Really difficult to beat this device from a price standpoint. I purchased this laptop as a secondary device to have alongside a PS5 this year, primarily for Xbox Game Pass and hobbyist video editing. For those purposes, the device can definitely hold its own.
Build quality is a good quality plastic. There is some keyboard flex if intentionally applied, but nothing crazy. Full RGB, customizable lighting on the keyboard.
The fans do get quite loud, especially under load, but I personally wasn't bothered by that with headphones on.
Tested several games. Dishonored 2, GhostRunner, and Sunset Overdrive all run at or near 1080p/60 fps with a mix of high settings, although I did experience a few dips while playing Dishonered. Competitive games, such as Apex Legends and Valorant, have zero issue running at a locked 60 fps with everything maxed out, and could probably run them at higher rates if needed for an external monitor (display is 60 hrz). Internal temperatures do tend to get warm, but nothing uncomfortable at the main WASD touchpoints.
As long as your expectations are tempered, you should be satisfied with the device. I purchased on sale for $600, and I can't imagine beating this in the PC space at that price.

This is a nice little laptop. I bought it to replace a Dell Inspiron 7657. Though the specs on this machine are slightly better in the graphics area, it severely lacks in the storage. How a gaming company can sell a gaming computer that will only hold a couple of games is beyond me. It loses a star for storage.
It plays games just fine. I play RDR2 on high settings and it's also light enough to carry around for school work. It's slim build is very plastic, but it does feel very sturdy. The screen is decent. It's all pretty decent. But it loses another star because the fan is drastically louder than my old laptop when playing games. In school work, it never gets that loud, but I have to use headphones to overcome the sound of the fan when gaming.
It's DECENT and for the price, I guess that's what we can hope for. But my old laptop (RIP) was superior and also of similar price rage. This will do the job, though.

Dear Zmormac,
I'm sorry to hear that you are unsatisfied with the storage capacity and fan noise of your laptop. This is certainly not the kind of experience that we want any of our customers to have. Your model has expansion slots available for both an M.2 drive and a 2.5" SATA drive for additional storage, and we do offer laptops with larger storage options. Please see the attached upgrade guide for more information. Regarding your fan noise concern, I will forward your feedback to the Product team for review. Please see the attached upgrade guide for more information. If you have any general or technical questions, please email me at [email protected] and include case #N2101016393 for reference.
Thank you for choosing ASUS!

This laptop checks all the boxes in it's price category. Its build quality is excellent the screen is beautiful maybe abeit a touch dim in direct sunlight. The 1050 ti does well enough to play all your favorite games. I personally played through a good portion of Horizon Zero Dawn and quite a few matches of Warzone on this machine and it did superbly. Its easily upgradable there is a free memory slot and m.2 nvme compatible slot. Battery life for watching movies is actually decent I watched nearly 3 full length movies before need a charge at medium brightness and no background tasks running. The machine is snappy in office apps and the i5 is quite punchy for the base model. The key board is quite good and was able to type a few documents without longing for my home desktop. The cooling is great for a thin machine the fans ramp up under heavy loads as expected and the profiles are adjustable using Asus built in software. The temps stayed surprisingly cool never getting over mid 70s during gaming in my use case. Overall the machine is a bargain at this price point especially when compared to it's rivals.

I ordered this laptop Open-Box Excellent and ended up paying around $670 for it, it was delivered extremely fast, it came around 8 PM the day after I ordered it and I had chosen free two day delivery, so it coming early with no extra payments was a pleasant surprise. I love this laptop, it runs all my games (Roblox, the Sims 4, Minecraft, Among Us, Danganronpa) perfectly fine. The only thing that I would say I don’t like about it is that the fan is usually very loud when I have lots of things open and running, but since I usually use it with headphones it doesn’t affect things that much. For reference, the things I usually have open and running concurrently are Roblox, Origin, Steam, Discord, and Chrome. I haven’t had many issues with lag or slowness. The graphics aren’t as good as I wish they would be at times, but I am very satisfied with this laptop for the price I paid. Would recommend as a starter gaming laptop or to people who just want to run lower-end games. The rainbow keyboard is also very fun! If you install an ASUS app off of the Microsoft store, you can also change the keyboard color and lighting style.

