I gave it 4 stars because I first plugged it in, set up the driver, it didn't detect the network. Then it finds the network, but can't connect. That wasn't the reason for a 4 star review. I connected it to a USB extension (my setup is on the floor in the basement). Now I got a 20 foot USB extension running along the wall with something the size of a nickel at the end. The reason for 4 stars was the first one got REALLY hot. May have been some bad connections inside to cause the overheat. The speeds are desirable. I am connecting at speeds between 300 and 700 without stutter and headaches. It's worth it but make sure the heat stays warm, not hot. Also make sure you not so out of range like me.

Really love this little gadget. It has a very small profile, but carries a punch. It works just as if you had your computer wired to your connection.

I have stuck with another brand for a long time and thought they could do no wrong. Well they got full of themselves and let the world pass them by. Along comes Asus to the rescue. Not only was it the size I needed to fit my busy laptop lifestyle, but it was also the fastest one I ever owned. Hooking up at a work site with a A broadcast I am getting 200mbs from this item. Even my other one (twice the price) is only getting 130mbs on it's best day. Highly recommend for the laptop crowd that needs space saving with the speed compromise. I never take it out of the usb slot and use it to shotgun my laptops built in wifi. so grand total is 200mbs on usb and 300mbs on the onboard. Who needs cable at this rate..

A great upgrade for an older laptop

I bought this to use with an older laptop that lacks the ability to use 5ghz Wi-Fi. I specifically like the compact size of this adapter. I can leave it plugged into the laptop and since it only protrudes a quarter of an inch, I don't have to worry about accidentally breaking it. The only drawback is that that its antenna is smaller so it might not get as strong a signal as larger adapters, but I've still been able to average better than 200Gbs on my Wi-Fi.

I would really recommend this product. All of my games run at really low ping and it reaches pretty far from the router.

Have a 2015 era HP Probook, and the wireless seemed to be having trouble recently connecting at the far end of my house. Speed ratings using fast.com seemed to struggle to get past 10mbps causing slow loading web pages. This ASUS wireless device now gives speeds >50mbps under the same conditions, and much faster when closer to the modem. You DO have to remember to disable the built in wireless, otherwise the computer will continue to use the old one. For $32....I now have a very usable computer again.

One of my laptops is over 4 years old. I have so many things on it, that I don't want to get rid of it. You can call the old girl my workhorse laptop! I got rid of the old WM HDD and upgraded it to a Samsung SSD. Things are running a lot faster, but I was still getting only 2ghz wifi. This little gizmo enabled my old laptop with 5ghz! Simply hook it up to one of your USB ports, install the driver, and that's it!

It's quick and easy to use just plug in the USB and your good to go using wifi on your pc. You can use the dvd drive for the installation but I didn't need it mostly because I don't have a disc drive.

The dongle is very minimalistic. However, it could get a bit hot when use for long period of time. Also, the speed is decent. Not superfast but good for its size

Wow. This was a great wifi USB device for our desktop. Literally is plug and play and nothing complicated to it. Fast speeds and works well with our wireless router even though it's up stairs and the router is down stairs. Would definitely recommend.

So lol, I built my computer and well chose a mobo without wifi built because I knew I was going to be hardwired via ethernet and doubted the day I would ever need wifi. Well I was wrong and this little bugger here is doing the job perfectly!

Works great under normal conditions, but be ware of hot weather. They get really hot. Having one that sticks out further helps with the heat and is more effective in detecting a signal. Of course, the more it sticks out, the more likely it is to get damaged, but I don't trust this little one anymore - does not work in many settings were the signal is weak or the temperature is high.
