I connected this to the laptop and once I figured out how to change Windows to use a different connecter everything starting working great. I tested the speed and it was much better. Also, I have had a lot fewer issues keeping my connection.

The problem is that at least twice a week I have to reseat it because it stops communicating with the router (all my other devices are fine so it isn't the router). Once reseated it works again but its a pain.

Good but overheats

However, it seems to overheat at times in my laptop. I think because of its small size it isn't able to easily distribute the heat that accumulates in my slim profile laptop. So that may be something to take into account.

I suggested this USB wireless card and my nephew was up and running within ten minutes of getting the device home. It's literally plug and play.

Geek Squad Comes Through

Geek Squad came and tried to fix it but the wi-fi chip was toast. He recommended this very inexpensive adapter and it worked flawlessly, thus saving the computer from the scarp heap.

Quick and easy local internet connection

He's in high school so he does a lot of schoolwork on his computer. This adapter was inexpensive and worked as soon as he plugged it in and, boom, Bob's your uncle.

It's small compact design makes it safe to use without worrying about it being damaged while in the USB Port. I would recommend the Asus - Dual-Band Wireless-AC USB Network adapter sense this is the second one I have purchased.