Very nice looking laptop, feels great as well did a unboxing video https://youtu.be/N6_ABuu3PdA, this is running Fortnite at around 80fps when connected to power source Epic settings and 55-60fps in Cold War on Med/Low settings. This is great for a pc gaming beginner or even intermediate. Storage is a must to upgrade and so is memory from 8gb to 16gb. The display isn’t all too bad, it is a 60hz display, but after all I got it on sale for $599. Is it worth $799? Personally no, but on sale for $599, yes.

A business laptop in disguise!

I'll say straight away that I purchased this laptop during the pandemic. A shift to teleworking proved that my 10 year old laptop was growing long in the tooth, as my organization often holds large virtual meetings and I was the guy whose computer was often lagging too far behind or frozen entirely. I was practically unable to provide any input in our meetings.
With the pandemic came a spike in prices on technology, and I quickly found myself looking at gaming laptops... which for some reason absorbed the smallest blow to supply/demand related price hikes. Truthfully I have little need for any sort of product marketed toward gamers, but nonetheless, I couldn't deny the value this laptop offered in price-for-performance, and am now the proud owner of an FX506.
Just because I don't *need* the performance this little laptop has to offer doesn't mean I won't put it to work. The most recent pc game I own, honestly, is Witcher III. I am pleased to report that this laptop will run Witcher III on High settings relatively effortlessly, but at Medium settings it runs absolutely flawlessly. Currently, my custom built (2017) gaming desktop offers the same level of performance with a little more money in the initial investment.
Needless to say my virtual meetings are a walk in the park for this laptop. Considering prices for "business laptops" right now, you would be a fool not to consider gaming laptops for your business needs, presently.
Long story short, I love this laptop. It's the right size. The screen is gorgeous. The performance is amazing for the price. The battery life for doing normal business applications is pretty good. It's also pretty sharp looking, to boot.
I have no complaints, though a disk drive would have been nice.

I needed a laptop to use for heavy video editing, photo editing as well as something to maybe lightly game on. After doing some research I stumbled across this laptop, and WOW the render times on Premiere Pro are lighting fast and for sometimes beat out the times compared to my PC tower at home. Also at a bonus I found myself being able to play titles like Valorant at 144+ FPS no problem! The build quality is solid, the keyboard is smooth and the rgb lighting ties in perfectly. The only thing I would say is sometimes the trackpad can get a little wonky, but other than that the laptop is great and I highly recommend!

Nice laptop, good gaming performance just needed to add an extra stick of ram (16gb is a must in 2021). I wish it came with more storage though (500gb would have been better). It has an open Nvme slot and SSD drive bay if you wish to add more storage. That said it plays modern games well with proper settings @1080p. The screen is bright enough to get the job done and refresh rate is 60hz. Has fast wifi and plenty of USB ports (4). The CPU and GPU run fast and quiet compared to other gaming laptops I've tried. The Asus TUF FX506L is a great laptop for the price, highly recommended for anyone on a budget. I love the RGB lit keyboard.

I’ve own this laptop closer to 3 years now and it has been great. For an avid gamer who is on the go or staying home for long gaming sessions it has done its job.
I play Warframe a lot which is a particle and effect heavy game. It perfoms well On COD MW, Fortnite, amongst other games.
At times I play 4 - 6 hrs and it does great when plugged in and in Turbo mode. I highly recommend this product.

This laptop has a pretty nice mid-level configuration, and the price was very reasonable. Picked it up for $599 at the holidays. I definitely recommend upgrading the memory to at least 16 GB. My biggest complaint is that the fan runs constantly. Game play and overall system performance is very reasonable for the price, but the fan is pretty obnoxious. The keyboard lighting is pretty slick, and is highly customizable. The build is all plastic, but feels pretty rugged. This is a good choice for a teen or college student.

