Very satisfied with my first Asus router. I wanted to upgrade my Netgear R9000 AC router to get on WiFi6. My biggest surprise is how light and how small a footprint it requires compared to my last few high end Netgear routers. So I was a little hesitant it wouldn't perform as well but after testing signal strength and speeds this Asus is a clear winner. A tip, which is also printed in materials included in Asus documents, is if you plan to enable WiFi6, you MUST install the newest wireless NIC card drivers from the NIC manufacturer before enabling WiFi6 on the router. In my case, I went to Intel's website to find the correct downloads. This will ensure your computer will see the SSIDs after enabling the optional WiFi6 features. My testing on the 5Ghz band showed a speed increase of around 100 Mbps over my R9000 Netgear router. This router supports the newest WPA3 security framework too. It allows you to select any of the older standards or a combination of them for each SSID. I went with WPA2/WPA3 to allow legacy devices to connect still. Dual band only but this is more than enough for my 12 devices in a 4000 sq ft home. My typical traffic is youtube, surfing net, and occasional video gaming.

Great wifi router, set up was so very easy. Wifi 6 coverage is much better than wifi 5 coverage. Extends outside house to garage, fantastic. With compatible wifi 6 device such Galaxy S10 get 1 gig speed. Better for smart home with many smart devices to control. App is very user friendly, has parental controls, wpa3 security, and price is not to high like other routers.

This router is much faster and more reliable than my old netgear router, which became a potato after a particularly bad firmware "upgrade". After this, I think I will be relying solely on ASUS for router upgrades in the future. Aside from the superior performance, including Wi-Fi 6 compatibility, this router also has much better customization options to ensure the best experience for everyone on the network. Pros: -Reliable - working from home is much more manageable -Range - no more complaints from roommates getting a dropped signal -Fast - delivers the high speed internet that I pay for at a bandwidth that can support 4 people working from home. -Wi-Fi 6 -Great Security -AiMesh compatibility - flexible use as standalone router, access point or mesh node. Cons: -A little pricey -If you mess with the settings too much, the router doesn't like it

A lot to say so I'll make it short. Used ASUS routers for ever. Then one day had a great idea to go with the Google Nest mesh wifi system. Never could get the speeds wirelessly that I was paying for from my ISP. Had multiple issues connecting to the Ring doorbell. The only way I could get the speed I was paying for was connecting directly to the modem with a wired connection to my laptop using the Google Nest mesh router. So I bought two of these (since these routers have mesh capability). Installed one. Covered the entire house. Connected instantly to the Ring doorbell and live view. No issues. Instantly I am getting the speeds (wireless) I am paying for almost anywhere in my house. So, since I bought two, I went ahead and installed the second in a mesh network. Coverage is insane. Top speeds almost anywhere now. I took the Google Nest mesh routers to another location with another ISP for a test and same thing. Never could get close to the speeds (wirelessly) offered from the other ISP. So, not sure what the deal is with the Google Nest mesh routers. But, if you want a router that has insane coverage and blazing performance, then this router is a great choice. Parental controls, AI Protection, Mobile phone app, easy firmware upgrades etc. A little pricey since I purchased two, but after months bugging my ISP about the wireless speeds, to me it was worth it. Most people may only need one. If one is not enough, then you can always purchase any ASUS router with AiMesh capability and set up a mesh network. Only drawback, ASUS could do a better job explaining how to set the routers up in a mesh system. But I guess that's what YouTube is for.

This was a replacement for my primary ASUS router for a mesh network consisting of three other routers. I have a Blue Cave in one room, a RT-AC68U in an office upstairs, and a RT-AC66U_B1 in an upstairs bedroom. The other router failed after a couple of years. Although I had to go through the hassle of setting everthing up from scratch, this router's performance is much better than the router it replaced - I checked by testing signal strength and speed. I have found that routers will crap out occasionally, including ASUS. However, the mesh network capability using different routers, overall perfomance and ease of administration have made me a repeat customer.

I recently switched internet providers. Rather than pay $10 a month to “rent” one of their routers, I decided to purchase my own. So far I’m glad I did. Set up was pretty easy using my laptop and ASUS also had a nice companion app that can be used. I have the router in a finished basement and had my 4K tv and PS5 connected to it (using a direct connection usually means a faster connection). Even though the router is in the basement, I’ve been able to get top speeds on the main floor and second floor. The nice thing about this model is that it’s Mesh compatible. You can add another mesh compatible router anywhere else in the house if needed. So far this has been working great on its own but it’s nice knowing I have options and it’s future-proof.

