This brought the amazing wifi6 to my whole household. Now I can see the little 6 next to my wifi bars and it feels awesome. Setting it up was nice and they didn't force me to make an account with them which linksys does and is super annoying. I have always been a linksys fan, but I'm glad I switched. Bye bye linksys. Keep your accounts.

Works well, although the lack of storage and ram hamstrings it's potential to be great especially in this price point.

I was constantly having to reboot my iPhone and android tablet. Since I’ve upgraded the router the refresh rate is almost instantaneous, much, much faster and I haven’t had to reboot a device to get the internet to load while connecting with the wi-fi signal and it covers the whole house.

Router works perfect in a 2-bedroom apartment. No lagging, no issues whatsoever handling 1G of Verizon fios.
Setup was a breeze and the phone app is easy to navigate for a non-techie like me.

love the product, and so far no complaint about the router, we have it in an office building and we run approximately 5 computers and 2 printers with no problem. It is easy to set up the modem.

With 4 people, gaming, work-from-home-ing, and general millenial use in a 2 story townhome, i didn't want the router to be a reason we couldn't get a thing done. Procrastinated with sufficient internet use, it was a solid buy.

I'm just going to put 4 stars as I had a VERY difficult time setting this up. I ended up returning it after.
I think I was doing something wrong, or I didn't have a certain thing to set it up, but assuming I did set it up, it's probably a great router.

Great router in terms of signal strength and range for my about 1000 sqft apartment. Definitely overkill for now but I plan on holding onto this for awhile and with the feature set it has there should be no problem using it for a 3+ years.

Ok, so this review may sound a little confusing, because although I am having issues with my smart home devices on the 2.4ghz band of the 86S, the wired and Wi-Fi 6 performance, at least for me, makes up for it. This is my second go at WiFi 6. My first attempt was with a ASUS 11000 and it was awful. The router would reboot randomly, etc. But this is not a review for that. With this router, for a little over 3 weeks after installing, my smart home had no complaints. Then this past Monday, I started having smart home devices fall off of the network. I would restart the smart home device, and it would not reconnect. I had to restart the router to resolve the problem, at least until the next time it happened. After 2 days of troubleshooting (as luck would have it, I was on Christmas vacation), I wasn’t able to determine a root cause. I tried separating the 2.4 & 5ghz band thinking it was some kind of handshake issue, but that didn’t work. 2.4ghz devices still dropped off the network once a day or so. I set the router that I had replaced with this device back up as a 2.4ghz Wi-Fi hotspot by itself, and moved all of my smart home devices back to it. No issues since late Wednesday afternoon. Wi-Fi 6 and LAN reliability and performance are both superb, but 2.4ghz backward compatible? I am not so sure. 802.11ac and ax work great, but any standard before that so far hasn’t been able to maintain and stable connection.

This router works great, with easy admin UI and web app. I haven’t seen connection issues or random drops. Only major annoyance I have is, RT-AX86S sets it’s own IP as DNS address along with the one you have set on DHCP settings. This breaks pi-hole DNS based ad blocking, as now all DHCP clients has two DNS addresses, and one of them is router’s address which will circumvent pi-hole. I believe flashing with Merlin firmware allows you fix this problem. All the routers I owned in last 15 years has done it correctly out of the box, I wonder why ASUS decided to remove a feature that works well.
