Got this one after my Netgear Nighthawk gave out! This was so easy to set up and the application is very intuitive. Excellent range as well, no extenders required for rooms at the opposite side of a 1800sq ft house with multiple walls between the router and computer or TV.

This router is absolutely unreal! We have close to 70 networked devices in our home (tons of smart home devices/switches/bulbs, etc...) and multiple phones, tablets, laptops, consoles, gaming pc's...it's 2020, you get the idea. We. Have. Tech. TO THAT, we were previously using an Asus Blue Cave w/ an Asus AC1900 in the AI Mesh (with wired backhaul) network. That would work OK at best, with constant router vs ap conflictions, even after multiple complete resets (not reboots) of the whole network. After finally giving up and deciding to throw money at AX, I wanted to stay middle of the road for pricing and this Asus seems to have great reviews and be around $50-$100 less than comparable Netgear models.
Again, we have 60-70 networked devices in our home, maybe 10 of them are wired (xbox ones, ps4, theater receiver, Apple TV...not much). The rest is all on the 2.4/5 wifi signal. This thing immediately picked every device up and we saw signal dB improvements across literally ALL devices. That's a singular AX router besting an AC 'mesh' network. I was very impressed.
The web app is mostly lacking in UI but it's fine, everything is easy to adjust, it just looks very early 2000's. The mobile app, though, looks more polished. BUT, you get more options via the web portal. If they could combine the access of the web portal to the UI of the app, I'd easily give that side a 5/5. Right now its more than functional, just not very modern and could be confusing to folks not familiar with routers. The app, though, is probably all most will use and the basic features are well placed and named, so most won't have an issue.
Setup is about 5-10 minutes tops, including an off the bat firmware update. We reused our old SSID as to not spend a day tracking down the 60+ devices to rejoin a new SSID, so that made the swap over a breeze.
I can't say enough good stuff about this router. I was hesitant to jump into AX since we only have 1 laptop and 2 iPhones that support it, but it seems the added throughput across the bands assisted in giving our other devices better connection, even moving down to 1 router VS the 2 in mesh.
Our house is around 2,000 sq.ft. with an over garage bonus room. We have this centrally located in the main living room on the first floor and almost all devices that are connecting are within 60' line of sight. I've not tested range outside the house yet, but again, even the cameras on the corners of our house have an excellent signal now, loading faster than before and almost no lag OR buffering.
10/10 would recommend if wanting to move to AX without breaking the bank.

After being impressed with a couple of Asus laptops I reviewed for BB's TIN program, I decided to give an Asus router a try. Especially since my 14 month old Netgear router I got at BB died just out of warranty. It was my second Netgear to die but the first one did work 4 years.
After setting the Asus up and loggind the rest of my wifi gear into it, I was impressed with its performance. It wasn't dropping out all the time, much better coverage and faster speed too. It smoked the Netgear router it replaced!
Until February 2021 of this year I had been stuck with Satellite internet since 2014 with a top download speed of about 15 mbps and 760+ ms ping times. Upload was often less than 1 mbps. It's a long trip to a geosynchronous orbit 25,22,236 miles above Earth's equator and then add some more distance depending on your location's latitude and longitude in relation to the satellite. Then the local power company, local internet provider via TDS offered 600mbps fiberoptic internet!! Oh yeah!! I don't think the Netgear router could handle it. In fact I think some of the problems I was having and blaming on satellite internet was the router.
I been using this router for a few months now without any problems. I'm not going to list and quote every spec because that's covered in the info above. What I do want to say it that it was easy to set up and works great. There's an app to use on your phone to set it up and it will guide you though the steps.
I think that it being designed for gamers is on of the things that gives it a speed edge and it's WiFi 6. So if you have newer gear that is WiFi 6 compatible you will get better coverage and speed performance.
Being a gaming router it has RGB LED Aura lighting and looks like an alien scout ship or something. Pretty cool if you're into that but I wish there was a version that has the same guts but in a "normal" case at a lower price. It does look cool and kinda threatening! It's an attention getter!! Especially if you hang it from the ceiling or put it on a shelf up high like I did!! Looks like it's watching you!!
The only issue I have had with it is not being able to select 5 ghz or 2.4 ghz band. The has kept me from setting up a couple of wifi devices that require my phone to be logged into the 2.4 ghz band. That may be something I'm doing wrong but I have been busy and not taken the time to research it and it's not been a big enough problem for me to make the time yet.
This is the best WiFi router I have owned and I would highly recommend it.

This covers all the rooms in my 900 sq ft home without issues and has had no problems. Honestly it's a little overkill for my space but price was good and I didn't want issues with passing signal thru walls.. This delivers

My home office network has grown a decent amount in the last two years. My previous ASUS router was being maxed out almost always with several work stations used simultaneously along with the kids gaming and websurfing/streaming. This new router has brought the bandwidth utilization down to about 1/4 of its capacity instead of almost 100% of the old one. Wifi coverage seems to be a bit stronger in the far ends of my home as well. Speeds are great and virtually zero lag when accessing my servers. Great investment that’ll keep me running efficiently for a couole more years! Highly recommended!

