Will made and sturdy
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The PC is very well built and is on the heavy side since it is made to be rugged. The keyboard is full size and has the most used gaming keys highlighted and textured. The monitor looks really good and the 144hz screen makes fast action games smooth. Destiny2 and New World will run very well on the highest settings. Games such as Battlefield 2042 will have some performance issues on the highest settings, but run well on medium. It would be nice if came with 16GB of RAM and a larger harddrive than 513GB. The processor is powerful enough for all but the most demanding applications. These can be upgraded and I highly suggest for intense gaming. The speakers are good for a laptop and it is more of a desktop replacement than a portable PC. ASUS's 'TUF' line lives up to it's name in terms of durability. It is good enough for the casual gamer looking for a budget gaming laptop.

Great budget gamer
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Anyone looking for a good gaming laptop knows that prices & features can vary by a lot. Most do not need the top of the line machine costing thousands. But where is the perfect middle ground? The Asus TUF comes close. First, the presentation of the laptop. Build quality feels nice and sturdy. There is plenty of cooling vents. Keeping in mind that it is a 17" laptop, it still doesn't feel too heavy. I like the design. It has a cool design that tells you its a gaming machine without going overboard. Sound quality is good, but not the best I've ever heard. But more than good enough for a gaming laptop. Personally I like the RGB keyboard. The feel of the key strokes is a bit of a personal thing for most. I won't call the keys "squishy", but I wouldn't call it harsh either. I nice middle ground that most will be fine with. The RGB lighting is nice without being overbearing. Personally not into RGB that is distracting. The trackpad feels good & responsive. As for ports, it has pretty much everything you need. Fast USB, USB-C, HDMI, Ethernet & a two way audio port. The various USB ports are handy for attaching external hard drives. Like most laptops these days, you get a trade off with having a really fast smallish SSD (512GB) instead of a slower yet larger spinning drive. Not an issue for me as I like having multiple external drives. But honestly, for a gaming machine I think a larger traditional drive would have been better. However, you can always swap it out if needed. The i5 chip is fine for a gaming machine like this. Combined with the NVIDIA GTX 3050 TI games hum along smoothly. At least they do as long as you keep your expectations realistic. Remember how I mentioned those super expensive gaming machines that are out there? That's what you will need if you want to max out all the settings on the latest & greatest games. But, everything has a trade off. As long as you keep most recent games on medium to high (not max) settings, you shouldn't have any problems enjoying the best games. I have had no issues with "The Witcher 3" or "Grand Theft Auto V". So where are the trade offs that make this a budget gamer? Well, as I already mentioned it is only an i5. It only has a 512GB SSD. The 3050 TI is a very good graphics card but it is certainly not top of the line. But there are two other things that let it down a bit but both can be overcome. The 8GB of RAM is really small. It will work fine for many games, but upgrading to 16GB should be on your short list of things to do. Luckily, memory is very cheap so this shouldn't be a big deal. Second, the screen. On the plus side the screen is a FHD 144hz screen. Both of those specs are perfect for gaming. The downside is that the screen is rather dim ( I believe it is 250 Nits) and the colors leave a bit to be desired both in accuracy and punch. Now again, this is a budget gamer so this shouldn't come as a surprise. This is about what you will find for a screen on most budget gamers. But, it's something to be aware of particularly if you plan to use this for anything other than gaming. But keep in mind that if you connect it to an external monitor none of this matters. I use it connected to my LG 4K 27" and it looks great. Can I recommend this gamer? Absolutely! When it comes to budget gaming machines this is probably the best I've seen. Again, any budget gamer is going to have compromises. It's all about where those compromises are made. And over all, I think this Asus TUF strikes an excellent balance of specs, build and price.

