I am coming from a Google Wifi. I have had that mesh since the original OnHub. It was time for an upgrade when I found this guy. It does the work of my entire mesh plus some! I have 400 Mbs up and down from the farthest corner and it's in the other corner. Excellent range, good throughput, and the set up was a breeze. If your house is under 2000 sq feet, this will do all you need it to. It's even capable of adding a node to it if needed for a basement or second floor. Highly recommend this over most mesh systems out there!!

I bought 2 of these routers. The first one was purchased last year to address shortcomings in coverage for my 2 story home with large distances from the router. I originally paired it with a N66U ASUS router to extend my networks range. However a lightning storm killed the old router and as a result I have now purchased a second one of these. They now act as a DUO with one as an ASUS Ai Mesh Node to the second. I have strong signal strength throughout the house wirelessly now and the router function as a mesh with both 1 GB Ethernet backbone and over 5GHz backhaul channel if the hard line uplink fails. Connection quality is seamless throughout the 4000 sqft house with the range extending all the way down by the pool deck. All our devices migrate seamlessly between the mesh nodes as expected without a drop in speed or quality. I have Mediacom, my speed very based on their service, not my equipment. But I have stead 500 to 800 MB down throughout the day over the Dual Band network of the 2GHz/5GHz management by the routers. Streaming anywhere in the house or working from home of wired or wireless is very efficient now. Highly recommend these routers. The UI is very robust and easy to navigate whether you are a novice or an experienced network planner. My last ASUS Router lasted for more than a decade and only had to be swapped out due to aging radio tech and an unfortunate power surge. ASUS makes products that last.

I normally don't write reviews for a product. But I want to give some details of my experience in hopes of helping someone who is looking for a new router. We've had this router for about 2 months now and so far have had no issues with it. Here's a little bit of my experience with this router so far.. We have 2 Xboxs, 2 Nintendo Switches, 2 smart TVS, 5 smartphones, and a gaming PC and this router can handle that and more! Speeds are excellent, especially when hardwired. We live in a large size home with a large lot and the signal range is fantastic, easily reaching the back and front yard. I play wirelessly in my bedroom which is down the hall from the router's location, and even with our concrete filled walls, I've never experience any random lag spikes. I recently had a LAN party where there was a total of 7 Xboxs connected wirelessly, as well as all of the other devices mentioned above, and it handled all of that with no problem and not a single console lagged. Downloading and uploading is fast (also depending on your internet provider speeds). Huge plus on the RGB design, very unique and looks reall cool! To be honest I did not have high expectations on purchasing this product ever since my previous Asus router was defective. But I decided to give it a try while keeping the receipt in case of any issues, and I'm happy to say that there was no need for any returns. This thing is a beast with powerful signal and plenty strong to withstand lots of devices and consoles connected all at once. Our internet provider gives us 400mbps. During a speed test, while on the pc connected via ethernet cable, it gave us a reading of 455mbps for download, 23mbps for upload, and 10 ping, exceeding our expectations. A great product for heavy Wi-Fi users, and gamers alike! We have not experienced any lag, high ping, nor random Wi-Fi drops. Absolutely worth purchasing! I hope this thing will continue to be a beast for years to come!

Lots of nice to have features, Wifi 6 works flawlessly. Aesthetically pleasing and has some very impressive range for a device of this size. Setup was so simple, I literally did it half-awake. Per-device configurations for streaming/gaming/etc is also super great for optimizing the devices in my household

This router is at a summer house. I have never failed to connect to my security cameras which I was able to do previously. First test for coverage was a little disappointing. Based on reviews and specs I had hoped to eliminate the use of a wifi extender to reach a boat dock but the first test failed. I will test again when we return this spring but expect to need the extender. This router is being used with newly deployed internet service. Neighbors have had issues with nighthawk routers. This Asus has been flawless.

Excellent router for the price. Ipv6 works great and easy to make some custom rules. The 160mhz channel width has my 5ghz at near gigabit speeds. Great for streaming my gaming PC and Plex server to all my devices. App is super handy and all the settings at your finger tips. Never had a slow down or major issue.

Purchased this to replace an old Asus router that was failing. Very similar user interface to the one I had, quick and easy to set up. Significantly better range than my old one - was able to remove a repeater I had been using for years. So far zero issues - highly recommend!

I purchased this router to replace a Nest Wifi mesh system in my house. I really liked the Google Nest WiFi but my son was having issues with ping spikes while playing first person shooter games on his Xbox Series X. My entire house is networked with Cat 6 cabling but because of only having one port on the Nest WiFi, I had to run everything through network switches. With this Asus RT-AX82U, I not only get three additional ports that I can send to other devices in my house, but port 1 on the back is a dedicated "Gaming Port" with automatic device priortization. It took a little bit of time to set this up the way that I wanted, but as of now it is working just the way that I need it. I separated my 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz networks so that I could put my smart home devices that are spread out around my house on the 2.4Ghz network and all of my mobile devices that move around and can take advantage of the faster speeds offered by this frequency on the 5Ghz network. After all of my devices were connected I went into the app and named all of the devices so that I know which ones are online and what data is being used by them. I also like that you are able to limit the bandwidth on every single device that is on the network. This is a good idea if you are looking to maximize the amount of bandwidth that your streaming devices use while limiting speed to less important things like thermostats and smart plugs. I am looking forward to purchasing another router or two in the summer and setting up a mesh network using the aimesh system so that I can extend my covered out into my pole barn. I am quite confident that this will work well as all of the Asus products that I have used have never let me down.

As odd as it may seem, sometimes mesh systems are overkill. I know they are the latest and greatest, but when I downsized from my 3000 sqft, 2 story home to an 1800 sqft, single story, my Netgear Orbi began giving me tons of issues. Dropping connections constantly even though my hardwired PC showed no problems with my internet or ISP. Did some research and found that mesh can be overkill in small spaces because your devices are constantly swapping between the node and satellite which are in too close proximity in too small a space. I got this to replace it and am very glad I did. 10+ devices connected at all times, putting out higher than advertised speeds via WiFi. I have 100% coverage throughout the house and my front and back yards. Very powerful, looks great. Installation was the easiest I've done in years. Quite literally took less than 5 minutes from opening the box to having a fully functioning unique network. The app is perfect. No account creation required. No registration. Just download the app, plug it in, and go.

Love my ASUS - RT-AX82U router! Recommended for use with my Greenlight fiber network and it works perfectly. Setup was simple and absolutely no issues. Love the ASUS iPhone app that gives the network status and what is connected. WiFi signal strength is so good I was able to move the router to the basement without issues.