Easy to set up and manage. Some of the advanced routing and firewall features may be a bit much for the average person but I find them quite useful. The range is good and I saw an immediate improvement in download speeds (over WIFI). I have a 3 level home and the AX3000 is on the top floor. I Setup AiMesh using my AC1900 on the basement level and now have very good coverage in this area. I currently do not have any devices that support WIFI 6 but am glad to know it's available when we do upgrade. The addition of WPA3 Personal/Enterprise is also a bonus with regards to WIF security and will be utilizing this option soon.

Overall, Asus always makes very solid and reputable products. I have yet to be disappoint and there is no exception here with the Asus AX3000. Keep in mind that this is the new AX Wi-Fi or WiFi6 standard which improves connection quality. The router has a very solid range and very consistent connection quality. My desktop PC with an older AC Wi-Fi card gets 196-200 Mbps from about 10 - 15 feet away and with walls between. This is paired with a 200 Mbps cable plan. This is a huge increase from my Linksys AC1200 dual-band router. The Linksys would not go over 130 Mbps. Within a few feet of the router I get a strong 200 Mbps. AX or Wi-Fi 6 capable devices like my iPhone pushes well into the 250 Mbps. One of it's amazing features is Mesh Wi-Fi. You can easily setup multiple AX3000's in a larger home. The app makes managing multiple Wi-Fi points easy. Super easy setup and the Asus App comes with a boat load of features. This router is perfect for the "set it and forget it" beginner but I highly recommended this router for advanced users as well because of it's features!

We stream all of our video content and this router has been rock solid. The previous router from Best Buy, Netgear brand, was dropping connection daily. Best Buy was good enough to let me exchange it for the Asus router. The range is great and I get the full internet speed provided by Charter to my wireless devices.

I'm an advanced user that typically hacks their router for features they typically don't offer, security/hacking minded. Replacing a 1.5 year old netgear nighthawk router that didn't offer features I wanted and upgraded to DD-WRT, 5GHz radio doesn't work anymore - Downgraded to stock via TFTP and still issue with HW. Considering to buy another to extend coverage to outdoor cams. Stock firmware on this router doesn't leave me wanting more, I like focus on security as well. Pros: Allows SSH into router Allows custom PKI certificates for OpenVPN server (e.g. using xca or openssl for instance) Can change WPS button to turn LED on/off or toggle radio instead of controlling WPS Can change username of admin Security check for novice users is actually good (e.g. checks for WPS disabled) Reboot scheduler Android phone app is great for labeling all items on network and seeing network traffic Can group items on network for disabling internet access from group Has feedback tab in FW to send suggestions to Asus Supports WPA3/WPA2 hybrid as things move to WPA3 Works with Synology NAS setup as radius server Allows time scheduling of internet for grouped devices Gives breakdown of device bandwidth CPU/RAM monitoring Can see what users are doing and searching on your network if desired Breakdown of bandwidth usage by device and content inside that bandwidth Allows disabling 2.4GHz radio Allows LAN port to be used as dual WAN Allows meshing with other Asus devices Stable setup: Primary, secondary, and guest SSID (primary for devices I trust, secondary for IoT (TV/cams/Echo/vacuum/etc), guest disabled/enabled on demand via phone app) AiProtection = ON, always - Found/blocked malware traffic to IPhone 11! QoS = OFF (Router unstable if on as of 3.0.4.284_9354) Web History = OFF (Turn ON as needed on demand, but disable within an hour or 2) Traffic Analyzer = ON, always USB = Disabled (use Synology NAS instead) AiCloud = Disabled Alexa = Disabled (however, it's cool you could use to turn on guest Wi-Fi, I simply use the app to prevent exposure to internet) Reboot scheduled once a week in case memory leaks Cons: - QoS is unstable and uses too much CPU - May work better on a higher spec'ed model. However, I don't need it anyway. QoS is only needed if you max out ISP bandwidth. - Cannot swap out HTTPS certificate used for router management. Would like to swap this with a free Let's Encrypt cert that auto renews. Maybe possible via SSH, but haven't dug into it yet.

