Do your research

I wasnt even pushing this laptop to its limits. I was only using it for school work and lost a huge project I was working on for one of my classes. The last Dell I bought was bad, but this is the worst laptop I’ve ever owned. I will never buy another Asus and I recommend you do your research and avoid them at all costs.

We certainly understand your disappointment with this laptop and the inconvenience this may have caused if the motherboard died or this laptop will no longer boot up in less than three months of usage. ASUS is an ISO certified company, as a result, all products go into a strict quality manufacturing standard. All ASUS products undergo intensive quality control testing and inspections that ensure each one is trouble-free, and are built to last. If the laptop will not boot up or it's just black screen suddenly, do the following. Try to do a power cycle by pressing and holding down the power button to shut it down completely, then power on. If it powers on but stays on black screen after at least 10 minutes, repeat the power cycle process again. If the laptop is applying updates in the System Registry, it will black screen temporarily until the update is applied successfully. Additionally, try to disconnect the power cable and let the unit drain for 24 hours to clear the memory. This will reset the hardware to default settings. After doing this, please reconnect your AC adapter, do not power on the laptop until the battery is charged. If problem persists after performing these steps, we recommend you send the product in for service to determine if this is a hardware issue so this may be resolved immediately. Compact Powerhouse

My initial impressions were regarding size. It’s a lot thinner and lighter than I was expecting! Next I noticed chassis rigidity. Raise the display with one finger in the center or from either corner and it stays flat. Pick up the laptop from an edge or corner with one hand and it stays flat. Grip it with two hands and give it a gentle twist. There is zero flex. This thing feels solid as a rock. A little digging online reveals that the chassis is CNC-machined from aluminum; I really appreciate the fit and finish derived from precision machining. I was impressed before I even plugged it in. There is a light strip that runs diagonally across the rear of the display lid. It is called Slash Lighting. It can be personalized and has several preset patterns or (my personal favorite) can be animated to pulse in sync with audio. It’s a very cool effect. Gaming on the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 is a pleasure. The customizable RGB backlit keyboard is very comfortable with a satisfying touch and depth of keystroke. There is ample area below the keyboard for a large touchpad and room to rest my palms. I had the opportunity to evaluate gaming performance with two titles: Elden Ring, and Cyberpunk 2077. Using the built in display, the RTX 4070 easily ran both titles at the G14’s native resolution of 2880x1800. Elden Ring is frame rate capped at 60fps, and with graphical settings at max, things stayed at a solid 60fps. Cyberpunk 2077 is a more graphically demanding title, but even with settings turned up and ray tracing on, this G14 still managed a very playable frame rate in the high 40s. Under heavy load, the fans were kept to a low roar; excellent cooling that is remarkably quiet for such a compact package. I took a chance and connected to a 4K display and, deep down, I knew better. My advice is don’t do that. The penalty to frame rate and graphics quality was too significant. Elden Ring set on low graphics quality still managed to almost eke out 60fps – in most situations. Cyberpunk’s FPS dove to the high 20s/low 30s. From now on, I’ll stick to the G14’s excellent built-in screen or a 32” 1440p LCD when I want something a little bigger. Docs say to charge the G14 for 3 hours before running solely from battery. It was fully charged in under 90 minutes. Battery life is good for productivity tasks, lasting several hours on a single charge. As of this writing, it’s been running on battery from a full charge for two hours as I alternate between Elden Ring, Cyberpunk 2077, and work. I’m down to 40%/1hr 40min remaining. That suggests that I should get 3.5-4 hours while doing moderately demanding tasks. Obviously, steady gaming will shorten that figure. The G14 has the onboard AMD Radeon 780M Graphics as well as the discrete GeForce RTX 4070. Depending on the task, the G14 has the ability to select which GPU drives the laptop internal display. This can be overridden from within the NVIDIA Control Panel, but so far it’s been an effective – and mostly invisible – means of stretching battery life. The 3K (2880x1800) OLED display is a thing of beauty. A 120Hz refresh rate means buttery smooth motion no matter what I’m doing. Playing fast-paced games looks as smooth and clear as scrolling a webpage. Zero blur or stutter. The screen’s bright, lifelike colors combined with near-infinite contrast gives images an unexpected depth. This display might be my favorite element of this laptop. There are plenty of ports to cover almost any situation. HDMI 2.1, 2 USB 3.2 Type-A, 1 USB-C, 1 Type C USB 4 that supports DisplayPort and PD, and a microSD (UHS-II) card reader. The only omission I even thought about was a dedicated Ethernet port, but the built-in MediaTek Wi-Fi 6E handily covers networking. If I really insist on a wired network, either of the Type C USB connectors have more than enough bandwidth to add a hub with the additional port. The onboard stereo speakers sound surprisingly good from such a small package. While gaming, it’s easy to locate the source of in-game sounds, even the ones behind me. Listening to music is very satisfying. Vocals are clear and distinct, and stereo effects are clearly produced. My only criticism would be a lack of bass, but from a package a mere .63” thick, it gets a pass. If I’m that concerned about sound, it supports my favorite Bluetooth earbuds and there is a 3.5mm combo audio jack. Armoury Crate is ASUS’s own app that delivers easy access to a plethora of information about the PC and any configuration or performance setting I can think of. On top of that, its Game Library tab was able to catalog my Steam library and allows me to launch games directly, instead of going through Steam (though Steam does need to be loaded in the background). Overall, I cannot say enough positive things about the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14. It does everything right and makes no compromises. I know it’s only April, but this is likely my favorite laptop of 2024!

