The RT-AX86S is another great entry into the Asus router family. The mesh system works very well and is so simple to add additional units as you need to expand coverage. Range is excellent along with signal reliability.

I bought an RT-AX86S last July and used it without issues until mid-December when the radio signal dropped to -80 dBm or worse even when sitting only a meter from the router. I reached out to ASUS for support on December 13 letting them know the exact nature of the weak signal. I followed all instructions I was given from modifying the WiFi configuration, performing several hard resets, providing system/wifi logs and config dumps, and signal strength values around the house. We demonstrated the issue was a problem with the router broadcasting a weak signal as opposed to interference issues because I got great signal from my neighbors who lived further away. This took several weeks because ASUS warranty support strings along customers with promises of responses in 24-48 hours, ignores those promises, and when customers call in to ask for a status all they are told is to expect a response in another 24-48 hours. I insisted on an advance RMA because I use this router for work only to be told that they had no stock to support an advanced RMA. I asked for a new-in-box replacement and was told there wasn't stock for that, either. At this point it has been a full seven weeks since I opened my case, 4 weeks since support confirmed that my router was defective, and two weeks since my advance RMA was approved. After waiting a week to get a replacement "allocated" I was told to wait another five to seven business days. That was a week ago. Do not buy an ASUS router. Their support will string you along, ignore you, and do nothing unless you drag them kicking and screaming to honor their warranty.

Easy to set up. Works seamlessly with my modem. Purchased a Netgear prior to this. So much trouble to set up and recognize my modem, I had to bring it back to the store for an exchange.

Router works great. I have 2 laptops 3 phones, DirecTv with three receivers, and a Playstation spread over three floors of my house and they all receive a consistent signal.

I could give this product less stars I would do it in a heart beat. The speeds listed haven't lived up to as promised. The router started having problems over several months dropping connections and then coming back. Finally it just died and ASSU customer service was awful. Two weeks to get it sent back, another few weeks before sending it back with another 10 days to receive it back. I was doubtful but didn't listen to my gut. Never again.

I’ve had this router for a little less than a month and so far it’s been smooth sailing. Very easy set up and much faster speeds than my Nighthawk

A bit complex to set up and get running. Wireless transfer was very low to start out with {80 megs on a 400 meg internet plan). I figured out that by turning off the Smart Connect for dual band and giving the 2.4 and 5 Ghz name separate names then allowing the devices to connect to the one they use, the speeds then corrected themselves. 5 Ghz went up to nearly 350 ish megs but 2.4 Ghz stayed at 80 megs. Still think the 2.4 Ghz should be faster than that though. Jury is still out on the rest of the performance, such as range, stable connection, etc

This router is awesome! Looks great, is easy to set up, and has great coverage. The dedicated gaming port is a nice feature as well.

bought this cause i needed a new and updated router. so far it is everything as expected. the price was right. i’m glad i found this deal

So far an absolutely flawless experience. I replaced a Netgear X6 8000 that started flaking out on a daily basis with horrible speeds I attribute to bad firmware and was looking for any non-Netgear router. I have a number of Wi-Fi 6 devices now and am able to take advantage of the blistering Wi-Fi speeds this router offers.

Bought this router based on a youtube review by GuruHW (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-sFhVbN9Hh8) stating that the WiFi performance is similar as the more expensive RT-AX86U and it did not disappoint. Sure it might only have a dual core cpu and 512MB ram, but that is more than sufficient for most users unless you have multi-gig internet.

I am a big ASUS router fan. Tons of features and company keeps updates fresh. Love the smart app, very easy to use.

I love this Asus Router. It is powerful and I use a few of it in the Mesh Network to cover my two-story house. It is also super easy to setup.

Easy to set up and has never failed. Very reliable even with multiple devices streaming throughout a multi-level home. Highly recommend!

Bought it as an upgrade to my old RT-AC68U. The performance is much better. The promotion is additional plus!

First of all I'm computer and electronic illiterate. Thing has lots of specs and features I'm slowly learning as I go. Linked to my tablet and can block or limit users from router. Can make adjustments to features I've managed to learn. Receiving wi-fi signal more then 80 yards from my home. Like the look a lot, not a fan of the upside down crab router.

I used this to replace a SonicWall router that couldn't keep up with my 600MBs internet connection. This resolved not only the general LAN bottleneck, it also improved the WIFI bottleneck as well. I did disable WIFI since I was using a different WIFI6 solution purchased at the same time. The product is good but the interface and organization is cluttered and not well thought out. I did have to redo my NAT redirections and it took multiple times to save it.

I’ve had this router for about 3 months now and love it. Extremely fast and works with spectrum Modems.

Much more reliable than Netgear. Better UI too. Definitely sticking with Asus routers from now on.
