I mistakenly deleted all drivers for imbedded LAN equipment on the desktop i built. This was an alternative to gain access to the Internet. Once I recovered access to Internet I then recovered the drivers from the manufacture to reactivate LAN equipment.

Bought this Wifi adapter for a Desktop PC build I set up in the living room for playing PC games on my HDTV. This device worked okay for about a few days successfully connecting to my 802.11ac wireless internet via my Fiber Internet through AT&T. About a week using this device, I decided to check out some Youtube videos on this PC and noticed Youtube was giving me low 480p resolution, so I'd change the resolution to 1080p, when I do this the video began buffering every 2 seconds and was barely able to load the rest of the Youtube page. I checked the wireless connection status and looked at the Properties of my access point the PC was connected to and I found it connecting to only my 2.4GHz band and not the 5GHz band that it initially connected with the first week I set it up. I tried reinstalling the drivers (which I didn't need to initially install because Windows 10 already had the driver) downloading the driver from ASUS website, did not fix the problem nor changed the driver (it is likely the same driver Win10 had on file). Attempted to force 802.11a/c or 802.11a/c/n on the Wireless Adapter in Configure on the Properties page, where it defaults to Auto. When I changed this, it then would not show my access point at all. Next I then went into my AT&T Router modem and disabled the 2.4GHz band, only allowing the 5GHz broadcast. After that my access point still was not showing up. Confirming my belief that Somehow the 5GHz band on this little ASUS USB wifi adapter stopped functioning at all. Only the 2.4GHz band it will see my access point and it is very poor quality on that band. Using my Dell laptop (of 2015) I could connect no problem to my 802.11ac connection, it was in fact on the 5GHz band the entire time, and it was sitting right next to my Desktop in the living room. Do not buy this adapter. I just returned this to Best Buy today getting my refund. I looked at other USB Wifi adapters and they all seem to have some issues according to user reviews. In hindsight I realize the USB Wifi is a poor convenience solution. Way back in the day I bought a 802.11g Wifi adapter that was a PCI card and I initially had no issues with that and eventually gave it away. I should have stuck to buying those type of Wifi adapters. Today there are plenty of PCIe 1x style Wifi adapters, and these are what we should be buying, especially if you have a desktop PC. Ordered me Gigabyte's latest PCIe Wifi card.

Best Buy seems to one of on a few, if any technology shops that carries many of the items that I either need or want to purchase. I am new to Colorado and the many options available in Arizona are not the same here in Colorado. Best Buy is my technology shop of choice at my new location.