I have purchased 2 AX3000 routers from Best Buy. One I use a the main WiFi Router connected to my cable modem. I use another AX3000 as a Wifi Mesh node (AiMesh) in my basement. I get fast speeds and great coverage in my 3 story house with this combination. Plus, it's WiFi 6 (aka AX) which supports even faster speeds and throughput than the older AC mode WiFi equipment. The latest Samsung phone and iPhone 11 both support AX - as will most all future devices! Great price for a great product

I have a Surface Laptop 3 and wanted to try its WiFi 6, so I bought this after my first attempt with a TPLink WiFi 6 router didn't go so well (intermittent latency issues and just okay speeds). It's been 2 weeks with the ASUS router now and it's been working great. I should mention I'm only using it in Access Point mode. By default, WiFi 6 and 160 MHz channels are disabled, so you'll need to turn them on for best performance. I turned off Smart Connect (band steering) because I think it was preventing me from consistently connecting in WiFi 6 mode. The range is excellent and I'm impressed with the speed even at long distances. It's been completely stable even with latency sensitive applications such as video conferencing and watching live streams. That said, don't expect it to beat (or even match) gigabit ethernet, unless you are very close to the router.

Super easy to set up, the admin panel is very straightforward and easy to navigate. I haven't had any issues with it glitching out and no longer working, it's been really reliable. The range on it is a lot further than I expected, and the signal strength is pretty good too

This thing really upped my game, i replaced my ISP provides router with this and started actually seeing 100Mbps+ on wifi and over 600mbps+ on ethernet, where as before i was lucky to get 40Mbps on wifi and 120Mbps on ethernet with the old router. Much better signal range, with decent speeds even at the opposite end of where i was lucky to even have singal at all before. Easy setup too!

This is a good router for the price. My home is approx 3300sq ft and it works just fine in all corners of the house. I stream a lot and I get a very clear image and no freezing or slow-down even when there are 15 plus devices on wifi. A nice upgrade from my 6 year old Linksys. It was pretty easy to set up and the app is a good way to monitor all connected devices.

This router has worked for me without issue. I cannot speak to its longevity since I've only had it a month, but my prior ASUS router worked flawlessly for over five years. This router was very easy to setup and use, provides a great signal all through my house and has had no connectivity issues so far. I like the app, which makes it easy to see which devices are or are not connected to it at a given time. Overall, I think it should last several years without issue and I don't have to pay the ISP to rent their junk every month. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a router that supports highspeed internet, connects several devices in the home and has an easy setup

I bought the ASUS AX3000 to replace the single-band, WiFi 4 router that is built into my AT&T modem. There are simply too many 2.4GHz networks bleeding over into our house from the neighbors, and the AT&T router is too weak to get the full circuit bandwidth anywhere beyond about 10 feet from it. The AX3000 is incredibly easy to set up. Before starting, I Googled how to shut off the built-in wifi radio and put the AT&T modem/router into pass-through mode. The ASUS router app is really nice, but I preferred using the on-board interface to set things up by wiring in our desktop PC. I set up both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks using different SSID's so that I could tell them apart. (I am not a fan of the "Smart Connect" feature that uses a single SSID and can move devices between 2.4GHz and 5GHz to try to optimize range and speed.) Two devices in the house only support 2.4GHz, but the rest are all on the 5GHz network, including iPhones running WiFi 6 and a variety of devices including Apple TVs and Roku sticks using WiFi 5. Using a speedtest app on my iPhone 12, I then methodically checked every room in the house before connecting all the other devices. We have a 3000 sq foot, two-story home with another 1000 sq ft in the unfinished basement. The AX3000 sits in the loft near the center of the second floor (great central location). The results? I got the full bandwidth of our internet circuit in every room of the house and in the basement, despite the signal strength sometimes being as low as 35%! This router has great features, a good user interface and a nice companion app. But it's the combination of WiFi 6 and other advanced tech that makes its performance shine. I have even noticed my Chromebook getting better battery life now that it can operate on 802.11ac (WiFi 5) along with a stronger signal. The AX3000 is not the cheapest home router, but if you need range, throughput, and the ability to support a fleet of modern devices, it is a great investment.