This is a great laptop for the price. If you are someone who prefers a laptop than can multitask and run some intensive tasks (video editing, GIS mapping, heavy data processing), while being able to play the latest games (albeit not in 4K or Ultra settings), get this laptop. I got this laptop mainly for my GIS work, and some graphic design and it works great for those purposes.
The build quality is excellent. I think this is what sets it apart from other competitors in this price range, like the Acer Nitro 5. Even though it is a gaming laptop, it is not very bulky and it relatively sleek. It is very sturdy, the keyboard is very comfortable to type on, and the monitor (60Hz) does the job. I was very impressed with the cooling as well. Unless you play graphics intensive games for 5+ hours, this thing will not heat up a whole lot.
The GTX 1650-Ti is an entry level graphics card, so expect to run most recent AAA games like Assassin's Creed Valhalla on medium to high settings and 1080p. The older games run better. For reference, it can run Hitman(2016) at 60fps in High settings.

This laptop is perfect for casual gaming. I run the Sims with mods/cc on Ultra settings and the game works beautifully. The fan can run a little loud, but it is quiet enough to not wake my sleeping baby. The keys are smooth, the screen is wide, and the back lighted keys are customizable, though I prefer to let them flash through the colors.

Considering the price of video cards, at the time I bought this laptop it was great bang for the buck, and still is. Got one for each of my kids, threw in a 500GB SSD in addition to the 256GB OS SSD, and kids use it for school and gaming. The screen is actually very nice 1080p, albeit only 60Hz refresh. But considering the GPU, most newer games at high settings will hover around 60FPS anyhow.
The RGB on it is a bit much, but it's easy enough to disable. It can get a bit loud with fan noise when gaming, but just wear headphones and you don't notice. I have this hooked up to an external monitor and mouse/keyboard for my kids, so it makes a great desktop replacement, but just unplug and go when needed.
Battery life is actually pretty decent too. My son was playing a game (Overwatch) at our kitchen table for a couple hours and I thought he had plugged in, but was running on battery and it still had over 30% battery life left.
It has all the ports you really need, but more USB ports would be welcome, but sufficient for the price point. HDMI, USB, gigabit ethernet.

Bought this laptop as a dual purpose for gaming and writing my books. I’ve had it for about a year now, and it’s still chugging strong!
Love the performance on the games I play, and beautiful visuals. My friends normally have troubles playing our open world games on higher graphics, even on desktop PCs, and have to turn theirs’ down. I cranked mine up to “realistic” and haven’t once had a trouble. My internet is back woods patchy, so that has to say something.
When playing a game, sometimes the fan can be a little loud and distracting, but it’s nothing very big to complain about and it’s comforting to know the fan is doing it’s job. Taking it out of performance mode and doing smaller tasks like my writing is virtually silent.

Love it!!! I bought this for personal use and work. I wasn't looking for a gaming computer, but the specs on this are great: wifi-6, great camera for Zoom/Team Meetings, great sharpness for watching videos/movies, excellent sound, sharp graphics for photo editing, etc. I hosted a webinar using this computer and it went without a hitch. Office works flawlessly, great internet surfing, excellent sound, etc. I upgraded the system to include a 2.5 SATA SSD and 16 GBs of RAM. I upgraded from a Dell that was 5-6 years old and I'm just thrilled.

Based on price of $650. Very sturdy feeling computer. Keyboard has plenty of travel in the keys so typing feels. The backlighting is fun. The monitor is a matte anti glare screen. I don’t understand any complaints about the screen in other reviews, I really like it. I have loaded AutoCAD, full Microsoft suit, Zwift, and WarZone. It runs all of these programs well and I have 70Gb remaining on Hard drive. Planning to add additional 500gb m.2 and 8gb RAM. I use this more like a desktop so it’s fine for me but this thing will run through a battery very quickly. If what your doing is heavily using the graphics card don’t expect it to last much over an hour unplugged. Non performance tasks and battery saver will take you much further.
-glad I didn’t spend twice as much building a desktop.
