Good for gaming; Bad for design

Owned for 3 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this monitor with the intention of using it for gaming, but I also wanted to see if it would handle my design programs: it could not. If gaming is what you'd be using this monitor for primarily, then this monitor does very well. It has a very good refresh rate, has good connection between consoles (with many ports), and I love the crosshairs they have. If gaming is just a side hobby, and you also do a lot of design, you'd be better off going with a different monitor. One of the only hangups I have with this monitor is how green heavy this monitor is, even after calibration. The monitor is also dimmer than my laptop at the highest brightness. #ffec30 is a golden yellow color on my laptop, while it is almost a pure yellow (#fcff30) on my Asus. While most people will not be bothered by the minute inaccuracies in color, it adds a lot of extra time when I'm constantly switching between two monitors that are running the same color profile but have wildly different expressions in color. If you're not interested in design or color accuracy, do get this monitor, it's really good! My partner now uses it for his gaming, and he has no complaints.

Only issue was on initial setup, it puts itself into a weird mode that doesn’t let you access certain settings, and it’s not clear that it needs to be turned off, other than that it’s a good monitor.

Buying on past experience...disappointed.

Never a problem with the old one and it saw use as my main monitor up until the pandemic and I needed something bigger to work from home. Being my secondary monitor it went these last three years well. It finally gave up while I was working. RIP old buddy. I got this new one home and set up just fine and I was enjoying another good Asus product. Around one hour in a 'bright pixel' appeared smack dab in the middle of the screen - red. No way to unsee it. I was so disappointed (and angry/frustrated etc). $230 to last only one hour with nothing wrong. Manufacturers say three or less is not a defect. I beg to differ when you look at it for your workday and then gaming. Thankfully, I was well within Best Buys return window. Their customer service was excellent when I returned it Wednesday (5 stars for Best Buy). Now I have to look for something else. Not happy. It might be a good monitor overall but I didn't have the best experience with this particular one.

Works great.....at first

This was approximately 2 months ago and now the 144hz mode is starting to fail as well. Almost exactly one year after purchase.

Sound is mediocre

Owned for 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this monitor with some hesitance as I was looking for a monitor with built in speakers, hoping this would have adequate sound, even when turned up all the way, once I received it, everything seemed well built solid, the screen was average, you could see there was not deep blacks, and when it came to testing out the sound, it was mediocre at best, I had everything turned up to 100 and the sound was not the best, sounded like it was in a barrel and was not pleasant listening to a video at all. I gave it some thought for a day and ultimately decided to return it for another monitor which I have now and it sounds and looks a ton better.