Great Replacement for Norton Core

I got this to replace my Norton Core router which was discontinued and I’d say it’s fairly comparable in performance. This router is highly on other 3rd party reviewing sites, which led to my decision to purchase. Sleek and easy to set up—I was done in like 10 minutes. The lighted effects are cool but not as customizable as other LED products I use with some choices not having the option to change the color. I’m nitpicking because this is a $200+ router but as far as performance goes, it does great. I can play online with my PS4 and my laptop with no lag. Has good reach too. I was actually in my car at one point and still connected haha.

Amazing product. My old nighthawk router stopped working so I replaced it with the nighthawk xr1000 even though it has mixed reviews. Xr1000 was okay, but some of my devices wouldnt connect. First night I kept losing my wired connection but wifi was strong. Connection was unreliable so I brought it back and got this Asus. I have had zero issues. Very happy with my purchase.

Great Upgrade to Wifi 6

This replaced an old ASUS RT-AC66U B1 which was first released way back in 2012. This router is a wifi 6 and boy what an upgrade. The old router would have problems in the farthest reaches of the house. 40 feet and two walls, one being concrete block. Range is no problem and I wished I would have switched sooner. Even though release date was about four years ago, this is still very good. The only thing missing is that ASUS seems to have stopped putting native VPN's in their routers.

I am coming from a Google Wifi. I have had that mesh since the original OnHub. It was time for an upgrade when I found this guy. It does the work of my entire mesh plus some! I have 400 Mbs up and down from the farthest corner and it's in the other corner. Excellent range, good throughput, and the set up was a breeze. If your house is under 2000 sq feet, this will do all you need it to. It's even capable of adding a node to it if needed for a basement or second floor. Highly recommend this over most mesh systems out there!!

I normally don't write reviews for a product. But I want to give some details of my experience in hopes of helping someone who is looking for a new router.
We've had this router for about 2 months now and so far have had no issues with it. Here's a little bit of my experience with this router so far..
We have 2 Xboxs, 2 Nintendo Switches, 2 smart TVS, 5 smartphones, and a gaming PC and this router can handle that and more! Speeds are excellent, especially when hardwired. We live in a large size home with a large lot and the signal range is fantastic, easily reaching the back and front yard. I play wirelessly in my bedroom which is down the hall from the router's location, and even with our concrete filled walls, I've never experience any random lag spikes. I recently had a LAN party where there was a total of 7 Xboxs connected wirelessly, as well as all of the other devices mentioned above, and it handled all of that with no problem and not a single console lagged. Downloading and uploading is fast (also depending on your internet provider speeds). Huge plus on the RGB design, very unique and looks reall cool! To be honest I did not have high expectations on purchasing this product ever since my previous Asus router was defective. But I decided to give it a try while keeping the receipt in case of any issues, and I'm happy to say that there was no need for any returns. This thing is a beast with powerful signal and plenty strong to withstand lots of devices and consoles connected all at once. Our internet provider gives us 400mbps. During a speed test, while on the pc connected via ethernet cable, it gave us a reading of 455mbps for download, 23mbps for upload, and 10 ping, exceeding our expectations. A great product for heavy Wi-Fi users, and gamers alike! We have not experienced any lag, high ping, nor random Wi-Fi drops. Absolutely worth purchasing! I hope this thing will continue to be a beast for years to come!

I bought 2 of these routers. The first one was purchased last year to address shortcomings in coverage for my 2 story home with large distances from the router.
I originally paired it with a N66U ASUS router to extend my networks range. However a lightning storm killed the old router and as a result I have now purchased a second one of these. They now act as a DUO with one as an ASUS Ai Mesh Node to the second.
I have strong signal strength throughout the house wirelessly now and the router function as a mesh with both 1 GB Ethernet backbone and over 5GHz backhaul channel if the hard line uplink fails.
Connection quality is seamless throughout the 4000 sqft house with the range extending all the way down by the pool deck. All our devices migrate seamlessly between the mesh nodes as expected without a drop in speed or quality.
I have Mediacom, my speed very based on their service, not my equipment. But I have stead 500 to 800 MB down throughout the day over the Dual Band network of the 2GHz/5GHz management by the routers. Streaming anywhere in the house or working from home of wired or wireless is very efficient now.
Highly recommend these routers. The UI is very robust and easy to navigate whether you are a novice or an experienced network planner.
My last ASUS Router lasted for more than a decade and only had to be swapped out due to aging radio tech and an unfortunate power surge. ASUS makes products that last.