Keyboards stop working sometimes randomly and it only gets fixed by pressing the power button to perform a hard shutdown. Caps Lock key stopped working, if I press it locks everything and only the mouse works.

The Greatest 14” Gaming Laptop You Can Buy

I’m pleased to say that this is no longer the case with the new G14 First the design of this is great. The older I get the less I want to carry around something with sharp angled edges and enough RGB to pass for a small UFO. This is metal mostly with just one animated strip bar on the lid. You likely wouldn’t know it was a gaming beast just looking at the design and that’s perfect for me. It has rounded corners and reminds me of a certain fruity company laptop. The keyboard is nice and feels good to type on, I feel you have adequate travel in the keys and they bounce back nicely. The mousepad is nice, it’s very smooth and click and is large making using it a breeze. Specs on this are the Ryzen 9, 32gb of Ram, 1TB ssd and a powerful RTX 4070 This game plays pretty much everything on high settings, I play a lot of undisputed and this handles it with ease, same with modern warfare 3 and Warzone. It smashes these these titles and offers a fantastic gaming experience. This is also helped by the screen which is the biggest upgrade for me Asus went with a beautiful OLED display this year and WOW!!! The colors are so good, the blacks are true black and everything just looks amazing. Gaming on OLED is a game changer for me in a laptop and this is the device to do that to me. Nothing else quite competes. My only negative is the proprietary charger. It doesn’t use USB C to charge and I understand why as Asus say they can get more power from what they went with. Overall this is by far the best overall experience from a gaming laptop I’ve ever had. Whether I’m at work doing spreadsheets and typical admin stuff or at home screaming at losing in the Gulag this makes everything so easy. It’s a great laptop and if you’re looking for a great 14” laptop then this should be where you land

ASUS Bios and Best Buy Support Problems

Computer is not working. I paid My Best Buy Total 194 USD to get it done. Now Geek Squad says they can't do it and I have to pay 75 USD for a new HDD or take the device and send it to ASUS myself. I bought the computer less than 1 month ago and I haven't used it for 1 day. I have already had to pay more than 300 USD. I will never buy a computer from BEST Buy again. And ASUS which have lots of similar BIOS problem. The whole problem was caused by ASUS's own BIOS software. Stay away from BEST BUY and ASUS.

CHECK YOUR COMPONENTS -- NOT A 4070 or 32GB

ROG Zephyrus - not for me

Missing proprietor power supply

Thunderbolt is a no go.

It says it is capable of display output, but only at 1080p at 60hrtz. Don’t buy the AMD version, spend the little extra for the intel version if you need thunderbolt.

Screen stopped working after 3 hours

It stopped working after 3 hours, the screen went completly black. I tried turning it off and back on, tried to do a soft reset and that didnt work. For a $1800 laptop it sure didnt come close to meeting my expectations.

Laptop stolen

A Compact Powerhouse for Work and Play

When I’m not DJing at a gig, it’s my desktop replacement for audio and video production, editing, and gaming, and it handles everything effortlessly. The AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS + RTX 4070 packs serious power, but the real star here is the 14” OLED 3K 120Hz HDR display—absolutely breathtaking. HDR content looks insane—deep blacks, vibrant colors, and incredible contrast. Whether I’m editing video, working on music, or gaming, the high brightness and true-to-life colors make everything pop. The 120Hz refresh rate keeps motion silky smooth, and the response time is lightning fast. Performance is top-tier, crushing DAWs, video rendering, and AAA games with no sweat. The build is solid, lightweight for the power it packs, and the battery life is respectable for a gaming laptop when I need to work untethered. If you want desktop-level performance in a portable machine with one of the best HDR displays out there, this is it. Absolute powerhouse.

Speakers are not working

The customer agents stop responding after sometime without providing any solid resolution. Quite dissapointed with the service. I had to talk to 3 different agents and explain the whole situation again and again without any resolution.

Bad buy

Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had 2 separate problems in less than a week with the second being a blue screen of death forcing a complete restart of the computer. Having to factory reset a brand new computer is completely unacceptable.
