Overall the performance on this laptop is great. My online gaming experience has been top tier but there are some downsides too. I mostly use an external display monitor and playing for hours causes the laptop to be hot to the touch like taking a plate from the microwave. Even though it's been sitting on my laptop fan the duration of the game play. Then the moment in open the laptop to display, the keyboard carries the same heat. I imagine the constant heat will result in a shorter lifespan of this laptop. Considering the amount of money I paid, I may return it for something else. Still deciding.

Packaging The shipping package was overly large but had an ample amount of packing bubble and cardboard to protect the actual laptop packaging itself. The ASUS laptop box was sleek, minimal packaging. The laptop was protected well and came without any scratches or dents.
Laptop
The first thing I noticed was the power supply. It's so much smaller than Asus power supplies used to be! The brick is still a brick but a slimmer, more lightweight power brick. This itself made me really happy. Cabling was an ample amount to run it around my desk. The laptop is a glossy gray and makes the laptop look more professional but still has hints of a gaming laptop. It doesn’t scream gaming laptop, minus the diagonal bar on the lid, reminds me of an industrial gray color but not cold. The profile of the laptop is slimmer than previous Asus laptops I have had, but still has a bit of weight. I love the look of it and it's smooth to the touch. The mouse pad on the laptop is large centered and goes from the edge of the laptop to the bottom of the keyboard section and recessed in with light edges. It is sensitive to the touch, smooth, and very responsive when using. The keys are responsive, clicky/spongy, i would call it semi clicky, with a low profile. It feels like they curve in towards the center a bit but it is subtle and really can not see it. Dedicated volume control buttons at the top right are well placed. The power button is recessed in and sometimes takes a press or two to get the laptop to respond. I found better success when holding down the button for a moment. I like the low profile of the power button and the shape adds an element of design.
The laptop arrived dead, left it on the charger for a while and it powered up. There is not a dedicated ethernet port on the laptop, it's running on wifi right now. The available i/o ports are ample enough. I haven’t had the need to use a hub. The only time I thought about running the hub for the ethernet port was for game downloads. Smaller games downloaded rather quickly but large games hung at a quarter of the download, but eventually downloaded within an hour and a half. I normally download games through ethernet within a few minutes within a few minutes through ethernet. Startup/set up was simple and quick super easy, just uninstalled the few minor bloatware. Only had to do a few driver updates but those updates were quick.
The OLED screen is sharp, bright, with crisp text. While watching or reading through screens the colors are rich and bright. The games look amazing and lively while looking at the screen. I haven’t found the need to make any adjustments to the brightness, minus changing browsers/app to dark mode. The white on the browser was intense. Built-in speakers are loud and full, I didn't feel the need to hook them up to external speakers as of now. I normally use headphones anyways. Watching videos and movies the speakers were more than enough.
I did experience an issue with the laptop going to sleep and not waking up on the first attempt. THis happened a couple of times. WHen waking up the screen would stay plack and the mouse would appear on screen but the rest was black. After a min the screen would eventually come up but there was no option to input the password to login. Letting the laptop go back to sleep and waking it up again would correct the issue.
Game play i let the laptop do game optimizations. I did not set anything up custom. Gameplay was awesome. I had been having trouble and serious issues with some of my games on my previous laptop. I was finally able to launch and play one of my racing games, I didn't have any of the lock up, freezing, or garbled images or crashes. The game has been running smoothly with no hiccups. Loading times between launching and game play are super quick. I was super happy with it running at full ultra or epic settings, I did notice I had a smile on my face looking at how crisp all of the images were. The laptop picked up on my mouse and controller right away. The fans did kick on and run the whole time. The fan noise eventually faded into the background but the keyboard where you rest your wrist did get hot/warm. Not scalding hot but enough that I lifted my wrist off of it.
Summary
I am super satisfied with the laptop. Start up to launching Steam and getting into the game is fast and smooth. The OLED display is just wow and puts a smile on my face. The colors and the way the videos or gameplay just pop. I love it. My favorite things about the laptop would be, OLED would be my number one and the second would be the power supply being smaller and third is the size of the laptop, and last would be how quick and smooth everything runs.

I’ve been using the ROG Zephyrus G16 for a little under a week now, and while it’s an impressive piece of hardware, it’s not without its quirks.
The OLED display is simply stunning. The 2.5K res paired with the 240Hz refresh rate makes everything—from gaming to browsing—look vibrant, fluid, and incredibly immersive. I find myself staring at the screen even when I’m not doing anything intensive. It really is a joy to game on an OLED display.
The design continues in the tradition of the Zephyrus line. It’s thin, light, solid, and feels premium. ASUS has done an excellent job with the build quality—everything feels solid, and it’s amazingly portable for a gaming laptop. Great for anyone who wants performance on the go. Unfortunately the power brick detracts from the portability.
Now for the trade-offs.
This machine runs really hot, even when not under load. If I lived in the Arctic, I'm pretty sure this laptop would keep me warm. It's not so fun in the AZ heat. The heat is something to be expected from a chassis this thin and components this powerful, but still—I'd love to see better thermal management in future versions. The fans do their best, but the heat buildup is something to be aware of if you’re gaming for long sessions.
Also, 32GB of RAM at this price point seems meh. It gets the job done, but doubling it to 64gb would've been a nice touch—especially for future-proofing. The bottom plate is held on with torx screws, so while I haven’t opened it up yet, I’m hoping/assuming the RAM is user-upgradeable.
Despite the heat and memory limitation, the gaming experience is phenomenal. Smooth gameplay, minimal ghosting, and that gorgeous OLED just makes everything pop. For gamers and content consumers alike, this machine is a treat.
Bottom line: If you can handle the heat and potentially upgrade the RAM down the line, this is an exceptional laptop for its size. ASUS nailed the screen and the portability. It’s not perfect, but it’s pretty close and a worthy successor to last year's Zephyrus.