The first laptop I have ever loved
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had my ASUS TUF Gaming Laptop for about a week now. I didn’t expect this machine to be a “high end” gaming device, so I was not disappointed when I discovered that some games it just can’t handle. This isn’t the most powerful PC I own, it’s not even the most powerful laptop I own. But I think it might just be my favorite portable device I have ever had the pleasure of utilizing. This is a good gaming laptop, but certainly not great. If you are looking to play games that are on the higher end of graphic and processing demands, I would say look for a more powerful device. ASUS itself has some really nice high end options. But it still works well for most games. Games like Minecraft, GTA, OOTPB and Civ 5 (on smaller maps) perform well enough for me. So it clearly has some processing power to it and will be fine to play the majority of games on. So Planet Coaster (smaller parks run fine) or epic Civ 5 games will still be regulated to my PC. That’s ok, so let me focus on what I loved about this laptop. The screen is quite large for a laptop at 17.3”. The brightness, high refresh rate and the graphic card in general are great. The resolution is FHD and not UHD but it is so smooth I’m ok not being full 4k. The speakers sound fantastic for a laptop, I found myself watching a lot of HD Star Wars (with its epic music!) clips the first day I had it. The keyboard layout doesn’t feel overly compacted like most laptops do to me. I’m 6’2” and have the appropriate large hands to match that frame and man do I appreciate the layout on this thing. And it’s not just the layout I love, It’s a beautifully back lit (customizable color patterns should you so desire) design with the core gamer keys of WASD wonderfully distinguished. The overall design also has found a beautiful sweet spot of feeling sturdy, but not too heavy. Load times are incredible quick. It’s just a few seconds from being turned off to up and running. Plenty of ports as well with 3 USB 3.1, an ETH, as well as an HDMI port. The WIFI connection also is solid as I can take this device a little further away from my router than my other laptops or phone and maintain a good connection. All in all this is a very solid mid tier plus gaming laptop and an all around awesome device. For the price I really think this is a great value for someone looking to get into a gaming laptop that will play most games well without getting too expensive. As well as performing any of the typical surfing, db, spreadsheet, or your secure communication app of choice like a champ. Oh I also tend to open tabs like a madman when I browse and have had no issues there either. I would absolutely recommend this device to a friend.

Just awesome for gaming
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.According to my son (contributor to this review), the big gamer at home. The ASUS TUF Gaming F17 is probably the best laptop he has ever used. First this is an ASUS computer, that is a guarantee of quality in the gaming industry. You have probably heard great things about ASUS computers, and he can confirm they the things you have heard are right. He will explain the major things like when you open the box, the specs, and some pros and cons. When you first open the box, you get a nice set of stickers to decorate the laptop, a congratulations for the purchase, the warranty card, safety precautions, a manual, and the 178 square in. laptop with its fairly long power cord. Once you charge the laptop and turn it on, the membrane keyboard flashes with aura RGB colors. There are some stickers next to the mouse pad that includes information like it has dual 83-blade fans, there is two-way AI noise-cancelation, it has a Nvidia Geforce GTX 1650 TI, the laptop it’s military grade (this is a must if you see the mistreatment of some games), it has WIFI 6 support, and a 2nd SSD slot. The keyboard is your average QWERTY keyboard with a keypad on the side. Finally, it has an ethernet port, an HDMI port, three USB ports, and one USB-C port. As I said before, it has a Nvidia Geforce GTX 1650 TI for a GPU, but it also has an Intel Core 17 10750H for a CPU, 453 GB of storage, and 90Wh that can sustain about 12.3 hours of video playback. In my “testing” I tried a lag test and it took about 6,050 parts loaded until the laptop got under 10 fps. Plus, there is a smooth 120Hz refresh rate and does not slow down when you add a second monitor. Finally, if you want to check up on how the computer is doing, you can go on the Armory Crate app that comes preinstalled which shows things like CPU stats, GPU stats, memory, fan speed, and many more. Now for pros and cons. Pro: The stickers that come included are genuinely well made and when I opened the box, my sister wanted three of them. They say things like “We got your back” and “Stay tough”. Con: I think it is a bit bulky for traveling and I don’t think I could bring it with me on a long trip. Pro: In other computers I have used, it was a bit hard to play online games with many people on one server, but this laptop handles it perfectly without any issues. Con: The manual doesn’t tell you anything more than telling you how to charge it and turn it on. It took me a while to figure out there were two apps supposed to help your usage. Maybe it would help if they said something about it in the manual. Pro: You will still have an amazing experience without another monitor or another keyboard. Without, the screen and keyboard are perfect for a gaming laptop. Con: Uhhhhhh… It is… I legitimately don’t have any other bad things. So far, I have just seen great things. I could probably find something horrible in like a month later but after a week of test, not the case. My son and I recommend this laptop for all, but notably for gamers.

