Do not buy.

Frequent BSODs when trying to update drivers. Support is poor and only offers solutions that they say may BRICK the device and it's not their problem. Do not buy from Best Buy as their return window is incredibly short and many hardware issues take time to manifest. Stay far away.

Very powerful laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had a pretty underpowered laptop for about six years, and going into college decided it was time for an upgrade. This laptop is very powerful, running games that used to give me a lot of trouble with ease. The graphics are super nice, and look extra crisp on the 4k screen, which has beautiful colors. I've seen a couple of reviews on this that complain about the fan noise, but I would expect fans on a machine running these types of programs, andd putting any sort of music or other noise in your headset makes it almost silent. Pretty high build quality, and the RGB keyboard is always a plus.

There's a possibility that there are background apps and Windows updates causing the unit to perform as it does. What we've observed with the Windows 10 operating system is that once the unit is not being used all background and installed apps including Windows updates will fire up. We would recommend that you check for and install updates. This will cause the unit to run a bit hotter than normal and in turn ramp up the fan speed. We would recommend that the user check for and install all updates for all installed applications. Multiple restarts are recommended to ensure all updates are installed.

We appreciate your feedback on this model. A 60Hz monitor displays up to 60 images per second. 60Hz monitor is perfect for novice gamers. For simple games like Minecraft, which are based on few moving images, 60Hz is more than enough. Adventure games like Assassin's Creed and GTA V run best on a 60HZ screen, so it really depends on the type of games you plan to run on this model.

Not worth the price.

The audio drivers are impossible to work around so you're not going to be able to use any mic because the built in one will override your mic. It also has spotting issues on the screen, Geek Squad fixed one spot and caused 5 others to pop up.

Very disappointed not what I expected from ASUS

The charging port intermittently works, one of the cooling fans don't work and constantly get blue/green screen lock-up (watchdog violation). System recovery does not work.

Disappointing
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Less than a week into ownership, impressions are mostly negative but are based primarily on out of box functionality (i.e. have not tweaked configuration at all yet). If you're not within full bar radius of your wi-fi router, wi-fi capabilities are abysmal. For 300Mb service, downloads over wi-fi within same room as router averaged between 100-150Mb which I can live with. But moving upstairs the speed plummeted to an average of around 10Mb and experienced far too much signal dropping or speeds less than 1Mb, all while other (much older) devices had no noticeable decrease in download speed. Battery lifetime is on par with expectations, but power adapter is too clumsy and cumbersome to make this an effective mobile gaming (or other use) device. On the subject of gaming, display is crisp and colors are vibrant. Performance is solidly upper end of middle-ground, but comes at a cost. The fan is so loud even with low to moderate levels of graphics processing that it gets distracting even while using a noise cancelling headset because you wind up playing your game worrying and wondering when the system will crash (or explode, given how loud it is). But maybe the most frustrating thing of all is the keyboard. The backlighting is barely visible (at default levels) making key identification in dim or dark rooms difficult if not impossible, while at the same time the red LED lamp on the power button is too bright and an eyesore burning into your peripheral vision just off the lower right corner of the screen. Even the tiny little connection/activity indicator lights just under the center of the monitor screen (and also visible when the laptop is shut because of the cutout at the bottom of the panel) are bright enough to cast shadows on the ceiling in a dark room. But the worst and most frustrating experience has been how unresponsive the keys themselves are. Even typing this review probably required double hitting keys with extra force at least a dozen times or more. Expect thumbs of steel from pounding on the spacebar if you plan on doing any significant amount of typing. On the positive side, it is a good price for what seems to be a nicely performing upper-middle ground gaming laptop for non-mobile gaming if you plan to use an ethernet connection or be situated near your wi-fi router, if you can stand the fan noise, and assuming you are going to use a separate peripheral keyboard.

When the electrical current is increased to a certain point, the magnetic field around the coil can cause it to vibrate, which produces the whiny sound. After a short amount of time the noise should go away as the components regulates. However, if it is that the sound is too much for you, then we would recommend that you have this device sent in for servicing.

Not worth the $1400

Paying $1400 for a computer I would expect pretty crisp graphics even on low settings. Not with this puppy.

Rog Zephyrus Gmachine that others will strive for

On performance mode it is just speeding through everything, but there is an Turbo mode, haven't tried that yet. Had not needed to. With gaming the battery was still good. Oh, very light, screen is so thing that an additional two screens that slide on the back would make a three screen set up easy and quick. Anyhow, the best machine for the money, hands down.
