when my teenage daughter needed a laptop we chose this one in the store at Best Buy. it has been so perfect for her that a few months later when my wife's Laptop went out of commission recently, we simply bought another one of these because we liked it so much. I suspect that we will buy a third one when my own laptop decides to call it quits. it is ideal on so many levels that we don't even bother looking at other choices now.

    Overall Great, some flaws

The solid state hard drive really interested me. It is quiet. Certain programs will cause it to run non-stop, creating a lot of heat. They are not commonly used ones but you should run through yours to be sure when you buy this laptop. I also ran into a snag when I was recording myself on the asus recording program - the supposedly silent hard drive was really noisy on the recording! Something to check out further. It's super light. A great feature. The lit keyboard doesn't help in the dark, like most lit keyboards, it's not bright enough. The space bar is the biggest flaw - it doesn't work at the edges, exactly where your thumbs normally will hit it! For months I didn't notice, thinking I was just skipping it, since I am a fast typist. Finally I did a simple test and realized that the outer quarter inch on each side of it simply won't respond when depressed. I'm tempted to send it back to Asus over this issue. You should see if it's true for the one in the store before you buy. It doesn't come with a lot of memory but I don't need much since so much is in the cloud or can be backed up on my terabyte drive. There are only two usb ports and no CD drive, something many will want to consider. I use a multiport extender. Overall, for a very lightweight, superfast laptop, it competes with much much more expensive models.