ASUS – TUF Gaming 17.3” Laptop i5 Intel Core
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What you get. Windows 11 Home Edition 17.3 inch non touch screen 1920 X 1080 Full HD 11 Gen Intel(R) Core (TM) i5-11400H @ 2.70 GHz, 2688 Mhz, 6 Core(s) 12 Logical Processors x64 Based American Megatrends International Bios dtd 11/25/2021 NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti Laptop GPU 512 GB SSD with 1 expansion slot for another SSD Backlit Keyboard 8 gig DDR4 SoDIMM expandable to 32 gig. (2 16 gig cards) Wireless -AX Wi-Fi Ethernet 10/100/1000 1 HDMI output 4 USB Ports USB 3.1 Type A 3 USB 3.2 Type C 1 180-Watt power supply Lithium-ion 3 cell battery M.2 Slots 2 1 Camera front facing 720p Built-in microphone. Touch pad. 1-year parts and labor Warranty. Now most of this is mid-level gaming, but it still works, and does a good job. What needs upgrading: RAM to 16gb not single channel so change both sticks. Built-in camera, this is a total failure, the images are blurry. M.2 SSD what ever you can afford at least 1tb. External Mouse. What is good: RTX 3050ti GPU is great. No problems with game graphics, except during game play a Microsoft Update started and slowed the response time of the keyboard and touchpad. Turned off update and returned to normal. The multiple ports allow for adding devices at high speed to enhance the gaming experience. Customization of the RGB lights via the installed Armory Crate program. Weather you are a prolific gamer or just a beginner this system is a great start to the modern age of gaming. While some of me games have higher minimum requirements, they still played good enough for the children.

Useless, no WiFi
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Nice computer but the Wi-Fi won't work. The Bios is bad or something like it that the computer looses the ability to identify and connect to the Wi-Fi. I returned the laptop and got another one just like it because the other features are very good. But again, same issue, updating drivers won't help. I have to go to the BIOS and reset it continuously for the wifi to work. Beyond aggravating it renders the laptop useless.

The Best Laptop.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I may not have purchased this laptop on this account but on a different account I did but, I would 100% recommend this laptop. It is great for a pretty cheap gaming laptop with great gaming experience. The price may scare you but the game play won't. for $999, it's a wonderful deal. With the deal for saving $250, this was a actual steal. The 17 in screen is actually wonderful. Running smoothly with most AAA games. The GB can be upgraded to 32GB is actually a dream come true. The smooth 144 Hrtz with 720p camera is just out of this world. The Geforce RTX 3050 Ti is just great with this wonderful setup. The keyboard feels silk smooth and the fans sound can be silenced which is awesome. The name makes this sound wonderful and a mystical wonderland. The style of this laptop is just crazy and cool looking. Since I work-out, The 5 lb don't scare me and should scare anyone else. Where your hands rest when you type/play on the keyboard is super comfortable.

Good performance, easy setup, beginner friendly
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It runs well, and the fans aren't noisy, and the screen is a larger size I like. It plays higher end games at 60fps smoothly, some at 144fps. Haven't had any noticable slow downs as of now when multi tasking. The laptop itself is sturdy and not easily scratchable. It's easy to setup and will be ready within 5-10 minutes of its first startup. Perfect for those who want to get into gaming on PC and streaming on Twitch.

Powerful gaming rig. It gets a little toasty
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a pretty nice gaming rig. My kids and I have a lot of fun playing with it. The colors are vivid and the darks are crisp and sharp. The SSD drive is speedy and responsive and helps to make up for the lack of memory. No laptop, gaming or otherwise, should really have less than 16gb of memory unless all you are doing is browsing the internet. That is the reason for only 4 stars for me. I think game play would be better with16 or 32gb, but as this is the lower end of their offerings, I guess I shouldnt be too dissapointed. The only other thing of note is similar to most gaming laptops, this thing gets hot and by hot I mean really toasty. The fans help, but if you are using this, I definitely suggest sitting in on a hard surface and partially elevate the backend to help dissipate the heat.

Great Mid-Level Gaming Laptop
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First, ASUS does a good job packing this unit. The packaging is solid and everything is snug in it's place. No loose items in the box moving around that could get damaged. You might think this is the standard, but I have been surprised in the past. Outer box was a little beat up, but that is to be expected depending on the carrier. Now let's move to the fun stuff: * Comes with Windows 11 already loaded. Haven't upgraded any of my other Windows machines to 11 yet so this was a nice way to get introduced to the new OS before upgrading one of my primary machines. So far, I'm liking it. * Features a 17.3" Full HD display. For my preference, when dealing with laptops, the bigger screen is always the way to go. Since I'll use this for mobile gaming as well as general purpose machine, the bigger screen helps when doing lite work tasks and catching up on shows while on work travel. * 8GB of RAM is not a terribly small amount of RAM, but when you have the space for more, why not go BIGGER. As soon as I saw that this unit had an extra RAM slot, I was on Newegg ordering another 8GB. 16GB will do the system nicely. * The 512GB SSD has the speed I'm looking for, just not the space capacity. With files, applications, updates, etc, that 512GB will be gone before I know it. Luckily, there is a empty SSD slot in this laptop. A 1TB or 2TB solution should take care of my storage needs for some time. * This laptop comes with a 11th Generation Intel® Core™ i5-11400H. More than enough horsepower to support any application that I currently use and then some. * Processing those graphics, we have the NVIDIA RTX 3050 Ti 4GB GDDR6. Probably one of the most impressive components in this laptop. Looking forward to see how hard I can push this thing. The games I've currently been playing all look spectacular on this unit. * What would a gaming rig be without a little RGB. Although RGB customization is limited only to the keyboard, you can still enjoy the wide array of color combinations and effects using the Armory Crate software that is included with the system. This laptop comes with all of the other bells and whistles you'd expect a laptop to come with nowadays. I singled out the ones above because I felt those to be the most note worthy that attract a potential buyer in the first place. Overall, I would say ASUS did a good job on this laptop. It has all the makings of a good mid-level gaming laptop while giving you a good multi-tasking machine for use with other applications.

