The RTX 5080 TUF is an absolute monster – future-p

Upgraded from a 4080 to the ASUS TUF RTX 5080 and holy… the jump is insane. 4K 240 Hz with full path tracing + DLSS 4 in Black Myth Wukong and Cyberpunk looks unreal and stays above 120 fps. Temps never go above 68 °C even after hours of gaming thanks to that massive triple-fan cooler. Super quiet too – I barely hear it over my case fans. Power draw is high but totally manageable with my 1000 W PSU. Frame Gen 4 + the new AI upscaling makes everything buttery smooth. Ray reconstruction is flawless now. Build quality is tank-level, love the reinforced backplate and the subtle RGB. If you want a card that will crush 2025-2028 games at max settings, this is it. ASUS killed it with the TUF version – worth every penny.

The ASUS Behemoth: A Love-Hate Relationship

Why did I buy this? Was it FOMO? Was it the need to be on the latest and greatest? No clue. Here we are. This particular model from ASUS is built like a tank, and it's massive. It's quiet, fast, and stays cool. I haven't attempted an overclock yet, but I have no doubt it'll handle it. Paired with a 7950X3D, my temperatures haven't exceeded 60-65°C under load. For those wondering, yes, this card does fit in the Corsair 4000D. Now, let's talk about the elephant in the room: the pricing. It's atrocious. Both these companies are milking us dry, and I'm the sucker who fell for it. With geopolitical tensions on the rise, I don't see prices getting any better anytime soon. In fact, they'll probably just get worse. So, get scammed while you can!

    Incredible Technology

The new Multi Frame Gen tech that comes with the 5000 series is incredible. On 2x frame gen, there is absolutely no input delay, ghosting, or bluriness whatsoever, and it doubles my FPS. I am getting 200 FPS in Cyberpunk 2077 with psycho ray tracing, ray reconstruction, quality DLSS with the new transformer model, 2k resolution and all ultra settings. On 4x frame gen, I get almost 400 FPS, and still do not see a visual quality decrease. AI rendering is truly the future of gaming, do not listen to the people who haven’t even tried the tech screaming “fake frames!” Rasterization performance is maxed out dinosaur technology and Nvidia knows it. Anyone benchmarking the 5000 cards on pure rasterization performance just don’t get it. This tech is absolutely incredible and the card is a massive jump from my RTX 3080. Extremely common Nvidia W. Do not buy an AMD card if a 5000 series is an option. It is massive in size though so make sure it will fit in your case. I attached a couple photos showing how close of a fit it was in my mid tower.

The ASUS ROG 5080 RTX OC was not the card I wanted, but it was the card in stock and everyone has a limit. So, i relent and order the card only to be informed its no longer in stock and i must drive 60 miles to a different store. They did hold the card and it was new, not returned/refurbished. Installation was smooth since i have a 3080 on my 9950X3D did a DDU and installed latest drivers. Stock the card is very potent and will easily boost to 2900 range while remaining cool and quiet. Compared to rhe 3080 the performance is stellar, but really the cooling system (and VRMs) they slapped on this card is the star of rhe show, allowing for lots of headroom if manually OC (im not, too lazy). I only wish they released with 20GB VRAM but im sure that will be the 5080Ti. Just like the 30-series i missed out on xx90 model but am happy nonetheless altough the price really is a but cheeky.

Just upgraded to this card from a 3080 ti. Huge difference in 2025 title games. The biggest difference is the how much cooler this card runs. 30 to 50 F cooler than the 3080 ti I had. It is a much bigger card the the 3080 ti, so you may need to upgrade the case. Battlefield 6: 75 FPS utra setting and no dlss. AI: Phi 4 Q6_K 0.21 Seconds to 1st token and 15.65 tokens/sec. Overall very impressed with the build quality of the card and the new Blackwell architecture, a massive leap from Ampere architecture.

I couldn’t be happier with my ASUS TUF RTX 5080! This card is an absolute beast—it runs amazingly well, handling everything I throw at it with ease. Super quiet, even under load, which is impressive given the power it delivers. I haven’t had a single issue since installing it, and the build quality feels incredibly durable, just as you’d expect from ASUS TUF. If you’re looking for a powerful, reliable, and quiet GPU, this is hands-down one of the best choices out there. Absolutely worth every penny!

    Excellent GPU, but...

The GPU itself is excellent. It's probably the coolest running video card I've used since the mid 2000s. The cooling solution does a good job of moving the 360W+ at full load and still stays quiet. However, I've had a few issues. The inductor squeal is very noticeable at all framerates under full load. Everything from 80FPS in 3DMark Steel Nomad to a feature test running at 1000FPS causes squealing. At a $400 premium I would have expected a higher end selection and refinement of components on the PCB. Nvidia does their usually kneecapping of overclock potential by limiting voltage severly, but at least Asus has provided a voltage curve tool borrowed from MSI afterburner. With that said, the card does clock very high without exceeding its software power limit. At a $400 premium, the OC constraints seem unreasonable, but I put the blame on Nvidia for that. The last technical issue I had was with my monitor. I noticed on games using Vulkan API (No Man's Sky and Talos Principal) the monitor would flicker while it was in "160Hz Overclock Mode". The card will not drive the monitor at 160Hz either, I get a black screen at that refresh rate, so I dropped back to stock mode 144Hz and the issue seems to be resolved. This wasn't an issue with my previous AMD 6900XT, so I doubt it's the fault of the monitor or the cable. It's possible there's a particular output mode AMD supported on RDNA2 that Nvidia doesn't, but I haven't found much information on the issue yet. Overall I wouldn't recommend this particular card with other options on the market at $200+ less with the same features. However, given the supply constraints right now, it made sense in my situation.

This ASUS TUF RTX 5080 is a beast of a graphics card, delivering excellent performance in the latest games at high settings. The TUF design feels solid and the cooling seems effective under load. As the title indicates, it's a good product, but it is definitely a little pricy. You're certainly paying a premium for this level of performance, but the gaming power is undeniable if it fits your budget.

It's really big so you should make sure it will fit before you pick one up. Works great. Also it has the new style of power connection so you may want to have that with your psu, but it comes with an adapter too.

I upgraded from a 4070 to this 5080 and have noticed a significant improvement in performance. I am able to run all settings at max and get better than 80 FPS on all games I throw at it. If I drop a couple of tweaks, I am well over 120 for BF6 and the like. I realize this is not an insignificant purchase, but I am very happy with this and would recommend to anyone who is not strapped for cash. On a side note, I used to order from New Egg exclusively but have been impressed by not only BestBuy's prices, but they have a good experience in store and with online orders for my pc parts.

Overpriced and poor value to performance, which unfortunately is the largest issue with this GPU. However, that's the only real issue I have. This unit is built very well, and is absolutely solid in both form and function. It's a large card, so you have to be certain it will fit in your case. The "Gunmetal Grey" color scheme matches perfectly with the other components in my build. My unit OC's really well, which is never guaranteed, and does indeed provide the experience it promises. Overall, once I got over the price I paid, it's been nothing but an enjoyable experience. If not for the price, I'd recommend this GPU any day. However, for the price I paid, I'd think twice before doing it again.

Card is a beast. Fair warning that due to Nvidia's horrible QC and Asus's non-existent bin testing, you're at the mercy of the silicone lottery, regardless if you're buying a Prime, TUF or Astral. Had to go through 6 TUF 5080s until I got a good bin. And the difference is night and day.
