An Amazing Gaming Experience
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Asus TUF monitor makes my gaming experience feel amazing. All of the animations and pans are stutter and tear-free. With a 165Hz refresh rate, everything looks so smooth, without using artificial framerate enhancers, such as motion smoothing. This means that anything you watch on this monitor will look amazing, regardless of the speed at which the objects or camera are moving. This monitor also features a 1ms response time, which means that this amazing display can keep up with the motion of even the fastest video games or sporting events. It is important to note that this is NOT a 4K monitor, however, this doesn't really matter since the screen is less than 50", which is the size that your average person will start to see a difference between HD and 4K. With 2 HDMI connections and 1 DisplayPort connection, It can easily be used on your PC, and two consoles. The monitor is able to tilt forward and backwards, to help alleviate glare from overhead lights, which is also very welcome feature.

Excellent budget gaming monitor
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The ASUS TUF 23.8" is a great budget gaming monitor. Simple to hook up and good (mostly) build quality. I say mostly because overall it seems well built, but I'm not so sure about the buttons & joystick controller. They feel a bit flimsy. However, I don't think most people will be using these all that much. I suspect most will rarely touch these controls again once they have it set how they like it. The stand is nice and I love the ability to tilt. Not all less expensive monitors have that. Performance wise, it's excellent. The IPS LED FreeSync panel gives bright, accurate colors that are vibrant and sharp. The 1920x1080 resolution is not a problem considering the roughly 24" size. You really don't need more than that for a small gaming monitor. But the star of the show is the 165Hz refresh rate. That combined with the screen size gives you an amazing gaming experience. No ghosting or blurring of any kind. And lets face it, that's what a gaming monitor is all about. Two HDMI and a single DisplayPort should be fine for most. Although a USB-C would have been nice seeing as it is the future, but we need to remember the price point. Overall this is an outstanding bargain for a brand name gaming monitor that can handle whatever you toss at it.

Great dorm room/portable monitor. NO HDR
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Asus packs a lot of great features in the VG247QR1A monitor that checks a lot of boxes for gamers. 165Hz capable, 60/120Hz modes for console gamers, blue light tech to help eye strain, FreeSync, an attractively thin bezel, easy to access controls for settings, two HDMI 1.4 ports, one DisplayPort 1.2 input and a headphone jack. I like that there isn’t a USB option as it is the least used option I’ve had available on any monitor I have ever owned. Also, NO HDR. As this is a Full HD (1920x1080) monitor, you’re almost certain to be able to get performance beyond 120 FPS even with a mid-tier computer. Prices are coming down slightly as demand wanes and products continue to be readily available off the shelf. But there are a lot of people out there still pushing 10 series GPU’s and the like. That’s a nearly 6 year old GPU line that can still deliver great performance on beloved titles with high framerates. That’s where this monitor shines. It delivers great performance with all the right options built in for getting the last bits of goodness out of older hardware than can push 1080p at higher framerates but not quite 1440p. If you have hardware that can do more, look at higher end options. Don’t leave performance on the table.

Good Monitor
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got switched to this from a TV with only 60 Hz and i sinply cant go back. This is really beginner friendly as it comes at 165 Hz out the box without overclocking. The monitor's visuals are amazing and are rich in color. If you want a monitor for gaming and creator work this will get the job done just fine. Definitely worth the price and will probably get a second one.

Great portable gaming monitor!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This gaming monitor is my favorite to date. It is very portable and comes with the inputs that work with my computers and laptops. I used it with the HDMI however on one of my gaming computers I plan on using the display port. Installing the stand it only requires a thumb screw so no tools required which is always nice. You could mount to a mounting system if you want to mount multiple monitors together as it does have the compatible mounting system on the back. Once you connect this to a computer the colors on this monitor really do stand out. I have had other monitors that I thought the color was vibrant but on this monitor it was even more. There are settings you can play with to adjust to what you prefer. The one feature I really enjoyed was a setting that brightened your game. I always wondered if some gamers had visual enhancement features as I was playing a game that has night and with the feature Shadow Boost I could see my targets way more clearer than I had on my other monitor. I understand if some people feel that is cheating but if other gamers are using it I feel it is evening the playing field. The last setting feature I really enjoy is the blue light setting as I am getting older and notice I get eye fatigue more than when I was younger so I have been using blue light settings recently which helps with my issue. This is a great monitor and plan on purchasing more monitors with these features.