Solid MidTier Gaming Laptop
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When it comes to gaming laptops there is always a degree of compromise between function, performance, and price. Laptops obviously provide great portability, often at the sacrifice of overall performance. Even the most spec'd laptops can struggle, especially when it comes to heat dissipation, not to mention the increased cost. So why do I say all of this? Well ASUS has done well in finding a sweet spot of sorts with this particular gaming laptop. It is far from the most decked out system on the market, but also far from the worst. But some of what is under the hood combines to an overall impressive performing machine that doesn't cost a fortune. So you get a sort of mid-level gaming experience in a cost-effective price point. The most obvious and immediately noticeable feature is the huge 17.3" size. With a 144Hz FHD screen, this display is a dream. Backed by the RTX 3050, motions are fluid and smooth providing a great visual experience. Audio is decent as well. Sounds are loud and clear, although nothing beats a great headset for gaming. Keys are quite responsive with minimal travel. No noticeable lag time between key presses and screen action. I do wish the backlit keyboard was multi-zone, however they are bright and easily definable. The included ASUS Armory Crate allows for quite a bit of overall system adjustment to enhance the gaming experience. Connectivity has never been an issue with WiFi and Bluetooth. Initial setup took about an hour due to several updates from both Microsoft and ASUS. Everything downloaded and installed without issue and we were up and running soon after. I have found the fans tend to kick in pretty quick, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I've had no issues with overheating or excessive heat produced by the laptop. Sure it does get warm, but nothing I wouldn't expect. I did not find the fans to be excessively noisy either, in fact they are a bit quieter than expected. Overall I am happy with this system. There is enough memory and storage, great graphics card, excellent screen, and solid build to combine for a pretty great experience. Add in the price point and you have yourself quite a nice mid-level gaming laptop. If that's what you are in the market for, I would definitely recommend you put this on your short list.

Good Gaming Experience
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In general, this gaming laptop is good, not great but good. The screen size is its biggest asset at 17.3 inches, but the internals on this particular model are average: Intel Core i5 (11th generation) 6-core processor, 8GB RAM, 512GB storage. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti graphics card is great, as is the 144Hz refresh rate. The screen brightness at 250 nits though, is dim even when turned all the way up. There is the standard Ethernet port, HDMI 2.0 output, 3 USB 3.1 type A ports, and 1 USB 3.2 type C port. I tried various games (Fortnite, Minecraft, COD, GTA, Far Cry, Hitman, etc.) and it performed well enough. They looked better, though, and I had a better experience when I hooked up the laptop to an external monitor (ASUS TUF 31.5 Curved Freesync Premium Gaming Monitor) which had a higher brightness and sharper contrast. The backlit keyboard has good travel and tactile feel both when gaming and when just regular typing as well. I like the numerical keypad that is included and of course the rainbow lighting (customizable) patterns. The case of the laptop itself is made of both aluminum and plastic, seems pretty tough—it passed “military grade” drop testing, and looks sleek in the Eclipse Gray color. It is pretty heavy, but that is to be expected with such a big screen. It comes shipped with Windows 11 installed, has dual fans for cooling, two-way noise cancellation, a second SSD slot, and WiFi 6. I have access to fast internet speed at home and it kept up well. Overall, a good gaming laptop for the price and supplied internals and features, but if you want the best of the best you will have to upgrade internals and/or spend more. And the screen is kind of forgettable because of the dimness. I suspect I will use it more often hooked up to my external ASUS gaming monitor when not on the go.
I would recommend this to a friend- Pros mentioned:Processor speed

After updating all software I was impressed with the speed but internal space disappeared quicking. The processor was very quick. And after updating the overall experience got better. Gameplay was fluid. And the beautiful resolution was amazing. With a few hardware enhancements, you have a solid gamer pc. Load times were great. The wifi was very good. Overall this one is on point.