Man for all the glaze this laptop gets I'm gonna say it sucks. sorry genuinely this laptop cannot run games smoothly. Tried it in multiple games and the worst was black ops so I switched it to a different game thinking maybe it's the game but nah sure it wasn't as bad as black ops but I still experienced flickering and short freezes here and there which I NEVER had with a console system. nah I'm returning this and getting my money back and then I'm buying a pc not a laptop. horrible experience. Beautiful laptop design wise amazing but just did not perform like it was advertised. I'm mainly a productivity person and casually play games but when I do play games I want to enjoy it not be frustrated. This is why I'm return it. If I'm spending 4K in a laptop I expect too notch performance plug and play not me going around and researching why are games freezing on YouTube and figuring out how to fix it especially with black ops 6 campaign just a bad experience Im not willing to put up with due to the price.

Dear Robert,
Thank you for your comment.
We do understand your disappointment with this laptop and the inconvenience this may have caused if you are experiencing system freeze and the screen flickering. To resolve these issues, ensure Windows, drivers, BIOS and the Armoury Crate utility software are up to date. Updates for this laptop are posted at: https://rog.asus.com/us/laptops/rog-zephyrus/rog-zephyrus-g16-2025-gu605/helpdesk_download/. You may need to reconfigure your system, game video and performance mode settings inside the Armoury Crate utility. Additionally, if you are playing these games online, ensure this laptop has access to an established router and internet service is working properly since this will definitely affect system stability and performance. If these steps were performed to no avail, please try to run a diagnostics or optimization test using the "My ASUS" utility software or application. If this is not pre-installed on the laptop, please download the application at the Microsoft Store. For details on how to use "My ASUS", please go to: https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1041686/. The OLED screen is absolutely beautiful but unfortunately the poor heat management made being able to game on it without a table impossible. It gets burning hot!
My game, not even being played at max settings, froze a number of times.
Just not what it should have performed at for a laptop that cost and had the specs it did.

Laptop keeps crashing with BSoD or just completely freezes if I run it in any mode except Ultimate Performance mode. Seems like an issue with the Integrated GPU. I have spent the whole week trying everything to fix this issue and have come to the conclusion it is a hardware problem with the Integrated GPU on the Processor.
I would try to exchange the laptop for a different one without issues but the laptop is not even in stock, so I don't have that option. Talked to Best Buy support and the only option is to get a refund, exchange for a different in stock laptop, or wait and hope this laptop is in stock again for an exchange.
I really wanted to like this laptop and I could just run it in Ultimate Performance mode as a work around but I should not have to do that for a laptop this expensive.

It's a great notebook, best form factor for light gaming and beautiful screen. Don't get fooled, the hinges are terrible. Touching or lifting up the notebook results in squeaks and it sounds like it's falling apart. This thing is a flagship notebook for over three grand and the build quality is garbage. I've been using the ROG Zephyrus G16 for about two weeks now, primarily for gaming. In that time, I’ve been able to test its performance on a range of titles, and while it generally performs well, there have been some issues worth mentioning.
The higher-range specs provide solid performance for most tasks, especially gaming. Frame rates are high, and the games I've tested have run smoothly for the most part. However, there have been some stuttering and freezing issues with applications, where they temporarily freeze for a few seconds. This is an unfortunate but occasional issue, and I’m hopeful it will be addressed in future driver updates.
In terms of design, the Zephyrus G16 does a great job balancing style and functionality. The build quality is solid, and it manages to stay sleek and relatively lightweight and thin compared to other gaming laptops. It doesn't feel bulky, which makes it more portable and less cumbersome for travel or use in different environments.
The OLED display is a major highlight of the G16. The color accuracy is impressive, and the 240Hz refresh rate makes for a very responsive experience overall. The screen is vibrant and sharp, making it a great setup for pretty much any task.
When it comes to the keyboard and trackpad, they are functional but not exceptional. The keyboard feels standard for a gaming laptop, providing adequate travel and responsiveness. The trackpad, while serviceable, doesn’t offer anything particularly noteworthy compared to others in its class.
Temperatures have been decent, but during extended gaming sessions, the temperature does rise noticeably. The fans remain relatively quiet under lighter loads but become quite loud when switched to higher performance modes. While not a dealbreaker, it’s something to consider if you plan on using the laptop for long periods in performance-heavy applications.
Battery life is another area that could use improvement. I’ve found that under light to moderate use, it lasts around 3 hours from a full charge, which is to be expected with specifications of this caliber. Heavy use, such as gaming, further drains the battery in a short time, as is common among almost all gaming laptops.
One notable concern is that the 50-series GPUs are still undergoing frequent driver updates, so there are occasional software-related issues. The out-of-the-box experience was typical for a Windows laptop, with no major hurdles or surprises during setup.
In terms of value, the ROG Zephyrus G16 is on the pricier side, but its performance is hard to match. For anyone who needs the power of a gaming laptop but also wants the capability to use studio applications on the go, this device offers something unique. If you're willing to invest in the high-end specs, it’s definitely worth considering, especially for those needing portable, high-performance computing.