Great Budget Monitor

Its a perfectly "fine" monitor
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had high expectations with this monitor. I am pairing this with my ASUS G10CE desktop, and tried it with both the display port and the HDMI. The refresh rate definitely helps make it feel smooth and the resopnse time felt on spot for my old man reflexes. However, no matter what option I played around with I could still see ghosting. I just ignored it and enjoyed Halo and CS GO on it. Coming from a 60hz monitor, the difference is immediately noticable, and I don't think I can ever go back. There are a few gripes I have with it though. I am not sure why this has NO height adjustment - its just crazy to me that they couldn't add that in, it makes my viewing experience less than ideal ergonomically. I will have to find a book or two to keep it on top of. I found the control buttons and meny a bit clunky to use as well. These along with the ghosting effect I mentioned above make it fall smack dab in the average category. If you are coming from a non high refresh rate monitor this is definitely an upgrade. But I am sure there are better monitors out there which offer the high refresh rate with better image quality. Its not return worthy, but its not a sure shot recommendation either.

This Asus is ‘TUFer’ than the competition…
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This screen is so vivid with its 3500:1 static contrast and 350 nits of brightness. Blacks have ink levels of depth and colors just pop. Saturation a d sharpness settings allow you to tweak the picture exactly how you like it. 1 ms response times a d 165 hz offers max speed. The full HD resolution is perfect on this 24 inch screen and everything looks razor sharp. Asus has always made great monitors and this gaming series monitor is exceptional. TUF is top shelf and this monitor shows just that. Great price as well for just $129. I am sure they will go quickly.

Decent, but underwhelming.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I guess I kind of expected more from this monitor, so I might be being a little harsh on it. Overall it seems like a really decent monitor, but I didn't feel like it lived up to the marketing. First, it has a great back light. I had to look really hard to see any back light bleed, and even then I could only see it from certain angles you wouldn't normally be viewing the screen from. The contrast ratio is really good also. The whites get super bright, and the dark scenes get nice and inky black. There is some pretty noticeable banding in the shadows though with obvious jagged edges, and squares instead of smooth gradients. I noticed the same thing with colors as well. Although they are bright and very vibrant, the banding effect was distracting in slow moving videos. In faster moving videos and gaming it wasn't noticeable hardly at all, but on web pages, and other still content it jumps out at you. I was disappointed in the instructions that came with my monitor. I only got a quick start guide, and a warranty/registration booklet. The controls on the monitor are simple enough though, and I was able to plod my way through them intuitively. The speakers inside the monitor don't get very loud, but because of that they also don't distort when turned all the way up. The refresh rate is listed as 165hz, but my computer said it was only a 60 hz display. I tried using the monitors internal FPS counter, but it sat at 60 fps no matter how fast or slow the game ran. I ran the Tomb Raider built in bench mark, and was getting performance between 45 fps and 90 fps, but the screen stayed displaying 60. The screen also advertises 1ms response time, and claims to have reduced motion blur. But that was not my experience. If I moved my cursor even slowly I could see the image on the screen trying to catch up, showing multiple cursors chasing each other. It also had bad motion blur with fast moving video scenes. Another negative about the screen and picture quality is back light blooming / Halo around bright objects. My screen doesn't halo, but it blooms downwards and to the right a good half to 3/4 of an inch when bright objects are on a dark back ground. One last nit pick I have is that it doesn't seem to play nicely with my lap top. Which Ironically is also made by Asus so it should work with no issues but it acts funny when I first wake my lap top up from sleep, or power it on. The screen comes on and off several times, making the laptop screen go on and off, resize, and kinda get wonky for a minute or two before they both settle down and both show my desk top. I even had to unplug the HDMI cable from my lap top one time to get it to stop cutting on and off. Overall it's a good looking monitor. The stand was easy to install but I wish it telescoped to raise the screen up. You will need a monitor stand for this unless you're pretty short or just prefer to stare downwards at your screen. The bezels are really small on 3 of the 4 edges. The build quality appears to be really good as well. I think it's an ok product, but I feel like they skimped on the features that matter in a good gaming monitor maybe so they could hit a lower price point. There are definitely a lot better gaming monitors out there, but you'll also pay a lot more money for them. I guess this is ok if you're a beginner or casual gamer. In conclusion, it's a decent monitor. I'm not sure if it lives up to the hype

Posted .Dear Chris,
It's unfortunate to hear that you were unable to to achieve the required refresh rate as advertised. We do value our customers and take negative customer service experience very seriously. Please note that via HDMI this Monitor only supports up to 144Hz. To enable 165Hz a Display Port connection is required. Have you tried to confirm if your Laptop supports higher refresh rates via HDMI? Regarding the Extreme Low Motion blur advertised would need to be enabled in the Monitor's On-screen Display menu. Please attempt the steps from the FAQ below.
