However, I read the reviews before taking the leap on this computer and a handful of them stated the machine would overheat or freeze up. True to those reviews, it froze up several times over the 7-10 days that I had it. One time, while going through emails, and once while uploading pictures directly from my iPhone to the picture folder, a couple of times when I opened it would not come out of the dormant stage. I am not a gamer and I did not have several tabs open at any point. I ended up returning the machine. While at Best Buy, there was another Asus, the exact model, that was returned for the same reasons. The picture is excellent and it has a really fast response time to everything I did with it. The battery life was less than 3 hours. I had to plug it in and pretty much keep it plugged in. Only working on spreadsheets and internet-type items.

Owned for 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this laptop for the beautiful OLED screen to use for on the go photo editing, with wnough of a graphics card to give it some power. Jf was great for that and the screen is indeed beautiful and orocessed my ohotos quickly. The issue is the battery life. I was getting at most 4 hours (and often times much less) even with battery saver turned on and just light web browsing. That was highly disappointing that the battery life was that bad with just basic light usage. On top of that, the MUX switch disabled the login on my laptop because it had to remove encryptiom every time it restarted. That caused me to have to completely reset the laptop from cloud recovery which didnt install all of the software and drivers. So i then had to download and install around 15 drivers from Asus support to get it running again. Between the battery life and the headache of not being able to enable device encryption if i want to use the MUX switch to force usage of the Nvidia GPU in certain situations, I decided just to return it.

We certainly understand your concern regarding the short battery charge life and about the laptop login being disabled. In order to improve or prolong the battery charged time, please try to do a battery calibration manually. To start with, please drain it completely then charge it fully without using the system. Once fully-charged, please use the laptop, without the AC adapter connected, and drain let the battery drain completely again. Please repeat the charging process thereafter. Also, please verify if the unit is running with the most current system update and third-party battery draining applications are not running if not in used. In regards to the login being disabled with the MUX Switch, please ensure Windows and the video driver are up to date.

Over heating Issues

After using it for about a month, I started noticing it would just shutdown in the middle of pastors sermon. While troubleshooting I thought it was the charger but now after reading there is an overheating problem. I really regret this purchase. I so wanted to love this laptop because it has a Very fast processor and so many other great features.
