I’ve been using this router at home for mesh wifi. I have home automation devices all over the house and many devices that require a 2.4 and 5 Ghz connection. Internet never fails. Even if you are not a gamer, this is the router you should get.

I'm getting great speeds gig speeds and when I'm gaming on my ps5(hard wired ethernet), I have pretty decent low ping down to 22 at times on Modern Warfare 2. Usually average around 30 once I'm in a game, id say it craddles between 22-30, rarely any lag.

I bought this because my old Router died. I did some research and really thought that this was going to be good. I leave mine in that basement of my 2 story house and have zero problems get wifi in any part of my house. I am even able to get wifi service in my back yard. This is truly a great Router.

This router replaced my 4.5 year old router. I wanted to upgrade the tech and proactively replace before failure. The app makes set up super easy. It was seriously so simple and quick. Immediately, my speeds increased over 2x.

    2.4Ghz band is Terrible

5Ghz band speed and range is exceptional. 2.4Ghz band is terrible. If you don’t need a good 2.4ghz band then this is great. 1 foot from router I get 100+ mbps and 10 feet away unobstructed getting barely 8 mbps on 2.4. Most smart home devices require a good 2.4ghz connection, but this router can not provide that. Will be returning as I am in the return period still.

      Dear Tahaa,

      Thank you for your comment.

We do understand your disappointment and the inconvenience this may have caused if you are experiencing connection problems with 2.4GHz band with. Legacy devices may not work properly with WIFI-6, please check updates for these devices. You can try connecting these devices manually to 2.4GHz. Additionally, legacy devices were designed for IPv4 and will unlikely work with IPv6, try to disable IP46. Furthermore, update the firmware if the router is running with an older version, latest firmware version is posted at:  https://www.asus.com/networking-iot-servers/wifi-routers/asus-gaming-routers/rt-ax82u/helpdesk_bios?model2Name=RT-AX82U .

The app is user-friendly. The website may take a bit to navigate, but useful once you get the hang of it. I value the fact that it allows you to have more control over your network and privacy.

Setup was fairly simple. Speeds coming out are great on both Wi-Fi and wired. Distance has increased. More coverage outside. Took my old ASUS router and set up an AiMesh system in my house. No complaints.

So far so good! Setup was a breeze and have not had any issues with it yet. Plus it looks pretty cool in my living room. Gaming works well wirelessly which is my ultimate stress test for routers. Of course it also matters on the device but both Xbox one x and series x work great as well as a PS5 and PS4 wired which the kids play on. My favorite part about asus is that you can mesh 2 of their routers together so I have an ax3000 on the kids room and are meshed together so they maintain great connection for their devices. Great product. Don't know of any other brands that offer that with their routers. Great product.

I replaced an R7000 Netgear router with this one and so far I have been pleased. The range of this router is about the same as the R7000. Only had one issue, which is common among all routers including the R7000. If you have 2.4 only devices do not use smart connect. Use separate SSIDs for 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. Otherwise your 2.4 devices will most likely fail to connect because smart connect is not very smart when it comes to 2.4GHz only devices. I also had issues with my 5GHz devices connecting to the 2.4GHz band when I needed them on the 5GHz. Just splitting out the bands and choosing which device to put on each is so much easier. I get around 1200Mbps on WiFi 6 devices on my bottom floor (with the router) and the second floor, and around 600Mbps on the top floor of my tri-level home. I'm sure if I put the router in the center of my house I would get around 1200 throughout. I attached an external drive to the router and it used up most of the available ram on the router, so I decided to remove it.

Seems to work fine with great range around the house and yard. It was a little work to get it all set up, but then I am not the most tech savvy person and directions appear written for someone who is.

This router is so fast compared to my old wireless AC, this was completely worth the upgrade. It was easy to set up, and I have a strong signal throughout my whole house (about 200SQFT) and I have the router in a closest. I'm happy I made this purchase.

In the past i had the netgear routers almost exclusively for the past 5 years. I decided to switch this time around because those have ALWAYS failed after just over a year. Vs my last netgear r7000 router i got 2 years ago this thing is a dream. The software is better on the interface, the app is better with no delay, control is much better (turning my kids internet off at X time each night is amazing!) This also provides signal through my entire house where as it never got all the way to my garage before this one does. So far its excellent lets hope it stays that way long term.
