the design of this laptop, it’s so clean and the OLED display is amazing. But I have had so many issues with it, it is beyond enough. I have taken it to the Best Buy service center for repair 4 DIFFERENT TIMES! It began repeatedly giving me a blue error message screen, “your device ran into a problem and needs to restart”, which it would then black screen and crash to then reboot to the logo screen, get stuck and make the startup “woosh” sound about 10 times, and crash again on a spree for over 30 minutes. That was the first time I took it to get repaired. It continued to do it and I took it for a second repair. And a third repair. The laptop itself was entirely factory reset each time, only to then continue its issues. It was fine for a couple months. Then it started crashing again. And now it has begun overheating from just being On for an hour… and, you guessed it, crashing and restarting from overheating. The cherry on top is that my SCREEN BRIGHTNESS has stopped working! I am good with computers. The dial on the display settings and the Function keys will move like they are working, but the brightness is stuck at about 60% where it’s irritably too dim in daylight and too bright in dark rooms. I don’t know why this has so many issues!! Please, save yourself the headache and DO NOT GET THIS LAPTOP! THERE ARE SO MANY BETTER OPTIONS WHO WILL NOT DO THIS TO YOU!

Here are my pros and cons of this laptop. I will not be adding detail that you can readily find e.g. the laptop has good performance playing mostly every game. Pros: The main competitor of this laptop is razer's 14 inch laptop. This laptop is less expensive than the razer. One could argue that razer has a 240hz monitor while the asus g14 does not. However, I find that 240hz monitor (or higher hz) are for intense fps games like counter strike 2 for example. I would not play these intense fps games on a laptop to begin with rather a gaming pc, so not have 240hz did not really affect me since I just played more casual games. Thus, I think Asus's strategy for just sticking to 120hz oled was a good move. Cons: I don't know if this is a window's issue or my laptop. Sometimes when my laptop is asleep, I will press my track pad or keyboard and it will not turn on. I will have to press the power button(I know for certain my laptop is not shutdown). The trackpad is ok. My older laptop was the m1 mac book air and the track pad on that laptop felt much better. Conclusion: I am glad I picked this over the razer blade 14 since it was less expensive, and I think the disadvantages the asus g14 had did not really impact me that much. So far it is a great hybrid laptop for doing schoolwork and playing games(hybrid in the sense that it's not bulky like many other gaming laptops).

I’ve had the laptop for two weeks-so far satisfied. Bought the laptop for gaming. Playing recently Dream Light Valley. The graphics are good. Keyboard has a nice feeling. Size is excellent. It runs on the hot side with all fans running. Resolved that issue with purchasing a cooling fan for it to sit on while gaming. My only other concern is that the 16g is welded in and can’t be upgraded to 32g or repaired. It would be chesper to buy a new laptop.

Great power for the price and a sleek design. It's elegant and low-key enough to take to job meetings, but powerful enough to play modern games with a great refresh rate, and the AMOLED screen looks fantastic for gaming. It also works great for Adobe software (Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.) The only drawbacks I can find is that it runs hot, and the keyboard near the screen gets so hot it can literally burn you. The memory modules are hard soldered in so expanding the DRAM capacity is out of the question. And the 16GB DRAM model does sometimes lag out when trying to run a game and do other things. Takeaway: Big power for a good price, but I would suggest spending a bit more to get the 32GB DRAM model if you can.

I got this laptop open box with a pretty heft discount. Even without the discount this laptop would be worth it, and I’ve tried many gaming laptops. This laptop literally runs smoother than my pc. The screen is so good, it makes you never want to use a non OLED screen again. Speakers are loud enough, not anything crazy but good overall. Keyboard is customizable and light up. The design is so sleek, probably the main reason I got the laptop. And the specs on this laptop are amazing. The gou and cpu are really good, and 1TB of storage is plenty, and I play a lot of games. Sure the ram is only 16 GB, but all my games run at medium-high graphics with 60+ frames when plugged in. That includes Black Myth Wukong, which is one of the most demanding games I’ve ever played. When unplugged, expect to turn your graphics down, and expect only 2 hours of battery life. Also be super careful with the hinges bc it feels super fragile and ive heard that asus laptops have bad hinges. The material of the laptop also feels like plastic, i’m not too sure. I assume you have to treat this laptop with a lot of care. Other than that, expect to get your moneys worth.
