Bought this for tech program and not for gaming. Lightning fast and does everything I need with ease. Planning on upgrading the ram which is a cool feature that the manufacturer allows you to do from an engineering standpoint.

Good laptop, For the price and outdated parts, kinda expensive. You can totally feel the heat from the bottom of the laptop. To be Expected from a gaming laptop, guess always have to be used on a flat surface. One thing that disappointed me was that it had no camera. Like what laptop doesn't have a built in front camera. I checked out other brands and they still have camera. Asus puts down as optional, so Im guessing usb camera.

Can boot up and use this computer in about 20 seconds. Its fast quite and can do some computing. You will never want to use another sluggish laptop again.

I cannot recommend this laptop, or honestly ASUS as a company. This was the first ASUS product I have bought. After reading a lot of top gaming laptop lists, I was immediately drawn to the aesthetic of the ASUS ROG Zephyrus. It was expensive, but I had the extra from working with a 6-week summer school program for title I kids, and I remembered my Mom saying, “Well, I did my part for the economy” when she would splurge on something nice. So, I was excited and couldn’t wait to see how this laptop would preform with the guys I game with.
I received my computer in July 2020. There were quirks right out of the box, and little things I would have changed, but overall, I was still happy and excited. By the end of August, it was clear something was wrong with the laptop. The battery would be at zero, but plugged in on the cord it would say 255%, and it was doing other weird things. I factory reset it twice, updated firmware, and looked for other solutions. Finally, I had to admit defeat and sent it into ASUS service center for the warranty in September.
I know that I got very unlucky and got the bad apple in the bunch, which I could have been ok with, but how ASUS has handled it since is why I recommend staying away from this company’s products. After the service center had the laptop for two weeks, I received a message that the laptop was customer damaged and a picture of a chip in my case under the vent panel by the hinge. This was very upsetting since I had the laptop less than a few months, it mostly sat on my desk, I never dropped it, and as far as I knew there was no case damage when I sent it to them. I called to discuss it, which was mostly a run around, but gave me two pieces of information. One, the problem I sent it in for had not been fixed, and would require a new motherboard, which says to me, I really did get a completely defective product. Two, I did not take pictures of the laptop from every angle before sending it to be fixed so they would not remove the repair cost. I disputed especially since life happened and I’m now unemployed so an additional cost on a bad product is salt in the wound.
There has been a long email exchange which I cannot share here because their emails contain a legal disclaimer that I’m not allowed too. I understand companies want to protect themselves, but I feel the legal on their emails and the ordeal in general has shown the company’s true colors. A month later my laptop is still not fixed, and there are questions as to whether it will be. I asked them to fix the warranty issue, not the chipped case, and figured it was just something I would have to live with, but still they have not agreed to fix it. With the price I paid for a new laptop, this is crazy and not what I expected. Plus, when this does get resolved, I still won’t have a new quality laptop. ROG clearly stands for ‘Ripping Off Gamers’ in my mind, and the whole experience has been heartbreaking.
If you do buy an ASUS I truly hope you don’t get a defective one. If the computer does show problems early enough for service repair, be ready to protect yourself, and take pictures before mailing it. This company does not care about the quality of its products, or it’s consumers. I am posting this in multiple places to hopefully save others from what I am going through, and I have a BBB complaint submitted.
